Big Brother 11 Episode 27

Having won HOH, Natalie nominated her closest ally Kevin alongside her actual target Michele in Big Brother 11 Episode 26.

Julie makes an interesting point: the final four consists of one athlete, one popular, one brain, and one offbeat.

Kevin’s in on Natalie’s plan, but he’s got a plan of his own. He now wants her gone. Not that he hadn’t come to that conclusion before her nominations. Jordan thinks that maybe this whole thing is just too good to be true, but it’s working out fine for her. When they start to talk, Natalie tries to convince Jordan that Michele’s a target, which is contrary to her earlier alleged plot to get rid of Kevin.

Because Jeff told Jordan to stick by Michele before he left, that’s exactly what she plans to do, no matter what anybody says to her.

Since Natalie opted to spend the time with her boyfriend instead, she will not be participating in the final power of veto competition of the season. Each of the other three has a station with 20 clues, half on one side and half on the other. They also have names that they must match up to those clues. Jordan’s strategy is to stand there with a confused look on her face. Michele’s strategy is to just put all the blocks at once and get them all wrong. Kevin thought it would be wise to use a placeholder block, which means when he finally finds the block he was looking for, he has to take it all apart, but he seems to recover pretty quickly. Michele tries again. This time, she actually did competently. She’s only got 1 wrong. Kevin buzzes in and wins the veto. Meanwhile, Jordan’s still all sorts of confused.

Michele realizes she will probably be going home.

Natalie tells Julie that the veto went just as planned. So apparently she’s no longer pretending that she’s trying to get rid of Kevin.

Although Natalie wants to go to the finals with Kevin, he doesn’t see any way to beat her. She should probably think the same thing about him. Jordan and Michele are the ones lacking connections in the jury house. Granted, in the event of a tie, if it’s America’s choice, either of them would win over Kevin or Natalie.

Michele’s pitch to Kevin: take her so she can help him get rid of Natalie. She wants her gone, too. Then she tries blackmail. If he votes her out, she won’t vote for him in the final two.

Obviously, Kevin uses the power of veto on himself, which puts Jordan on the block up against Michele. As the veto holder, Kevin will be able to cast the sole vote to evict. Kevin casts his vote to evict Michele. Her devil ears were insufficient to convince him to keep her around. She leaves with parting words of “May the best wo… player win.”

She still claims she played the game with strategy. I’m still trying to figure out what that strategy was, though. It seemed to me to be just random chaos without much rational thought behind it. I do, however, think that, as time went on, her villain act may potentially have given her a chance. Ultimately, though, that ended up being her death blow. Kevin couldn’t trust her because she hadn’t demonstrated trustworthiness thus far.

The first part of the three part HOH competition is as always an endurance competition. They must hold onto their keys while standing on a rolling log. As the log turns and time passes, the seasons will change… and so will the weather. Get ready to be freezing when all’s said and done.

Hell’s Kitchen Season 6 Episode 9

Amanda’s been fumbling about for some time now, and Ramsay finally decided he’d had enough of her in Hell’s Kitchen Season 6 Episode 8.

Suzanne wants to convince her team that she’ll improve her teamwork. Ariel’s concern is that in order for Suzanne to improve, her personality has to improve.

The task is for each team to produce four crepes: breakfast, lunch, dinner, and dessert. Suzanne’s trying to overcompensate for how everybody feels about her. Meanwhile, nobody has a clue how to make crepes. With 5 minutes left, they’re not able to make a crepe they’re comfortable with.

Van has made his out of bacon and eggs, although the crepe is very spongy. Ariel’s breakfast is smoked salmon, herbs, and honey. Her crepe is a nice color, and the salmon’s very good. The women get the point.

For lunch, Tennille delivers pepperjack bacon and shrimp with black bean salsa. Very spicy. Andy’s dish is ham, cheese, and avocado. Nice mix of ingredients. The men get a point.

Kevin’s dinner is scallops, crab, and goat cheese. Delicious flavor. Suzanne made filet and onions, which she blabs on and on about. Everybody wants her to shut up. Perfect seasoning. Both get a point to remain tied.

When they get down to desserts, Dave’s cream cheese and mixed berry flavored crepe lacks presentation. I’d eat it, but Ramsay won’t. Sabrina makes pears, chocolate, and cinnamon. By default, she wins no matter what, but the Ramsay could see that in Whistler, so she obviously gets the point. The women win the challenge.

