Lost Season 6 Episode 15

Posted by Shane on Saturday, May 15, 2010 at 10:39 am

Locke managed to get everybody into a tight spot from which they could not escape in Lost Season 6 Episode 14. This was sufficient to get Sayid and Sun out of the way, while Jin was silly and took the bullet to be with his wife. Now Locke wants to finish the job he started.

A pregnant woman, Claudia, makes her way on the beach from a wreck. This would be a good time to give birth then. It’s a boy. His name is Jacob. Then another boy. Before his mother can name him, the other woman on the island apologizes for having to kill Claudia.

Years later the two brothers are chasing after food, when they come upon some men in the jungle. These men don’t belong here. Unlike Jacob and his family, who are there for a reason. His mama’s lesson for them is that people hurt other people and should be avoided as a result.

They are the protectors of a light, the brightest warmest light they’ve ever seen. A little of this light is in every person. It can’t be taken from the island, but it can go out. If it goes out there, it goes out everywhere. Jacob’s mom can’t protect the light forever, so one of them will have to do so.

While they’re playing a game, Jacob’s nameless brother sees their real mom. She tells him Jacob can’t see her because she’s dead. So will he come with her? Sounds like a good idea. She brings him to see a group of people who arrived on a ship the day before they were born. He’d like to leave now, but Jacob’s not interested. Looks like Jacob is stuck being the protector then.

Years later still, Jacob’s all growed up. He goes to visit his still nameless brother, the man in black. His people are greedy, manipulative, untrustworthy, and selfish, but they’re a means to an end, getting off the island. He’s finally found a way. They have discovered the light, which when combined with water will get him off the island using a system they’re designing. After his mom says goodbye, she says she’s so sorry. We learned what that means already. She kills him, too.

Afterward, she takes Jacob back to the light, passing the torch on to him. It’s his turn to protect it now. But he can’t ever go down there.

The man in black is not quite so dead, but we knew that. However, his plan to get off the island is buried, and his village and people are burned. He’s going to have to seek revenge on his mother, killing her back at her camp. Jacob sees this act. He’s not going to kill his brother because he can’t. She made him that way. What he will do is send him down to the light, a fate worse than death. That would explain where the black smoke comes from.

Jacob takes the two stones, one light and one dark, from their game that he finds next to his mother’s body and puts them in a pouch. This pouch is later discovered by Jack, along with the bodies of Jacob’s mother and brother.

Heroes Cancelled

Posted by Shane on Friday, May 14, 2010 at 9:42 pm

When season 4 wrapped in February, it didn’t seem like a move that would indicate a great deal of faith in the show that has continued to slump, putting up 4th place numbers by its finale. Heroes has been on the fence for a while now but nonetheless has continued to survive the axe. That streak has come to an end as NBC has cancelled Heroes.

Even the lack of Leno (and the resulting 5 extra hours) was not enough to save one of the network’s most expensive shows. Apparently, on top of the fact that cheap to produce shows like The Biggest Loser can deliver worthwhile ratings, NBC has a bunch of new shows on the horizon for next season.

So what’s next for Heroes? It may end up getting an additional final episode or so. At some point. Possibly. Certainly would be nice to not leave the show as they have.

FlashForward Cancelled

Posted by Shane on Friday, May 14, 2010 at 9:26 pm

Watching FlashForward continuing to decline in ratings, the skepticism of whether it would return for season 2 or not has grown. As its ratings in adults 18-49 dipped into fifth place below The CW’s lone shining star The Vampire Diaries, it became only a matter of time before the decision was made to cut ties with FlashForward. Now ABC has made it official, and FlashForward has been cancelled.

Before FlashForward came along, the last program to beat Survivor in the demo was Friends. Despite its impressive start, FlashForward slowly but surely started to decline.

Then ABC decided to put this brand new show on a 3 month hiatus. Well, that was the end of that. For those sci-fi fans still looking to tune into ABC, at least V, which suffered a similar but less severe fate, has been renewed.

