Big Brother 12 Episode 24

Lane won HOH in Big Brother 12 Episode 23, forcing him to choose between nominating a Brigade member or Britney as a pawn against Ragan. He chose Brigade member Enzo.

Enzo’s suspicious that Lane and Britney are in an alliance.

Ragan is whining about how he’s all alone. Oh, this storyline again.

Following his week of fun, Enzo can now stop wearing his penguin outfit. He has broken the curse of the person in the ridiculous outfit getting evicted.

The veto competition is hosted by a stupid singing clam. There are CDs spread throughout the yard that must be gathered with the combined names of the houseguests in question in each round, with the slowest person to return the correct answer being eliminated. It’s bad enough we have to listen to names like Brenchel. Now we have to listen to all the houseguests’ names mashed together. In a close dash, Ragan is last, but Lane is incorrect and is eliminated. Hayden is eliminated in round 2. Britney is eliminated in the next round, dashing Lane’s hopes of the nominations staying the same. Both Ragan and Enzo know where the final CD is, leading to a no holds barred battle for it. Enzo grabs the disc and wins the power of veto. This is new.

Cue more whining from Ragan.

Punishment #2 for Lane’s Pandora’s box is the use of sock puppets while they speak for 12 hours. If they fail to comply, they will all become have nots. Ragan’s puppet is now his only friend. This gets more and more pitiful. Meanwhile, Enzo’s puppet is getting a censor over its mouth.

Kathy and Brendon did all the cleaning in the house, so now they’re left with a big mess. If it were me, I’d become a neat freak. It’s not like they have anything else to do. The show’s whole torture concept is to leave them with nothing to do but recycle the same stories they’ve told each other a few dozen times.

Punishment #3 is to boogie for the next 12 hours every time they hear music. Not music that anybody knows because that would require the producers to pay for the licensing fees, which we know they’re too cheap to do. Even Happy Birthday is a no-no.

Lane asks Hayden whether he’s okay with going up. He doesn’t trust them to keep Britney around.

Britney threatens Lane. If he puts her on the block, things might change between them.

At the veto ceremony, Enzo uses the veto on himself. In his place goes Hayden. So that’s where his loyalties really lie. He’d rather be sitting up against Britney in the final two.

America’s Got Talent Season 5 Episode 27

Anna & Patryk, Michael Grimm, Prince Poppycock, Taylor Mathews, and Christina & Ali advanced to the finals in America’s Got Talent Season 5 Episode 26. Tonight the remaining semifinalists perform.

Alice Tan Ridley is one of the frontrunners in the singing portion of the show, although there’s an awful lot of competition. She sings Whitney Houston’s I Have Nothing, and she pulls it off better than most. Piers felt that was an incredibly strong performance. Sharon got goosebumps.

Haspop is back with more cool dancing, although Piers is not impressed and buzzes. Sharon wasn’t so keen on that either. Howie, however, was wowed.

Maestro Alexander Bui is good at what he does (in part because he has no life), although he’ll need to choose some music that somebody actually knows/wants to hear. This is all quite boring. Impressive but boring. Howie buzzes, a rarity. Piers calls him one of the most brilliant performers. Sharon is now excited by him.

Michael Lipari & Ashleigh Dejon have a plan to try to touch our hearts this time, rather than pretending there’s been a fatality. That worked better for me. Piers appreciates the chemistry and the passion, although he normally doesn’t like acts like this. Howie says they could die doing this. That’s what this show is all about.

Michael Grasso was cut after his slight of hand act but came back stronger as a wild card. This time he suspends a cage above the stage, making the woman inside it disappear, then she reappears in his place while he goes up to the judges from behind them. Sharon can only say that it was sensational. Howie hopes people vote for him. Piers is watching him become a world class magic act.

Debra Romer will have to up her game to compete in this tough singing segment. Her singing is just quite nice. Howie is not sure if nice is enough. Sharon felt it was too limited and a really weak competition song.