For their punishment, the men will prep both kitchens. They eat boiled tongue, baguette, and head cheese. As for the women, their reward is to listen to Ramsay talk more French as they head off to one of LA’s best French restaurants. They are greeted by a mime, who will teach them some pantomime, as if that’s a good thing.

Dave’s upset with himself and the knowledge that he cost his team the challenge by being unable to make a crepe.

The dinner service will include several new French dishes. Before they get to that, though, Andy needs himself a medic. He sliced his fingers. According to Dave, the tips of his fingers were literally taken off. I could have done without the graphic image. Dave figures they’re down to three people for the night.

Despite Dave’s fears, Andy does return. He just doesn’t know what the heck is going on.

Dave starts his team off well with his risotto. Sabrina, however, has delivered bland risotto of her own.

The meal tonight will include crepes, the same thing the men were unable to figure out earlier in the day. Andy’s first crepes are rejected.

Suzanne will need 6 minutes. Oh wait. Make that 8 minutes. Or 6 minutes. Maybe 5. 6. Perhaps 5.

Likewise, Andy has fallen behind. Dave said he will help Andy all night, which means he’s got to cover two stations, one arm or not.

Back to Suzanne. She’s slicing the lamb ahead of time. She thought she was catching up. No, she’s just putting them even further behind.

Over in the blue kitchen, Andy has finally found something he can do. Make salad. Maybe not. Ramsay wants to know if he’s given up.

Then back to the red kitchen, Suzanne continues to drag down her team. She’s unable to focus at all.

Not content with merely yelling at Suzanne, Ramsay turns his attention to Sabrina and her underseasoned frog.

Despite how bad Suzanne’s been doing, Andy is the one to be throwed out because he’s not doing anything. His injury is not going to be a sufficient excuse because Dave’s been doing great with one arm for some time now.

Well, then, now that one person’s been thrown out of the kitchen, let’s go for two more. Suzanne and Sabrina both feel Ramsay’s wrath and get tossed out.

With the dead weight gone, the remaining chefs manage to find their groove and complete the service. Since there were two incomplete teams, nobody wins, so they will have to come to a consensus among themselves of two individuals to nominate. They choose the two people who got yelled at the most: Andy and Suzanne. But as they begin talking, they consider an alternate strategy. How bad do they want Suzanne gone? Bad enough to use Sabrina as a pawn? Sabrina’s not having it. She will rat them out if they try that.

The first nominee is Suzanne because she brought her team down. The second nominee is Andy due to his inconsistent service.

Ariel and Tennille say they’re better off without Suzanne. They’d rather work by themselves than with her. Despite that, or perhaps because of it, Andy will be going home. Oh, he’s not done yet. Suzanne can take her jacket off. Because she’s with the blue team. Dropped one anchor to take on another. As for Sabrina, she needs to shape up.

Wednesday September 9 Schedule Changes

To accommodate the Presidential address at 8/7c, the major broadcast networks will have the following schedules for Wednesday September 9:

ABC will push Wipeout up one hour to 9.

NBC will forego its America’s Got Talent recap episode. The live results show will air at its regularly schedule time.

CBS is still in reruns and will skip its comedy block.

Fox will not air the special and instead will air the premiere of So You Think You Can Dance Season 6, followed by Glee.

The CW will also kick off a reality show, with the two hour premiere episode of America’s Next Top Model 13.

Survivor: Thailand Episode 1

Returning for its fifth season, Survivor makes its way to Thailand. The 16 contestants who make up the Survivor: Thailand cast are:

The Survivors start off in a small fishing village on the coast of southern Thailand. From there, they head to their island, where they will be greeted by the monsoon season (frequent torrential rains) and may see the world’s longest snake (the reticulated python).

Jeff asks the two oldest contestants to step forward because the elders are revered there. One beach will present difficulties as far as shelter, while the other beach will present difficulties as far as getting water. All Jeff can tell them at this point is one beach has sunrise, while the other has sunset. Jake picks sunset, leaving him with the purple tribe Sook Jai. Jan gets sunrise, which leaves her with the red tribe Chuay Gahn. Everybody’s assuming they have tribes divided into men and women, which is wrong. The two oldest people are the captains, and they will pick their tribes.

