the Amazing Race 10: Tyler in Underwear

amazing race 10 tyler in underwear

Well, well, well, if it isn’t everyone’s favorite Amazing Race 10 recovering drug addict/model Tyler (which of the two he’s recovering from is up to you). It’s amazing how reality TV stars seem to pop up in the weirdest places. First we had Ozzy from Survivor Cook Islands bearing all in some hardcore action for Playboy’s reality TV series “Foursome”, then J.P. and Brad of Survivor Cook Islands hooked up, and now we have Tyler confined in a pair of tighty whiteys, gracing a package of Hanes underwear. What’s next?

I knew both Tyler and James were recovering drug addicts and models, but I had just assumed they were high fashion models. Why, I don’t know, but I guess that’s the first thing that comes to mind when I hear the word models. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Tyler or James decked out in an Armani suit or modeling watches for GQ, but Hanes? Come on!

Besides, I would have pegged Tyler as more of a boxers man, myself.

Vegetable Udon Soup Recipe

Last night I dediced to throw something together for dinner using a bunch of the vegetables and various other things we’ve had sitting around for a little while, and I came up with a Vegetable Udon Soup Recipe. The best soups are created when the goal is to use up lots of leftovers and things that have been sitting around for a while, and that exactly how this soup came about. Both Chrys and I thought it turned out great and really enjoyed it. If you give it a shot, I hope you enjoy it too.

Vegetable Udon Soup

“A light broth based soup with a variety of vegetables and hearty Udon noodles. A great winter warm-up soup and a Japanese take on the traditional Chicken Noodle Soup.”

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 large onion, coarsely chopped
  • 1/4 medium cabbage, quarter inch slices
  • 6 heads baby Bok Choy, coarsely chopped
  • 3 stalks celery, quarter inch slices
  • 12 baby carrots, quartered
  • 1 bunch green unions, coarsely chopped
  • 1/2 bunch fresh parsley, coarsely minced
  • 6 cloves garlic, coarsely minced
  • 4 7oz(200g) packs of Udon noodles
  • 6 cups chicken broth/stock, low fat & sodium preferred
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 tablespoon ginger powder
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • salt and pepper to taste

Directions:

  1. Add onion, cabbage, bok choy, celery, carrots, garlic, olive oil, ginger powder, soy sauce and salt and pepper to a large stock pot on medium-high heat. Stir often and cook until vegetable begin to soften or reduce in size roughly 50%, approximately 5 minutes.
  2. Add chicken stock/broth, reduce to medium heat and let simmer for 5 minutes.
  3. Bring soup to a light rolling boil and add Udon noodles, boiling for 3 minutes, or time indicated by Udon noodle package.
  4. Once the Udon noodles are fully cooked, soft but not mushy, add minced parsley and green onions.
  5. Stir thoroughly, simmer for 1 minute and serve.

Information:

This Vegetable Udon Soup Recipe will make 6 – 8 servings and is great on its own, as an appetizer or as a side dish. Substitute any and all vegetables you’d like in this recipe. Experiement with different vegetables, stocks/broths, noodles or even add meat/seafood for a heartier soup. If serving this soup as a meal, a piece of toasted rye bread makes for a great accompaniment.

Feedback:

If you try this soup, or make a modified version of it, I’d love to know how it turns out. Please leave a comment here.

Enjoy!

Nancy Grace Is a “Big Bitch!”

I absolutely HATE Nancy Grace.

In case you don’t know who Nancy Grace is, she is a “show host” of sorts with her own show on CNN. The show is generally a forum for interviews and, I would say debate, but Nancy Grace doesn’t allow people with opinions unlike hers to say much as she has a lifetime subscription to the “i’m right and you’re wrong” mentality on every topic under the sun.

Nancy Grace is also well known for being an incredibly aggressive interviewer. A short while ago she interview 14 year old (I think) Elizabeth Smart so aggressively about what it was like to be abducted and repeatedly sexually assualted that Elizabeth essentially had to tell her to shut the hell up and stop asking her questions like she was.

She performed another interview recently with a woman who’s 2-year old son was abducted and she had the nerve accuse her over and over of abducting or killing her own son. A short time after the interview was recorded, the woman was found dead in her home. She commited suicide. Yet Nancy Grace decided to air the interview anyways. How classy is that?