Studio One Young Beast Society is the last dance crew standing, and they prove why. Sharon loves the youth and urgency, and she knows they’ll be back. Howie thinks they should change their very long name that doesn’t roll off the tongue.

Jeremy VanSchoonhoven used to know Terry Fator when they were doing small fairs. Terry told him to go for it. While he was practicing for tonight’s show, he fell and injured his arm, head, and hip, but he’s still back to perform in spite of that. He stumbles during the show as well, but the most difficult part of the act goes smoothly. Sharon’s got respect for him bouncing back, and she asks for America to vote for him.

Nathaniel Kenyon was sick last time but had the following built up to get him through it. Piers buzzes. Too many missed notes. Howie isn’t too excited, but he can hear the girls screaming behind him.

Murray hopes to go even bigger. Bigger than a tiger and a car? This trick is about his family’s history, which was all about working on the railroad. He’s brought his own train with him. And now it’s gone. Piers thought Michael Grasso did better. Sharon’s never seen anything that spectacular. Howie enjoyed the trick but not so much the presentation.

Jackie Evancho is the voice everybody’s talking about. As amazing as the first time. Howie has no words, other than angel from another planet.

The final act of the night is Fighting Gravity. They decided to take a leap of faith and not go to school for the semester so they can focus on the act. Granted, they are frat guys. Howie calls them the only act that could follow Jackie. Piers wants America to vote for them.

Big Brother 12 Episode 23

Big Brother 12 Episode 22 was a double eviction night. First, Matt was sent home, one week after saving himself with the diamond power of veto. Following him out the door was Brendon, who they’ve been repeatedly and boringly trying to get rid of week after week after week for two months.

Enzo makes his goal clear. If he wins, he’s putting up Britney and Ragan. That is if he wins. As we all know, Enzo’s come pretty close to last in every competition. On the other hand, Lane is not real clear who his pawn will be, whether it will be Britney or one of his Brigade members. Ultimately, it doesn’t matter since he is the tiebreaker. Just as long as two Brigade members don’t end up there against each other, which should only be an option if Britney wins the veto and saves Ragan. With that said, not nominating Britney as a pawn would be stupid.

The HOH competition is cards, only not really. It’s really a ball rolling game in which they must land balls on two cards that add up to blackjack, while avoiding the other 10 cards. Lane gets a perfect score on the first round. Ragan gets blackjack in three shots. Britney scores only 11 in her five shots. Enzo gets 21 in four shots, which eliminates Britney. Ragan scores 11 to start the second round. Enzo, who performed competently the first time around, is a disaster in round 2, not scoring anything. All Lane has to do is score something, which he does, eliminating Enzo as usual. Ragan says he’s intimidated because Lane is very athletic. Uh, it’s rolling a ball down a ramp, not an arm wrestling competition. Lane hits 21 in 5 shots in the final round. Ragan will have to do the same in 4 shots or less, but he only scores 11. Lane is the new HOH.

Hayden’s fine with whatever decision Lane makes, as long as it’s not him on the block.

Lane claims that all he does all day for work is take people out golfing and dines them. This is news to Hayden, who thought Lane worked on the oil fields drilling for oil. As smart things to say, this is not one of them. Anybody basing their vote on money isn’t going to go with somebody who says he’s already on easy street.

When he walks into his HOH room, Lane is greeted by Pandora’s box. He is shown a money tree, with over $10,000 hanging on it. Like everybody else, he opens the box. Once inside, he must select up to three cash envelopes. For each cash prize he takes, one punishment will be inflicted on each member of the house, including himself. The first envelope contains $79. The second envelope contains $12. The third envelope contains 17 cents, for a grand total of $91.17. Well, that was pointless.

So now they get three punishments. Punishment #1 is the removal of all silverware and cups from the house for the week.

