American Idol Season 8 Episode 25

Posted by Shane on Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at 8:45 pm

Now that Michael Sarver was sent packing in American Idol 8 Episode 24, we’re down to the top 9.

Tonight’s theme is popular downloads in iTunes. Apparently that’s supposed to be a theme anyway.

Anoop Desai
Song: My Way by Usher
Randy: Vocals were really good considering it wasn’t the right song for you.
Kara: Kinda just played it safe and did what Usher did. Feeling like a bunch of frat guys dared you to sing that.
Paula: Loved the return to the playful side.
Simon: Complete and utter mess.
Number: 1-866-IDOLS-01

Megan Joy Corkrey
Song: Turn Your Lights Down Low by Lauryn Hill/Bob Marley
Kara: I really like you, but I think you’re in trouble. Just not the song choice for you. Was getting irritating.
Paula: Need to be singing a sensitive ballad.
Simon: Boring. Indulgent. Monotonous. Nobody’s going to like that song.
Randy: Like watching paint dry. Took forever.
Number: 1-866-IDOLS-02

Danny Gokey
Song: What Hurts the Most by Rascal Flatts
Paula: This is where you thrive.
Simon: Your best performance.
Randy: Very nice but keep it moving.
Kara: Moved everyone emotionally. Had some goose bumps.
Number: 1-866-IDOLS-03

Allison Iraheta
Song: Don’t Speak by No Doubt (playing guitar)
Randy: A little a head of the beat, kinda cool playing the guitar. Mostly did not get the outfit.
Kara: Outfit was a little distracting. You don’t have to try to be that. You just are. Not your best performance but good.
Paula: Axe added a certain edge. Masterful and effortless.
Simon: Like a slightly precocious daughter trying to dress like and sound like a rock star. Plus you shouted the song.
Number: 1-866-IDOLS-04

Scott MacIntyre
Song: Just the Way You Are by Billy Joel
Kara: I think you made some very smart decisions by picking that song. Moving, honest performance.
Paula: Took a big risk without including the orchestra, but it paid off.
Simon: Your best performance by a country mile. It’s a different Scott. Very lucky you didn’t listen to Paula’s advice about not playing the piano.
Randy: One of the best of the night.
Number: 1-866-IDOLS-05

Matt Giraud
Song: You Found Me by The Fray (playing keyboard in the audience)
Paula: Appreciate that you went with the contemporary song, but you aborted the things we love about you. More like a sound alike.
Simon: Didn’t get it at all. Somebody trying to be somebody else again. Very uptight. Not a good commercial song. Just uncomfortable.
Randy: Wrong song for you. Not a rock kind of singer.
Kara: At some point, you’re going to have to commit. Rock side of pop or R&B side of pop?
Number: 1-866-IDOLS-06

Lil Rounds
Song: I Surrender by Celine Dion
Randy: Would not have been my song choice for you, but you sang it really well.
Kara: Surprised, too. Got a glimpse of a singer who can just let it out and wow us.
Paula: Don’t want to see an adult contemporary Lil Rounds. Want to see the joy.
Simon: Safe song. Similar to a wedding performance.
Number: 1-866-IDOLS-07

Adam Lambert
Song: Play That Funky Music by Wild Cherries
Paula: True genius does not fulfill expectations. True genius shatters it.
Simon: Very brave, but at least the karaoke nonsense has been gotten rid of. Won’t make you as popular as last week, though.
Randy: In the star zone.
Kara: Can’t wait to see what you are going to do next.
Number: 1-866-IDOLS-08

Kris Allen
Song: Ain’t No Sunshine by Bill Withers (playing piano)
Randy: So in the zone. One of the best performances. So creative. So cool.
Kara: That is artistry.
Paula: Could be a first cut from your album. Your best performance to date.
Simon: You brought confidence tonight. Very good, cool arrangement of the song. Your best performance so far.
Number: 1-866-IDOLS-09

The Biggest Loser Couples 2 Episode 13

Posted by Shane on Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at 6:45 pm

Aubrey was voted out in The Biggest Loser Couples 2 Episode 12 and immediately fell right off the wagon before recovering and starting to lose weight again.

Despite the fact that Ron & Mike considered voting for Filipe, Sione still believes he’s got an alliance with them. Granted, they did stick with them, even if it was a bad gameplay move.

Ali Vincent, the season 5 winner who’s still in great shape, will be filling in for Allison, who had a baby the night before. Like Ali’s season when she came back to win, some people will be getting a chance to come back. Three people who were eliminated earlier in the season because their partners were unable to bring them back will be returning for another chance. Nicole, Estella, and David are those three. One of them will earn their way back to the campus based on percentage of weight loss.

