Big Brother 10 Winner

Following his final HOH win in Big Brother 10 Episode 27, Dan kept his Renegade alliance together and took his buddy Memphis with him to the final two. Now the power shifts to the jury, and tonight we will find out live who the Big Brother 10 winner is.
Like season 9, this season wasn’t bad. On the contrary, it was… good. The best we’ve seen years for that matter. Ironically, the freshest and most original idea CBS has had since introducing the power of veto in season 3 was no idea at all. The return to basics of a bunch of strangers living in a house together struggling for power was a refreshing change of pace from the long lost brother/twin/exes/estranged father and daughter/secret partners nonsense that’s often times plagued the past several seasons.
And the weirdest thing of all is that Survivor didn’t suck this past season either, turning in one of its best seasons ever. Whatever’s in the water at CBS will hopefully stick around for a while.
To boot, we’re left with a final two that’s actually worthy. Often, we’re left with a pair of useless players (i.e. Danielle and her father) or one smooth player alongside a throwaway (see also Drew and Cowboy). The smart money’s still on Dan unless the jury members are more bitter than we already know they are, but I have to give Memphis his due as well.
Both played very different games. Memphis played under radar while getting on everybody’s good side (winning the car on night one notwithstanding). The problem is he stayed under the radar. Dan, meanwhile, tried a revival of the Dr. Will strategy, then he kicked it into high gear and started winning everything, largely as a result of being silly and accepting to be America’s Player. I’m not real clear why Memphis kept him in the game this long all things considered, but when all was said and done, they made a dynamic duo.
Keesha’s still bitter about Memphis and wants to see him eliminated. Ollie is, likewise, bitter, and wants to see Dan eliminated. As they’re discussing how Jerry’s a not very pleasant floater, though, he walks in, so they realize that the “two evil people” as Michelle puts it are in the end. Jerry finally realizes that they are, indeed, an alliance. Keesha takes credit for getting Memphis this far and blames Jerry for letting both of them stick together (rather than letting Keesha and Renny stick together and gang up on him instead). Renny says Memphis is the most insensitive person she’s ever met. Michelle’s still not over being eliminated, even though it was many weeks ago, and her new buddy April’s still kissing her butt for some reason. Jerry says that Memphis let Dan do all the dirty work, though Keesha again takes all the credit. Memphis not winning HOH is allegedly a sore spot among some of these jury members, even though it’s pretty stupid to win HOH more often than not.
Now the jury members get one last opportunity to ask the final two questions. Most will opt to use the time to whine instead.
Libra asks Dan what his most strategic move was. He answers backdooring Michelle.
April basically tells Memphis she’s wasting his time and doesn’t really care for him. At least she hates him less than she hates Dan, though.
Michelle wants to know about the trip from Dan. He wanted to make amends for how he eliminated her. He also probably hoped to get her to stop whining, but that hasn’t happened. As for Memphis, she doesn’t think their alliance benefitted her any, and she doesn’t like that he didn’t win HOH.
Ollie wants to know why Monica’s name was in their deal. Dan essentially answers that it’s because he knew Ollie would be dumb enough to fall for it.
Renny, who’s been against Memphis for quite some time, wants to know one thing that Memphis did for her in the game. He didn’t do anything, nor was he given a reason to.
Keesha can’t wait to ask her question. She’s already whining before Renny’s question is done. She still doesn’t get why Jerry, who got humiliated in the final HOH competitions, was the better selection.
Jerry wants to know if Dan respects anybody in the jury house. Dan answers that he does respect people in the house and that it was just a game, and Jerry replies that he respects Dan, too. Jerry wants to know who Memphis would have taken with him to the final two. Memphis skates around the question (or rather lies). Dan butts into this question quite nicely, saying that Memphis didn’t win the final HOH competition so that he didn’t have to be the bad guy.
Jerry says he’s made his decision based on kindness that he was shown, though he doesn’t elaborate.
Brian congratulates the guys on a job well done and says he noticed that it was never once personal for them. He also mentions that April and Michelle came off as bitter and taking things too personally. He’s not alone.
Steven was most surprised by Jerry, as the Judas comment wasn’t lost on him any more than anyone else.
Julie confirms that there was no plant and no “season long” America’s Player and that America voted to evict Jessie.

Despite the amount of bitterness that was displayed during their last meeting, the jury appears to have settled into voting for who they think played the best game, and Dan gets their unanimous support, a Big Brother first. The Big Brother 10 winner is Dan Gheesling. He wins $500,000. For his trouble, Memphis wins $50,000.
America has voted for their favorite juror, which was a very close vote for the top two. Jerry came in second. In first place and the winner of $25,000 was Keesha (Jerry probably would have won if anybody saw this episode first).
Big Brother 11 is currently in casting, and we can probably expect it to be back again next summer. Hopefully with no stupid twists.
