the Biggest Loser 3 Recap: Episode 11 – The Fantastic Four

the Biggest Loser 3: Episode 11

December 6th, 2006 – Tonight’s episode of the Biggest Loser 3 was a 2-hour special to lead up to next weeks finale, only it wasn’t a usual 2-hour special. The entire first hour of the show was actually dedicated to the high schools of North America, where obesity in young people is quickly becoming a major problem.

The blue team trainer Bob Harper, red team trainer Kim Lyons and the Biggest Loser 2 winner and Co-Founder of the Biggest Loser Club Matt Hoover, went to two High Schools and select 6 overweight teens from each school to join a mini-biggest loser competitions. The results were very surprising for only three weeks of work, and all of the kids stayed focused and dedicated enough to shed as much as 25lbs a piece.

I have to give it to the guys at CBS’ for this idea, it was a really good one and draws attention to the increase in obeisity rates at a young age, as well as the effects corporate and fast-food sponsorships have on high school caffeteria’s and the food they offer. But that’s for another rant, so let’s get on to what everyone wants, the episode 11 recap!

Heroes: Episode 11 “Fallout”

December 5th, 2006 – Well, I have some good news, and some bad news.

The good news: Last night’s episode 11 of NBC’s Heroes was fantastic! It was one of the best episodes yet and brought all of the Heroes together even more. It is without a doubt that Heroes is the best show on TV right now, which leads me to the bad news.

The bad news: We don’t get another episode of Heroes until January 1st! Because the “fall season” is ending for TV stations and November sweeps is over, the folks at NBC have decided to keep us hanging in suspense until January 1st before we’ll get our next glimpse of a new Heroes episode. How lame is that?! They air one of the best episodes to date and then cut us off for just shy of a month. That’s not right man, I need my fix! What am I supposed to watch on Monday night’s now? My life will have no meaning until January 1st.

Okay, Okay, a little over dramatic, but you get the point. If you’ve been a dedicated fan of Heroes the entire season, such as I have, you’re probably none to happy to learn you’ll have to wait another month for the next episode either. Without a doubt it will be worth it, but that’s so far away.

In the meantime, you can always pass time by watching the last 11 episodes of Heroes on NBC’s website. They’re nice enough to offer to full episodes online, only problem is, if you’re anywhere other than in the US, such as I am, they won’t let you watch them, for whatever stupid reason. So, if you’re in the US, enjoy the old episodes, if not, you’re out of luck, just like I am, until January 1st, so mark the day on your calender!

And just for you hardcore fans out there, you can see a preview video of episode 12 “Godsend” after the jump, enjoy!

the Amazing Race 10: Cho Brothers in the Kharma Business

As much as I love Erwin and Godwin, better know as the Cho Brother’s from the Amazing Race 10, their newest business venture doesn’t strike me as one that will succeed. The idea is good, their heart are in the right place (as usual), but it doesn’t sound or look like it can turn into a successful business.

The Amazing Race 10’s Erwin and Godwin Cho have ventured into the Kharma business with their newest idea, ALittleKharma.com. The idea behind the business is to offer and sell products made by independent artists, while using part of the money made to fund random acts of kindness. Though the products currently for sale on the site are, to put it mildly, rather lacking, they already have a few ideas for their first random acts of kindness:

  • Pay bridge/road tolls for 100 people behind you.
  • Hand out $10 rolls of quarters to people at a laundrymat.
  • Buy groceries for 10 people in your supermarket line.
  • Distribute free umbrellas to people on a rainy day.

Best of luck to the Cho Brothers on their business venture. As much as the idea is good and the people are good, I just don’t see it working out, but I’m glad they believe enough in kharma and good will to support independent artists, all the while trying to brighten some peoples days.

If, like me, you are addicted to the glorious awesomeness that is NBC’s Heroes, then you will know doubt appreciate this little 5-min preview video of tonight’s episode, entitled “Fallout.”

If you don’t want any spoilers, don’t watch the preview. It doesn’t give anything major away, but as usual, if you’re a purist you probably don’t want to know anything about the episode going into it. One thing is for sure though, this season is really starting to come together, and all of the Heroes are finally learning about the others and their abilities. Tonight’s “Fallout” episode is sure to please, so don’t miss it!

the Amazing Race 10 – Episode 12

December 3rd, 2006 – Welcome to Morocco! In episode 11 we left off with the teams camped out in a traditional nomadic Berber hut in the desert of Morocco, where Dustin and Kandice came in last place, but were saved from elimination. Though they may have been saved by the bell in episode 11, things in this episode are going to be a lot harder for the blonde’s, as they will have to finish the leg in first place or suffer a potentially race ending 30 minute penalty.