The Vampire Diaries Season 1 Episode 22

Posted by Shane on Thursday, May 13, 2010 at 7:45 pm

John managed to get his hands on that invention he was seeking in The Vampire Diaries Season 1 Episode 21.

Elena is not Katherine. But she sure looks a lot like her in that 19th century clothing for the recreation of the battle.

Jeremy is defending his uncle for killing Anna’s mom. Kinda. He just wanted revenge on the tomb vampires and vice versa, but Pearl was not among those seeking revenge. Anna’s been thinking. She’s okay with turning Jeremy and running away together. When you’re a vampire, you don’t have to feel. He doesn’t think he can, but he’ll keep her blood around.

Stefan breaks the news to Elena: her uncle is her father. This would be bad news because she hates him.

Damon is very grateful to Bonnie for removing the spell from the device. If only she actually had done so.

According to John, the vampires will be attacking tonight. That makes this an ideal opportunity to use the device, which can only be used once for 5 minutes and will incapacitate any vampire within a 5 block radius.

Seeing as he’s in love with her, Elena would appreciate it if Damon would stop with the flirty little comments and that eye thing he does.

What can Elena do to fix things with Jeremy? Apparently, going to hell would help.

Having been informed of John’s plan, the sheriff says no. Well, John says yes. Case closed, even if he has to knock her out and cuff her.

Anna alerts Damon of the imminent attack. The vampires plan to wipe out the founding families. Damon warns Stefan and Elena. The mayor begs his son Ty, as well as Matt and Caroline, to get out of there.

Shortly thereafter, the device is activated. All the vampires fall in pain because of the noise that only they can hear. So why can Tyler hear it, wrecking his car? The mayor, too, collapses.

Alaric steps in to make sure the cops don’t grab Stefan. Damon and Anna aren’t quite so lucky. Not wanting to wait until she’s burned alive, John stakes Anna. Now would be a good time for Damon to tell the mayor the truth about himself. He’s there because he’s a vampire. What’s the mayor’s excuse? If he’s not a vampire, what the hell is he? Whatever he is, one of the vampires wants to test what snapping his neck will do to him.

Stefan heads into the burning building to save his brother. As her way of apologizing for being a liar, Bonnie makes the flames die down so Damon and Stefan can flee the building while they’re still among the undead. As much as Stefan would like to hate his brother, it’s pointless to try.

Damon returns to Jeremy to tell him Anna’s dead, and he can take his suffering away again. The suffering isn’t going away, though. Damon’s advice is that life sucks whether you’re a vampire or not, but at least vampires don’t have to feel bad about it. That’s enough to convince Jeremy to drink that Anna blood he’s been saving, then overdose on some pain pills.

Matt and Ty walk away from the accident okay, but Caroline is in the hospital.

If Damon spills a drop of innocent blood, Bonnie will take him down. Good luck then. Damon’s got this weird feeling, though. He finds himself wanting to protect the town he once hoped to destroy. Then he kisses his pal Elena.

John’s having a talk with his daughter, wanting to see if he can patch things up with her and get her to not hate him. Alas, he’s really talking to Katherine, who chops off his ring and proceeds to slice and dice. Yeah, that wasn’t the real Elena lip locked with her friend with benefits.

Following its run as The CW’s first success story, The Vampire Diaries season 2 is obviously going to happen this fall.

Survivor: Heroes Vs. Villains Episode 13

Posted by Shane on Thursday, May 13, 2010 at 6:45 pm

Survivor: Heroes Vs. Villains Episode 12 featured a double elimination. First, Candice was voted out because she flipped, and although this cost her in the end and people will paint her flipping as the wrong move, it’s easy to argue to the contrary. Then, after Russell decided he’d had enough of Danielle and Parvati, he and for some reason Jerri decided to get rid of Danielle.

Jerri says that now they gotta get rid of Rupert and Colby. Yeah, Jerri (specifically Jerri) already blew two chances to do that.