Robb’s already getting obnoxiously loud just in the team picking. Clay’s unsurprisingly the last one. He insists he’s a diamond in the rough. Erin, however, is bit more of a surprise to have been picked last.

Jake’s picks were based on athleticism and the look in people’s eyes. Ted realizes that Jan has picked all older people, but he hopes the other tribe will be surprised by what they can do.

Their first objective is to figure out how to paddle a boat. On the ride over, Tanya already notices that she’s on the group that she can’t really relate to, a bunch of people who are all much older than she is. Sook Jai, meanwhile, paddles their boat backwards.

Sook Jai goes wild upon arrival. They’re all off in different directions, with no plan. Jake realizes he’s got a group that’s enthusiastic and ready to go, but they know nothing.

Used car salesman Brian is on a business trip. He’s there for the check at the end, nothing more.

Chuay Gahn gets a cave, which means premade shelter that they don’t have to worry about. Unlike any shelter they could make, it should also keep them dry in any amount of rain. Their next order of business is to find food, which includes a bucket full of shellfish.

The first night, Stephanie is already skinny dipping. That didn’t take any encouraging. Shii Ann promises nobody will be getting a glimpse at her tatas. This is national TV. At least try to have a little respect.

Having wasted so much of the way, Sook Jai build half a shelter that they know they’re going to tear down the next day anyway.

Tanya is sick and throwing up already the second morning, which they assume is because she is dehydrated. They decide to go find their water source, which will be somewhat difficult since they’ve lucked out with their easy shelter. After much searching, they realize they have to paddle about a mile with their boat to get to their water. Gandhia and Clay, who were among the people stupid enough to swim over, get upset that the others didn’t come back for them with the boat.

The other tribe’s water is about 100 yards away from their camp. Jed wants to find some food, but everybody else wants to build shelter. Shii Ann agrees they need food. Robb is angry because his hands are beat up from building the shelter and doing nothing but building the shelter, which has been his own decision. Shii Ann’s done being screamed at by this fool.

Treemail tells them they’ll need brains and brawn. Jake is confident they’ve got the brawn. He’ll have to wait for somebody to bring them the brains.

The immunity challenge will be their first challenge in the middle of a downpour, and probably not their last. It’s a race around the island. They will paddle out to find a rope maze to release a flag. The next station is to unhook a flag 10 feet under the water. The last station is a traditional Thai puzzle. Chuay Gahn is off to an early lead in the rowing. Jan solves the rope maze for her team to extend their lead. The second station is fairly simple, and Brian dives down for his team, which has a lead that doesn’t look like it can be erased. As Ghandia starts to work on the puzzle, Jake’s just starting the dive down, one station behind. Jed will work on the puzzle for Sook Jai, hoping to catch up, which he does. Ghandia manages to solve the puzzle, but it’s way too late, as she already threw away the challenge. Sook Jai returns to Jeff first and wins immunity.

After that loss, the logical choice is to kick Ghandia out, who probably won’t contribute in physical challenges and clearly failed them in the mental challenge as well.

Her hope is that the sickly Tanya will be voted out instead.

A third option is presented. John took an early leadership role and has rubbed some people the wrong way. But does that make him a better choice than the other two? No. Stranger things have happened in this game before, though.

With 6 votes, John has been voted off the island. Considering the alteratives, this vote does not make a lot of sense. John voted for Ghandia, while Helen voted for Clay. A clean sweep against John otherwise. Their goal was to eliminate tension in the tribe. Just wait a few episodes, and it will be clear that one person who remains is a much larger source of tension, however.

Big Brother 11 Episode 26

Jeff was evicted in Big Brother 11 Episode 25, and then Natalie finally won something and became HOH.

Kevin says that Jeff should have approached him for a vote because he might have kept him.

Kevin’s unimpressed by Natalie’s HOH win, as if most of the competition wins in this game are all that impressive anyway.

Jordan wants revenge on Kevin. The good news for Kevin is that Jordan’s odds of winning a competition are about as slim as Natalie’s odds, but if she gets the chance, Kevin will be the target, whether that’s the smartest move or not. Her plan now is to keep her distance from everybody. Complete isolation in this house won’t help you any.

