Survivor Cook Islands Recap & Info: A Closer Look

Survivor Cook Islands Episode 7: “A Closer Look”

Turns out tonights episode of Survivor Cook Islands wasn’t even a true blue episode. For whatever reason the folks over at CBS decided they would be better off running a recaps and never before seen footage episode instead of the usual back stabbing, fish eating, coconut milk drinking, battle to the death.

CBS branded tonights episode as a never before seen footage episode, but mostly recapped the past six episodes, adding in unseen footage here and there. So instead of boring everyone and writing about all the crap you can already find in old survivor recaps, I’ll highlight the unseen footage they decided to air.

Find out what you missed after the jump!

Survivor Cook Islands Recap: Double Elimination

Tonight’s episode of Survivor Cook Islands started off with Adam and Christina getting into a bit of a fight, of sorts. Apparently Christina doesn’t like to be called annoying or bitched about by everyone without her knowing it. I wonder why.Over at Raro Playboy Foursome star Ozzy is fishing up a storm, catching a boat load, as usual. Jon is in his usual seat on the boat playing the fish holder boy. It also comes out that Jon is feeling threatened and sees Ozzy as the biggest threat in Raro. Duh!

Back at Aitu Cao Boi gets into it with everyone, again. This time it’s because he wants to bring the immunity idol to the reward challenge, even though it’s not needed. Apparently he has some kind of weird attachment to it and the spirit it represents and thinks it would be good to bring it every where they go. Jon confronts him and tells him no, cause it’ll be like rubbing it in the other teams face and Cao Boi ends up giving up.

Survivor Cook Islands Reward Challenge

Tonight’s reward challenge is a special one and comes with an interesting twist. The winning team will get to chow down on lamb shanks, bread and apple cider, but will also have to go to tribal council and vote one of their tribe members off the island. But, in another twist of good news, they wll get to chow down on their food while sitting in the jury section, listening in to the other tribes tribal council. Now, on to the reward challenge:

  • Each tribe must select 3 of its members to hold on to a post as hard as they can
  • The remaining members of each tribe then attack the person on the post of the opposite tribe in groups of two, trying to pull them off the post and drag them over the finish line

Becky and Jessica latch on to Jenny and manage to pull her off her post and across the finish line first. While Parvati and Rebecca have a heck of a time getting Candice off her post and over the line. She fights back hard and raro ends up losing a lot of time. Nate is the second to be pulled from his post and dragged across the finish line, while the other team finally manages to get Candice across the finish line. Quickly making up ground are Adam and Brad as they manage to pull ozzy off his post and across the line fairly quickly, but not quick enough, as Becky and Jessica get Christina across the line and win it all for Aitu!

Back at Aitu Cao Boi wakes up and tells Yul about some crazy dream he had. Cao Boi’s dream gave him an idea, an idea on how to really mix things up in Aitu. Cao Boi’s “voodoo” plan is to get the tribe to split the votes, 3 for jonathan, 3 for someone else, in the hopes of sucking the hidden immunity idol out of Jonathan. Only problem is, Jonathan didn’t find the idol, Yul did, so naturally, Yul loves the idea.

Back at Raro Nate catches another octopus and Christina is chatting it up with everyone, trying to earn herself a second chance. After working on nate a little, he heads over to chat with Sundra and they consider keeping Christina around. It also comes out that the girls in general don’t seem to like Jonathan and they all seem to get a kind of untrustworthy creepy vibe from him. That’s no surprise, just look at his eyes.

Aitu Tribal Council

Cao Boi decides to bring the immunity idol to tribal council and it starts an entire line of questions from Jeff Probst. The whole Q&A portion is pretty much taken up by talking about Cao Boi and Jonathan.

Raro Tribal Council

And before the votes are cast, Jeff Probst reveals yet another twist. The winning members of Aitu get to pick one person from the Raro tribe to kidnap and have join their tribe until the end of the next reward challenge. Making the right choice protects the person from being eliminated and adds more strength to the Aitu tribe for the next reward challenge.

