Jillian Michaels’ Fitness Ultimatum 2009 for Wii

It didn’t take long for the Wii Fit clones to start appearing. Jillian Michaels, best known for her role as one of the trainers on NBC’s The Biggest Loser, is working with Majesco Games (largely a budget game publisher) on Jillian Michaels’ Fitness Ultimatum 2009 for the Nintendo Wii.

“Wii and the Wii Balance Board have added a credible and effective new option for players looking to get in shape in a fun and entertaining way,” said Jesse Sutton, Chief Executive Officer, Majesco. “Jillian Michaels’ expertise in the fitness world coupled with the innovative Wii Balance Board lets us deliver a compelling game that will change the way America approaches home fitness.”

“As a huge gamer myself with younger siblings and godchildren, I recognize the importance of staying current with how people digest their media and information,” said Jillian Michaels. “I truly think this type of product will be instrumental in revolutionizing the fitness industry and will help combat the childhood obesity epidemic in this country today. I couldn’t be more excited about partnering with Interactive Game Group and Majesco to bring a family-oriented fitness video game to the market.”

Frederic Chesnais, founder of Interactive Game Group (I2G), added, “This project is exactly why I created I2G — to bring talented people together and facilitate the creation and distribution of highly-innovative interactive entertainment.”

In Jillian Michaels’ Fitness Ultimatum 2009 players become new recruits in Jillian’s boot camp where they enroll in a unique training program composed of fitness tests and a changing series of workouts. Players choose their workout from four types — Weight Loss, Strength Training, Intervals and Hill Climb — and set the intensity to light, medium or hard for a duration between 10 and 60 minutes. By completing Wii Remote and Wii Balance Board motion-based challenges that range from crossing monkeybars to climbing ladders and rowing, players can also unlock lifestyle and fitness video tips from Jillian. Players can even track their progress based on calories burned and workout intensity. In addition, a Competitive Party Mode lets two players race against each other through individual challenges or through the entire Physical Training course to earn the winning time.

Developed by 3G Studios, Jillian Michaels’ Fitness Ultimatum 2009 for Wii is expected to release this holiday season. I’ll greet this product with a healthy dose of skepticism, but it will be interesting to see how it works out.

The Apprentice UK Series 4 Winner

After Lucinda decided she was kinda sorta maybe still interested in being the next apprentice, Sir Alan decided he was not kinda sorta maybe still interested in her any more and decided to fire her in The Apprentice UK Series 4 Episode 11. That brought us down to the final four of Alex, Claire, Helene, and Lee, and that’s where Sir Alan wanted things to remain for the finale.

The final four are divided into two teams: Claire and Lee against Alex and Helene. Six of the castoffs return to work with them.

Claire selects Jenny C. Alex selects Raef. Lee selects Michael. Helene selects Kevin. Lee selects Simon. That leaves the other Jen on Helene and Alex’s team.

The teams are standing in a blank room, which is a canvas for their promotion of a new fragrance for the modern man, retailing at £29.95. Sir Alan informs them that whichever team loses, both will be fired, a twist I’m not particularly fond of.

Helene tells Alex she’s glad she’s working with him because Claire takes over and Lee is a nightmare.

Alex suggests he is the modern man. Lee is thinking metrosexual. Claire visits plumbers, which leads her to overthrow the metrosexual theme.

Helene is in charge of branding. After two hours brainstorming, she’s still stuck. Alex and Kevin have decided on the name Connect. Helene and her team hate it. Alex wants to know what she suggests. Silence. Kevin and Alex discuss how, despite it being a joint project management, Alex should be managing Helene. When they arrive to discuss bottle design, they still don’t have a brand name. Kevin makes a pitch to create a bottle made of a stress ball material. The designer says that’s a silly idea, but he runs with the concept of the regular large container and then a smaller one to go with it to carry with you. They’ve got a design ready, despite the lack of a brand.

Following 5 hours of brainstorming, Helene still has nothing. She’s also late for her focus group. Alex describes the bottle and once again brings up the name Connect. His other idea is Dual. She doesn’t want to hear it and has to go. Jen’s not any more impressed with her than Alex and Kevin are.