Lane wants to clarify something with Britney. Would she take Ragan off the block? She says no. We’ve seen that her word is meaningless, although perhaps Lane can trust her more than Brendon could. During this conversation, he says he’s thinking about putting up Enzo. However, there’s no way he’s putting up Hayden. Knowing that, maybe she will use the veto on Ragan.

Nominations
Britney is safe.
Hayden is safe.

Ragan and Enzo have been nominated for eviction. If Britney wins veto and gets wind of the Brigade alliance, she can take Ragan off the block and send one of them packing.

Big Brother 12 Episode 22

Brendon won the power of veto to remove himself from the block in Big Brother 12 Episode 21, and in his place went Matt, the guy who believes he’s playing the whole house. Tonight is a special double eviction episode in which two people will be sent home.

Ragan says Matt’s betrayal has woken him up. So is he going to start playing for a change?

When Matt asks Britney why Ragan’s so upset with him, she plays dumb, but not very convincingly. Matt now realizes that the one vote he thought was a sure thing no longer is. So Matt goes to Ragan and tells him that people think he was campaiging for Matt to stay last week, or at least that’s how Ragan took it so that’s what I’m going with. Ragan goes out in the backyard to try to defend this. In the process, Hayden and Enzo say they decided to split the votes last week, leading Ragan to discover the Brigade alliance. Kudos to Ragan for figuring it out. Only took you two months, and just three weeks after Kristen told you about it.

Matt’s new hope is that he can tell his non-Enzo allies to keep him around so that he can control Ragan and get him to nominate Britney and Brendon.

Votes
Brendon: Matt
Hayden: Matt
Ragan: Matt
Lane: Matt

By a vote of 4-0, Matt has been evicted from the Big Brother house. I give him credit for playing hard (even if he never was the mastermind he viewed himself as), but he did himself in by playing too hard.

The HOH competition will have the houseguests digging through packing peanuts for two names. The question is: which two houseguests have held the title of HOH twice? Rachel and Matt. Well, I thought the competition would continue with multiple rounds after that (who really listens to Julie?), but apparently it’s one and done. Hayden wins HOH with a good strategy of finding both the names, delivering one, then running right back with the other.

At the top of the show, Hayden made it clear his target here is Ragan, so it’s a matter of promptly choosing a pawn, or so Brendon’s told. Brendon and Ragan have been nominated for eviction. He says he’s keeping his promise to Britney to not nominate her or Lane, and there’s no way he’s getting rid of his buddy Enzo. This is new. Brendon’s not the target for the first time this season? Yeah, that was getting old.

Since we are down to six, everybody will participate in the veto competition. This competition is before or after. Everybody gets the first question right. And the second question. On the third question, somebody finally is incorrect, that being Enzo. Brendon is eliminated next. Britney is the next to go. As the only one to get the next question right, Ragan wins the power of veto. There goes that plan.

Ragan uses the power of veto to save himself. Then he does an impression of Janelle, a player who I was sure everybody would have forgotten by now. Britney goes up in Ragan’s place, confident she has the votes to stay.

Votes
Enzo: Brendon
Ragan: Brendon
Lane: Brendon

By a vote of 3-0, Brendon has been evicted from the Big Brother house. They finally got him, without even trying. At least somebody else can finally be nominated now. That should mix things up a bit. With two weeks left in the season.

America’s Got Talent Season 5 Episode 26

The first 12 acts performed in America’s Got Talent Season 5 Episode 25. Tonight five acts will move on to the finals.

ArcAttack, Dan Sperry, Future Funk, and Kristina Young are first. We know Dan and Kristina are gone. Future Funk should be as well, but cute’s gotten them this far. In a twist, the axe falls swiftly and on all of them. Nobody is moving on.

AscenDance and Anna & Patryk are up next. I was with the judges on this. AscenDance is not quite what it was initially. Anna & Patryk, however, did manage to shine. They move to the next round.

Michael Grimm, Prince Poppycock, and Taylor Mathews all advance. I could see all of them advancing, although Taylor was iffy last night. That is indeed what happens. All three are moving on.

