Big Brother 9 Episode 17

Last night, James went back on his promise to Natalie and nominated Matt as a replacement for Sheila, putting Matt and Ryan in danger of leaving tonight.

Natalie’s obviously upset over the possibility that Matt will leave the house, but in retrospect, she’s ultimately responsible for the outcome this week. All she can do is seek revenge against James.

Sheila assures Ryan: when she makes a decision, it’s a decision. Whatever that means.

Adam’s advice to Matt is to aggressively pursue the others for their votes. He doesn’t care whether it’s a sympathy vote or not. The approach doesn’t work. He gets a bunch of I don’t knows. So his next idea is to confront them and tell them he’s never done anything bad to any of them, whereas Ryan’s a rat who’s screwed over everybody who wants to vote for him to stay. At least it’s better than telling people he doesn’t want to be in sequester for his birthday. Matt does appear to have enough support for a tie, but James is still whining about people lying, so he hates them both.

Julie wants to know why James is a hypocrite. He doesn’t give an answer that makes sense.

Three people believed Allison was going to be in the box. They’re told that Alex was the actual choice. Four people say that if they knew it was Alex in the box, they would have voted to let him in.

It’s Dick and Danielle. How come these people are on my screen again? I may throw up in my mouth again. Danielle tells us she’s no longer dating Nick, though not surprisingly we’re not told that he dumped her for Jen, who Dick was also obsessed over.

It’s all tied up, which means James as HOH must decide who leaves.

Considering the way his entire alliance (of sorts) voted, it’s no surprise that James votes to evict Matt, who is the first member of the jury.

The HOH competition is a Q&A about things the evicted houseguests have said in the diary room. Two people will compete, and whoever proceeds chooses which two people go next. Joshuah and Chelsia are up first. Joshuah gets it wrong and is eliminated. Chelsia selects Natalie and Sheila to face off. Natalie gets it right, and Sheila is eliminated. Chelsia and Sharon are next. Chelsia is correct, and Sharon is eliminated. Adam and Natalie go next. Adam is correct, and Natalie is out. Ryan and Chelsia are next. Chelsia is correct, and Ryan is eliminated. Adam steps up for the final round. Adam is correct and wins HOH. The battle lines are pretty clear here, so I would expect Adam would go after the other side, but you never know with this guy. It was interesting that nobody decided to attack Ryan during this competition. It appears both sides believe they can swing him.

Big Brother 9 Spoilers

Survivor: Micronesia Episode 7

Chet had the opportunity to take control of the game for his allies in Survivor: Micronesia Episode 6, but he was too interested in whining and ended up being voted out himself. Following his injury at the poorly designed challenge, Jonathan was eliminated from the game for medical reasons.

Tracy wants to kill the chickens. For some reason, Ozzy is completely opposed to this and rules it out. Nonetheless, Ozzy remains the provider of his tribe, so she’ll just bite her tongue for now. Erik, meanwhile, wants to be Ozzy.

The reward challenge involves money stones, which were the currency in Micronesia at one time. Reward is a trip to an island for a spa and food. Natalie sits out for Airai. Tribes will guide their giant round stones through a course while blindfolded. Two people who are not blindfolded must guide them and recover the stones under tiles after they’re broken. Airai is the first to finish and move to the puzzle. Malakal passes them on the puzzle and wins reward, though. They send Jason to exile island, along with Tracy (at Ozzy’s request, meaning she misses out on the reward).

While Amanda and Ami strip and take showers with Ozzy in paradise, back at camp, the other tribe is suffering through a monsoon, as Kathy takes on the role of whiner. After about three minutes straight of this, I get the point already. I’m sensing our next quitter here.

The other girls try to talk her out of it, but Kathy has her mind set on leaving the game. Jeff Probst comes to pay her a visit. She says she can’t feel her family, but I’m not sure how heading off to a sequester house will change that.

Prior to the season starting, Probst had this to say about Kathy, “We almost put Kathy on Vanuatu and we didn’t. It’s one thing to have a positive attitude, it’s another to survive 39 days eating some rice, clams, and an occasional fish. I think Kathy’s going to be tested enormously, and the longer she lasts, the tougher it’s going to be unless she can embrace it. It’s not an easy season out there. It rained almost every night we were there, and if you get sent to Exile, it can be brutal.”

This puts the teams even at six and gives us yet another two elimination episode. This also follows on the heels of Jonathan’s exit last week, as he was on this same tribe, keeping things roughly even for the tribe that keeps losing.

Cirie’s getting people around to her way of thinking: that Ozzy’s just out for Ozzy.