Lee’s concerned about the presentation, whereas his partner is the best presenter on the show.

Alex’s team finally has a brand name, Dual, which they’re using to promote the inner self that occasionally wants to come out. Nick is impressed by Alex, despite thinking Helene is useless.

Unlike Claire and Lee, who realize they’re competitors but also realize they need to work together or face being fired, Alex and Helene are approaching this task as competitors.

Helene hopes to have an unusual scent. She begins looking at things like chocolate and curry.

For their fragrance, Roulette, Lee wants to revive the old fashioned gambling gentleman. Their location is a night club that looks like a casino.

During a discussion of when they’re going to wake up, Raef, Jen, and Kevin walk out on Helene after getting tired of her. They leave Alex behind so she can yell at him.

Lee struggles to even practice the presentation and tells Claire he can’t do it.

Alex smells his fragrance. Probably not the wisest idea. Jen comments: it is quite… chocolatey.

Lucky for Lee, Alex and Helene’s team finds them boring, so it may not matter whether he can pull it together or not.

Lee tries to tell the audience that the metrosexual trends are dead and that there’s a new modern man. Granted, their actor in the commercial is apparently himself a metrosexual. Their fragrance is a spicy oriental blend. The audience has concerns about the gambling aspects of the campaign, but Claire does a good job of covering this. One comment they receive is that the product may not be particularly special, but it could sell reasonably well immediately without much work.

Alex and Helene receive a comment that they’ve done an extraordinary job considering the time frame they had to make the product. The concern raised about their product is the potential cost of the bottle, which they say will be slightly higher but should be manageable. The buyers suggest even the few percentage points higher is too much to leave room for advertising.

Claire and Lee’s team supports them fully. Nick’s not too thrilled with the gambling aspect. He says that Roulette = gambling = debt = misery. Harsh. The experts felt the fragrance was not distinctive. One said it was retro 1970s, which was what I thought the market they were going for was.

Kevin’s not quite so supportive of his project managers as the other team. Well, at least he’s not quite so supportive of one of them. He says the decisions were made by Alex. Their fragrance was definitely distinctive, although Sir Alan says it’s a copy of the perfume Helene wears. Sir Alan wants to know who came up with the idea of the dual bottle. Alex doesn’t really have an answer.

Sir Alan tells Lee his presentation was improved 100%, and Claire’s Q&A handling was brilliant. More importantly, though, is the cost of the dual bottle the other team had. While it may have been a great idea, it just doesn’t work at this price. Alex and Helene are fired.

So that brings us down to the final two: Lee and Claire.

Helene, who proved useless on the task, blames the loss on Alex because she didn’t design the bottle (or do anything else), which, therefore, must mean it’s not her fault. As skeptical as I was about whether Alex was more than just a pretty boy, Helene is someone who shouldn’t have been allowed in the final task to begin with.

Michael tells Sir Alan that Claire’s shown a lot of tenacity and has had the tougher route. Simon says he can’t choose between the two. Jenny is impressed by Lee’s chivalry, for whatever that’s worth.

Sir Alan calls Lee’s presentation improved but lacking, whereas Claire’s was superb.

Claire says that she’s learned throughout the process and has improved as time has gone by. She believes she’s the tougher person and won’t crumble.

Lee speaks to his record, which was the best of the final four.

Sir Alan is concerned about Lee being a one trick pony (sales), but he also raises concern about Claire’s general demeanor. Ultimately, he has decided that Lee is very, very convincing, and with that, he’s reached a decision. Lee is the winner of The Apprentice UK Series 4.

I’m less convinced than Sir Alan is. I’ve been a lot more impressed with Claire.

The Apprentice UK Series 5 will air next year, presumably around the end of March. In the US, The Celebrity Apprentice 2 starts in January. Stay tuned to dingoRUE for coverage of both.

Matt Moves Out of Shayne’s House

People have been asking since the night The Bachelor 11 ended whether Matt and Shayne are still together, and it looks like we may be one step closer to an answer of no. Matt Grant, who has lived with his fiancee Shayne Lamas since the show ended, moved out of her condo recently. But he insists everything is still okay between them.

