Survivor: Micronesia Winner

The women have been in control ever since Ozzy got himself kicked out of the game, and Erik being an even bigger putz than Ozzy (or anyone previously for that matter) in Survivor: Micronesia Episode 13 continued that cycle, bringing us down to all women left. That leaves us with a female final four of: Cirie Fields (Survivor: Panama), Parvati Shallow (Survivor: Cook Islands), Amanda Kimmel (Survivor: China), and Natalie Bolton (fan).

Of these, Cirie has surprised me the most. Back when the season started I expected very little from her. I expected her to make it to the final five as a non-threatening player, but she’s proved to be more of a gamer than I had anticipated and has played a key role in many of this season’s boots.

Amanda was a deserving finalist in Survivor: China, but she made the mistake of keeping Todd in the game again and again and again. This time, though, she’s been just as strong a player as she was last time, but she’s set herself up really well with the jury. Unlike last year’s bitter and stupid jury that gave Courtney of all people more votes than Amanda, this season, the jury seems to love Amanda.

Even though the others protested too much and voted that Parvati mistakenly believed she was in control of the game, Parvati was in control then, and she’s still in control now, alongside her unwavering ally Amanda. This season, Parvati has gone beyond being just the flirt, and that combined with her strategic moves and alliances has made her a dangerous player.

Then there’s Natalie. It wasn’t that long ago that I even found out there was a Natalie on the island. Alexis aside, I don’t see what Natalie can do to actually get jury votes. Granted, like the other fans, Natalie did get the short end of the stick this season. Not only did they have to take on the more seasoned favorites, but so much attention was paid to the favorites that people like Natalie and Alexis remained largely invisible for more than half the season.

So that sets us up for the season finale, which begins in a few minutes in the typical format: two hour season ender, followed by the one hour reunion show in which we will find out who the Survivor: Micronesia winner is. Stay tuned to dingoRUE for a live blog.

Here’s the really weird thing. The recap of what has been a great season only took 5 minutes.

The girls are thrilled to see Erik go because now it makes immunity anybody’s game. In addition to the fact that it was just a(nother) priceless blindside.

Natalie believes that Parvati, who has everybody in her back pocket, is now her ally.

Now it’s the final immunity challenge, typically a harsh endurance competition. Except this season apparently. The women will start off on a perch 20 feet up and must use a bucket to raise a pole that will bring them keys that they must grab when they get high enough. Natalie is the first one to get her keys. She’ll need to jump in the water and swim to shore. Parvati is right behind Natalie. When they get to shore, they open their chests to find ladder rungs that they’ll need to assemble. Amanda is next to get her keys, with Cirie behind her. There are 16 ladder rungs, and each one will only go into one slot on the ladder. It’s largely about dumb luck at this point, as all the women are building their ladders. Amanda takes a big lead, and it’s her challenge to lose. Amanda is the first to raise her flag, and she wins the immunity challenge, guaranteeing herself a spot in the final three for the second season in a row.

Natalie’s well aware she’s the low woman on the totem pole. She’s going to explore all her options. Whatever that may mean. Unlike last time, she doesn’t have anyone to give her a brilliant plan, though.

Parvati and Amanda retain control, as everybody knows Amanda won’t vote Parvati out, and Amanda’s safe. So it’s probably either Cirie or Natalie. The good news for Natalie is that they know that Cirie’s a bigger threat in the end than Natalie is. Despite having a final three agreement with Parvati and Amanda, Cirie has seen how this season has played out and knows she may be in danger.

Natalie says she doesn’t believe there will be a blindside tonight. The jury thinks she’s silly. Jeff poses a question: what would happen if there’s a final two instead of a final three? Cirie’s worried about being on the bottom again. She speaks up to say that she’s been on the bottom all the time. This is a poor display in front of the jury.

Natalie has been voted out. No surprise to anyone.

The girls get back to the discussion at tribal council where Cirie said she’s on the bottom. It’s true, but it’s not a bright thing to vocalize. During the middle of a screaming match, Amanda breaks down crying. She especially doesn’t like the theory that there may be a final two.

They try to let Gloria, their last remaining chicken, go, but the chicken doesn’t want to go. She makes a nest to lay her eggs.