Antonio Restivo, Christina & Ali, and Connor Doran will be competing for the final spot. I don’t know that it really matters which of these gets chosen because none of them can win, but Antonio’s the only one I could see playing in Vegas. The act leaving the competition based on America’s votes is Antonio Restivo. Piers votes for Christina & Ali because they have good voices and incredible personalities. Howie votes for Connor because he’s different. Sharon is the tiebreaker, and she votes for Christina & Ali.

Big Brother 12 Episode 21

In a dose of tedious repetitiveness, Britney nominated Brendon in Big Brother 12 Episode 20. Since three people told her to put Matt on the block alongside him, she of course made Enzo the second target.

Brendon thinks Rachel would be really upset that Britney stabbed him in the back. Oh geez. Dude, can you play for yourself for a change? I’m bored by this storyline.

Britney tells Enzo he’s safe, which Enzo knows not to trust. Brendon’s proof of just what her word is worth.

In spite of the nominations, Hayden still wants to get rid of Matt this week. If she won’t listen to anybody else, maybe she will listen to Lane. Lane’s pitch is that they have to get rid of one of the pairs, whereas Brendon’s partner is already gone, making him less of a target.

It’s time to pick players for the veto competition.

Britney chooses Matt as houseguest’s choice.
Brendon chooses Lane at random.
Enzo chooses Hayden at random.

They head outside to the BB Zoo. They each start with 50 points and will be made 10 offers of either a prize or a punishment, trading points accordingly. Whoever finishes with the highest number of points will win the power of veto. Whoever wants this the most shall have it.

Who is willing to take a chum bath every hour for 24 hours for 5 points?
Brendon.

Who is willing to handcuff themselves to the houseguest of their choice for 24 hours for 7 points?
Brendon. He wants to be handcuffed to Britney. Awesome. She’s angry. Even better.

Who will give up 6 points for a phone call from home?
Lane.

Who is willing to be a have not for the next three weeks for 11 points?
Brendon.

Shave your head (guy) or dye your hair pink (girl) for the rest of the summer for 6 veto points?
Brendon.

Who is willing to wear a penguin outfit for one week for 10 points?
Enzo.

Who will give up 11 points for a Hawaiian vacation for two? Don’t bother. Every day’s a blackout date.
Hayden.

Who will give up 8 points for a have not pass for the summer?
No takers. This is a prize everybody would know for sure you got.

How many points will you give up for $5,000? It’s a trap.
Hayden: 25 points.

Who is willing to give all their clothes (besides the ones they’re wearing) to charity for 13 veto points?
Enzo. At least he’s got a penguin outfit to wear.

Enzo came to play, but it was not enough to overcome Brendon’s willingness to take a chum bath, be handcuffed to Britney, shave his head, and be a have not, which makes Brendon the power of veto winner. Hayden, meanwhile, was just in it for prizes. Britney’s mad at everybody. I don’t see her taking any punishments to fight for her cause.

Lane admits to winning the phone call. They assume Matt won the other prizes.

Lane goes upstairs to chat with Britney, hoping to convince her to get rid of Matt. Whatever happens, he’s willing to eliminate her to get what he wants. His loyalty is with the Brigade (Matt notwithstanding).

Pandora’s box is back. Matt got the diamond power of veto that kept him in the game, while Brendon got a day outside the house. Keeping in line with the declining value of this prize, Britney will get one hour of advice from a houseguest from a previous season. At this pace, the next time will be some dinosaur stickers. Britney opens the box. Inside she finds Jesse. As useful houseguests to speak to go… he’s not one of them. Not that it matters. He’s only there to pose some and give her advice about how she could look like him.

For their prize, the rest of the house gets a margarita party. Yeah, Jesse’s considered a punishment.