“I had to get my own life out here (in L.A.),” Matt told People. “Get my career and friends and have my own circle. That’s important in a relationship. That you are not entirely on top of someone.”

“Early on in the relationship, people need a little space,” says Grant. “It’s almost to keep the spark — the romance — that exists in the first year of a relationship. Living together after knowing one another after four months is probably a little bit quick. Certainly for our generation.”

Matt acknowledges that the relationship has been a “difficult time,” largely due to external forces, but when asked if he’s in love, his response is “Definitely. I wouldn’t be engaged if I wasn’t.”

Farmer Wants a Wife Episode 6

Although Ashley proved to be a waste of space, Matt insisted on taking her on a date to get even more proof of it, and instead opted to finally get rid of Lisa in Farmer Wants a Wife Episode 5.

It’s spa day. The girls will be getting pedicures, manicures, and hair done by some local women. Christa is afraid.

Matt wants to see the girls put on a talent show for the town, and he’s brought in a truck of goodies to help them out. The townsfolk will judge who does the best. Ashley says this is her worst nightmare. She’d rather put her head in an oven. Who’s stopping her? In addition to having to come up with their own individual talents, which is easier said than done in itself, they must agree on a group skit, obviously leading to a fight. Kanisha gives us a bit of drama, deciding (for a few minutes) that she doesn’t want anything to do with the talent show.

Christa does, well, I’m not sure what she’s doing. It’s apparently singing. Ashley has warned us she’s talentless. She makes herself disappear. Now that’s a good magic trick. Kanisha does some hula hooping. Amanda sings the Star Spangled Banner. Brooke teaches the electric slide, which, of course, pisses off Christa (is there something that doesn’t make this girl angry?). The town votes for Brooke as the winner. She gets some boots as a prize.

A big yellow bus shows up to take them to a hog roast. Who gets to eat the face? Not Ashley. She’s revolted. Kanisha’s more open, looking to eat the ears and snout (and for some reason she wants to know whether it’s male or female). They decide to play truth or dare. Ashley wants to know if she’s going home tomorrow. If she has to ask, just send her home right now. He lets her know he’s got two people in mind, and she’s one of them. He wants to know whether she still wants to be there. She lies and says yes. At the end of the night, Brooke lets Matt know she wants to finally get a one-on-one date, as she’s the only person so far who hasn’t yet. Kanisha believes she’s the second person up for consideration to be leaving the farm.

For the elimination, they will be testing cows to see if they’re pregnant. They don’t have to pee on a stick. No, it’s worse than that. The girls will have to stick their hands into the rectum of a cow. Whoever gets a non-pregnant cow will be going back to the city. Yeah, I’m eating, by the way. It comes down to Ashley and Kanisha. Ashley is going home. Matt knows she already checked out and left a few days back. She leaves on a positive note, wishing the final four the best of luck, but she’s looking forward to getting back to the city.

Brooke will be getting her date. They go for a boat ride on the lake where they chat and kiss. Christa and Amanda remain jealous of her.

The Mole 5 Episode 2

The Mole returned after a 4 year hiatus with 11 new contestants trying to figure out who the mole is. At the top of The Mole 5 Episode 1, the majority of the people believed that Marcie was the mole, but in the end, she was the first person sent home. Meanwhile, Nicole turned out to be the whiner who is far too full of herself.

Paul’s coalition partner is already gone. Might need to come up with a new strategy here.

The first stop is a park in Santiago, Chile. The mission will be a race to the summit.

Mark and Kristen will be riding a bicycle built for two. The other 9 will be taking a 10 minute gondola ride up to the top, but they’ll need to earn their ticket to ride by playing football against one of the city’s “toughest and fiercest teams.” If the bikers win, they get an exemption. As they’re leaving, before they even start going, the chain comes off the bicycle. This keeps happening again and again, so they just decide to run for it.

