The CW Picks up Vampire Diaries

The CW has greenlighted a pilot based on the Vampire Diaries books, Variety reports. Diaries comes from Alloy Entertainment, which is also behind Gossip Girl and Privileged.

Kevin Williamson (Dawson’s Creek) will write and exec produce, along with Julie Plec (Kyle XY).

The Vampire Diaries books focus on a young woman who’s torn between two vampire brothers, one good and on evil.

The CW’s predecessors were certainly no stranger to vampire stories. Joss Whedon’s (whose current project Dollhouse is in the process of being killed by Fox on Friday nights) Buffy the Vampire Slayer aired for 7 years (5 on The WB and 2 on UPN), while Angel aired for 5 years on The WB.

Lost Season 5 Episode 4

Lost Season 5 Episode 3 continued the saga of the time travelers. Dan is trying to disarm a hydrogen bomb, while Locke has bumped into a young Charles Widmore. At the end of the episode, Charlotte collapsed.

The night before they came up with the lie, Kate and Jack agreed they were together in convincing the others to lie. That was the same night Kate came up with the idea of keeping Aaron as her own because she couldn’t lose anybody else.

At the hotel, Sun gets a delivery containing pictures of Ben and a gun.

After some prodding from Juliet, Dan admits he thought this might happen to Charlotte. It’s like really bad jetlag. He doesn’t know why it isn’t happening to everyone else.

Kate pays a visit to the lawyer. She agrees to give the blood samples only if she can first talk to the client, who probably won’t cooperate but does want to handle the exchange of custody quietly. She’s warned she’s going to lose the boy.

Locke wants to go back to the Orchid. He knows Ben used it to save the island and thinks he can reverse it if he brings them back. He has to make them come back… even if it kills him.

Charlotte awakens, feeling a bit dizzy but saying she’s fine.

Sayid had the equivalent of three doses of horse tranquilizer in his system, but he’s doing fine. He gets a visit from a man with a gun who needs to be subdued before he can tranquilize him again. He’s working for the person at the address in his pocket, which Jack says is Kate’s address.

Jack gets a call from Hurley, who’s in jail and feels happy he’s totally safe because he Ben’s never going to get him now.

Jack wants to see Kate, who reluctantly agrees to tell him she’s downtown. Ben wants to go deal with Hugo, and Sayid likewise is reluctant but cooperative.

The island group is walking and sees a bright light, which Locke wants to avoid. He seems to know when they are, even if nobody else does. As they’re walking, they hear screaming. It’s Claire as she’s giving birth, complete with nurse Kate to drive Sawyer nuts. Then there’s another flash.

When Jack gets to Kate’s car, she wants him to just go. She tells him what’s going on, but she has someone to follow, so he has to hop in.

Miles got a nosebleed. Dan thinks it has to do with duration of exposure, but Miles has never been there before two weeks ago. Is he sure of that?

They have finally managed to find their camp, but everything and everyone is gone, as is the boat. They do have a boat that was left behind, though, even if it doesn’t have a motor. As they’re rowing, shots are fired from behind. Two can play at that game, as Juliet grabs a gun as well. They’re saved by a flash. When Sawyer thanks the lord for this good fortune, they’re now in the same boat in the middle of a monsoon. The bullets were probably better.

Kate and Jack see who wants the kid. It’s Claire’s mother. Jack volunteers to go fix this. He tells her the whole story. Only she doesn’t know who Aaron is. Jack comes running out to warn Kate that she’s not who they’re looking for and that they need to go get Aaron.

Ben’s told by his lawyer that Hugo will be a free man in the morning.

Sawyer doesn’t want to talk about seeing Kate again, but Juliet gets it out of him. Well, she gets something out of him anyway… it is Sawyer. During their chat, it becomes Juliet’s turn to have a nosebleed.

They spot a wreckage from some French speaking people, who it turns out picked Jin up from the water.