As if she hasn’t had enough fun for one day having been trapped with Jesse for an hour, Britney will now be chained to Brendon for 24 hours. To add to that, he has to take a chum bath every hour for the next 24 hours, meaning she’s going to have to smell that and not get any sleep.

Britney doesn’t want to put up her buddy Lane, and she doesn’t think it’s right to put up Ragan because he didn’t get a chance to play. That brings her down to Matt or Hayden. With that said, Matt has decided now to stab Ragan in the back and try to get him nominated. This will just serve as further ammo that he’s playing his own game against all sides.

At the veto ceremony, Brendon removes himself from the block. The replacement nominee is Matt. Even though he doesn’t realize it, he’s out of the Brigade, and Ragan’s upset that he was stabbed in the back. Who’s the big dummy now?

America’s Got Talent Season 5 Episode 25

Michael Grasso, Anna & Patryk, Connor Doran, and Michael Lipari & Ashleigh Dejon advanced in America’s Got Talent Season 5 Episode 24 following the wild card performances. Tonight the semifinals begin with performances by Future Funk, Antonio Restivo, Christina & Ali, AscenDance, Dan Sperry, Kristina Young, ArcAttack, Taylor Mathews, Prince Poppycock, Michael Grimm, Anna & Patryk, and Connor Doran.

Anna & Patryk were the last of the wild card acts to advance. They are dancing the paso doble and promise an angrier side to themselves, even if it means they have to think of Howie while dancing. Piers says they’re behaving like stars, and they are the most talented dancers in the competition. Howie apologizes if he’s been saying mean things, but tonight he wasn’t creeped out.

Sisters Christina & Ali are singing When You Believe by Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey from The Prince of Egypt. Bold choice, typically one that falls flat. Sharon declines to say anything negative, just telling them they’re getting better. Piers calls it very nice. Not great.

Antonio Restivo is hopefully bringing more than just fire. Tonight he gets chained and locked up. Then some chicks dance around for a while as they light stuff on fire. Afterward, he’s out of his trap and on the stairs. Piers believes this is the big magic showman of the season. This old trick had great style.

Future Funk are kid dancers being propelled more by their cuteness than anything else. Piers buzzes. This is not called America’s Got Cute Dancers.

Taylor Mathews will be playing piano rather than guitar, a shift out of his comfort zone. He sings Show Me What I’m Looking For by Carolina Liar. I don’t know how much appeal this song is going to have with the public. Howie wasn’t wowed, although Sharon was. Piers admires that he took a gamble, but doesn’t like how he’s being restricted by nerves.

Connor Doran is doing some more kite flying. I still don’t get how this is a top 24 act. Piers buzzes. The music just didn’t go as well as the previous performances.

Dan Sperry will hopefully freak Howie out again. Nick is the volunteer to help him with his act. Tonight’s trick is to show how he gives away his autograph. I’m assuming it involves blood in some respect. Piers buzzes just before Dan cuts off Nick’s arm and signs it. When he puts the arm back, there’s a signature on it. Piers was unimpressed by the worst fake arm ever and the overall lame trick. Sharon loved the robot lady, but not so much Dan.

Kristina Young better up her game if she wants to stick around past this episode. She sings Lady Gaga’s Poker Face, which shows off her voice a little better, at least until she gets to the chorus. Then she gets buzzed by all three judges. One thing people won’t be saying about this version is that it’s not original. They won’t be saying it’s any good either.

Everybody gets up to begin moving to another studio. That means it’s time for ArcAttack. How viable is this act if everybody has to go outside every time they perform? And what’s with this guy who always wears a hood? This time the geeks have managed to find a female to be on stage with them, although she’s undead. Howie feels the electricity, but it’s kind of boring on TV. Piers could see them being very successful.

Having gotten sick, Michael Grimm was unable to go to rehearsal. They have to give him some fluid through IV because he’s so dehydrated. In spite of that, he’s ready to perform, singing You Can Leave Your Hat On by Joe Cocker. Piers is happy to finally see an act with the desire and talent to win the competition. Sharon liked that he stepped up his performance and was engaged with the audience. Howie wants America on those phones.