Alex and Bobby had been in a soccer league, so the team is feeling good. It should come as no surprise to anyone that the tough, fierce team may have to stop for nap time part of the way through. The kids pretty quickly humiliate them. Nicole’s the goalie, but she doesn’t want to jump in the dirt to stop a ball. Bobby is once again dying from the exercise. Paul joins him and coughs up a lung. After 20 minutes with no goal, they’re given one more chance to score with penalty kicks. Ali manages to score a point. The players get gondola tickets and a map to the station, where they’ll need to go by foot. This proves difficult. First, they can’t decide where to go. Then Liz has to go to the bathroom, so she sits down and rests for a while.

Kristen and Mark see Jon, who offers them a taxi ride in exchange for $5,000 from the pot. Mark quickly rejects this and opts to continue biking.

The soccer players have made it to the summit, but the team’s pretty split despite the fact that they don’t see Kristen or Mark. To make matters worse, Kristen and Mark are hiding and jump out. Both of them have earned exemptions, and no money goes into the pot.

Pot total: $35,000 out of $120,000

Paul takes the opportunity at lunch to tear into Bobby. Nicole’s happy to not be the victim of the attacks for a change.

The players have received a ransom note for 50 ceramic pigs that have been spread throughout the town. They have approximately one hour (until 12 souvenir pigs can be made). The three groups of three will search for pigs. The group of two will be responsible for delivering them safely after the others use a slingshot to get them there.

Group of two: Liz and Paul
Group of three: Bobby, Kristen, and Craig
Group of three: Alex, Nicole, and Victoria
Group of three: Ali, Clay, and Mark

Alex speaks some Spanish because he took it in high school (so pretty much he probably knows colors, numbers, and where the library is). This is enough to get some help from the locals.

Bobby hops in a wheelbarrow and lets Kristen push him. One way or another, this guy is overacting. Either nobody will suspect him because he’s just too blatant, or everybody will suspect him because he’s just too blatant.

Paul hears something rattling in one of the pigs. He keeps shaking it and gets curious, knowing there’s an exemption. With that, he smashes it, and he’s right. He’s got this round’s third exemption.

Alex insists on using the slingshot for his group. He quickly proves disastrous. Craig wants a turn to help, which turns out to be a good idea, as they go from just one rescued pig to a respectable number.

Alex, Nicole, and Victoria: 26 pigs returned
Ali, Clay, and Mark: 18 pigs returned
Bobby, Kristen, and Craig: 0 pigs returned

Of the total 44 returned pigs, they managed to save 28 of them, for a total of $28,000 earned from this task.

Pot total: $63,000 out of $170,000

Alex left his journal in Bobby’s room. Whether he left it on purpose or not, Bobby is quick to take a lengthy look.

Ali suspects Alex. Craig suspects Mark. Alex suspects Nicole. Nicole suspects that Bobby’s either the mole or just sucks.

Clay is safe.
Alex is safe.
Victoria is safe.
Bobby is safe.
Liz is eliminated.

A few people have classy comments to say after Liz departs. Paul mostly just wants everybody to know that he hates Nicole and Bobby.

The Bachelorette 4 Episode 4

Richard was the first to get cut on The Bachelorette 4 Episode 3, as he did not receive a rose on their one-on-one date. Following him were Ron (who was begging to be sent home) and Paul (not sure why).

To earn their spot on the one-on-one date, each guy will have to write and perform a song for DeAnna. This would have been a big hit last season when every woman was auditioning for a singing gig (except the blonde chick who wanted to be an actress). DeAnna will be the judge. The guys all suck. Some worse than others. But the key theme is suckage. DeAnna has picked Jesse, who got down on his knees and held her hand while he was singing.

Jesse’s thinking of dressing down, but DeAnna has other plans. He’ll be wearing a tux. I’m not real clear what the point of this is. She says she doesn’t want to change him but wants to see whether he fits with her, which apparently means no goofy jacket and tennis shoes. They take a limo to a theater where it’s just the two of them. Just his luck, when they arrive, he gets to sing his song again. Jesse says he’s stubborn, but he knows DeAnna is as well. He tells her this whole process is real for him. Although she’s normally not attracted to guys like him, she appreciates Jesse. As they’re finishing dinner, she gives him the rose. After dinner, Natasha Bedingfield (apparently she won a Grammy) sings for them.

