Survivor: Micronesia Episode 8

We’re now past CBS’ successful effort at confusing everybody as to when Survivor would actually be on. Two weeks ago on the Wednesday airing of Survivor: Micronesia Episode 7, two more castaways were once again eliminated from the show. First, Kathy quit, bringing the tribes even at 6 apiece. Then Malakal lost the immunity challenge as usual, and a plan to the shake up the game never went beyond the plan stage, so Tracy followed Chet out the door.

Erik’s afraid he will be the next to go, but he remains Ozzy’s pet, so he has potential to stick around.

Ami and Cirie have figured out that they can get plenty of food on their own.

Ozzy’s freaking out about the previous night’s tribal council, and his paranoia continues to grow as the hours pass.

Airai’s got a rat to eat. Breakfast of champions.

James hates his new island, and he feels like he and Parvati are pretty much on their own over there.

Parvati wants to secure Alexis and Natalie, whoever they are, and then get together with Amanda for a girl power alliance. She knows she can’t beat James or Ozzy in the end.

The tribes can pick one person at the other tribe who won’t compete in the immunity challenge but also will have individual immunity. This is in preparation for that night’s tribal council, despite the fact that they just went to tribal last night. Airai selected Ozzy; Malakal selected Alexis. They chose Alexis because they think it’s about balance. Tribe members will run across a balancing obstacle course while members of the other tribe swing bags at them. Parvati will sit out for Airai. Eliza and Jason run for Airai; Erik and Amanda run for Malakal. Jason takes a slight lead for Airai. The girls both fall off, and Jason extends his lead. Eliza falls. Amanda doesn’t fall, and she and Jason are now neck and neck. Eliza has a lead over Erik by seconds, retaining her lead over him as they both score points. On his next go, Erik takes a hard fall, and this is enough to let Airai get a lead they won’t look back from. Airai wins immunity (again), pizza, and beer.

Jason still thinks his hidden immunity idol is real. I’m thoroughly impressed he’s dumb enough to fall for this. Ozzy’s happy someone took the bait.

Erik asks Cirie and Parvati how much they trust Ami, telling them she’s been trying to screw them over, which is true, though I wonder to what extent she was really serious about making that happen. Of course, they don’t trust him because he’ll flip quicker than she will. Ami knows what he’s doing and approaches them to talk.

Ami blames their lack of approaching her for what she’s done. She thanks Erik for helping her get closer to them.

As Ozzy’s boat approaches, Erik’s a lost puppy dog looking for some help from him. He tells Ozzy the same story he told the girls. Unlike the girls who don’t trust either of them, Ozzy without question trusts Erik.

Can’t say I blame them for getting rid of Ami. She proved last time she plays this game hard. Granted, they have ensured they’ve got one less favorite and a potentially dangerous duo in Ozzy and Erik at merge.

Big Brother 9 Episode 23

Last night, James went off the deep end but managed to stay composed enough to win veto again. In his place, Sharon was nominated, again as a pawn. This week, however, her partner Joshuah had other plans. He tried to get her kicked out of the house and believes he’s managed to secure Ryan’s and James’ votes, which would be enough to force a tie. In order to get Natalie’s vote in the event of a tie, he’s given her a guarantee of two weeks of safety. I can’t see the logic behind why she’d stick with this plan, though.

Natalie doesn’t want to be the executioner. She says she hopes Josh can get the three votes on his own. He’s trying to get Adam on his side as well.

Natalie spills the plan to Sharon and tells her she’d rather keep her. Sharon guarantees Natalie safety. I’d trust her more than Josh. If nothing else, I’d trust her in the house more than the duo of James and Josh combined. Then Sharon brings Sheila in. The girls are worried that it’s going to be a battle of the sexes.

Ryan continues to hold to his alliance with Josh and defends him when approached by Natalie. Sharon approaches Ryan and tells him she hasn’t lied and that she’ll have his back. He says this is enough to get him to flip, so he tells Natalie to keep Sharon. Natalie’s also been plotting with Adam.

Josh’s mom says that sometimes she just wants to wring his neck when she’s watching him on TV. She’s not alone.