The immunity challenge will again be collecting puzzle pieces then solving a puzzle. Tribes will run across a bridge and hook up puzzle pieces, then their teams will reel them back to shore with the rope they attach. Ozzy gets an early lead and is allowed to go a second time, giving Malakal a big lead. Ozzy takes a breather on the third go but goes again on the fourth, and Malakal laps Airai. Malakal is the first tribe to get all five pieces. Airai manages to get their pieces while Malakal is still untying theirs, but they still have a good amount of ground to make up. Despite being behind, Airai once again catch up on the puzzle part, as Eliza and Jason finish the puzzle to win immunity for Airai.

The girls apologize to Ozzy, but he doesn’t seem real concerned because he feels safe. Once again, there’s a plan to go against Ozzy. Ami approaches Tracy to take out Ozzy, who doesn’t want Erik gone unlike the other girls because Erik worships him. Ami’s thinking of a 3-2-1 vote.

Ozzy’s name is brought up a bunch at tribal council, but he again doesn’t appear overly worried.

Once again they didn’t have much choice, even if they’re probably going to regret it in the long run.

Unlike this week’s schedule change, it appears the next episode will be delayed a week and still air on Thursday.

Big Brother 10 Confirmed

The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that Big Brother will be back for a 10th season, which will as usual be a summer edition. Considering its competition (American Idol), Big Brother 9 has performed decently, even if it’s getting crushed in the ratings like everything else that goes up against Idol. A premiere date is not yet known, but the show typically starts right around the 4th of July.

Big Brother 9 Episode 16

Following his return to the house, James won an endurance competition in Big Brother 9 Episode 15. During the competition, he made a deal with Natalie to not nominate her or Matt. Following this, he made it his mission to make sure the liars in the house paid, nominating Ryan and Sheila.

It’s time for another episode of Bible Buddies. They’re trying to figure out where the holy grail is.

Now that she’s on the block, Sheila takes the opportunity to apologize to Adam for how she treated him at the beginning of the game.

They’re trying to figure out where the third mystery box vote was. Natalie pretends that it was Adam, but Sharon’s not buying.

Sheila’s losing it, becoming even more of an emotional wreck than she was to begin with. The house decides to play a trick on her. They wake her up and pretend the POV is going on in the backyard.

It’s now time to pick players for the real veto competition.

James randomly selects Matt to play for veto.

Ryan randomly selects Joshuah, believing their alliance will hold.

They walk outside and see a huge guinea pig cage. They’ll need to transport wooden blocks across balance beams two at a time. Whoever falls or drops blocks is eliminated. Matt is the first to fall, saying he didn’t put forth his best effort, which to me doesn’t make a lot of sense. Ryan is the next to fall. Chelsia’s off to the lead, with James close behind. Sheila’s way behind but hopes somebody else will slip and fall from going too fast. She drops a block while trying to retrieve a block from the box, though, and is the next person out of the competition. 1 hour and 13 minutes in, Chelsia continues to lead, but she loses her balance and is out. James manages to get all of his blocks, and he is the winner of the power of veto. He’s happy he has a chance to shake things up, though unless he really doesn’t want one of these people to go, pissing off a third person doesn’t make much sense.

Natalie tells Sheila that if things stay the same, it will be really hard for her to choose between the two. Sheila is pissed off about this, too. Her conversation with Adam, who says he doesn’t want to think about it until after the veto ceremony, leads her to believe she’s all alone in the house. She goes to talk to James and throws Adam under the bus. He suggests that maybe Matt or Adam will leave this week because neither will come clean about the vote. Adam tries to convince James he’s not the third vote, but he doesn’t help his case any.

James tells Chelsia he’s going to use the power of veto to put Adam up.

Before making a decision, he wants to talk to Sharon first. On her way up to his room, she demonstrates her terrible acting skills. When she arrives up there, she tells him Matt was the third vote “for a fact.” His new plan is to take Sheila off the block and put up Matt.

As planned, James removes Sheila and places Matt on the block in her place. James, who claims to be the only honest person in the house and who says he’s punishing people for being liars, has gone back on his word to keep Matt safe. Apparently, lying is only okay if you’re lying to someone who lied to you. I’m good with the lying in this game. I’m just not thrilled with hypocrites who pretend to take the high road and then do the same thing they whine about others doing. As far as I’m concerned, if you’re going to be a liar, be an honest liar.

Big Brother 9 Spoilers

Beauty and the Geek 5 Episode 2

This year’s lame twist turned out to be as bad as last year’s lame twist in Beauty and the Geek 5 Episode 1. In a competition based show, a wrench like beauty vs. the geek gives one or more people an obvious advantage in the challenges.