Survivor Cook Islands Recap: Stephanie Eliminated

Welcome to the Cook Islands and the October 12th Survivor Cook Islands Recap:

This weeks episode kicks off with a pleasant site, the boys of Raro sitting around, chatting and “brushing” their teeth with make shift toothbrush crafted from what looks like pieces of bambo? While sitting around socializing, the guys get to chatting about the girls and start to get themselves a little worried, so what do they do? *gasp* They actually work! Everyone shoots off in different directions. Nate rounds up a big ol’ pile of firewood, brad goes fishing and adam goes crabbing. I wonder if the girls notice the sudden change of pace? Hehe, yup, they sure did.

Survivor Cook Islands Info

Apparently, before coming a big time Survivor star, Jonathan was a star of another kind. In fact, he starred in a movie along side Jason Alexander, better known as George from Seinfield. The movie, Down on the Waterfront, even scored itself an Emmy nomination. How cool is that? It turns out Ozzy isn’t the only one that’s acted before.

Back on the Aitu beach, the girls are having a gross out event of their own, comparing armpit hair. Yummy! It’s a good thing Cao Boi decided to go fishing, if he was around he may have joined in and probably would have lost. Yuck.

Survivor Cook Islands Recap

This weeks episode of Survivor kicks off with a sulky and emo sounding Ozzy, complaining about how he feels like an outcast in the new tribe. I have to say, I can see why, he’s the only member of his original tribe left on his new tribe and he doesn’t really seem to fit with anyone else in the tribe. Although, you’d figure he might be a little more comfortable, he seemed to manage in Playboys Foursome no problem, I’m sure he can manage Survivor.

Candice returns from Exile island and the lazy ass boys on Rarotonga make a pact to stick together. I guess they don’t realize that the girls out number them, but they’ll realize that soon enough.

Survivor Cook Islands Reward Challenge
Reward: 3 Blankets, 2 Pillows and 1 Hammock.

  • Two tribe members attached together by a rope.
  • The remaining tribe members must push, pull and drag the teathered tribe members through an obstacle course.
  • Once through the course, one member must swim out to a marker, dive down and retreive a ships wheel decoder.
  • Once back on land the team must use the ships wheel to successfully decode a sentence.

Everything starts off as all square and both teams manage to stay even through the second portion of the obstacle course. It isn’t until Rarotonga gets hung up on their ropes that Aitutaki breaks into a pretty big lead.

Ozzy for Aitutaki busts it into the water and is back on the beach, starting to decode before Rarotonga has even managed to get themselves untangled. But Rarotonga’s luck runs out briefly as they get stumped by the puzzle and Aitutaki recovers fully. Both teams are scrambling to decode the sentence, but only one team manages to pull it off first and Aitutaki walks away with the win and some comfy bedding. But before they walk away as survivor reward challenge winners, they send Adam of Rarotonga to Exile Island.

Survivor Cook Islands Recap: Cecilia Eliminated

Tonight’s episode of Survivor Cook Islands certainly proved to be an interesting one and had a few twists and turns that I definitely wasn’t expecting. Now, on to the recap:

The Aitutaki tribes members start the show off by sitting around their camp talking about Billy’s supposed “love at first sight” bought with Christina. What an idiot, if he wasn’t going home already, that stupid comment was certainly the nail in his coffin.

Over at the Puka beach some spear fishing is happening and a fair amount of fish are falling victim to speary-wrath and Cao Boi is rambling on about something, naturally. Brad’s getting really sick of listening to Cao Boi ramble on all the time and has taken to blocking him out. I have to admit, I liked Cao Boi at first for his excentric nature, but now he’s just annoying me. Sorry buddy.

At the Rarotonga beach tree mail is being broken out and it mentions something about using your brains and baun to further your stay in the game. Kind of early for a challenge though, wonder what that could mean? Oooooooh, I know what it means:

Tribal Change Up:

In an interesting twist of events, all four teams meet Jeff Probst for waht they think is a challenge, but walk into a full out tribal switcheroo. Yul returns from Exile Island (having found the immunity idol, I remind you) and all the teams are seperated into two rows, men and women.

Jeff Probst comes around with a sack and gets all the male Survivors to pick a tile out of the bag and to hide it in the palm of their hands. Jeff then grabs a seperate bag and pulls the same trick with the female Survivor. Interesting.