Jack tells Kate about how Sayid’s attacker had her address in his pocket. He wants to make sure to get her and Aaron safe. Then Ben arrives… and apologizes for trying to steal Aaron. Sun’s there, too, Aaron in tow and gun in hand.

Jin may not be feeling all that well, but he’s alive. The French woman he’s talking to introduces herself to him. It’s Danielle, and she’s pregnant.

DTV Switch Delayed

Remember how the DTV transition delay was defeated? Well, that was last week. The House today approved a bill that will delay the digital switch from February 17 to June 12. Apparently three years wasn’t enough for some people to get the message. Can’t wait until June when it gets delayed another few months.

Kyle XY Season 3 Episode 4

In order to save Amanda from the thing Latnok put in her brain, Kyle figured out he needed to kiss her in Kyle XY Season 3 Episode 3. To get it right, though, he had to practice on Jessi. For some strange reason, Amanda got upset by this. Mark and Lori suffered similar chaos, as he was forced to stop seeing her.

Kyle is wallowing in his tub. Josh suggests some alone time with a magazine. Lori suggests music. Jessi plans to simply wipe Kyle’s memory of Amanda, until Nicole interrupts. When he walks out of the room, his phone rings. The caller ID says Foss.

Kyle, Jessi, Declan, and Josh head to The Rack, surprised to see Amanda’s working (Kyle thought he memorized her schedule). Not feeling welcome, Jessi walks out. Declan tells Kyle not to bother talking to Amanda because he’s finished and it’s over.

Lori’s moping, stuck, and carless, so she decides to go to the apartment with Jessi because it’s better than being at home, even if there is nothing to do there.

Declan drags Kyle and Josh to a bar that doesn’t check ID’s. Kyle arrives to find girls staring at him, which prompts him to want to call Amanda. Declan has a different idea… getting wasted. After he gets his buzz on, Kyle goes 6 minutes and 14 seconds without thinking about Amanda. Then they teach him that you can’t say “I love you” to another guy without having another word after it.

Jessi tells Lori the obvious: she’s romantically interested in Kyle. She thinks Kyle feels the same way, or he will eventually.

After bouncing some coins into a glass on the same table, Kyle offers to go double or nothing, betting that he can bounce a dime off a table, off the bar, a neon sign, a lightbulb, and the beer tap into the glass. He wins. Then he begins messing with the lights and moving things with his mind, admitting he was born in a pod. Foss calls him, but he’s more interested in telling a room full of strangers the truth, so he hangs up. Once he shows his lack of belly button, Josh and Declan drag him out of there, but not in time to prevent their car from being towed.

Lori manages to convince Jessi to go ahead and meet Cassidy at The Rack, instead of waiting around for months, years, or forever for Kyle to get over Amanda. Then Mark arrives. Apparently Cassidy is allowing him to see Lori now.

When they go to pick up their car from the impound lot, they’re asked for the registration, which is locked in the car.

Nicole tells Stephen he’s wrong for giving Lori such a hard time about seeing Mark, a nice young man who happens to work for an organization that may or may not be evil.

Josh climbs the fence and rips his shirt. Kyle takes a different approach and rips the fence down. Not feeling well, Kyle throws up so he feels better, or in his words alters the polarity of his liver to restore his body to homeostasis. Then Declan steals the car, but it’s Josh’s car. They shred the back tire during their getaway. Somehow this leads Declan to begin yelling at Kyle. It turns out he’s taking his ankle out on others. It’s been fractured for years and never healed right, so basketball’s history.

After some screaming, Mark stops Lori from bailing and kisses her.

As they’re stranded on the side of the road with a flat tire and no spare, the guy from the impound lot shows up to threaten them with a chain, which Kyle takes from him and uses to tie him up.

Cassidy is having a chat with Jessi and tells her to act on her special bond with Kyle. Well, things had been going fine anyway, but she’s suspicious now that he knows a name she’s never mentioned.