Natalie is talking to Kevin immediately after her HOH win. He has to go on the block. Uh. Huh? She hopes to make the other houseguests think they’re not in an alliance. Ultimately, his nomination is entirely irrelevant, so it’s not necessarily a bad move. Whoever wins the power of veto, unless it’s the HOH, gets to cast the only vote of the week and evict somebody. Nonetheless, Kevin is not happy with being nominated, whether it’s a moot point or not. The potential drawback for Natalie is if Kevin throws a hissy fit, or if people don’t like that she’s turned on her closest ally and view it negatively. Upon going to the girls with this plan, they’re in favor of it. Jordan wants Kevin gone, and Michele wants anybody gone who’s not her.

It’s time for a luxury competition. Natalie and Kevin are one team and Jordan and Michele are the other, with the goal of working together as a house to have the most time left possible. They are competing for the chance to win a shopping spree. They must match their partners without being able to see them. Whatever time is left will be used in a shopping spree in the house. They have two and a half minutes gone after their first matches. This is not going well. Their second match brings them down to 6:19. Then 5:08 left after three. Despite a disastrous start, they’re getting the hang of things. And 4:09 after their fourth match. Their fifth and final match leaves them 3:28 to go inside the house and shop. Despite the fact that there are three women in the house, Kevin by far is the most excited person there. Rather than pulling from the racks, his strategy is to dismantle the mannequins, which for whatever reason CBS has to blur. Apparently, they are anatomically correct.

Kevin wants to ally with Michele. Well, that’s weird. But what it would do is save him should Michele win the power of veto. Assuming, that is, that she’s dumb enough to fall for it. For her, it’s her smartest move to simply at least play along.

Inside Natalie’s HOH room is another Pandora’s box. The clue says Natalie will have the chance to spend time with a loved one, her boyfriend. Envelope two contains the penalty: she will not be able to play in the final veto competition. Don’t do it. You’ll see him in a week and a half. Then again, Kevin doesn’t have Natalie’s back, so it’s not as if she should be overly concerned with having his back. She has decided to open the door, which means she is given 5 minutes to spend with her boyfriend. As pointless as this all seemed, she does get a proposal out of it.

That’s not the end of it. She can have 15 minutes for a sushi dinner with Jason. However, the rest of the house may be a little annoyed. She presses the button. They are greeted by a grown man acting like a baby, an annoying baby that Kevin may well have to slap. Then there’s a copy cat, a cat that copies everything they do. After that, they’re greeted by a roach spraying bug spray.

Obviously, since Natalie’s been pretending she’s 18 the whole time (and everybody’s been stupid enough to believe her), she can’t tell that she’s received a proposal. Well, that and the fact that a marriage proposal may be viewed as a good thing. So her plan is to make up a story that something bad happened to her. The story she tells, which is true, is that she doesn’t get to play in the veto competition. She goes beyond that, though, saying she got a clue about final two reversal. If she goes to the final two and gets the votes, she loses because the result is reversed. Kevin thinks this is all a lie because it just doesn’t make any sense.

When the other three are discussing this, they’ve come to the conclusion that they would be idiots to take her to the final two with them. They assume there must be something she’s not saying. When they ask her about it, she has just one request. Don’t ask her any more questions about Pandora’s box. Not content with that request, Kevin goes up to her room. Knowing she’s been busted, Natalie decides to come clean. It was all just a prank. Not only that, but she tells them the whole truth. Kevin’s reaction to the truth: he’s pissed.

Jordan is safe.

Kevin and Michele have been nominated for eviction. Natalie tells Kevin that she’s getting him before he gets her. Then she turns her attention to Michele, calling her a backstabber and a liar, which is true but a bit harsh. Kevin has decided that he’s done with Natalie. Oh, as if he didn’t make that decision before the nomination ceremony when he tried to sell her out and ally with Michele. As for Michele, her plan is to take Jordan with her to the end.

Survivor: Marquesas Winner

Sean’s elimination in Survivor: Marquesas Episode 13 brought us down to the final four: Kathy Vavrick-O’Brien, Neleh Dennis, Paschal English, and Vecepia Towery. What a terrible final four. Three people who didn’t do much and Kathy.

Kathy’s still not sure if she made the right decision. She’ll discover whether or not it was right in two days.

