Survivor: David Vs. Goliath Winner

They finally managed to get rid of Christian in Survivor: David Vs. Goliath Episode 13, leaving Alison, Davie, Nick, Mike, Kara, and Angelina to battle it out in the final episode.

The Goliaths have recovered from their atrocious post-merge gameplay and by numbers have the advantage, but that whole David Vs. Goliath twist was completely silly when they swapped tribes after three episodes. It was David Vs. Goliath… for a little while. None of those who remain seem to take their original tribes very seriously.

With the idols burned, now everybody goes searching. Angelina is the one to find the clue. She follows the first step of the clue and digs up the ladder by the well. During this, she drops the clue, which she apparently did not read completely. How do you… how?

For the immunity challenge, they will race over a series of obstacles, use a ball to unlock a trap, build a staircase, and solve a 63 piece puzzle of the season logo. Kara’s in the lead after the target and even further in the lead after the stairs, but she’s not very far ahead of Davie, Angelina, and Mike. Nick seemed out of it, but he’s closing the gap. Nick wins immunity. He also wins spaghetti and cake and chooses Angelina to share with him. Davie says he doesn’t need to pick him again. He chooses Mike.

As the reward people plot Alison’s demise, they start talking about whether she has an idol. Angelina knows she doesn’t have it and decides to share her half clue with them. Mike finds it in the sand, and they let her climb to get it.

Nick agrees with Angelina about the Alison vote, but Mike would rather get rid of Davie. Alison knows it’s him or her, making her an easy sell. Kara likes the plan as well. He’s going to have to convince Angelina that Davie’s a threat and they need to split up that pair of him and Nick. Mike’s plan is that if he splits them up, he gets Nick all to himself. I’m sure he will enjoy being lied to. That worked so well for Christian.

With 4 votes, Davie has been voted off the island. Before he leaves, he tells them whoever orchestrated that now has his vote. Mike openly takes credit. That’s one reason to vote him out.

Angelina blames Mike, which is an easy story to believe because Mike’s been playing harder than he likes to let on. He’s very loud about his disapproval.

For the immunity challenge, they will stand on a pole, raise a bucket to fill a chute with water, grab a key, and solve a block puzzle. Alison can’t even balance to start the challenge, but she only needs to hold that for a few seconds. She is the first to get her key. Nick is behind her. Considering his performance in the last challenge, he’s a big threat for this one. Nick wins immunity.

He may have needed that, too, because he was so overly out of control about what happened at Tribal Council that he was making himself a target.

Oh, and next time, we are doing the stupid fire making thing again. At least they know about it this time.

There was a simple plan. Just get rid of Alison because apparently she’s a threat. Angelina doesn’t like that. She wants them to vote for her so she can get some votes but then use her idol correctly and send Alison home anyway. That way, she can brag to the jury that she finally did something right. And she tells Mike and Nick that’s her plan. What is this nonsense? Not done there, she makes a fake idol for Alison. Mike tells Kara, who thinks that maybe they should get rid of him instead. Alison will do that because Angelina’s safe despite her ridiculousness. Nick’s made it clear like he did with Christian that they’re done.

Mike makes some weird comments about Alison at Tribal. I’m not sure what he’s trying to do here by telling her she’s leaving without her dignity.

Alison plays her fake idol, which she knows is fake because it’s a shell with a rope around it. At least it’s not just a stick. Angelina plays her real idol.

For the final immunity challenge, they will have one hand tied behind their backs, drop a ball down the chute and catch it at the bottom, adding more balls as they go. Meh for a final challenge. Angelina drops after they get to three balls. Mike is next. The other two add a fourth ball. Kara drops during the transition, forgetting that she has to keep pace with the other three balls, not just add another. Nick wins immunity.

He pretty much has to take Angelina. Not only are they allies, but anyone would want to drag her to the end. I’m not sure what Kara has done either, but people at least like her.

That leaves Mike and Kara to practice creating fire because they know there is no need for any strategy discussion because whatever Nick says goes. Lame. Don’t bring this twist back again please. I don’t suspect either of them as being that great at this.

Vote
Angelina (to go with Nick to the final three)

As expected from the practice, Kara gets flame first, but it goes out. Struggling to even get a spark, Mike does light a sustainable fire of sorts, just one that isn’t going very high. Kara’s flame goes out again. Mike is getting somewhere. As she aimlessly fails to create fire, Mike’s is slowly building. Mike wins a spot in the final three.

Thanks for changing the outcome based on a fire making challenge again. No way he survived that vote if there were one since he is the biggest threat.

Christian asks them to highlight how they outwitted. Nick talks about all the alliances he had and how that allowed him to know everything. John asks Mike a question, but Angelina interrupts and asks to go first. She points out her social game and how she secured rice for the tribe. It’s not a selfless act if she keeps bring it up over and over again. When Angelina finally stops talking, Mike discusses his final two deals. Then he apologizes for being mean to Alison for no good reason.

Gabby complains about how this game is sexist. Ugh. This is the same broken record we have been hearing from Angelina as well. You lost because you played an emotional and bad game. Nobody cared about your gender. If you played like Amber, Parvati, or Sandra (twice), you would have had a shot. You’re not going to vote for Angelina either, nor will anyone else.

After the cringe is done, Nick tells a very compelling story about how he was the underdog eventually outnumbered 4-1 by Goliaths and how he played the game like he lives. If you’re still alive, you can still fight, which is why his job is to help people with drug addictions.