Josh and Declan want Kyle to tell Amanda the truth, but he can’t. He’s afraid he’ll lose her, not that he hasn’t already. They convince him he’s got nothing left to lose. As he goes to talk with her, though, Foss shows up. Adam died, which changes everything.

Heroes Season 3 Episode 14

Volume 3 Villains ended in December with Heroes Season 3 Episode 13.

Tonight is the start of Volume 4 Fugitives.

Nathan’s on the TV talking about his meteoric rise in such a short time. As Tracy’s watching the show, some guys dressed like ninjas break in with guns to taser her. They want Petrelli to know they got the first one.

Hiro’s got a lair now, and he hopes to get Ando to wear spandex and ride a motorcycle. He can track Ando’s position anywhere on the planet with a GPS implant. Ando takes off on the motorcycle, but he’s not wearing the spandex.

Peter’s a paramedic now, and a guy dies on the scene. He thinks he should have been stronger.

Angela is working on getting Claire into school. They want her to have a normal life, but she doesn’t believe that’s possible as long as Sylar’s still out there. Despite the fact that they found dental remains at Primatech, Claire doesn’t buy it and thinks Sylar is out there and killing, while HRG covers it all up.

Speaking of the devil, Sylar’s in a shop talking to Martin Gray, who 27 years ago went out to the store and never came back. Sylar says he’s his son and has some questions for him.

Daphne is using her speed in order to get finished with her job by 10 in the morning. Matt wants her to live a normal life like he’s trying to do.

Nathan doesn’t want Claire getting in the way when they take down Peter and Parkman, which Claire overhears by listening on the other line.

Martin tries to fake his way through this, but Sylar doesn’t believe a word. He wants to know who he really is. Martin was given Sylar by a man who needed money, his brother, who will presumably be paid a visit next.

One of Peter’s co-workers is afraid of Nathan because his family is from Iran.

Claire calls Peter to warn him about his mom and brother. So his reaction is to go see his mom. He gets in a cab where he finds Suresh is his driver. Suresh is trying to just be normal. Everybody’s under the radar, with the exception of Nathan. Mohinder would be completely fine with the government stepping in and trying to remove the threat of people with abilities, by whatever means necessary. As Peter hops out of the cab, the next customer has a gun. He leads him toward the men with the guns who got Tracy. Suresh may be surrounded, but ripping the door off the cab and using it as both a shield and a weapon proves effective. He runs and eventually meets up with HRG, who drives him a little way before tasering him himself.

Peter arrives at the house and finds Nathan, who says it’s all him and he’s doing what’s necessary. Despite the hostile tone of the meeting, Nathan asks for them to have dinner together, and Peter agrees. Nathan wants to know what Peter can do these days but doesn’t get an answer.

Usutu, the African painter, is there to see Parkman (only not really). This illusion tells him this is the calling to be a prophet. He can’t live a normal life because he’s not normal.

To Hiro’s dismay, Ando s using his Ando-cycle to pick up chicks at a strip club. When he hears Hiro getting roughed up and captured on the other end, though, he gets his game face on.

Parkman’s drawing is interrupted by a knock on the door. It’s Claire. They look at the drawings to try to figure them out. They’re of them, right now. When she asks what’s on his neck, he gets tasered. Excellent ability to see into the future 30 seconds. Claire is now surrounded.

Nathan wants Peter to tell him he’s with him, but Peter wants to fight him with every breath he has. So then he gets captured, too.

Sylar arrives to an empty home to look for Mr. Gray. The multiple taser blasts that ensue don’t slow him down any, and he breaks free. He wants one of the men, Agent Daniel Simmons, to tell him who sent him to the trap. With no answer, he just kills him.

Once he figures out Hiro’s not overly difficult password, Ando is now able to track Hiro because he, too, has a GPS inserted in himself.