Treemail. Looks like a challenge. Yep, there’s one last immunity challenge. It’s a final two. The clear clue here was the previous immunity challenge, which was atypical in that it wasn’t a lengthy endurance competition. The lack of a rights of passage was also a big hint. Probst poked them about it at tribal, but there’s always the chance that he’s just being Jeff. Amanda breaks down again, a bad time to be losing focus since this challenge has the potential to be particularly difficult. She better pull it together.

After a long walk of looking back at the eliminated players, the final three arrive at the (actual) final immunity challenge. Each person has a long wooden cylinder that has been cut into several pieces. They must balance a ball on it. Every 5 minutes, the cylinder gets longer, making it more difficult. If the ball drops, they’re out of the challenge. Everybody is still in after 5 minutes. They all continue with no signs of difficulty through the second round, then they add two more pieces. Parvati is the first one out. Either way, she’s got a good shot of being brought to the final two, though. Amanda and Cirie survive the third round. They add two more pieces. Cirie drops the ball, but it’s during the 5 second grace period prior to the round beginning. Both of them survive this round, and they move on to the final round. The two final pieces are added. This round will go until somebody drops their ball. Cirie is out. Amanda once again wins immunity.

Cirie feels she’s probably going home. The smart move would be to keep Cirie around, but at the same time, there’s a question as to whether she wants to turn on her closest ally. Although Cirie did screw a lot of people over, my bigger concern for her would be that she doesn’t have the personal relationships that Parvati does. She also may not get as much credit as she deserves.

Amanda says she’s going with her gut. The jury doesn’t appear to appreciate this long drawn out discussion.

Vote
Cirie

As expected. Amanda and Parvati remain together and go to the final two. Erik, Natalie, and Cirie really should have teamed up to take them out, though I don’t know that that necessarily would have been any more beneficial to Cirie than this way (and it would have been less entertaining). The question for Amanda is: did she make the same mistake she made by keeping Todd around in China?

Amanda plans to play the loyalty card; Parvati plans to play the controlling card.

Eliza says she doesn’t know who she’s going to vote for. She respects the strategic move Parvati made to take out Ozzy but doesn’t like how she treated her as a person. She feels that, strategic game aside, Amanda is too superficial and that listening to her talk made her want to kill herself sometimes (something people said about Eliza during her season).

Jason asks if Amanda would have told Ozzy he was going if she knew about the plan. She says yes. Parvati believes that her loyalty to Cirie and Amanda is her redeeming quality. She’s also an animal lover for not killing the chicken.

Alexis wants to know why Parvati’s a better role model. She says she’s more independent and outspoken, whether that’s for better or worse. Alexis doesn’t believe that Amanda is genuine, and Amanda tells her she didn’t fake the tears and doesn’t want sympathy votes.

Natalie asks Parvati a question about how being a flirt relates to her intimate life in the bedroom. What the hell does this have to do with anything? Natalie calls Amanda a zombied pretty girl pageant queen and asks if that was strategy. Yeah, this doesn’t make a great deal more sense. Why did they let Natalie talk?

Erik claims he would have voted for Amanda before he went all stupid, but now he has questions. She apologizes. He’s still bitter that he’s an idiot.

Parvati tells James that she couldn’t win if she stuck with him and Ozzy.

Amanda tells Cirie that Parvati deserves the money more than Cirie does because she made bolder decisions. Cirie wants to know from Parvati why Parvati should be sitting in the jury instead. Her response is that Cirie played a great game but was more under the radar.

Ozzy believes he’s the biggest idiot up there, and he’s still bitter over what happened three weeks ago. Get over it, dude. He tears Parvati apart for throwing away their friendship. Oh geez. Whine whine whine. This is like Lex in All Stars, who apparently was still reeling by the time Big Brother All Stars came around. He doesn’t want to hear a response from Parvati but instead wants to tell Amanda that he’s falling in love with her.

Despite his earlier whining, Erik votes for Amanda anyway.

Alexis (it is Alexis, right?) votes for Parvati because she likes her better.

Obviously, Ozzy votes for Amanda.

Eliza’s still deciding, pausing for dramatic effect.

With the conclusion of the final tribal council, we head back to the States for the reunion show and a live reading of the votes for the winner.

The winner of Survivor: Micronesia Fans Vs. Favorites is Parvati. It’ll be interesting to see how the jury answers the question as to how they would have voted if Cirie were there instead, but taking Parvati with her was a very risky move by Amanda.