All of the Survivors show their tiles and the ones with X’s are selected as new team captains. The captains come out as:

  • Cecilia
  • Parvati
  • Brad
  • Jonathan

The two men and two women then throw down some rock, paper, scissors action to see who gets to pick for their team first. The teams ended up coming out as:

Survivor Cook Islands: Ozzy Featured in Playboy’s “Foursome”

Well, it happens every time, when a new season of a reality TV show comes out, especially one as popular as Survivor Cook Islands, someone always manages to dig up some dirt on one of the contestants.

This seasons feature is the strapping young Aitutaki member Ozzy, who apparently is about as shy of walking around naked as Richard Hatch, winner of the first season of Survivor.

Ozzy, one of the current favorites to win Survivor Cook Islands, was featured on Playboy TV‘s reality TV series “Foursome.” Foursome was a reality TV dating show that aired on Playboy TV that “captures every passionate moment on tape!”

I can’t wait to hear what other dirt will be dug up on this seasons contestants. This one will be pretty hard to top though, with the shear funny factor of it.

Survivor Cook Islands Recap: Billy Eliminated

Tonight’s episode of Survivor Cook Islands started off with the usual recap of the last episode.

Manihiki camp:

Everyone’s trying to get the first going and they’re having one hell of a rough time getting it going, or at least Nathan was. Rebecca steps up to the plate, gives it a few goes and BAM! Fire. Looks like the girls of Manihiki made the right decision booting Sekou and aren’t going to need the boys around for much other than challenges.

Aitutaki camp:

Everyone’s out in the rocks spear fishing and they’re all doing a really good job. Ozzy comes up with a few fish and the girls manage to nail a few crabs and even some clams. Tonight’s dinner is going to be a seafood beach bash.

Once back to homebase Christina tells her story about being a cop, getting shot in the arm and almost having to lose the arm. That is one tough chick, better watch out for her.

Apparently there are chickens running around on the islands and, by the looks of it, a fair amount of them. Ozzy rigs a trap in the hopes of catching some and ends up catching 1 chicken first shot. Mmm Chicken!

Puka camp:

Yul has the same idea for the chickens, puts together his own chicken trap, road runner box balanced on a stick style. Yul sets the trap, waits, pulls the rope and nails two chickens first try. Take that Ozzy!

After scoring some chicken for everyone Yul has a chat with Becky and they form a Korean alliance, sorta? Could be interesting to see how that plays out. I don’t trust her myself.

Rarotonga camp:

Jonathan gets back from Exile Island (cue monty python style “Yay”) and right away he steps up, takes charge and puts the tribe into action… sorta. The tribe has been sleeping on the ground since they got there and Jon wants to get a floor together so the tribe can sleep, you know, NOT on the ground. Amazingly enough, Adam seems to be the only person stupid enough to argue about NOT spending time making a floor cause he doesn’t see what good it will do. Wow, apparently he’s never watched Survivor before, idiot.

Survivor Cook Islands: Is it all BS?

A fellow Vancouver Blogger that goes by the name Gus Greeper has a really interesting entry about this season’s Survivor Cook Islands. Apparently she went to the Cook Islands with her family in 1998 and from how she’s describing everything, it sounds like a lot of the aspects of this seasons Survivor are complete bs. Just a few points out of the post that make me go hmmm, are:

  • “There are fifteen islands in total. The main island whose name and capital is Rarotonga is so small you can ride a motor scooter around it in approximately twenty minutes.”
  • “ALL of the tribes are on Rarotonga although they are trying to make it look like they are using multiple islands they are not. Exile Island takes no more than ten minutes to swim out to I don’t remember exactly but I reached it without problem.”
  • “The white guys are at the park where I ran the triathlon. They could head over to the ‘Fruits of Rarotonga’ for a fruit smoothie.”
  • “The one group on aitutaki are in the lagoon where all the nice resorts are. It just kills the illusion that they are out in the wilderness.”
  • “And the reason that they stopped chasing the chicken is they would have run out on the road and been run over. You may have noticed in one shot when they were chasing the chicken that there was a pile of poles lying on the ground, you can’t cut trees in the park so they have supplied them with poles. Plus I think if you check they do not have bamboo in that part of the world. We have been all over that island I have never seen any.”