Fingers crossed. It may finally be time for the blonde’s to be sent home!

Survivor Cook Islands Eliminated Contestant Nate Talks

Those of us that are die-hard Survivor Cook Islands fans remember just a short while ago how, shortly before Brad was eliminated, Nate made an inadvertent comment, calling his openly gay tribe mate Brad a “Nancy Boy.”

To be quite honest, I was very surprised that this entire situation didn’t explode and get completely blown out of proportion. Since Brad is indeed gay, it would give him the right to get upset and offended over being called a “Nancy boy,” but at first he actually let it go. I believe he realized that it was something said in the heat of the moment, and was not meant as a derogatory slur, but just a general insult (which everyone knows is just fine :P). That was, of course, up until I read a Survivor Cook Islands post at TVGasm.com that said “…Brad’s done a few interviews saying he’s still upset.” Which I personally find hard to believe, unless he had a change of heart strictly in the hopes of extending his 15-mins of fame. Either way, Nate set everything clear in an interview with TVGuide:

FROM TV Guide via TVGasm.com: “At the end of the day, considering Brad’s actions toward not swimming and me calling him out, no, I don’t regret that,” Nate tells TV Guide. “The fact that I called him a nancy boy and it offended him — I want to take that back, because I’d never want to hurt him. He’s a dear friend, and I like the guy a lot. I think people made a big deal out of it because of his sexual preference. I’m not a homophobe. I was an ally of his when I knew he was gay. We were cool. If Adam had done the same thing, I’d have called Adam a nancy boy. If I offended homosexuals or Brad by saying that — if they think I was directing it toward his sexual preference — then I am going to apologize, because that is not my style. I would have called him something else, a ‘f–k-off’ or something else that didn’t [hint at] his sexual preference. I texted him [after my elimination] and said ‘I’m sorry,’ and he said it was cool. But I’ve heard comments that he wouldn’t want to hang out with me, and that is too bad because I thought we were close friends.”

Celebrity Gossip Blogger Perez Hilton Sued for 7.5 Million!

Well, it was bound to happen eventually. One of my personal favorite’s in the celebrity blogging qord, the self proclaimed queen of all media, Perez Hilton, has been slapped with a $7.5-million lawsuit.

Perez Hilton, like the vast majority of other blogs, gets all of his images from various different sites online, one of which is X17, who just happened to be a paparazzi agency. It used to be that the guys at X17 didn’t mind if people used their pictures on blogs, and then they started to watermark all their pictures, but still allowed them to be used; however, just recently, they have changed their minds yet again, and have now decided any publicity gained from the use of their watermarked images wasn’t enough, and now they’re charging for people to make use of their pictures. Alas, there is only one problem with that situation, they’re still posting all their picture on their OWN website, for everyone to see! If you post pictures on the internet, you have to be willing to accept that fact that at one point or another, someone else is likely to make use of them. I’m afraid that’s just how it works, and as much as X17 wants to change the world in that respect, they don’t stand a chance.

The thing that gets to me the most about this entire situation is the fact that X17 and a hand full of other paparazzi agencies have banded together to pick out and target Perez Hilton alone. Hundreds, if not thousands of other blogs and sites with significant visitors use images from these agencies as well, alas, these agencies don’t see to care about those sites. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that PerezHilton.com is one of, if not the single largest celebrity gossip blog online? Perez is the face of the gossip blogging world and has been featured on just about every TV show and in just about every magazine in North America. Whether you like him or not, he’s the highest profile celebrity blogger out there, and his site sees well over 3-million unique visitors a day because of it. This past Thursday he cracked the 4-million mark and had roughly 4.4-million unique visitors. That is a huge achievement for anyone, let alone a celebrity gossip blogger!

The only reason X17 and the likes are singling our Perez is because he IS the face of the celebrity blogging world, his site DOES get the highest traffic and the free publicity garnered by suing/threatening/annoying him is substantial! My hat goes off to X17 and the other pap agencies that are going after Perez, you’re making one hell of a PR push. Funny how the paparazzi agencies suddenly develop ethics and a set of morals when PR is involved. To bad it’s not fooling anyone.

Survivor Cook Islands – Episode 11

November 30th, 2006 – The human target, otherwise known as Jonathan, got himself into some pretty hot water in last weeks episode of Survivor Cook Islands. It was his swing vote that resulted in Nate being voted off the island and, at the same time, Raro losing the odds. Naturally, neither team feels they can trust Jonathan anymore, and quite frankly, neither team seems to like him what so ever and that fact sure shines through in tonight’s episode.