Natalie tells us Ryan is her closest ally now that Matt’s gone.

By a vote of 3-1, Joshuah has been evicted from the Big Brother house. Josh gives a good speech as he’s leaving, but then he spoils it when, like all the excessively bitter houseguests that have left in the past few weeks, Josh tells most of the people to stay seated except for a couple (Sharon and James). He tells Julie they made the right decision by kicking him out. He claims he’s only mean when he’s provoked. Well, that’s one theory anyway. Sharon promises vengeance on everyone for keeping her in the house kicking out Josh.

Julie hopes everybody’s been studying and counting everything in the house. The HOH competition is all about the quantity of things found in the Big Brother house. Everybody but Sheila gets the first question right. James and Sharon score a point on the second question. Sharon, Sheila, and Adam get the third question right. Everybody gets the next question wrong. Sharon is currently in the lead with three points. Everybody gets the next question right. Everybody but Sharon gets the next question right. Sharon, James, and Adam are in the lead with four points. Adam and Sheila get the next question right. Adam wins HOH.

I’m calling it now. At some point during the next week, James will say, “When I win veto, I’m going after Adam next week. Rawr.”

Big Brother 9 Spoilers

Sarah Wayne Callies Returning for Prison Break Season 4

Remember how Sara Tancredi died at the start of season 3? And then they found her head in the box? Just kidding. According to E Online, Sarah Wayne Callies will be back for Prison Break season 4 as a regular character.

Apparently, that wasn’t really Sara’s head. Following a lot of people asking questions about why she’d been killed off, the producers got to thinking and decided maybe that wasn’t the right thing to do after all.

We knew internally that when we didn’t get Sarah Wayne Callies to come back in season three and be there to portray her character’s death, as soon as it was written and filmed and we saw it on screen, we knew that it was actually a way you could describe how this wasn’t Sarah’s head in the box, basically. But at that point, we were going forward with other stories, so we kind of put that on the back burner.

But throughout that time we watched how people externally were really talking about what we thought might be the case, internally: The question of, “Is Sara Tancredi really dead?” So throughout season three we were mindful of references we’d make to and who took credit for killing her and all kinds of stuff regarding her death.

Ultimately, we came back after the strike to talk about season four, and that’s when a bunch of things kind of came together, and we then had the big conversation. Is Sarah really alive and can we bring her back? And once we opened it up, it happened really quickly.

Sara’s return will allow her and Michael Scofield to have an actual relationship.

David Cook Hospitalized after the Show

David Cook was hospitalized after Tuesday night’s episode of American Idol, a source close to the show told Reuters. He was taken to the emergency room because he was suffering from heart palpitations and high blood pressure.

He was treated at the hospital and later released. Word has it that he has been under stress recently due to an illness in the family.

Big Brother 9 Episode 22

Natalie took advantage of her newfound HOH power and nominated James and Joshuah in Big Brother 9 Episode 21.

James is getting tired of being on the block. It’s really simple. He played way too aggressively and lied without provocation. He made his own bed, and now he’s going to be seen as a target for the rest of the game.

Sheila’s there to tell James he’s going to win veto. Then she offers a pep talk to Joshuah as well, within hearing distance of James. Rather than just keeping his mouth shut, he goes to confront everybody. Typical James. Once this is apparently all over, he still can’t leave well enough alone. Now it’s time to go do his best Chelsia impersonation and fight with Sheila and call her a two-faced bitch, which may be true but still. Dude, somebody medicate this guy already.

James still can’t figure out why the house voted him back in if they now all want him gone. He made them want him gone. Doesn’t he get it? Wasn’t he supposed to change his strategy to something that didn’t suck?

Natalie picks Ryan for the veto (houseguest’s choice).
Joshuah chooses Sheila at random.
James chooses Sharon at random.

The veto challenge is a guessing game. They must identify how many of each item are in each container. If you don’t want to answer, you can just fold and let other people eliminate themselves. James is just going to keep folding and watch the others drop. Smart strategy. Uninspired challenge design. Sharon and Joshuah are out first. Natalie gets a point. Natalie is eliminated on the next round. Ryan gets a point. Sheila gets the next point because the other two folded. James finally stays in and gets a point because the other two fold. James stays again and gets a point again because the other two fold. For the second time in a row, Ryan was closest but folded. James gets the next point and wins the power of veto.