Estella: 197 pounds (-45, 18.60%)
David: 347 pounds (-46, 11.70%)
Nicole: 182 pounds (-87, 32.34%)

For such a young guy with such a large amount of weight to lose, it was looking like David may well have just thrown away a quarter of a million dollars. Nicole, however, quite obviously has been kicking but at home, and it’s no surprise that she put up the top numbers when looking at the before and after images. She’s not just the best of the three, but she’s actually ahead of everybody else on the show except for Tara. Not to be forgotten is Estella, who’s done an impressive job considering her age.

Everybody knows Nicole’s a massive threat. She’s done better at home by herself better than most of these people have done with world class trainers, nutritionists, and working out 6 hours a day.

The other players are already trying to get into her head. She could very well be a valuable vote, but she has yet to build up any alliances.

Nicole wakes up and wants to go for a jog. Of course, she bumps into Tara on her trek. She doesn’t think she can trust her because of the frantic nature of their discussion.

Nicole will be training with Bob.

As afraid as Tara hopes everybody else is of Nicole, Tara, too, is afraid of Nicole, perhaps more than the others. Jillian fears that Tara’s becoming obsessed with the game. Tara knows that she needs to figure out what caused her to gain 100+ pounds in a year and a half, or otherwise she’ll just go back and gain it all again.

Ron’s having chest pains during his walk, so he will be getting checked out by the medic. They immediately send him to the hospital because they take chest pains seriously. They rule out a heart attack, but they do find out that he had blood loss, although they’re not sure how that happened. This is a side effect of his gastric bypass surgery. After some more tests, they’ve determined that he will be fine. His ulcers are in the healing process and do not require intervention at this point. He is the first contestant who will be going on a medicine while on the ranch instead of going off it, but he’s given the okay to go back to campus.

Now Michelle Aguilar, season 6 winner, will be filling in for Allison at the challenge. Each player will get on a platform 6 feet above the pool. One at a time, they’ll release a rope, making it harder and harder to keep their balance. The winner will get a 1 pound advantage at the weigh-in. For Nicole, if she wins, since she has immunity, she can give a 1 pound penalty to any player. They start off on 40 ropes. Mike is the first one to fall. Filipe follows. Laura drops at 20 ropes. Her partner Tara is next, followed by Helen. Nicole drops at 15 ropes. That pits Sione against Kristin. Kristin falls at 9 ropes, and Sione wins the challenge.

Ron worries that he’s going to be below the yellow line since he’s spent three days in the hospital. Mike doesn’t want him to fall on the sword for anyone, though he will fall on the sword for his son.

Allison’s back for the weigh-in.

Nicole: 187 pounds (+5, 2.75%)

This definitely falls under the wow category. She’d have been better off staying at home, or at least that’s how it appears for now. Since she gained weight, Nicole’s immunity has been removed. Bob says that stress was the problem. Presents a good opportunity for people to get rid of a big threat.

Kristin: 251 pounds (-4, 1.57%)

Laura: 214 pounds (+1, 0.47%)

Tara: 189 pounds (-6, 3.08%)

Tara has hit the 100 pound mark and says that now she gets it and is worth it.

Helen: 171 pounds (-6, 3.39%)

Sione: 260 pounds (-6, -1, 2.63%)

Filipe: 259 pounds (-4, 1.52%)

Mike: 253 pounds (-11, 4.17%)

Ron: 320 pounds (+3, 0.95%)

Combined with his big week last week, Ron knew he was going to gain weight this week because he was pumped full of fluids at the hospital.

The two people who gained the most weight this week are below the yellow line: Nicole and Ron. This is a no brainer, and it looks like Nicole’s return to the ranch was short-lived. However, considering how well she did when she went home before (a lot better than she’s done since returning), she still looks to be a threat for the at home prize. She asks the others to consider what they said before when they approached her upon her return.

Votes
Mike: Nicole
Filipe: Ron
Laura: Nicole
Sione: Ron
Tara: Nicole
Helen: Ron
Kristin: Nicole

Ron narrowly escapes, but he and Mike should have dumped Filipe when they had the chance. It’s pretty obvious that alliance is officially dead. With 4 votes, Nicole has been eliminated again, but she’ll go home with the knowledge that she can keep going on her own. She looks forward to a healthy life with her new husband and future babies. She’s down now to 164 pounds from her starting weight of 269 pounds, putting her at 39% lost already.

Stay tuned to dingoRUE for another live recap of The Biggest Loser 7 Episode 14, which airs Tuesday at 8/7c on NBC.

Heroes Season 3 Episode 21

Posted by Shane on Monday, March 30, 2009 at 8:05 pm

Hiro kidnapped baby Matt Parkman and regained his ability to freeze time in Heroes Season 3 Episode 20.