Brian, Twilley, Sean, Jeremy, Graham, and Jason get the group date. They will be driving stock cars. Whoever gets the fastest speed on three timed laps is promised something special. Graham lives in Manhattan, so he usually just takes the subway everywhere. DeAnna’s surprised that Jeremy didn’t win but was able to tell he’s a very competitive guy. Sean, who loves racing muscle cars, manages to win. With this win, he gets time alone with DeAnna, where he learns that she used to live in Kentucky. Graham decides he doesn’t want to kiss DeAnna because he doesn’t want to be one of a bunch. She lets him know she’s plenty unhappy with this. Following their alone time, DeAnna has decided to give Sean the rose, as he’s managed to change her mind about him.

The guys have a party, which doesn’t start well and continues to not go well. Brian likes hanging out with the guys, Sean’s getting back to the way he was before, and Graham’s ignoring DeAnna. As a joke, they set up a kiddy table for the guys living in the mansion. Robert takes issue with this and ends up sitting all by himself, so DeAnna confronts him. After a little chat, she drags him outside to start some yelling. She tells them to either handle it or go home, then she heads back to her house.

Robert and Fred are going on the two-on-one date, an interesting choice considering they were both living in the mansion for the week. They’ll be having dinner at a mansion. Robert believes she’ll only kiss one person on this date, so he rushes into that. Her response is to let him kiss her on the cheek. Fred’s in less of a rush and less flashy. He just wants to be there with her and spend some time getting to know her. We knew it before the date even started, and the way the date went, this comes as no surprise. Robert will not be getting a rose. It’s not over yet, though. Like Brad (whose name we have to hear for the 938th time), she’s dumping both people. In letting Fred down, though, she pays him a lot of compliments, but he was just stuck in the friendzone. The guys who don’t go on group dates are dropping like flies. This gives Jason the mansion alone to himself with DeAnna, where he’s waiting to comfort her.

Following the bloodbath, only one more person will be heading home.

Roses
Jesse
Sean
Jason
Jeremy
Twilley
Graham

Brian will be leaving tonight. He realizes that being too close to the guys but not being all that close to DeAnna was his downfall.

The Apprentice UK Series 4 Episode 11

After miraculously surviving firing after firing for weeks, Michael finally got the axe in The Apprentice UK Series 4 Episode 10. Despite her survival in the boardroom, Helene proved to be the newest person on borrowed time. Their teammate Claire showed once again she’s one of the top people. The other team, meanwhile, won in spite of themselves, rather than because of any overwhelming amount of talent.

It’s interview week. The final five will be interviewing with four of Sir Alan’s business colleagues: property tycoon Paul Kemsley, ex-Sir Alan employee Claude Littner, Viglen Computers CEO Bordan Tkachuk, and Birmingham City Football Club managing director Karren Brady (I believe she’s still in that position despite her arrest in April).

Paul asks Lee to do his reverse pterodactyl impression. Lee complies with this request. Paul is unimpressed and tells Lee he should have told him no. Either way he was screwed. This guy’s just being an asshat because he can be. Lee is basically told he’s too nice and that’s about all there is to him.

Claude doesn’t believe Lucinda is employable. She essentially agrees by saying she’s a contractor, which he takes to mean she’s just an outsider. She acknowledges her stay on this show has been a struggle on both sides. He finds it really hard to deal with her. This line of questioning leads her to ask what she’s doing here, as she questions whether she actually wants to be a permanent employee.

Paul wants to know why Claire increased profit by £8 million but only earned a bonus of £27k. He calls her a poor negotiator and would like to hire her because she’s cheap.

Paul tells Alex his CV is one of the most boring he’s ever read. Alex says thank you. He responds that he’s younger and that’s why there’s not much on his CV, but Paul brags that he was running his own business at 22. Karren, likewise, isn’t taken in by the age story, since she was 23 when she was running Birmingham City Football Club. Not having any more luck with Claude, Alex tells him that it doesn’t matter what he says because he’s just going to knock it down anyway.

Helene tells Karren the story of how she overcame a bad childhood to get where she is today.

Paul questions whether Lucinda’s really a serious businesswoman who will actually stick around for more than three months. He suggests she should question why she’s here. While she’s interviewing, the other candidates are discussing this very thing. She tells him he’s asking questions but not actually listening to the answers, which is a valid point.

