The Bachelor 12 Episode 2

The Bachlor 12 episode 1 kicked off by introducing us to the 12th bachelor, London’s Matt Grant, along with 25 bachelorettes. Of course, this was entirely too many, so 10 of them were lopped off in short order to make them a little bit easier to keep track of.

The first date is for Ashlee, Kristine, Marshana, Noelle, Michelle, Amanda, Erin H, and Holly. They head to a fashion show, but they’re not actually there to see a show. The girls are the show. Some of the girls are already pageant queens/models/actresses, but some are nervous about it. Amanda makes sure to take off her shirt to get some extra attention. Then they go to a more intimate setting at a hotel. Marshana is concerned about interracial dating, a fair concern since every year the one black girl is generally sent home in the first episode or two. Matt responds that it’s not an issue for him and that it’s different in the UK. This year, the girls aren’t just looking for an acting/modelling gig. No, they want to be able to get jobs as singers/songwriters. Michelle has written a song, which she sings to Matt. Ashlee not so subtly tells him she wants a kiss, and then she gets the rose, which she proceeds to dance around with and wave in other people’s faces.

The second group of Chelsea, Shayne, Erin S, Amy, Carri, Robin, and Kelly are going to Vegas on their date. Matt gives them all $1,000 in chips and tells them whoever comes up with the most chips gets to spend half an hour with him. Rather than gamble, Robin walks away with Matt to talk with him. Shayne, on the other hand, puts all her money on red and loses it all at one time. Kelly ends up winning the most chips, which allows her to get a bite to eat and a drink with Matt.

Shayne pulls Matt aside to tell him she’s a drama queen. 22-year-old lifelong actress a drama queen? So pretty much nobody is surprised. She complains to him that she doesn’t like that 14 other girls are vying for his attention. Uh, that’s pretty much the whole point of the show, although let’s be real here: how much of a coincidence could it be that Shayne stars on another ABC show, General Hospital? What, she didn’t want to be on Dancing with the Stars? She tells us she’s too self centered for this whole process to be fun for her.

Chelsea and Matt have a talk that for whatever reason leads to her getting the rose. He doesn’t shed much light on why she got the rose either.

Robin isn’t the first to get a kiss, but she does get the longest one. This makes Marshana even more jealous, so she goes out to dance with him, even if there’s not any music. Matt tells us he’d kiss her if the other girls weren’t staring at them.

There’s another singer in the house, Carri. She says she doesn’t want it to turn it into a talent show, but it’s already too late for that. She sings an opera song for him.

Shayne apologizes to Matt for throwing a tantrum like a spoiled little brat. He brings up the fact that she’s an actress as a concern.

The Celebrity Apprentice Winner

The Celebrity Apprentice 2 winner

Donald Trump brought us down to the final two in The Celebrity Apprentice Episode 12: Piers Morgan and Trace Adkins. Despite his sometimes rough win at all costs attitude, Piers has been the clear leader almost from the very beginning of the show. Trace hasn’t stood out quite as much but has performed well in his time on the show. Now the two hour finale where we find out who is the winner is upon us.

We start off the show the same way every finale starts off: Trump’s advisers offer him no useful advice and tell him he’s got a tough decision ahead of him.

Piers calls up some more famous British people like Sharon Osbourne. Then he apologizes to Stephen Baldwin if he’s offended him.

Trace has his hands full with the Backstreet Boys. He’s still trying to find wheat grass juice for them. Now he needs black nail polish, which he goes to buy along with three time heavyweight champion of the world Lennox Lewis.

Baldwin’s proving useless in his effort to get rid of tickets.

Trace’s country music stars are on their way to the show. Then he gets a surprise visit from his wife and daughters.

Carol Alt is working on logistics and catering for Piers, who hopes to get the celebrities drunk so they’ll spend more.

When the Backstreet Boys (or BSB as their good buddy Trace knows them) show up, they surprise Trace, telling him one of them needs a knee brace. Oh, and he still needs wheat grass.

Piers’ prize with the Duchess of York gets a bid of $100k from one of his guests. The same guy bids $100k for a dinner with Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne, who will be inviting his band to play.

Ivanka buys dinner with Trace Adkins.

The auction from there is just one big blur. It’s not apparent either what is bid or what is offered, but the final auction is a day of shopping with Ivanka Trump. Simon Cowell calls Piers to place a bid. Simon runs this one up to $100k as well. Trace finds this distasteful, but he already knew he was going to lose when it came to money.

Trace still hasn’t found the wheat grass, but the BSB are ready to go on stage nonetheless.