One of the things that irks me more than anything about Nancy Grace is the fact that she performs all her interviews under the guise of being a caring and concerned person, yet she continually make false accusations of her guests and is incredibly aggresive while interviewing them. That’s no way to treat a person, especially someone that had their 2 yeard child abducted or had been abducted and sexually abused for 8 months. How horrible of a person can you be?

Recently a viewer of Nancy’s show called in and decided to share his opinion of her on live TV. The results are hilarious and incredibly gratifying to hear spoken on national TV. Eat this Nancy Grace:

Survivor Cook Islands: Ozzy Featured in Playboy’s “Foursome”

Well, it happens every time, when a new season of a reality TV show comes out, especially one as popular as Survivor Cook Islands, someone always manages to dig up some dirt on one of the contestants.

This seasons feature is the strapping young Aitutaki member Ozzy, who apparently is about as shy of walking around naked as Richard Hatch, winner of the first season of Survivor.

Ozzy, one of the current favorites to win Survivor Cook Islands, was featured on Playboy TV‘s reality TV series “Foursome.” Foursome was a reality TV dating show that aired on Playboy TV that “captures every passionate moment on tape!”

I can’t wait to hear what other dirt will be dug up on this seasons contestants. This one will be pretty hard to top though, with the shear funny factor of it.

Rock Star Supernova Recap

Rock Star Super Nova is down to the final four and tonight’s show was the last performance show before tomorrow night’s grand finale.

The finale four contenders are Magni, Toby, Dilana and Lukas. It’s been a tight race for most of the show and it’s still all up for grabs.

Ryan Star was apparently picked as the favorite artists, for some reason, and got a chance to come back, sing another crappy song and plug his doomed album.

  • Ryan sang “Back Of Your Car”, which is his original and it sucked as much as it did the first time I heard it.
  • He plugs his new album, which is cleverly titled “Darkhorse” and thanks Dave Navarro for the idea.
  • He also wins Honda’s newly redesigned Honda CRV, yippy.

Now on to the actual show, sorta.

Everything stars off with a recap of the entire season for the final four contestants, shows how people have turned around, gotten better, gotten worse and evolved over the lifespan of the show.

Each rock star gets to sing 1 cover song and their 1 original again.

Toby sing “Kharma Police” by Radiohead

My Thoughts: It was so-so, certainly not great, but not terrible. This is my favorite Radiohead sone of all time, so it’s a hard comparison to make.

Then he sings his original song “Throw It Away”

Dave Navarro liked the set and called it a “great rock show.” Gilby Clarke said he seemed to get “a little lost” at the start of the radiohead song, but he pulled it all together in the end.

My Thoughts: I have to admit, this is a super catchy song, he sang it really well, has a great performance to go along with it and did a fantastic job. He’s going to be a hard one to beat. He also had Magni play backup guitar and he wrote EVS on the back of his head. Toby’s just plain cool.

Lukas sings “Fix You” by Coldplay

My Thoughts: Great performance, great song, by far one of his best performances yet, up their with Creep by Radiohead. He should really stick to these style of songs.

Then he sings his original song “Headspin” with a different arrangement then usual.

Dave Navarro introduces Paula Abdul and says Lukas did a great job, though he questions his performances all season, his multiple singing styles have shown through. Tommy Lee keeps it simple, as always, saying “Wow, cool as hell.” Gilby Clarke kept it simple as well and said “great, so good.”

My Thoughts: The all acousitc version was so much better then the original and I really liked this version. The vocals were much more powerful and he did a fantastic job.

Dilana sings “Roxanne” by The Police

My Thoughts: This acoustic version of the song was really cool. Dilana had great vocals and having Lukas, Toby and Magni sing backup was a great idea. Very good performance.

Then she sings her original song “Supersoul”

She jumps into the crowd, rocks out in front of Supernova, rocks the very back of the crowd, stops to say high to Paula Abdul and finishes the song off in front of Supernova.

Dave says “I think you’re awesome.” Tommy Lee says “We love you” and Gilby Clarke says he “looks forward to seeing you [Dilana] every week.”

My Thoughts: The performance was good, the vocals were so-so, I didn’t like this song the first time and that hasn’t really changed at all.