Vecepia’s tired of these people. She assumes she’s gone unless she wins immunity.

The immunity challenge is the lame remember your ex-castaways challenge. Since this challenge doesn’t require a great deal of skill, Vecepia’s confident she may win for a change.

What was the first immunity challenge that Rotu lost? Who did they vote out for an extra point?
SOS. Gabe. Neleh gets both right for two points. Paschal, Vecepia, and Kathy get who was voted out right for 1 point.

What is the name of Sean’s girlfriend?
Ingrid. Paschal, Vecepia, and Kathy get a point.

Whose dream job is it to work for the New York Times?
Tammy. Everybody gets it right.

What was Boston Rob’s explanation for his absence while he competed on Survivor?
Army training. Paschal, Vecepia, and Neleh get a point.

Gina. Everybody is right.

Kathy has an offer. Now she would like to ally with Vecepia for the next two votes. Kathy suggests voting out Paschal. Vecepia would like to vote off Neleh instead. That’s fine with Kathy. If it comes down to a tie, Kathy’s willing to take the heat, whatever it may be. Probst interjects: they haven’t discussed how a tiebreaker will work yet. Somebody’s not gonna like the answer either.

Here’s how the tiebreaker works. Previous votes don’t count. There is no Q&A. They have two minutes to unanimously decide who’s going to get voted out. If there’s no consensus, it will come down to what’s in the bag. There are three rocks. Yellow rocks are safe. The purple rock is out. They realize they’re not going to do unanimous because it won’t work. In addition to Kathy and Neleh, now Paschal’s vulnerable. After they pull their rocks, they reveal. Paschal has purple and has been eliminated.

Very early the next morning, Probst wakes them up to have them build an outrigger canoe that they will paddle out to go paint themselves with Marquesan style tattoos. As they’re finishing up their tattooing, Vecepia and Kathy are discussing how they’re going to make it to the final two. Neleh reminds them they haven’t won yet. From there, they hike to a purification area. Unlike the pig blood of the past season, they get baptized in something that smells good, which contains monoi oils, ginger, and other ingredients that they do not reveal.

When they’re done with their celebration, it’s time for a test of endurance for the final immunity challenge. Their feet must stay touching the logs, and one hand must stay touching the idol. After 2 hours in the sun, Jeff lights some torches. This one will continue into the night. After 4 hours and 30 minutes, Neleh tells Kathy to watch her blouse, as if it matters since if she shows anything it will be blurred out. Kathy listens to her, goes to adjust, and falls. Immediately after, Vecepia agrees to jump off and give immunity to Neleh if she takes her to the finals. Neleh agrees to the deal and wins immunity.

When they arrive at tribal council, they’re told that Paschal collapsed, so he won’t be joining them. He’s fine but dehydrated.

Vecepia’s weak defense of herself is that their agreement did not entail her carrying Kathy.

Well, that pretty much screws over the season. Perhaps the weakest final two in history. The jury’s choice is between two people who really haven’t done much at all.

I’ll give Neleh credit for making a couple bold moves throughout the season (after she was beat over the head with the obvious). As for Vecepia, well, I have to look harder to find a way to give her credit. I guess she didn’t make any enemies along the way.

Tammy doesn’t want to reward either of them. John considers them both creeps and hypocrites.

Neleh starts off with an attempt to turn this into a lovefest. Vecepia claims she had a strategy but is just leaving it up to God, as if he cares who wins.

Tammy starts off the jury’s ranting. She was an honest liar, whereas they are just hypocrites. Vecepia played all sides and was confused which side she was on, but that all didn’t matter because she would just ask for forgiveness when she did something wrong. As for Neleh, she should have been content with just being on the jury and let the other four go to the end. Neither of them deserve the money. Kathy does.

Sean’s question is whether there’s something morally they’ve gained from the game. Neleh has learned to follow her heart. Vecepia feels she acted too quickly sometimes. As much as he wants to pretend there’s a chance he’ll vote for Neleh, it ain’t happening.

Paschal is well enough to return for the final tribal council. He has nothing but ridiculously positive things to say.

Robert asks what they regret. This guy believes he’s all powerful. Although the two women would like to explain themselves in more detail, he just wants a quick answer and cuts both of them off for no good reason. Vecepia’s answer is what she did to Kathy. Neleh’s answer is going with Vecepia and Sean instead of Zoe and Robert.