AscenDance still has a cool act, but the wow factor is gone now that we know what to expect. Piers buzzes. Good thing nobody falls to split open any heads. Sharon didn’t like the music. Howie thinks it was a mistake to pick up the tempo. Piers was bored.

Prince Poppycock is hard to take seriously, no matter how good his voice is. Howie says this is his night. Sharon calls him the male Lady Gaga.

Stay tuned to dingoRUE for another live recap of America’s Got Talent Season 5 Episode 25, which airs Wednesday at 9/8c on NBC.

Big Brother 12 Episode 20

Matt’s diamond power of veto gave us the dullest eviction of the season in Big Brother 12 Episode 19, as Kathy was evicted from the house. After that, Britney won HOH. So basically we can expect to continue this predictable season with Brendon’s nomination.

Two hours before eviction, Hayden and Enzo told Matt they were getting rid of him. Unlike Lane and Matt, what these two have failed to do is establish side alliances that can carry them through the game and give them votes at the end, and now they’ve pretty well blown up their main alliance as well.

Following Britney’s HOH win, Brendon feels confident she will hold true to their deal. What has she done so far in this game that would lead him to believe that? His pitch to her is that if she goes back on the deal, he can’t trust her (again), and he’ll nominate her next week. Then he tells her Matt and Ragan threw her under the bus last week.

Britney wants a pawn to put up on the block against Brendon. Matt suggests Enzo.

The houseguest split into two teams for the have-have not competition.

Lawmen: Hayden, Brendon, Enzo
Outlaws: Matt, Ragan, Lane

They will order shots. One person will get what was ordered (the bad shot), and the other two will get something tasty. Then the other team will have to guess who took the bad shot. The outlaws order Sassy Kathy, made with jalapenos, cactus, and cayenne pepper. The law correctly guesses that Matt had the bad shot. The lawmen order the Meow Meow Mix, which contains orange juice, vinegar, and sardines. The outlaws correctly guess that Brendon had the bad shot. Britney’s Brew contains beets and caviar, which Lane gets, but the lawmen guess incorrectly that it is the blubbering Ragan. The Rodeo Rachel contains liver, gizzards, and cupcakes. The outlaws incorrectly guess that Enzo took the bad shot rather than Brendon, who actually calls this shot sweet with a little bit of kick. Delusional. The Saboteur Swill has soy milk and limburger cheese. Matt gets this bad shot, but the lawmen incorrectly guess that it was Ragan, who’s been crying for two or three weeks alerady and continues during the competition. Hairy Hayden is made with clam juice and buttermilk powder. Enzo gets stuck with this, and the outlaws guess correctly to take the lead 2-1. The final round is the Ragin Ragan, containing hot dogs, ketchup, and ranch dressing. Can somebody slap Ragan so he stops crying? The lawmen guess Matt incorrectly, making them the have nots for the week.

In addition to slop, the have nots will be able to eat broccoli and bean dip.

As Matt continues to push for Enzo’s nomination, Enzo is warning the Brigade that Matt is looking after himself. The Brigade tells Britney, who then has to start considering Matt, but he doesn’t want to go up as a pawn. So the question becomes whether she’s going to do what one guy wants or what the rest of the house wants.

Nominations
Hayden is safe.
Ragan is safe.
Lane is safe.
Matt is safe.

Brendon and Enzo have been nominated for eviction. Britney says he nominated Brendon for coming after her last week. Coming after her as in not nominating her even though he should have? If you’re going to lie, at least try to be convincing about it. Brendon doesn’t trust her any more, and he was dumb to do so in the first place. As for Enzo, he’s going to work to get rid of Matt.

Stay tuned to dingoRUE for another live recap of Big Brother 12 Episode 21, which airs Wednesday at 8/7c on CBS.