Even though they’re adversaries, the six celebrities who are working on the event stand together to enjoy getting to the end of the process.

Howard Lutnick of Cantor Fitzgerald, who bid on the Osbournes and Fergie, will be matching text donations up to $250,000.

Piers suggests that he would have told the Backstreet Boys too bad rather than bending over backwards for them because they would have shown up anyway since it was for millions of viewers and charity.

Piers raised $376,000 compared to Trace’s $64,000 at the auction. In ticket sales, Trace raised $38,000 compared with $12,000 for Piers, who gave away 20 tickets to his charity in hopes of boosting auction sales. It’s now down to who Trump wants to win. Overall, Piers crushed Trace, which is typical for Piers. Trace takes it personally and indicates that Piers is belittling his donors. Piers asks him to take it back.

Baldwin tries to take the moral road, telling Trump that Piers’ strategy of getting people drunk was not okay with God or something.

Piers asks for clarification of what the game is: being a nice guy or a being good businessman.

Now it’s time for the final live boardroom with all the celebrities. Unfortunately, Omarosa’s there, too. Piers asks what her name is.

Lennox thinks both men are competent. Carol says Piers is great but that she should have been the one against him in the finale. Baldwin says Trace is ten times better than Piers. Vinny Pastore regrets resigning. Trace is easily more popular than Piers with the celebrities. Gene Simmons still thinks Kodak is wrong, even though they’ve doubled and expect to triple their sales based on Hydra’s performance. He also supports Trace.

Trace tells us about his charity, the Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Network, which he has been involved with because his 6-year-old daughter has severe food allergies. Piers is supporting the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund, and of the over $1 million of money raised this season, the lion’s share has gone to them.

And The Celebrity Apprentice winner is… Piers Morgan. While his methods may have been questionable, the results he’s produced speak for themselves.

I have to give Trump, Mark Burnett, and NBC credit for revitalizing this show that previously has been in its decline, even if their bad decisions ultimately caused it to decline. Unlike last year when the show’s fate was unknown, The Celebrity Apprentice 2 has been confirmed.

For those of you either in the UK or curious to see how things are on the other side of the pond, I’m hoping to get started on The Apprentice UK Series 4 coverage some time this week. Anyone looking for more Piers, coverage of America’s Got Talent 3 begins June 17th.

Big Brother 9 Episode 20

Last night, James won the veto and took himself off the block, causing Chelsia to realize that the other side of the house was not alone in their dumbassery when they voted James back into the house. Sharon was put on the block in James’ place.

Yesterday Josh told us he was the gay Evel Dick. His ego certainly is a fair comparison.

Chelsia complains about her partnership being broken up. Yet it was okay or it to happen last week to Matt and Natalie. She now hates Natalie’s guts and wants her to know it, destroying her Easter eggs. Yeah, we know it’s pretty much a done deal that you’re going home, but there’s no reason to give them an airtight reason to not only vote you out but for that matter enjoy it. Sharon sits back and lets her continue to dig her own grave. James is trying to distance himself from her as well because she’s a “huge raging bitch.”

Adam believes he and Sheila will work together until the end of the game. He tells us he, too, would have voted for Alex over James and just said otherwise because James was sitting right next to him.

When Julie asks Chelsia why she should be kept in the house, she uses the time to talk down to them. Go away. Go away. Go away.

Votes
Natalie-Chelsia
Joshuah-Chelsia
Ryan-Chelsia
Sheila-Chelsia
James-Chelsia

By a unanimous vote, Chelsia has been evicted from the Big Brother house. Good riddance. Chelsia lost the game because she failed Big Brother 101. If you’re in a team, you’re a target. If the house can’t get the male member of the team out, they’ll settle for the female member. Then she made matters worse by going a little bit completely and totally insane. As she walks out, she insults everybody. I wonder if the words sore and loser mean anything to her. She still supports both James and Josh, though. Natalie tells her she’s been praying for her so not to worry.

The HOH is based on America’s answers to a series of questions as if each of them were running for President, which frankly would not be the worst idea I’ve heard.

Recarve Mt. Rushmore with only their own face – Joshuah or Sheila – Joshuah – Everyone except Sheila and James gets it right.
Give Big Brother winnings to charity – Sheila or Adam – Adam – Everyone except Sharon and Ryan gets it right.
Lock themselves out of the White House – Sheila or Adam – Adam – Everyone except James and Josh gets it right.
More interesting biography – James or Sheila – James – Everyone except Sheila and Sharon gets it right.
Leading America into battle – Ryan or James – James – Everyone except Sharon and James gets it right.
More inspiring speech – Natalie or Joshuah – Natalie – Everyone except Josh and Ryan gets it right.
Stop motorcade to let squirrel cross the road – Sharon or Natalie – Sharon – Everyone except James, Sheila, and Natalie gets it right.