Claude wants to know whether Lee was ever taught spelling then proceeds to go over the highlighted grammatical and spelling mistakes on one of his questions. During his discussion with Bordan, he claims he was with a university for two years, but Bordan’s gotten confirmation that it was just four months.

Lucinda has come to the decision that she really wants this job and will fight for it, though the damage on that front is already done because not everybody is convinced of that.

Now that the interviews are over, the interviewers can discuss their findings with Sir Alan.

Bordan was impressed by the fact that Alex worked a commission only job. Paul thought the interview was terrible but that he does have potential. Karren questions whether Alex would be able to achieve anything without his charm and good looks, but she thinks he should just recognize those traits as assets. Claude is the least impressed of the bunch and believes Alex is bland and shallow.

Claude has great things to say about Lucinda… but thinks she would be a disaster for Sir Alan. Paul calls her a nutcase. Unlike prior seasons, Sir Alan has finally realized that the salary for this job is largely moot.

Despite the pterodactyl impression, Paul was impressed with Lee… until the end of the interview when he winked at him like a door-to-door salesman. Karen believes he’s a good salesman but that this is the last big chance he’ll get. Bordan brings up the lie about the university, which mostly disappoints him because it was unnecessary if he’s done as well as he’s done otherwise, although Paul says that a lot of people lie about their qualifications. Claude says that he’s a tryer.

Karren thought Claire was fantastic and a doer and tells Sir Alan she’ll give her a job if he doesn’t. Claude has doubts whether she can do anything but retail. Bordan says she doesn’t listen, but that’s not news to Sir Alan.

Claude was impressed that Helene overcame her background, but Sir Alan doesn’t want to hear the sob story any more. Karren echoes Claude’s comments. Paul didn’t see any real fire in her.

As he’s leaving the room, Paul gives Sir Alan the wink and the gun.

During the final boardroom with the candidates, Alex is the one to bring up that Lucinda said during the interview process that she wasn’t sure whether she wanted to be there. In explaining herself, she says she doesn’t need the job (even if everybody else does), just that she wants it.

Lucinda is a little bit too zany for Sir Alan and is fired.

Sir Alan gives Claire a hard time about the fact that she doesn’t listen, but he’s decided he will let her stay. Not only that, but he’s going to let everybody else stay and have a four person final.

They final four will be split into two teams. The team that loses will be fired. From the winning team, one person will be the winner. I like the final four twist. Not thrilled that the losing team will just outright be fired without consideration to any previous tasks or anything else, though.

Stay tuned to dingoRUE for another recap of The Apprentice UK Series 4 episode 12, where we will find out who the winner is.

David Archuleta Signs with 19 Recordings/Jive Records

David Archuleta has signed to 19 Recordings/Jive Records. Archuleta is currently gearing up for the upcoming American Idol tour which kicks off on July 1st in Glendale, AZ. The 17-year old is expected to release his debut album later this year.

“Signing a record contract with 19 Recordings/Jive Records is truly a dream come true,” states Archuleta. “Being a fan of American Idol since season one and admiring the alumni, I am honored and humbled to be a part of that group. I’m really excited to start working on everything.”

David Archuleta, the runner-up on the current season of “American Idol,” has three songs entering the Hot 100 this week, starting with his remake of John Lennon’s “Imagine” at No. 36, along with his rendition of “Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me,” and his finale song, “In This Moment.”

Simon Fuller, creator of the popular TV series and chief executive and founder of 19 Entertainment Label Group, states, “It was fascinating to watch David’s journey through Idol. He is a genuine pop star, and is a gifted singer who instantly won over a huge audience when he first appeared on the show. Since then, he has dealt with the pressure and the high level of expectation with real fortitude; he’s given us some of the best performances of the season. Without question David Archuleta has a great future ahead of him.”

Tom Carrabba, Executive Vice President and General Manager, Jive/Zomba Label Group comments, “David Archuleta has already shown the world that he is a star. He’s a young, talented singer with wide appeal and we’re thrilled to have him join our roster.”
