State of the Blog Address

dingoRUE has been around for just shy of one year now and am I ever amazed at the progress the site has made in such a short period of time.

I originally started dingoRUE.com as a personal blog to talk about my passions: reality TV, TV shows, celebrities, Vancouver and whatever else I felt like saying at the time, and now look at it. In the short time the site has been up and running it has evolved from an unfocused mish-mash of things with an ugly theme to a TV and reality TV focused blog with a pretty theme (or I think so at least), a strong fanbase and a decent amount of traffic. Eleven months ago I would have never guessed things could have gone this way, but man am I ever happy they have. The popularity of the site is increasing, along with the traffic, with every passing month and things just keep getting better and better. dingoRUE is even starting to generate enough revenue every month to pay the TV and Internet bills, which is a huge bonus.

The site has also afforded me an opportunity I would have never had without it. As I briefly touched on yesterday in the Heroes episode 22 spoilers post, I am going to be featured in the June/July issue of BC Business Magazine as one of BC’s many budding bloggers. Thanks to the kindness of John Chow, an extremely succesfull BC based blogger who blogs about how to make money online, a writer for the magazine called me for an interview a few months ago. The interview lasted some 30-minutes and just this past monday the magazine sent a photographer to take some pictures for the article. I have got to say, as much as I love celebrities, I could never be one. Having a photographer hang around for four hours to try and get the perfect shot of ‘me in my natural state’ had me a little on edge, to say the least. But it will no doubt all be worth it once I get my hands on a copy of the magazine and see my goofy mug amungst some of BC’s finest businessmen.

This entire post is basically my incredibly long winded way of saying thank you! I’m all to happy to blog about my passions and, quite frankly, am amazed anyone reads what I have to write. None the less, I appreciate every readers involvement in dingoRUE.com and thank all of you, new and old, for supporting the site.

Heroes Episode 22 Spoilers

I know, I know, it has been way to long since I last updated. I couldn’t even manage a live blog of Heroes episode 21 this past monday, though I did watch the show. Not only did I have friends over watching the show with me, I had a photographer in the house for over 4-hours! I’m going to be featured in the June/July issue of BC Business Magazine and they needed to get some pictures of me in my blogging element, though I certainly wasn’t expecting him to kick around for 4-hours. So, needless to say, I wasn’t able to get my live blog on. Rest assured, with only two episodes left, there is no chance I will miss another one!

To get things kicked into gear for the second to last episode, here are some prime Heroes episode 22 spoilers, enjoy!

Survivor Fiji Winner

**UPDATE: Survivor Fiji Winner Revealed!**

Alex Angarita was the 12th person to be voted off the island on tonight’s episode of Survivor Fiji, leaving us with just six remaining contestants. Unlike the Amazing Race All Stars winners, which were leaked a few months ago, the Survivor Fiji winner has thankfully yet to be leaked. How, you may ask, can the Survivor Fiji winner be leaked when the finale is live? Put quite simply, I don’t know, but it certainly wouldn’t be the first time a Survivor winner was known before the live finale aired. Luckily we haven’t had to contend with that this year and Survivor Fiji is still watchable, even if it hasn’t been one of the hit reality TV shows best seasons.

The six finalists on Survivor Fiji are: Kenward “Boo” Bernis, Cassandra Franklin, Andria (Dre) “Dreamz” Herd, Earl Cole, Stacy Kimball and Yau-Man Chan. The elimination of Alex Angarita on tonight’s episode signalled a shift in the balance of the show, as Alex was the final remaining member of a once strong alliance and now the remaining six contestants will have to break their deep rooted alliance, forming smaller splinter groups, selecting and picking off a new batch of targets.

Having watched most of the season, and through the process of elimination, I can fairly confidently say that neither Boo, Cassandra or Dreamz will become the Survivor Fiji winner, that is of course unless they decide to team up and manage to pull the proverbial rabbit from a hat.

My prediction for the Survivor Fiji final three is Earl, Yau-Man and Stacy, though I also have the sneaking suspicion that Stacy could be swapped out with either Dreamz or Cassandra in a strategic move to give both Earl and Yau-Man a better shot at the prize. Either way, it is all going to come down to Earl vs. Yau-Man in the end, even if there is a third contestant on the block, they will be ignored, much liked happened in Survivor Cook Islands.