Zoe merely offers her congratulations.

Kathy asks Neleh what her most strategic move was. Day 24, when she finally started playing the game, and decided to get rid of the Rotu 4. The question for Vecepia is about her strategy of just waiting to be approached rather than doing anything on her own. Vecepia’s response is aimless rambling that really doesn’t answer anything, let alone the question that was posed to her.

John calls them both liars. Why the hell should he give them his vote? Neleh’s response is that she took him out, which was a good move. Vecepia responds that she had a strategy, whatever it was. John expected an apology from Neleh, when no apology was warranted. She got the best of him, and he got what he deserved for his excessive display of arrogance.

By a vote of 4-3, the Survivor: Marquesas winner is Vecepia Towery. Oh my heck. The difference: Neleh not apologizing to John. While he didn’t deserve an apology, she should have known him well enough to know he felt he deserved one. Ultimately, Zoe notwithstanding, old Rotu voted for Vecepia, unable to get over the fact that she caused them to lose.

Big Brother 11 Episode 25

Michele won the power of veto to save herself in Big Brother 11 Episode 24, putting the couple in danger of eviction.

Having been evicted, Russell gets to join Lydia and Jessie in the jury house, where Lydia still has a crush on Jessie regardless of all her earlier protesting to the contrary. His first words to them to them involve the term technotronics. Jessie has begun informing the jury one at a time that Natalie’s really 24, not 18, something Kevin figured out on night one. The boys agree that they would consider voting for Jeff if he makes it to the end.

Kevin knows that the word lie is in Natalie’s name, but he has no choice but to trust her.

Jeff attempts to use guilt to get Natalie to keep him in the house, as if that wouldn’t be a stupid move on her part.

We have a tie. In the event of a tie, the HOH must cast the deciding vote. Kevin votes to evict Jeff. Once he used that coup d’etat, his game was over. No way he was gonna be able to convince Natalie and Kevin to forget that. He wouldn’t change a thing, whether he’s sitting out there talking to Julie or not. Speaking of Julie, she wants to know where the goodbye kiss was.

The HOH competition is true or false questions based on events that have happened outside the house, which means it’s pretty much anybody’s guessing game. Casey has begun selling banana-themed merchandise online, which Jordan guesses correctly for a point. Everybody guesses correctly that Laura did not say she got evicted because she’s beautiful. Natalie and Jordan are correct that Lydia and Jessie are still speaking to each other. Everybody guesses correctly that Ronnie received more votes than Chima in the coup d’etat vote. Natalie answers correctly that Ronnie did not go to a sci fi convention dressed in his space princess costume. That brings us to a three-way tie. The tiebreaker is a question of how many total cans all five competing houseguests had in their tubes at the end. Michele answers 65, Natalie answers 75, and Jordan answers 224, a mathematical impossibility. Natalie wins HOH, as the correct answer is 91. She’s guaranteed herself a spot in the final three, but there’s nothing she can do to save her buddy Kevin unless she wins veto.

America’s Got Talent Season 4 Episode 22

10 of the top 20 performed in America’s Got Talent Season 4 Episode 21, and tonight 4 will move on to the finals.

Arcadian Broad, The Texas Tenors, and Drew Thomas Magic step forward. Drew Thomas Magic is the first act to go home. The Texas Tenors advance to the next round.

Tony and Rory, Grandma Lee, and Paradizo Dance are next. I’m assuming it’ll be Grandma Lee. Paradizo Dance is the next act to go home. Excellent act, but they just didn’t bring it strong enough last night. The next act to join the finals is Grandma Lee.

So just out of curiosity, why exactly is Hasselhoff singing?

Kevin Skinner, AcroDunk, the Voices of Glory, and the Fab Five step forward next. That basically gives everybody who’s not Kevin Skinner a 1 in 3 chance. It comes as no surprise to anyone that Kevin Skinner is going to the next round. The next act to go home is AcroDunk. Back in season 1, they were also eliminated in the semifinals.

That leaves the two acts that came in fourth in fifth in the audience vote, and it’s up to the judges who will go to the finals. Sharon doesn’t want to make a choice. David wants time to think. Piers will speak for the panel. Both acts are going through to the finals.