Good news for James. Bad news for Josh. For the first time, his ego is not showing its head.

Josh is assuming that Sharon’s going up and he’s heading home. She tries to comfort him, but the odds he’s wrong aren’t very good. She quickly realizes resistance is futile.

After some crying, though, Josh decides he’s not done after all. He goes to Natalie to make a deal. He wants to get a tie, which she will break. All this is going on while Sheila’s in the bathroom telling Sharon how great her friend is. Can’t say I blame him. He thinks he’s got James and Ryan. They’re not going to tell Adam or Sheila. He agrees to give Natalie two weeks of safety in exchange. But I do wonder: why would she trust Josh and James?

James takes himself off the block and tells people they need to start winning. Why? Losing everything hasn’t harmed Adam or Sheila any. As expected, Sharon goes up in his place.

Big Brother 9 Spoilers

Beauty and the Geek 5 Episode 4

Beauty and the Geek 5 Episode 3 quickly evolved… into the night of lame twists. Jillian was eliminated in a lame twist in which she went home immediately after losing the flag football game after she volunteered to go to the other side when one geek and one beauty switched sides. Then, they decided to remove the lame twist that started the season, turning it back into beauty and the geek rather than beauty vs. the geek. But not before announcing that the odd geek out would be eliminated. Once the other six beauties had chosen their partners, it came down to Tara having to choose between Jonathan and Joe, the two neither of the beauties wanted.

Tara has selected Joe. Jonathan must now leave the mansion.

This week’s challenge is a science challenge. The girls will be learning about geology, solar energy, and the laws of physics. They’ll present their projects at the science fair. The guys will learn the science of love. Seriously.

Tom’s paranoid talking about sex. He’s hoping that people asking for love advice won’t mention the subject.

The girls have picked three different science projects to display at the science fair. Kristina built a volcano, but she put her speech off until the last minute. Tara does the solar energy project, but she doesn’t bring her calculator with her. Amanda believes magma is still called magma when the volcano erupts. Leticia says “I suck.” Cara comes up with a unique way of explaining the earth, by boiling a hard boiled egg. She gets asked a question she doesn’t know, and she just changes the subject so she’s able to give a competent answer. Jim’s response to Tiffany is *facepalm*. Cara is the clear winner of this challenge.

Dr. Drew will be assessing the guys on their knowledge of relationships, as they give out advice on the radio. Matt says he skipped some of the more sexual portions of the book. Greg recommends a thong to his virgin for the moment caller. Jason gives advice on cheating. Chris suggests to a caller that she should build friendships first, rather than worrying about getting dates. Tom also gets the virgin, and he’s able to offer some good advice. Joe rambles on and on, but he not surprisingly won’t shut up. Dr. Drew says it came down to Jason and Tom. Jason was sweet, honest, and sincere, while Tom really connected with the caller. Tom is the winner of the geek challenge. He gives Amanda credit for the win because of her advice to him.

Jim wants a kiss from Tiffany. She’ll have to think about it.

The two teams in power get together to discuss their strategy.

Cara chooses Matt & Leticia. Leticia blames herself. Tom chooses Jim & Tiffany because they haven’t had anybody go into the elimination room yet. Matt gives Leticia a letter to read just in case they survive. She’s already crying before she’s even read it. Jim tells Tom he’s going to get revenge if he comes back.

The first to buzz in gets to answer. Beauties are up first. Leticia gets a ridiculously easy question right. Jim gets his question right to tie it, as he knows married couples average sex 1.5 times per week (what’s the .5?). Leticia gets the second question right. Jim gets his second question right to again tie it. Leticia once again gets the right answer, and she and Matt stay in the house. Jim and Tiffany are headed home.

Jim says he’s learned to wear pajamas and deodorant. I certainly hope so. Doesn’t look like he’ll get that kiss, though.

Stay tuned to dingoRUE for another live recap of Beauty and the Geek 5 episode 5, which airs Tuesday at 8/7c on The CW.