Natalie is the new HOH.

Jericho Season 2 Episode 7

Following Getz’s death, Beck went on the offensive, torturing Jake for answers he wasn’t going to give in Jericho Season 2 Episode 6. Hawkins, meanwhile, tried to drive his bomb to Texas but was intercepted by an unknown man who was tracking him, and ended up losing the bomb to the Cheyenne government. After Jake was freed, the two of them decided to go together to get it back.

Hawkins wants to find the bomb. Even if he doesn’t have any plan to do so.

Beck is ordered to end the insurrection.

When Grey gets back to his hotel room, he’s greeted by Hawkins and Jake waiting there for him. Grey says he’s just wasting his time there because the convention’s a sham. Jake asks him to head back home.

The town is preparing to be declared centers of resistance. A plan arises. Join forces with their other enemy, New Bern, who doesn’t like Beck’s men any better than they do.

Stanley leaves the hideout to go bury his sister, who’s been in the medical center for 4 days since she died.

Heather goes to see Beck, who knows a page was missing from the binder in his office. He calls her naive. She calls him a coward. So she’s under arrest.

Jake tells the story of how certain areas when he was in Afghanistan would shoot anything with a J&R logo, so they started using ambulances instead. With that in mind, they head to the local hospital, which has shut down due a gas leak. Hawkins and his contact (but not Jake because Hawkins’ guy doesn’t trust him) approach the target and take out some guys. They get the jump on most of them but still end up being shot. It’s the mystery guy. Just as he’s about to finish off Hawkins, Jake runs up and shoots him. Good thing he stayed behind after all.

Beck asks to see the evidence they recovered from Hawkins’ vehicle before they ship it off. All signs point to a corrupt government.

Eric meets up with Constantino and his boys. Constantino’s advice: stop leaving soldiers alive when taking out a convoy.

At Hawkins’ instruction, Jake crashes through the gate at what turns out to be an embassy of the independent republic of Texas. Cheyenne has followed them and wants the surrender of the terrorist. A call from Chavez gets them to instruct Cheyenne any attempt to approach will be considered an act of war.

Eric is unwilling to take Constantino’s approach. His plan is instead to stand in the open and let them start shooting. When the soldiers do approach, Mimi pleads and gets them to be able to have 30 minutes to finish the burial.

Hawkins insists that he’s not important and that Jake should not worry about him but rather should worry about getting the bomb to Texas.

The embassy has arranged to transport the bomb to Texas. Hawkins reiterates that the mission is everything, but Jake refuses to allow him to act as bait and drags him with him.

Beck pulls up to greet the mourners and tells them they’re all free to go. He’s given his notice that he will no longer be taking orders from the Cheyenne government. He thinks he’ll probably be sent to Cheyenne to face court marshall, but until that time, he’s still in charge.

As Jake’s flying toward Texas, a couple of Cheyenne planes approach him to tell him he’s going back with them, or they’re going to shoot him down. They give him 30 seconds, then get ready to attack. Just then, two planes heading the other way shoot them down. The Texans will be escorting him to his destination. One of the pilots tells him whatever he’s carrying better be good because he thinks he just declared war on Cheyenne.

Heather has been released from captivity, and she stops to see Beck while his superiors are reviewing the evidence and deciding what to do with him. Once they know what’s happened, they’re on his side.

Jake and Hawkins have arrived, where he finds out they’re probably heading into the next American Civil War. With Texas siding with Columbus, it should be a fair fight.

And that’s… apparently… it. Weren’t we supposed to get closure? There could be worse cliffhangers (see last season), but it’s obvious there’s still much of the story left to be told. Unfortunately, this CBS series finale is the last we’ll see of the show on network television. There’s an outside chance it will be picked up by a cable network, though.

Big Brother 9 Episode 19

After Adam won HOH, he solidified the house as being split in two sides, nominating James and Chelsia in Big Brother 9 Episode 18.

After the nomination ceremony, Chelsia refuses to hug Sheila.

James says he’s now a bigger threat than he was before. Apparently. Then he and Chelsia start dancing around the house.

CBS has decided to give away the trip to Vegas that Ryan lost the other night. That’s… unusual. Chelsia is the random winner.

It’s time to pick players for the veto competition. Adam picks Joshuah. Chelsia picks Sheila. James picks Sharon (houseguest’s choice). Sheila and Adam are the only hope for their side, which is not a good sign.