Parvati says she hoped to play the flirt, but when Jonathan started to target her, she decided to get more aggressive.

Amanda now holds the record for number of days on the show, and she’s dragged both of her original alliances to the end… though in each case she didn’t win.

Cirie says she’s spent every single night thinking about the last immunity challenge and that losing that was her only mistake in the game.

Natalie’s okay with having some haters. She wanted to play under the radar, which she did quite well. After some pushing, she admits that she can be a bit of a bitch sometimes.

Ozzy has gotten over what happened on the island and says the relationship has healed and Parvati’s an amazing girl. It took a bit of time, but it’s nice to see that mature attitude finally develop.

Erik agrees he’s gotten a life lesson from the women blindsiding him. He initially thought that it was a stupid move, but he doesn’t entirely regret it because he’s not conniving enough to turn on people like you need to do in order to win Survivor.

James has welcomed a lot of people to his dumb Survivor group. He responds that, of the three moves, Erik made the dumbest move, taking his lifevest off and giving it away. He removes his crown and gives it to Erik.

It’s an injury montage, much of which was caused by poor challenge design.

Jonathan’s leg is okay now. James’ finger is also okay. He continues to get hit on at the graveyard. Kathy explains more why she’s a quitter.

Ozzy and Amanda are still together. In addition to them, Mary fell in love with Ryan from Survivor: Pearl Islands. He asked her to marry him three days after their first date. Three whole days?

Amanda, Ozzy, and James received the most votes for favorite players. One of them will win $100,000. Unsurprisingly, James has won this vote.

Jonny Fairplay found love with Michelle Deighton and has a daughter named Piper. Yeah, weird.

Mikey B lost his mom, who got sick around the time he left for the island, a month ago.

That concludes this season of Survivor. A lot of people (myself included) had been saying that the past few seasons have been getting boring, largely due to poor casting. However, between this season and Survivor: China, it appears to be back on track, as these have been two of the best seasons ever. Hopefully they can keep it going, though this season with all the half stars is going to be tough to top.

Survivor 17 will be returning to Africa. They will be heading to Gabon. Survivor: Gabon Earth’s Last Eden will be shot for the first time in HD. This is the first time Survivor has been to Africa since season 3. That season has long been known to have been a difficult season to shoot. The dustbowl atmosphere with no food collecting combined to make it one of the harshest environments faced by Survivors (and didn’t help the producers get a lot of bikini shots either). As always, stay tuned to dingoRUE for live recaps from the east coast.

Survivor: Micronesia Episode 13

The girls have been in control of the game, but following Erik’s immunity win in Survivor: Micronesia Episode 12, they had to turn on each other. Amanda was voted off the island 4-2, but since she played the hidden immunity idol, the person with the next most votes, Alexis, was sent home, thus making Amanda an even bigger hero to the jury.

Erik felt like a fool at tribal council, and he’s pissed off about it. He’s hoping to be exiled and get the idol. How many hidden idols are there anyway?

Amanda believes Cirie’s on her side, and it’s obvious Parvati is as well. They hope to be able to get her into Erik’s head and pretend she’s forgiven everything. She approaches him and tells him whoever wins should take the other one on the reward (to prevent him from going to Exile Island). She asks him to send her good buddy Parvati to Exile instead.

The reward challenge is about favorite moments from past seasons of Survivor. Reward is a helicopter flight to a luxury resort for a massage, meal, and overnight stay. Jeff tells us there is yet another (emphasis on another) hidden immunity idol. Cirie and Erik know Rupert from Pearl Islands had a pet snake. Natalie and Amanda know that Richard Hatch bit a shark in All Stars. Erik knows John asked Kathy to pee on him in Marquesas. Cirie, Parvati, and Erik know that Michael Skupin fell in the fire in Australia. Cirie, Natalie, and Erik know that Exile Island was the first season that the teams were divided into four teams. Erik wins reward. He sends Parvati to Exile Island. Natalie’s not happy. Amanda’s thrilled, and even happier that he’s going to take her with him on the reward.

Cirie has fun screwing with Natalie’s mind.

A part of Erik wanted to spend some time with Amanda. He doesn’t say which part. He’s happy he took her instead of Natalie, who he doesn’t trust. If Amanda’s smart, she’ll keep the guy in her back pocket and dump Natalie, who nobody trusts. Erik says he’s just not used to being in a power position or making decisions.