Parvati doesn’t trust Russell at all, but she’ll still play nice for the time being. She’s worried she’s next. No kidding. Russell can’t be trusted. He pulls off a bunch of crazy game changing moves that never make a great deal of sense, although you’ve gotta give him credit for being able to dupe all these people, some of whom are not idiots.

Treemail’s a Palm Pre. I’m gonna guess Sprint paid for this ad because Palm’s past the point of bothering, currently selling somewhere below “other” (maybe things will be better over at HP when they start making tablets). On the phone are videos from their families. If they want some more love, they have to win the challenge. They will use a pail to scoop water out of the ocean and pass it to their loved ones, who will dump it into their buckets. The winner will go to the blowholes to experience the natural wonder and get some food. Colby’s getting angry with his big brother. Russell, Jerri, and Rupert are competing for the win. Russell’s bucket is the first to move, but Jerri and her sister Jennifer win reward. Russell wants to go. She will be bringing Parvati and her father Michael. Can she take one more person? Yes, she can. Not Russell. Sandra and her uncle Fernando are also going.

Russell’s not happy, and Jerri knows it. If you’re going to vote stupidly, at least back that up with your other actions.

Back at camp, Russell takes credit for taking care of Jerri the entire time. Parvati, too, is an unappreciative little bitch. That said, he makes a final three deal with Colby and Rupert. Rupert doesn’t really trust this villain, but he’s a great guy to take to the end because nobody is going to vote for him. They’d like Russell to pretend like Jerri’s still on his side so that they can get rid of Parvati.

Rupert is keeping people up at night. This is a great time to do as much physical labor as possible.

With their arms outstretched, they will use the palms of their hands to hold two poles in the air. If their poles drop, they’re out. These poles are very light, and it won’t take much time for them to fall to the side. Speaking of which, Colby is out at 15 seconds. Sandra’s out after less than 1 minute. Russell is the next to fall. Just as Jeff’s saying that Jerri’s poles are dead center right where they started, she’s out. Rupert was one of the first to start shaking, but he’s still up there with Parvati at 17 minutes. Rupert’s flirting with disaster and is on the edge of elimination. Parvati starts to move as well. In the end, Parvati wins immunity.

Russell’s plan to take out another ally is up in smoke. Now he’ll have to burn his newest alliance instead, aiming for Rupert.

Sandra wants to get rid of Russell. Still. Armed with this information, Rupert goes to Russell to warn him about the girls. Russell approaches Sandra, who says she’s against him, but he ain’t going anywhere. Her advice to Rupert: loose lips sink ships. Now that they’re pushing his buttons, Russell wants to get rid of Sandra, too.

This is the final night on which Sandra can use her hidden immunity idol. Better safe than stupid. She would hate to go home with the idol in her bra, so she plays it. Nobody had any idea.

American Idol Season 9 Episode 38

Posted by Shane on Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at 8:45 pm

Aaron Kelly was sent home in American Idol Season 9 Episode 37. Tonight the top 4 perform songs from the cinema with mentor Jamie Foxx. They will be performing duets to go along with their solo performances.

Lee DeWyze
Song: Kiss from a Rose by Seal from Batman Forever
Randy: Did nothing with that song. Just okay.
Ellen: Could have done more with the song, but you’re so good.
Kara: One of the most difficult songs to sing. You got lost a little.
Simon: Verging on karaoke.

Michael Lynche
Song: Will You Be There by Michael Jackson from Free Willy
Randy: Didn’t ever take off and started kinda rough.
Ellen: Little bit predictable.
Kara: Didn’t feel that from you. Played it safe.
Simon: No idea what Free Willy is and can’t make sense out of this.

Lee DeWyze and Crystal Bowersox (talk about your stacked deck)
Song: Falling Slowly by Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova from Once
Randy: Great song by two great singers. That could be a hit right now.
Ellen: Like the new Captain & Tennille.
Kara: One of my favorite moments of the entire season. Brought out the best in both of you.
Simon: Fantastic song.