With that being said, my pick for who will win Survivor Fiji is… *insert drum roll here*… Earl Cole! He’s done a very good job playing the game and everyone in it for the entire season and I have thought since day one that Earl would be the man to walk away with the grand prize. Don’t agree with me? Leave a comment and let me know who you think will walk away the winner of Survivor Fiji.

Don’t forget, there are only 10-days left until the 2-hour live season finale of Survivor Fiji where the winner will be revealed! The Survivor Fiji season finale airs at 8pm EST on Sunday, May 13th on CBS and will be followed by a 1-hour live reunion show.

Political Reality TV: Mark Burnett’s Independent

I’m a huge reality TV fan, but I’ll also be the first to admit that the evolution and progression of reality TV has seemingly come to a halt in recent years. Things have gotten stagnant and innovation has been put on the back burner in favor of pumping out another couple seasons of the surefire and classic reality TV shows like American Idol 6, Survivor Fiji, Amazing Race All-Stars and the likes. And you know what, it is getting harder and harder to get excited about a new season of reality TV shows when there are no new, fresh faces in the crowd.

Luckily it looks like Mark Burnett, the grandfather of reality TV and mastermind of such hit shows as Survivor, Rock Star Supernova, The Apprentice, The Contender, Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader and On The Lot may have come to the rescue with a brand new reality TV show! Best of all, I love the idea for the show and think it would make for great television.

Mark Burnett‘s newest idea is tentatively titled Independent and, should it actually get picked up and start production (which I don’t think it has as of yet, fingers crossed though), will bring the world of MySpace and politics to reality TV! The idea is to have MySpace users create politically driven audition videos and wage election campaigns via MySpace. A select group (no numbers have been released as of yet) with the highest number of votes received from MySpace users will be whisked away to battle it out in a politically charged reality TV show, running election campaigns, rallying for votes and ending it all in what will no doubt be a heated debate. The contestants will be competing for a $1-million grand prize that they must either donate to a political cause of their choice, or – and this is were things get really interesting – use the cash to fund their own political campaigns! That’s right folks, from MySpace, to reality TV to… the White House? You never know, after all, Sanjaya Malakar did make it to 7th place on American Idol 6, so anything can happen in the world of reality TV.

When asked about the idea behind Independent, MySpace Chief Executive Chris DeWolfe said “A lot of people think the younger generation doesn’t care about politics, and we’ve just empirically seen that not to be true.” And he could not have been more on the ball, which is exactly what makes me so excited about the entire idea behind this show. The youth (of which I still consider myself a part) are taking more and more interest in politics, and anything that can possibly further that interest is a great thing. Many of today’s youth have come to the blazingly apparent realization that the political climate in North America, and for that matter – the rest of the world, is not in a good state, and unless the future politicians and voters of the world start to take notice, things will never change.

My hat goes off to Mark Burnett for this, one of many fantastic ideas. I for one cannot wait to see the idea behind Independent come to fruition.

Heroes Episode 20

This doesn’t happen very often, especially when it comes to Heroes, but I have actually been trying to keep myself from watching or reading any spoilers for Heroes episode 20, and let me tell you, it has been hard. I’ve finally cracked under the pressure, I just couldn’t help it.

Episode 20 is entitled “Five Years Gone” and will take place 5 years in the future, offering a glimpse into exactly how things may come to be. Good heroes go bad, bad heroes reform and some can’t seem to make up there mind. Heroes episode 20 hasn’t even aired yet and is already being compared to such monumental episodes as episode 17 “Company Man”. With that in mind, be prepared for some pretty shocking revelations.

If, like me, you lack an iron will and have to learn what to expect before the episode airs, you can find some fantastic Heroes episode 20 spoiler videos after the jump!

Amazing Race All-Stars Winners

The Amazing Race 10 winner
The Amazing Race 12 winner
The Amazing Race 13 winner
The Amazing Race 14 winner

What can I say, it’s been hard to maintain any kind of interest in Amazing Race All Stars when the order of elimination and winners have already been revealed.

Tonight was the 12th leg of the race and, as I already knew before watching, Danny and Oswald ended up coming in last, earning themselves a one way ticket home. So that leaves us with just 3 remaining teams: Charla and Mirna, Danielle and Eric and Dustin and Kandice. Who do you think is going to walk away with the grand prize? You never know, the leaked information could be wrong.

Just in case you’re curious, you can find the Amazing Race All Stars Winners after the jump. Enjoy!