Parvati doesn’t look like she could care less that she’s on Exile Island. She’s working on her tan first. A very silly move for a half star. She feels way too comfortable.

Natalie doesn’t even try to hide the fact that she’s upset with Erik. She won’t look at or talk to him. The eavesdropping she does to hear Erik and Cirie plotting doesn’t help him any, though it may give Natalie some ammo to approach Amanda with, as he’s targeting one of them but not sure which one.

It’s not long before the girls all realize that he’s telling them each different things, and he knows the fact they’re sitting together is a bad thing. Amanda tells him he might consider picking a side.

At the immunity challenge, they’ll need to find a spot with a set of coordinates, dig down, get some puzzle pieces, solve a puzzle for more coordinates, and repeat. The first person to solve all three puzzles wins immunity. Erik is the first to get a bag of pieces. Cirie is behind him, with Amanda behind her. Erik has solved his first puzzle, followed by Cirie. Natalie has her first bag of pieces, and Erik’s behind her with his second set. Amanda has solved her first puzzle. Natalie has solved her first puzzle, and Erik’s now done with his second. Parvati’s not even a factor but solves her first puzzle eventually. Erik, who’s obviously going to be the winner of this challenge, has his third bag of puzzle pieces. Erik wins immunity and has guaranteed himself a spot in the final four.

Natalie wants to know if it’s her. Cirie tells her it probably is since Erik has immunity. Cirie wonders if he would give her the necklace. She doesn’t know who would fall for it. Parvati wants to see him become a putz like Ozzy and Jason, and the girls get her to go along. She makes a pitch to him. It’s an iffy pitch, but he goes to Cirie to verify.

The plan is simple. If he gives up immunity to prove he trusts them, Cirie and Natalie will vote along with him to get rid of Amanda. He would have to be monumentally stupid to agree to this, but it looks like it may be working. He decides he wants to vote out Parvati instead of Amanda. Cirie has no trouble agreeing to this since it really doesn’t matter. As additional ammo, Parvati and Amanda will attack Erik at tribal council, while Natalie and Cirie keep their mouths shut.

As planned, Parvati and Amanda attack Erik when they do get to tribal and refuse to accept his apology. Erik knows he doesn’t have the jury votes, and the jury seems to agree. I’d rather finish second or third than risk fifth like this, though. It’s not as if taking a risk like this would even impress them anyway.

Erik has decided to give immunity to Natalie. The jury finds this hilarious. Jenna is the only other person to have done this, giving it to Heidi in Survivor: Amazon. She went on to win regardless (yeah, she sucked at the game, too).

Survivor: Micronesia Episode 12

The women took control of the island in Survivor: Micronesia Episode 11, and despite James’ silly suggestion to target Parvati, the girls worked together to vote Jason out and get rid of his hidden immunity idol in the process, making him the second person in a row to be voted out despite having a safety net in his back pocket.

At the conclusion of the last tribal council, Jeff told James that he had to get his finger checked out by medical. Last time this happened was with Jonathan, who had to quit because his injury was too great to overcome. They warn James that he’s got overnight to heal, or he’ll need to go into surgery.

Alexis is also injured. She was walking in the dark and fell. Cirie’s happy to see this. It means two less people to worry about.

The families are here. The winner will go to jellyfish lake, where they will swim with thousands of non-stinging jellyfish. Additionally, a new idol has been hidden, and exile island is back in play. Gee, what a surprise.

It’s the majority rules pecking order challenge. Everybody but James answers James for who does the most for the tribe. Cirie and Alexis are the only ones who don’t take a hit. Parvati never shuts up. Amanda, James, Alexis, and Erik get it right. Erik, Alexis, and James are down to one rope. Parvati mistakenly thinks she’s in control of the game, which everybody but Alexis and Parvati gets right. Cirie knocks out Parvati. Alexis is the most honest, and Cirie is the only one who gets it right. Cirie knocks out Erik. James is least likely to get invited to a family dinner. Almost everybody gets it right. James is knocked out. Amanda knocks out Natalie. Cirie is out but is the deciding factor. She takes out Amanda, and Alexis wins reward. She picks Cirie and Natalie to go along with her, and she sends Amanda (who isn’t allowed a hug goodbye from her sister) to exile island.