Casey James
Song: Mrs. Robinson by Simon & Garfunkel from The Graduate
Randy: Kind of cool, laid back version of the song.
Ellen: Wish you would have gone further with it. I’ll turn it over to Mrs. Robinson.
Kara: Like to see you vulnerable and in touch with the song.
Simon: Didn’t think the song or the performance had the substance required on this important night.

Crystal Bowersox
Song: I’m Alright by Kenny Loggins from Caddyshack
Randy: Definitely an artist.
Ellen: Made that song better.
Kara: Completely agree with Ellen and Randy.
Simon: Back in the game.

Casey James & Michael Lynche
Song: Have You Ever Really Loved a Woman by Bryan Adams from Don Juan DeMarco
Randy: Loved the guitar playing.
Ellen: Yes, I have loved a woman.
Kara: The duets were incredible. Better than all of the solo performances.
Simon: Really good. The duets were a million times better than the solo performances.

The Biggest Loser Season 9 Episode 17

Posted by Shane on Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at 6:45 pm

With the others worried about breaking up the final pair, Sam was voted out in The Biggest Loser Season 9 Episode 16.

Sam and Sunshine say that Daris and Ashley are ridiculous and stupid. As upset as Koli is about what’s happened, it’s hard to take his point as anything but anger that a relative was voted out.

This week there will be no yellow line. Friendships and alliances won’t help. That makes the threesome pointless, eliminating gameplay at one of the game’s most pivotal moments. The person with the lowest percentage of weight loss will be below the red line and automatically eliminated, while everyone above it will automatically be in the final four.

Helen (winner of The Biggest Loser 7) and Erik (season 3 winner who gained it all back) have returned. Erik’s making an effort again and has dropped down to around 300 now. They break off with each of the contestants to answer their questions. It doesn’t end here at the ranch.

Bob senses some thick air, although the others are not wanting to jump at admitting it.

Regardless of having lost nearly 200 pounds, Michael’s still not in a good place. Either he gets over this, or he’s going to fall on his face and end up right back where he started. As he’s talking with Bob, he starts slamming and throwing things, storming out of the gym. This isn’t easy or fun. Well, hopefully that tantrum is out of his system and he’s ready to move on.

It’s the put the weight back on challenge, the exact same one from two seasons ago. At the top of each hill, they will remove the weight they gained for that given week. The challenge winner will get $10,000.

Sunshine: 97 pounds
Ashley: 136 pounds
Daris: 141 pounds
Koli: 159 pounds
Michael: 192 pounds

Daris and Sunshine jump out of the starting gates pretty quickly, with Koli on their heels. Michael can barely pull his weight when it’s on the ground, a reminder of just how miserable he was. Daris has opened up a nice lead over everybody else. It’s not even a question who’s going to end up winning this challenge. Sunshine and Koli are neck and neck placing second and third. They head back out to help Ashley and Michael as they lug their former weight through the course.

Bob brings the contestants shopping and to meeet Tony Romo, quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys. He’s apparently another spokesperson for Danskin Now and Starter. Once that commercial is over, they get to see videos of what they looked like when they first got there.

Michael gets to meet with Dr. H again. He takes a look at side by side picture of himself, noticing he no longer looks half dead. His know your number health scores have dropped down to 38 years from 54 and to 1% risk from 15%.

For the person with the highest percentage of weight loss, Curtis Stone will be visiting their home to help them keep losing weight.

Michael: 322 pounds (-12, 3.59%) - over 200 pounds lost
Koli: 231 pounds (-13, 5.33%)
Daris: 195 pounds (-10, -1, 5.37%) - over 150 pounds lost
Ashley: 231 pounds (-7, 2.94%)
Sunshine: 176 pounds (-2, 1.12%)

Having fallen below the red line, Sunshine is not The Biggest Loser. She’s no longer having to wear a men’s XL jersey and is tailgating the healthy way for the first time with grilled turkey burgers, grilled asparagus, fresh fruit, and a black bean salad. From her starting weight of 275, she is now down to 162.

Stay tuned to dingoRUE for another live recap of The Biggest Loser Season 9 Episode 18, which airs Tuesday at 8/7c on NBC.