As for Peter, he’s just saved his mom. He’s not saving her because he’s a good son, though. He just wants answers. She says she wants answers, too.

Danko may be off the case as far as Nathan’s concerned, but that won’t stop him from having agents. Granted, three of his agents are now no longer living.

Sylar shows up in Danko’s car. They both want the same thing: killing people like him.

Angela wants to have some dreams that matter, but she can’t get to sleep. She always found peace in the church where she was married, so that’s where they’re at now.

Nathan’s trying to earn some money with a drinking game. $100 a hit. Last man standing wins.

Danko hears a phone ringing. It’s from Sylar. He didn’t have much trouble sneaking in there. He’s got an answer for him. James Martin, the guy who killed his men, is a shapeshifter. We see how he changes form as he makes his getaway. He just has to touch someone, then he morphs into them. He could be anyone.

Angela thinks Peter must hate her for what she’s done and how she’s raised him, but he says he doesn’t.

Danko believes that shapeshifting would be Sylar’s escape hatch. Despite the fact that Danko has a gun pointed at Sylar and is trying to act tough, Sylar still wants to work with him.

Peter doesn’t get the point of all this, and he wants to know if God even cares. He wants to see God live up to his end of their deal and just show up. He doesn’t get an omnimpotent deity, but what he does get is a group of guys hunting two fugitives.

Martin’s trying on personalities like clothes. Sylar believes the common denominator is power. The roles he takes on give him power like he would never get in real life. What they’re seeking is men of power with women of allure. That narrows it down.

Nathan’s passed out, but that hasn’t stopped Claire from getting the money back. It’s like she’s not even affected by the alcohol.

Angela’s lost everything. Her friends, her husband, her boys. But that’s the price she chose to pay to save the world. As she’s saying that, HRG busts in on her in the confessional, and he just pretends that it’s all clear.

When they arrive at the night club, Sylar finds Martin. He thinks Danko will recognize him. Either Danko’s got a twin, or they’ve got themselves a shapeshifter. He’s after power. For some reason, he thinks Danko has that. Regardless, he’s a better Danko than the real thing is.

Nathan gave Claire a free pass because he hoped to win her over in one move. He’d do better to fix this mess he’s created.

Danko shoots someone who looks like Sylar. It’s Martin apparently. Now that that’s over, it’s Sylar’s turn to play.

Although Nathan said he would fix everything the night before, the next morning, he says he was just drunk. He doesn’t have any plans to fix this. Claire still believes in him, even if he’s lost belief in himself. He’s supposed to be Superman.

Angela has managed to get some sleep and have a dream. After they find Nathan and Claire and bring the family together, they need to go visit her sister.

Danko shows HRG the body in the body bag. Dead ringer for Sylar. The guy in Danko’s car who just shapeshifted into Sylar is as well.

The Celebrity Apprentice 2 Episode 5

Posted by Shane on Sunday, March 29, 2009 at 8:11 pm

The women finally lost in The Celebrity Apprentice 2 Episode 4, and Claudia Jordan was fired for losing control of her team and then making it personal.

The women won’t be missing Claudia any. However, this time it’s Khloe Kardashian’s turn to take the day off, so they will be another person down for the first day.

The teams will each be running 5 rooms at Loews Regency Hotel. Their guests will rate each team. Dicey task.

Tionne Watkins is the project manager for the women. Dennis Rodman agrees to be the project manager for the men. Annie Duke is hopeful that Dennis’ customer service will ultimately end in disaster.

Joan Rivers will be the concierge because she knows New York.

Clint Black hopes that Dennis stands a better chance to be a leader than a follower. Brian McKnight, however, is struggling to understand Dennis’ seemingly simple instructions.

The celebrities, who are used to having maids do this work that’s beneath them, start off with instructions on how to clean the rooms. Some of them are very quickly disgusted. From there, they go through the rest of the hotel at 30 minutes per training session. It’s all very rushed.

Dennis is starting to show what he can do. He calls up Carnegie Deli to hook them up with whatever they need from there. Then he lines up two complimentary chauffeur driven Mercedes. Jesse James and Herschel Walker will be doing the cleaning, while Brian, Dennis, and Clint go to Carnegie Deli. Before they leave, though, Dennis starts drinking. Uh oh.

Annie has been assigned to room service/bellperson. Natalie Gulbis is in the kitchen. T-Boz is doing housekeeping. Melissa Rivers will be doing housekeeping and also filling in where needed. Brande Roderick is also assigned to housekeeping/room service.

The boys get cookies from Carnegie Deli to give to their guests when they arrive.

Brian hopes to push Dennis’ buttons, which causes Dennis to become more loud than he normally is. He’s vetoing Dennis’ suggestion. Isn’t the leader the one who uses a veto?