By a vote of 7-3, Nick Wilson is the Survivor: David Vs. Goliath winner. There’s certainly an argument for Mike here, but Nick is a solid winner who played a mostly good game.

Survivor: David Vs. Goliath Episode 13

Christian was again saved by an idol in Survivor: David Vs. Goliath Episode 12, leaving his closest ally who tried to turn on him so she could prove a point Gabby as the casualty.

Christian says he’s suspected Nick’s motives for quite a bit because he’s not really being honest. He’s not being honest? He isn’t the one who started this.

Nick finds the idol in front of Angelina, Christian, and Mike. It’s fake. Davie doesn’t believe his ploy… much. He continues to search.

For the reward challenge, they will be tied to ropes and must maneuver through obstacles to make their way to toss bags at blocks. Reward is a helicopter ride for lunch. Davie is first to start tossing, but he hasn’t left himself enough rope to get to more than a couple of his bags when he has to retrieve them to throw again. Angelina’s even worse off, unable to reach anything. Ditto for Kara. It comes down to a battle between Nick and Davie. Davie wins reward.

He chooses Nick to go with him, repaying him for choosing him on the family visit. Angelina complains that they both chose him. Would have been easier to say that he picked the person who almost just beat him. Does anyone have a final plea? Yes, Angelina does. She got the rice for them by giving up the immunity that she never would have won. So Davie’s second choice is Kara.

When they are alone, Davie warns Kara that Nick has two idols. Upon her return to camp, Kara warns Alison. Her plan was to keep Mike and Angelina in the dark. Kara has no such plan, promptly telling Mike.

Davie’s still not done searching, despite his belief that Nick may have actually found a second idol. He does not find an idol, but he does find an advantage. Also known as an idol. This idol is only good at the next Tribal Council, unless he is willing to risk his next vote. He’s got 50/50 odds. He chooses not to partake, taking guaranteed safety for next time (unless he wants to waste it again, saving someone who he now cannot get rid of) but also keeping his vote.

For the immunity challenge, they will stand on a narrow perch while balancing balls on a wooden disc. Everybody survives to the second round and a second ball. Kara and Angelina drop. Davie drops, and Christian follows. Nick drops. Alison and Mike move to the third round. Mike wins immunity.

Christian was the target who almost everybody tried to get rid of, but so far we have heard plans to target Nick and now Alison. Mike would like to revisit the Christian plan.

Nick comes clean to Davie. He only has one idol. With that honesty, Davie no longer wants to get rid of Nick, someone who’s proving trustworthy.

There’s a problem with that. He already told everybody that he wants to get rid of Nick. That’s the part that Mike tells him because that’s the only part anyone knows. Now Nick’s against Davie. I don’t think that’s what he wanted, but perhaps if Mike splinters the vote enough, he can still get rid of Christian.

Davie plays his idol for himself. Nick also plays an idol, the fake one he made. He played the fake one to get a read on them. So then he plays his real idol for himself.

With 3 votes, Christian has been voted off the island. He was the biggest threat to win. I don’t get why Alison is such a big target. Meanwhile, Davie was forced to burn his idol, and Nick wasted his, though his name was coming up an awful lot. Interesting strategy he used to fish up reactions, but obviously he misread them.

Mike and Alison ended up going after Davie. Davie and Christian went for Alison. The deciding votes were Angelina, Kara, and Nick for Christian.

Survivor: David Vs. Goliath Episode 12

Having somehow been dubbed the godfather, Carl ended up being eliminated in Survivor: David Vs. Goliath Episode 11.

Nick regrets saving Christian and burning all their advantages now that he’s flipped on them.

For the reward challenge, they will be divided into pairs who will race under an obstacle to gather balls to toss on a beam. Having dragged behind everybody else, Nick and Angelina get lucky and unlock their balls first, but they can’t untie them before everybody else starts shooting. Davie is the first to land a ball. Nick scores. Angelina scores, bringing herself and Nick the win. Reward is a BBQ with loved ones. They choose Davie to join them because he and Nick promised each other that a long time ago. Angelina chooses Mike.

The four who end up on the reward discuss a final four. That seems to sound good to everybody. Except Davie. They’ve all been together with each other for a long time, so he feels on the outside of such an alliance.

Wanting to prove she’s not Christian’s sidekick who constantly needs his emotional support, Gabby now leads the charge to blindside Christian. Oh yes, that plan again, now from a different mouth.

For the immunity challenge, they will balance on a perch holding a pole connected to a bucket. Mike is first to drop. After 5 minutes, they move to the next more difficult phase. Gabby fails to make the transition. Alison drops. Then Angelina. The others last another 10 minutes to move to the next phase. Those on the bench start coaching Nick but refuse to do the same for Christian when asked. Nick drops. Christian follows. Davie is next. Kara wins immunity.

Christian’s target is Alison. He’s alone there.

Gabby approaches Nick about getting rid of Christian. That works for Nick. He’s saved Christian. Twice. After the last vote, their alliance is dead.

Davie has other plans. He wants someone weak to be eliminated. Christian is a good shield. That makes Gabby a target, so he approaches Christian to warn him that Gabby and Nick are after him.

At least Christian would like to try to repair the bridge with Nick, hoping to save his idol for another night.

Before Jeff reads the votes, Christian asks for a second to think. Then he looks around to read the crowd. Then he plays his idol.

With 2 votes, Gabby has been voted off the island. They split the vote just enough to take out Christian’s former sidekick, though at the end of the day, nobody had Christian’s back. This is the second time Christian has had the most votes but been saved. The people who saved him last time are getting burned by that choice, though they did eliminate someone expendable.