Magni sings “Hush” by Deep Purple

My Thoughts: The performance was very high energy, magni’s vocals were really good and the guitar and singing work with the house band guitarist was a great touch. Magni has great potential as a front man.

Then he sang his original song “When the Time Comes”

Dave Navarro said “killer job.” Though Tommy Lee disagree completely and said that the other 3 originals were memorable, but Magni’s isn’t memorable at all. Jason Newstead said that he digged the original and Gilby Clarke said “great job! sang great, performed well.”

My Thoughts: Not bad, not great, so-so, not a big fan of the song. He could do a lot better.

So ends the nights performances, now all we can do is wait until tomorrow and the Rock Star Supernova Finale.

The initial rankings for tonight’s show were:

  1. Dilana
  2. Toby
  3. Lukas
  4. Magni

I have to say, I don’t like the looks of the early rankings, though those will certainly change by tomorrow.

Don’t forget to catch tomorrow’s 2-hour season finale at 8:00pm EST/PST on CBS.

Big Brother All Stars Finale Recap

Big Brother 10 winner
Big Brother 9 winner
Big Brother 8 winner

So tonight was the finale of Big Brother All Stars and, though I really liked the season, the finale was a bit lack luster, but I don’t know what I was expecting it to be like either. 😛

Here’s the recap:

Everything starts off with a recap of the entire Big Brother All Stars season, showing just how badly Chill Town worked everyone over. They really did a great job.

Scenes from the Big Brother elimination house:

  • Everyone dicussing who’s going to join them next, some people betting mike, others Janelle, no one seems to bet Erika.
  • Janelle walks in and the show begins.
  • Danielle defends how Erika played the game, said she did as just a good job as everyone else and lied just as much as everyone else as well.
  • Janelle tears on Erika for playing the game poorly and says that a floater should never win the game ’cause she didn’t play it properly.
  • Janelle is all about propping up Chill Town and trys to get everyone to side with Mike Boogie.
  • Howie, idiot of all idiots, defends Erika’s game play and calls her the “best player in Big Brother history.” Yeah… right.
  • Dani make the best comment all night and says “Do not make this personal.” Good girl, a great player through and through.

It’s question time! Just as a side-note, Julie was wearing some monstrosity of a horrible shirt for the show tonight.

Marcellas asked both Erika and Mike Boogie what their best strategic move was.

  • Erika says getting Janelle to vote will out was her best move.
  • Mike Boogie says his best move was not using the Coup power that he won.

George asked Mike Boogie if he’ll be asking his showmance Erika to marry him like he did in the previous Big Brother and asked Erika how she felt about voting him out after telling him he was safe with her.

  • Mike essentially says hell no!
  • Erika says she felt horrible but she had to.

Janelle asked if kissing butt and throwing competitions was part of Erikas strategy.

  • Erika says she only ever threw one game and that she hopes Janelle can respect how she played the game.

James asked Erika how her strategy was different then Janelles (I think?)

  • Erika says she had to battle to survive and played the game how she thought best.

Danielle asked if it was Erika’s decision or Chill Town’s decision to evict her and asked Mike to justify saying she was his Jason.

  • Erika said it may have looked like a Chill Town choice, but in the end it was hers. Not Bloody Likely.
  • Mike says if you look around the house there were lots of Jasons and he doesn’t apologize for anything he did. She seemed to like the answer quite a bit.

Howie asked Mike Boogie what happened to the bro’s before hoes strategy?

  • Mike says that he deserves the credit for getting Howie booted and was responsible for it, to bad so sad.

Dr. Will pulls another phone call bit with Mike Boogie and asked, hey Mike, are you in the final 2?

  • Mike’s response, was of course, Sure am, bwahahahaha.

Big Brother All Stars Winner:

  • Marcellas votes for Erika
  • Howie votes for Mike
  • Danielle votes for Mike
  • George votes for Mike
  • Will votes for, surprise, Mike
  • Janelle votes for Mike
  • James votes for Mike

Erika takes the $50,000 second prize with 1 vote.

Mike Boogie takes the $500,000 grand prize and the crown as winner of big brother all stars.

As an added extra bonus, a Jury prize is awarded to the fan favorite house guest, who happens to be Janelle. Boooooo.

So ends another dramatic season of Big Brother. I wonder what we’re in store for next.