On his way out, James has to get his finger checked out. The doctor decides it’s too big a risk for James to stay in the game, so has to leave the game and head to the hospital.

Amanda heads to exile island and starts searching for the idol. She manages to find all the clues, including the final one that tells her it’s buried at camp under the tribe flag.

The girls, who are in a girl power alliance, know they now need to beat Erik at the next challenge.

Alexis doesn’t want to be voted out, despite her injury.

Natalie’s concerned about Amanda, but Parvati won’t turn on her.

The immunity challenge is to fire a high-powered rifle and break three sake bottles.

Amanda tells the others that she doesn’t have the idol and empties out her bag to prove it. She’s protesting a bit too much here. Makes me wonder whether anyone will catch on. She approaches Parvati and asks for her assistance to dig it up. Parvati wants to take out Alexis; Amanda wants to take out Natalie.

The girls had been considering taking Erik under their wing, but he tells Amanda he wants either her or Parvati gone. He tells her he’s decided on her, and he approaches the girls to get rid of Amanda.

Amanda suggests a tie, but Cirie doesn’t want to leave it up to the purple rock.

Amanda knows she’s gone, so she starts digging under the flag. Parvati stalls the others for her.

James is at tribal council with an IV bag, but he’s doing okay.

Amanda lets it be known she’s pissed off at Erik. Natalie’s concerned about Amanda because she’s a jury threat. Cirie considers Amanda the physical threat (aside from Erik).

It should come as no surprise that Amanda has found and played the hidden idol. You thought she was a threat before? The jury looks like they love her now.

Survivor: Micronesia Episode 11

Ozzy finally realized he wasn’t the genius he thought he was in Survivor: Micronesia Episode 10, as he was blindsided by his allies for being too big of a threat.

Parvati knows she needs to do some damage control since James and Amanda are pissed at her. She admits the girl power alliance to James, though. He tells her it’s gonna be awkward and that she’s selfish, not stupid. Unlike James, Amanda plays nice, to their faces anyway.

It’s time for the Survivor auction. Cirie spends $120 on a mystery dish: hot dog and french fries. Erik buys a covered item for $80 and is given the option for trading for another covered item. He passed up the octopus. He gets a huge tray of nachos. Natalie gets a bowl of bats. She doesn’t want it, but James does. Amanda bids $280 for peanutbutter & jelly and a glass of milk. Natalie bids $240 on a covered item, which is a bottle with a note: she picks someone to go to exile immediately and takes all the money they have left. A new idol has been hidden. Oh. Damnit. If the people are smart enough to get rid of it, don’t replant the damn thing. This is just wrong and stupid. Jason goes to exile. Natalie uses Jason’s cash to buy a chocolate cake and a note. She has to pick three people, and she picks the girls: Parvati, Cirie, and Alexis. They have 60 seconds to eat as much cake as they can. They’re going to regret this. Erik offers $40 to lick Cirie’s fingers.

Everybody wants Jason gone, but the problem is that now they’ve decided to send him to exile island, where he has a chance to find the new (and stupid) hidden immunity idol. Last time he managed to find the hidden immunity idol stick without much trouble. He believes he can trust Natalie, and if he finds the idol, he’d like to use it to help her. As expected, Jason finds the idol, one that’s not a stick with a happy face.

The girls have a plan to blindside Jason into not using his immunity, as they believe he trusts Natalie. Failing that, they hope to get rid of James instead.

The immunity challenge consists of multiple rounds. The first to finish move on to the next round. Natalie whispers to Jason that James is going home and that she sent him to exile for a reason. Jason, Erik, James, and Amanda are the first to break their tiles with rocks and move on to the second round. In this round, they must dig for a key, build a puzzle wheel, lower their planks, and cross them. James and Erik move on. In the final round, they’ll cross a rope bridge using planks. James falls and loses a lot of time. He manages to recover and gains a lot of ground, but it’s not enough to beat Erik across. Erik wins immunity.

When Jason leaves, they search his bag as planned and find out he’s got the idol. He admits to Natalie that he found it anyway. She calls herself a stone cold bitch and is loving it.

James wants to vote out Parvati, but Amanda doesn’t think Jason will play his idol just yet, though James can’t imagine anyone being voted out with an idol in their back pocket (or two).

Ozzy still doesn’t look happy. Jeff points out the obvious: James is a big physical threat. Jason does not play his idol.