Tara’s not happy to see Jonathan come back. She thinks he’s just odd.

Amber thinks Tom’s good looking and hopes that one day he will be really rich and take care of her. For some reason, he likes her, too.

The next challenge is a talent show. The girls are worried that they’re talentless. The guys may have less self confidence, but they’re confident they’re more talented than the girls are. The beauties spend their time bickering. The geeks are working on… a rap?

The beauties eventually give up and decide to play spin the bottle instead.

Amber reveals to the other beauties that she’s just playing Tom so she doesn’t go into the elimination room.

The beauties have finally come up with something. They’re going to do a dance routine dressed up like Britney Spears (before the children/losing her mind). Unfortunately, there’s no actual “routine” to their dance routine, so they just do random dances. The crowd hates them.

The geeks are a whole different story. Their hodge podge of talents comes together well to form an entertaining and funny show.

Unsurprisingly, the geeks win the challenge. Amanda realizes that they failed to use something other than their beauty, thereby failing to realize the whole point of the challenge. At least she’s showing some growth, even if her teammates aren’t. The geeks will be able to send 5 of them to the elimination room.

Some of the girls are studying. Some of them would rather try to sell themselves. Amber continues working the Tom angle. Leticia and Tiffany hop in the hot tub because they feel studying is beneath them. The guys appear naive enough to fall for this. What this also accomplishes is it gets the other girls to hate them.

The geeks focus on who they want to keep. They turn this into an excessively complicated Congressional measure. Even some of the geeks are confused by it.

Amber (who blames a “certain person” on her team), Amanda, Randi, Kristina, and Jillian. Amber disputes the fact that Leticia hasn’t been sent to the elimination room, and on this point, I agree with her. Leticia’s wasting space there in hopes of getting an extra modelling gig. Not that Amber’s any better.

Amanda knows Chicago is in Illinois and is safe. Kristina is the next one safe by knowing the name of a play. Jillian knows math and is also safe. So it’s down to Amber and Randi. Randi knows the question about hookers, and Amber is eliminated. She says the experience hasn’t changed her any. She is willing to talk to Tom if he still wants to talk to her after this, though she’s not interested in having him as a boyfriend.

Big Brother 9 Episode 15

After voting out James 5-1, the house decided to let him come back in the house in Big Brother 9 Episode 14. They’re either really stupid, or, well, yeah, that about sums it up. Oops. Sorry America for wasting your time with the last pointless week and also for pretending you had a vote. We left off in the middle of an endurance HOH competition.

James wants to win HOH because his dignity is on the line. Apparently being voted out of the Big Brother house means being stripped of your dignity.

Natalie explains her vote to bring James back. She stabbed her alliance in the back, but she would be redeeming herself and giving her word back to James. I still don’t get it.

Adam’s the first one out of the HOH competition at 15 minutes. Joshuah is next out. Matt’s out at 40 minutes. Sheila admits that she was one of the people who voted for the mystery guest, saying that Alex didn’t get a chance the first time. She falls at an hour.

At 2 hours 31 minutes, Sharon’s the next person to fall. Matt and Ryan are getting concerned that Adam will be turning on them if they’re no longer in power. Matt promises to give Natalie her massage if she wins. James warns that since he was backdoored (because he played a dumb game), he’s going to backdoor someone else. Chelsia is the next one to fall at 3 hours 19 minutes. James offers a deal. Ryan must go on the block no matter what, and if Natalie agrees, James will drop. Ryan doesn’t want her to take the deal. 7 minutes later, Natalie comes up with a counteroffer, asking for safety for herself and Matt. James agrees, and Natalie drops. If she hadn’t voted him back in the house, she would have won HOH. Since she didn’t, James has. James lets everybody know he sticks to his word unlike everybody else in the house. I’ll believe it when I see it.

Natalie finally figures out how to get a massage from Matt. She has to hang on a disco ball for hours. There’s some chat about how they’re still partners. Matt refuses to admit that it wasn’t him who voted for the mystery box. Josh brings this up to Adam because he wants to know who the third vote is (he also doesn’t want James to turn on him just yet).

James has his targets already in mind as to who’s the biggest threat to him, but at the end of the day, he doesn’t trust anybody in the house since they all voted against him. Back in week three, he was the person saying “It’s just a game.” Now he’s pissed off at everybody for playing that game.

James gives a speech at the nomination ceremony about how he doesn’t like that he was lied to, and that all people have in the house is their word.