Melissa is not happy. You mean she has to clean stuff? Brande gets dressed up in a maid’s outfit, which she knows will prove disappointing since it’s not that appealing.

Jesse and Herschel are working together well, although they probably could use some more bodies.

Natalie has obtained gift baskets from her sponsors, which she will be putting in the rooms.

Brian takes the cookies out and puts them on plates. Dennis, however, would prefer to take them downstairs to the chef to have him decorate them. On his way down, he gives some cookies to Joan Rivers for some reason. Then he wants to find something else to drink.

Having sent three guys across town to get a box of cookies, the men know they’re not ready in time. Their first guest is waiting downstairs wondering where they are. Clint lies and says the previous guest was slow in checking out. Hopefully that will work.

Dennis doesn’t like what he sees. He wants some champagne for his guest. He also wants a drink for himself.

The concierges have their hands full dealing with these guests. One person wants to get into a restaurant that’s backed up at least a year. Another person wants tickets for a show… on the stage.

The women get stuck with Stephen Baldwin. Yeah, he’s back again, trying to prove he’s a celebrity based on anything more than movies his brother has acted in.

As for the men, their celebrity guest is Vinny Pastore, the rat from last year. Dennis knows he’s going to be a jerk. He’s got a whole list of what he needs. Yeah, he thinks he’s a star, too.

Baldwin doesn’t like his view. It looks out on the hot dog vendor on 61st St. He doesn’t like it no matter what Joan says.

One of the guests from the men’s team is growing impatient. He wants his dinner reservations and wine.

Joan is able to secure tickets for Gypsy for one of her guests. As for her other guest, she’s able to figure out where there’s a peep show.

Brian’s guest is growing more frustrated. He’s unable to find the wine (that’s on the menu).

Natalie rolls her eyes at one guest. That’s probably not a good thing.

Herschel is wandering around aimlessly. Brian and Clint aren’t telling him the right information or where he needs to go. Dennis, however, seems to have figured out pretty easily what he’s supposed to be doing with the wine he’s got.

Brian can’t seem to make reservations, so Dennis does it for him, and puts the guests in the Mercedes. Then he gets in the car with them. He’ll be going to dinner with them, whether they like it or not.

One of the guests from the women’s team wants Annie instead of Natalie. She’ll be happy to oblige.

Clint finds out his fearless leader has abandoned them.

After a poor start, the men are finally starting to make things happen, booking all the requested show tickets.

Brande will be the dog walker.

Baldwin gets a $400 cover charge and $142 in additional fees for his show, neither of which he was informed about.

Rodman appears to have done some drinking while he was at dinner. As for the cookies, he forgot all about them. He’ll have to go find them. Now that he’s found the cookies, he’ll be heading home.

The women have offered complimentary breakfasts, so the orders all start rolling in at the same time. They didn’t make a particularly logical choice about it, though, as they’re just giving people for free whatever they want, whenever they want. This is bringing on a lot of extra work, although people will probably appreciate it.

The men, meanwhile, are just sitting around waiting for something to happen.

Day two, Dennis is back, but he doesn’t want to talk to anyone.

When Khloe arrived, her first thought was: it’s just room service. How hard could it be? It’s the being able to tell time part that she seems to struggle with. She brought her food at 20 minutes before 10 instead of 20 minutes after 10.

Joan’s getting another pricing complaint. She offered to send someone up to the room for a pedicure. The charge is double the normal rate, which she didn’t mention.

One of the guys from the women’s team wants to give them a 50 for presentation because there was trash in the garbage can.

For one of the guys’ guests, they liked Brian and Clint, but Dennis was a little…

The guys who went with Dennis to dinner found it spectacular. It was an interesting experience to say the least.

Brian, who’s been pessimistic pretty much since Dennis was appointed project manager, now thinks they may actually have a chance.

Tionne thinks her team did a great job, and her team thinks that she did a great job.

The women get some good compliments on their food and ticket arrangements. They get a couple negatives: the double priced pedicure and Natalie.

The men get compliments on dinner and ticket arrangements as well. The first guest was not happy it took so long to get into the room.

Vinny and Stephen did not fill out any guest cards.

Dennis does not think his team won. He doesn’t think he should even be there. Jesse responds that Dennis obviously has a drinking problem. This is not lost on anybody else either. Dennis is not denying that he walked out on his team.

This is apparently an intervention, which will continue for the next 10 minutes, regardless of who has won.

The men scored 86 out of 100. The women scored 91 out of 100, earning themselves a win. Tionne’s charity, Sickle Cell Foundation of Georgia, will receive $20,000.

No point to even debate this further. Dennis Rodman has been fired.

Stay tuned to dingoRUE for another live recap of The Celebrity Apprentice 2 episode 6, which airs Sunday at 9/8c on NBC.