Jason is the second person in a row to be blindsided based at least in part on having the hidden idol. Don’t worry, though. Probst will probably hide another one. Or two. I’ve got an idea. Why not just give everybody a hidden idol and turn the show into Survivor: Forever Eden?

At the end of the day, I don’t think it really matters that Jason didn’t play the idol. If he didn’t go, James would have gone, then Jason would be gone next week. Based on the votes, though, had Amanda followed James’ advice and voted Parvati, it would have forced a tie.

Survivor: Micronesia Episode 10

Following a merger in Survivor: Micronesia Episode 9, Eliza and Jason found themselves outcasts. After Jason won immunity, he gave Eliza his hidden immunity stick, which she played knowing that it was fake just to out Ozzy as the actual hidden immunity idol holder. Ozzy didn’t even try to cover it up and openly admitted he does indeed have the idol.

In the reward challenge, players will swim out and through a net tunnel, memorize symbols, and swim back to match the symbols on shore. To make things more difficult, there are spare pieces that won’t be used. The winning team will fly to enjoy dancing, a feast, and an overnight stay at a village in Yap. Jason and Natalie are captains.

Jason’s team: Ozzy, Erik, Amanda
Natalie’s team: James, Parvati, Alexis

Cirie is not chosen and is heading to Exile Island.

So who’s actually winning here? Yeah, that much I can’t tell you. There’s no indication who’s doing better. Probst warns it’s better to be right than fast. Natalie thinks she’s got it, but she’s wrong. Jason’s team wins reward.

After being served lunch by a topless lunch lady, Erik has some beer and betel nut, which he later loses after vomiting, but he’s still having a lot of fun.

Cirie’s suffering over on exile because it’s a miserable place to be, and there’s no point in being there anyway. Perhaps it’s time to target Ozzy.

James is hard at work as usual, but Parvati doesn’t appreciate it because he’s keeping her awake. James isn’t happy with her, and Amanda returns and tells him she’s not as close since the merge.

When they get back, Jason, Erik, and Amanda downplay their trip, but Ozzy goes on and on about how great it was and exactly what they had to eat.

It’s the hand tied to a bucket challenge. This normally goes a few hours. At 20 minutes, Jeff offers a bowl of candy. Erik and Cirie both drop out. Erik’s position has certainly improved if he feels comfortable enough to quit a challenge for some gummy worms. The next offer is a chocolate chip cookie and milk. Alexis gets so excited and is out. Natalie loses her concentration and is out. James follows right behind. None of them get the cookie and milk because none of them asked for it. His next offer is three chocolate donuts. Ozzy takes him up on the offer. At 5 hours, Amanda quits because she has to go to the bathroom. 6 hours in, Jeff offers everything he’s offered before and more, including pizza and beer. If somebody steps down, everybody else gets to share. The group starts talking about making a deal with Jason. After some chatting, he gets everybody to agree to keep him safe. The crossed fingers suggest they’re not all telling him the truth. Either he gives them some trust now and takes the risk, or he’ll have difficulty earning trust later anyway. Jason steps down, and Parvati wins immunity. I gotta wonder why she held on for so long, though.

When they get back, everybody immediately starts talking about getting rid of Jason. Ozzy calls it one of the dumbest moves in Survivor history. If Jason didn’t do it, though, he’d have had to play Ozzy’s game from his last season: win every challenge but have no social game, thereby losing in the end if you make it that far. Cirie’s not happy with this talking and instead would rather take out Ozzy because he feels too safe. She goes to the girls (except Amanda) to blindside Ozzy and take out the hidden idol.

James is worried about Parvati going for girl power, and Ozzy’s a little concerned but pretty comfortable.

James suggests at tribal council that maybe people just wanted a damn donut.

Survivor: Micronesia Episode 9

Ami tried to get the favorites on her side in Survivor: Micronesia Episode 8, but Ozzy kept his pet around instead, so Ami was voted off the island.

Eliza and Jason hope it was Erik, though both of them know they’re outcasts either way. He tells her he’s got the hidden immunity idol.

Treemail suggests it’s time to merge. Immediately means right now. Erik knows he’s allied with Ozzy now because he’s a monkey or something.

Parvati’s got an alliance with the favorites, as well as her girl power alliance of herself, Amanda, Natalie, and Alexis, the latter two I swear are actually on the island (somewhere).