They don’t have Sylar, but they do have Claire, who hates Nathan. But he gives her a free pass to go away and tells her to just forget everything she’s just seen. She takes that as an invitation to kick the guy driving her in the back of his head so she can hop on the plane that’s carrying the others. Once onboard, she frees and wakes everybody up. Peter takes care of the men who were supposed to be guarding the captives. Then she tells the men flying the plane, including copilot HRG, that they’re going to make an unexpected landing. Peter seems to have picked up a new power, the ability to freeze, which accidentally destroys part of the plane and gives them no choice but to land in a hurry. Peter attempts to hold on, but what he’s holding rips from the plane. Suresh reaches for Peter’s hand, and the start of the new volume ends as his grip begins to slip.

Lost Season 5 Episode 3

As those who remained on the island continue to go through their time loop, Ben was working on rounding up those who got off so that he could get them back there in Lost Season 5 Episode 2.

Charlotte has had some dizziness and double vision. So when’s Dan going to tell her what’s wrong? They and Miles arrive to a rigged explosion and a bunch of people with guns.

Although he realizes he sounds insane, Desmond still plans to go to Oxford.

Meanwhile, Juliet, Locke, and Sawyer are being distracted by some people they are holding hostage. Juliet says they know how to speak Latin because they’re others.

As they’re being escorted to the camp, Miles walks over a fresh grave, four US soldiers dead less than a month. The woman leading them calls for Richard, who assumes they’ve come back for their bomb.

Desmond arrives at Oxford to try to find Daniel’s mother. He’s told there is no record of her or her son. He goes snooping on his own, which he probably should have started off doing in the first place. The room is covered in sheets, but he does find a picture of Dan on the floor. He runs into a guy who tells him they’re covering up what happened and don’t want anyone to know about what Daniel was doing there.

Miles thinks they’re all dead, but Dan tells them they just need to keep it together until there’s another flash. In 5 minutes… or 5000 years. Daniel tells Richard that they need to let him render the bomb inert so that everybody doesn’t die. Oh, and by the way, he’s in love with Charlotte.

One of the hostages says that the rest of their people are either captured or dead because “that idiot” (aka Sawyer) shouted out “Meet at the creek,” so they knew exactly where they were headed and sent another group to get them there. Juliet asks in a dead language to bring them to their camp. He agrees, so the other guy kills him and runs away. Locke doesn’t shoot him because he’s one of his people.

Desmond knocks on a door to speak with Theresa Spencer. She’s lying in a bed being looked after because of the experiments Daniel was doing. Her sister Abigail says they wouldn’t be able to afford this if not for Mr. Widmore, the guy who funded the research and is paying the bills.

Richard gave the people who arrived the option to leave peacefully, but they were not interested, so he was forced to kill them all.

Sawyer wants to go save Farraday, but Locke would rather go finish his conversation with Richard.

Dan arrives to attempt to disarm a hydrogen bomb, which he realizes is unsafe. He’s pretty sure the chick holding the gun on him won’t shoot him since rifle fire isn’t the wisest option when near an atomic weapon. He asks for lead or concrete to fill the crack, and he plans to bury the bomb because that will make it safe. The reason he knows this is because 50 years from now the island is still there. After a little time travel story, Sawyer runs in with his gun to get her to drop hers.

Desmond charges into Widmore’s office. He wants to know where he can find Daniel Farraday’s mother. Not surprisingly, Widmore knows exactly where to look. He gives him the address and suggests he and Penny go back to where they were hiding rather than getting deeper involved in this mess.

Locke goes to the camp looking for Richard, saying that Jacob sent him. The guy with the gun at the camp is named Charles Widmore.

Even though he’ll probably keep waking up with memories, Desmond tells Penny that her and his son Charlie are his life now, but she knows he’ll never forget it, so the family will be going with him.

Locke asks Richard how to get off the island. It’s 1954 now, meaning Locke will be born in two years. He suggests that Richard come visit him if he needs proof. Before he can get an answer to his question, the flash happens again.

Shortly after the flash, Charlotte collapses.