In the middle of the night, Evel Dick shows up. You know what that means. Hopefully this will be the last time we’re forced to see him. He wakes them up banging pots and pans, the “hilarious” scene that won him so much both support and opposition in BB8. It’s a gross eating challenge. How appropriate. They’ll be drinking drinks for croquet shots. If they can beat Dick’s score, they’ll win a Les Paul guitar from Gibson. Josh is apparently the gay version of Evel Dick. Chelsia proves to be a proper lady with plenty of belching. James isn’t messing around and goes right through the drinks.

Joshuah – 5 shots, 17 points
Sharon – 6 shots, 19 points
Chelsia – 6 shots, 13 points
Sheila – 7 shots, 23 points
Adam – 8 shots, 28 points
James – 10 shots, 29 points

James wins veto. I have to give Dick credit. He was not as obnoxious as I remembered him. Chelsia’s starting to regret having brought James back into the house. It may well have sealed her fate.

Sharon believes that she should go up as a pawn in order to keep herself and Josh safe, a decision influenced by her partner Josh. She tells Adam to go ahead and put her up.

Natalie wants to get rid of Joshuah instead because she doesn’t trust him and wants to get him and Sharon apart. Ryan, covering his secret alliance with Josh, doesn’t want this to happen.

James has used veto and will seek revenge, adding that, by the way, Chelsia, you’re history, sucks to be you. Adam puts Sharon up in his place.

Big Brother 9 Episode 18

The house was given a choice between evicting Matt or Ryan in Big Brother 9 Episode 17. Following a tie vote, James decided to evict Matt from the house. Then the tide shifted again as Adam won HOH.

We were on something resembling a streak. Well, the streak is over. 60 Minutes is just starting, putting Big Brother 9 behind by about 50 minutes or so. A live blog will begin once the show starts.

Winning HOH hasn’t helped Adam’s below the radar strategy any.

Natalie is mourning the loss of her partner. As Matt was leaving, he pushed her away as usual. Josh is happy to see her suffering. She tells Chelsia she wants revenge against James, and Chelsia says she doesn’t care and that people can screw over James if they want. Natalie is done with these people. D-U-N.

Josh is getting irritated with Sharon talking baby talk to the guinea pigs. He tells us they don’t have the brain capacity to understand her. Oh, now that’s just way too easy.

Adam’s basket contains baby food, whatever that’s about. Natalie is hoping he’ll share.

As per usual, Josh tells the HOH he’s their bitch if they keep him around.

Following Josh’s lead, Adam screws with Sheila’s mind and tells her he may put her on the block. He seems halfway serious about it, too.

It’s time for a luxury competition. The reward is a screening of 21. Because the movie’s 21, the challenge is Big Brother blackjack. The winner will decide which three people to take with them. Ryan gets the first chip. James is the first one out. Natalie says she can add to 21, though it may take her a little longer than some people. Adam gets his first chip. Sheila is the next one to be eliminated. Ryan gets his second chip. Josh is the next one eliminated. Natalie gets her first chip, thereby proving she can count (or is just a really good guesser). Ryan gets his third chip. Then he gets his fourth chip to win. He picks Adam, Natalie, and James to go with him. Odd to see Sheila get left out.

Now that he’s won, they’re offering him the chance to risk it all, in exchange for playing one hand that could be worth a weekend getaway for two to Vegas worth over $21,000. If he doesn’t go for it, things stay the same. If he does go for it and loses, the four houseguests not picked will get to see the movie instead.

Ryan decides to take the risk. He holds at 18. The dealer gets 19. I’m not saying it was fixed or anything…

Now that it’s down to the final 8, they get the smaller table. Speaking of 8, Natalie believes she’s caught on to something because God gave her a sign with 8 curtains. Her theory is that Evel Dick may come back from Big Brother 8 in week 8. Well, I’ve got bad news for her. She’s right. The good news is that history has shown us he’ll be forgotten shortly after his reappearance.

James warns that if Adam puts him on the block, he’ll come get revenge on him. So how many people is James going after now? 6?

Nominations
Natalie-Safe
Sharon-Safe
Ryan-Safe
Joshuah-Safe
Sheila-Safe

James and Chelsia have been nominated. Adam says that they’re a team that needs to be split up. Somehow, Josh believes the nominations are his doing. Chelsia and James are acting tough, apparently surprised that their aggressiveness within the game keeps getting them nominated.

Stay tuned to dingoRUE for another live recap of Big Brother 9 Episode 19, which airs Tuesday at 9/8c on CBS.