Eliza’s upset to see that Ami’s gone because Ami is her closest ally/friend, odd considering how things went down in their season.

It’s officially time to merge, and everybody wants to go back to Malakal. They get some bats to eat. I hope they’re to eat anyway because James grabs it like it’s KFC. At Erik’s suggestion, the new tribe name is Dabu, which he claims means good, even though it’s just a made up word.

Ozzy’s hooking up with somebody new, Alexis. Amanda’s not happy. Bye bye girl power alliance.

Jason takes the first opportunity he can to hide his hidden immunity stick. He hopes he doesn’t forget where he hid it.

Eliza tries to get a commitment out of Parvati. She gets an “I don’t know.” Parvati doesn’t trust her at all, in which case I’d suggest lying to her. She tells Amanda she wants to target Eliza next, then she tells her she’s in an alliance with the two fan girls, one she never agreed to or knew about. Amanda’s now pissed off at Parvati.

Jason tells Eliza that if he wins immunity, he’ll give her his hidden idol.

The challenge is to take a spot under a grate in the water as the tide rises. Whoever stays there longest wins. At first it’s just a waiting game until the tide rises to start covering their heads. Amanda is first out. At 45 minutes, Parvati and Alexis are out. Cirie follows. Natalie is next, followed by Eliza. Erik is next. At 1 hour, James is out. Ozzy is out next, and Jason wins immunity.

Now he can give his hidden idol to Eliza. This won’t go over well.

Eliza’s still Parvati’s target, and she knows it. She asks Jason to give her the idol. Their plan hinges on the idol, and they plan to vote out Ozzy. He leaves the idol in her bag. Unlike him, she immediately knows it’s not the idol. It can’t be the idol. “Because it’s just a stick.”

Amanda and Cirie want to get rid of Alexis, and Cirie wants her to know that Ozzy’s playing her.

Alexis tells Jeff Probst Eliza played (past tense) a strong game but was not good socially. Ozzy and James know that it wouldn’t be a bad idea to take Eliza to the end. Parvati lets her know without question she wants her gone.

Eliza decides she’s got nothing to lose, so she plays the stick, primarily to reveal that Ozzy has the real one so people go after him next. He willingly admits this is true.

I think it’s safe to say they got rid of the biggest threat, although Ozzy with his hidden idol and as an immunity threat should probably be dealt with sooner than later. Jason’s revealed himself as even more of an outcast than previously thought. It’s no longer fans vs. favorites, so I might have to actually learn who all these fans are.

Survivor: Micronesia Episode 8

We’re now past CBS’ successful effort at confusing everybody as to when Survivor would actually be on. Two weeks ago on the Wednesday airing of Survivor: Micronesia Episode 7, two more castaways were once again eliminated from the show. First, Kathy quit, bringing the tribes even at 6 apiece. Then Malakal lost the immunity challenge as usual, and a plan to the shake up the game never went beyond the plan stage, so Tracy followed Chet out the door.

Erik’s afraid he will be the next to go, but he remains Ozzy’s pet, so he has potential to stick around.

Ami and Cirie have figured out that they can get plenty of food on their own.

Ozzy’s freaking out about the previous night’s tribal council, and his paranoia continues to grow as the hours pass.

Airai’s got a rat to eat. Breakfast of champions.

James hates his new island, and he feels like he and Parvati are pretty much on their own over there.

Parvati wants to secure Alexis and Natalie, whoever they are, and then get together with Amanda for a girl power alliance. She knows she can’t beat James or Ozzy in the end.

The tribes can pick one person at the other tribe who won’t compete in the immunity challenge but also will have individual immunity. This is in preparation for that night’s tribal council, despite the fact that they just went to tribal last night. Airai selected Ozzy; Malakal selected Alexis. They chose Alexis because they think it’s about balance. Tribe members will run across a balancing obstacle course while members of the other tribe swing bags at them. Parvati will sit out for Airai. Eliza and Jason run for Airai; Erik and Amanda run for Malakal. Jason takes a slight lead for Airai. The girls both fall off, and Jason extends his lead. Eliza falls. Amanda doesn’t fall, and she and Jason are now neck and neck. Eliza has a lead over Erik by seconds, retaining her lead over him as they both score points. On his next go, Erik takes a hard fall, and this is enough to let Airai get a lead they won’t look back from. Airai wins immunity (again), pizza, and beer.

Jason still thinks his hidden immunity idol is real. I’m thoroughly impressed he’s dumb enough to fall for this. Ozzy’s happy someone took the bait.

Erik asks Cirie and Parvati how much they trust Ami, telling them she’s been trying to screw them over, which is true, though I wonder to what extent she was really serious about making that happen. Of course, they don’t trust him because he’ll flip quicker than she will. Ami knows what he’s doing and approaches them to talk.

Ami blames their lack of approaching her for what she’s done. She thanks Erik for helping her get closer to them.

As Ozzy’s boat approaches, Erik’s a lost puppy dog looking for some help from him. He tells Ozzy the same story he told the girls. Unlike the girls who don’t trust either of them, Ozzy without question trusts Erik.

Can’t say I blame them for getting rid of Ami. She proved last time she plays this game hard. Granted, they have ensured they’ve got one less favorite and a potentially dangerous duo in Ozzy and Erik at merge.

Survivor: Micronesia Episode 7

Chet had the opportunity to take control of the game for his allies in Survivor: Micronesia Episode 6, but he was too interested in whining and ended up being voted out himself. Following his injury at the poorly designed challenge, Jonathan was eliminated from the game for medical reasons.

Tracy wants to kill the chickens. For some reason, Ozzy is completely opposed to this and rules it out. Nonetheless, Ozzy remains the provider of his tribe, so she’ll just bite her tongue for now. Erik, meanwhile, wants to be Ozzy.

The reward challenge involves money stones, which were the currency in Micronesia at one time. Reward is a trip to an island for a spa and food. Natalie sits out for Airai. Tribes will guide their giant round stones through a course while blindfolded. Two people who are not blindfolded must guide them and recover the stones under tiles after they’re broken. Airai is the first to finish and move to the puzzle. Malakal passes them on the puzzle and wins reward, though. They send Jason to exile island, along with Tracy (at Ozzy’s request, meaning she misses out on the reward).

While Amanda and Ami strip and take showers with Ozzy in paradise, back at camp, the other tribe is suffering through a monsoon, as Kathy takes on the role of whiner. After about three minutes straight of this, I get the point already. I’m sensing our next quitter here.

The other girls try to talk her out of it, but Kathy has her mind set on leaving the game. Jeff Probst comes to pay her a visit. She says she can’t feel her family, but I’m not sure how heading off to a sequester house will change that.

Prior to the season starting, Probst had this to say about Kathy, “We almost put Kathy on Vanuatu and we didn’t. It’s one thing to have a positive attitude, it’s another to survive 39 days eating some rice, clams, and an occasional fish. I think Kathy’s going to be tested enormously, and the longer she lasts, the tougher it’s going to be unless she can embrace it. It’s not an easy season out there. It rained almost every night we were there, and if you get sent to Exile, it can be brutal.”

This puts the teams even at six and gives us yet another two elimination episode. This also follows on the heels of Jonathan’s exit last week, as he was on this same tribe, keeping things roughly even for the tribe that keeps losing.

Cirie’s getting people around to her way of thinking: that Ozzy’s just out for Ozzy.

The immunity challenge will again be collecting puzzle pieces then solving a puzzle. Tribes will run across a bridge and hook up puzzle pieces, then their teams will reel them back to shore with the rope they attach. Ozzy gets an early lead and is allowed to go a second time, giving Malakal a big lead. Ozzy takes a breather on the third go but goes again on the fourth, and Malakal laps Airai. Malakal is the first tribe to get all five pieces. Airai manages to get their pieces while Malakal is still untying theirs, but they still have a good amount of ground to make up. Despite being behind, Airai once again catch up on the puzzle part, as Eliza and Jason finish the puzzle to win immunity for Airai.

The girls apologize to Ozzy, but he doesn’t seem real concerned because he feels safe. Once again, there’s a plan to go against Ozzy. Ami approaches Tracy to take out Ozzy, who doesn’t want Erik gone unlike the other girls because Erik worships him. Ami’s thinking of a 3-2-1 vote.

Ozzy’s name is brought up a bunch at tribal council, but he again doesn’t appear overly worried.

Once again they didn’t have much choice, even if they’re probably going to regret it in the long run.

Unlike this week’s schedule change, it appears the next episode will be delayed a week and still air on Thursday.
