Survivor: Caramoan Episode 9

Corinne unnecessarily blew her plan in Survivor: Caramoan Episode 8 by telling it to one too many people, and the idiots playing with her finally woke up and stopped doing everything she wanted them to do, blindsiding her instead.

Reynold’s ally may have just been voted out, but he looks at it as a victory. A Favorite went home, and he did not go home.

As for Malcolm, he views himself as the rebel leader, not Corinne.

Phillip has decided that the newest member of his organization is Sherri. Of course, there’s only like three people not in this alliance.

For the reward challenge, they will divide into two teams of five. One member of each team will be the defender while the others leap off a platform and attempt to throw a ball past the defender into the net. Reward is rappelling down a waterfall for a picnic lunch.

After the schoolyard pick, the purple shooters are Erik, Reynold, Eddie, and Cochran, and in this seemingly most mismatched challenge ever they will square off against Dawn, Phillip, Andrea, and Brenda on the orange team. At least the orange team has a decent defender, Malcolm, against Michael for purple. Sherri was not picked by either team.

Brenda scores. Erik ties it 1-1. Andrea makes it 2-1. Cochran ties it at 2. Phillip retakes the lead 3-2. Eddie makes it 3-3, and the next point wins. Erik scores to win for purple. That was a lot closer than I expected.

While they’re at their reward, Reynold, Eddie, and Michael take the opportunity to try to pitch a bro’s alliance to Cochran. Did they just meet him? He has no interest in this sausagefest.

While at camp, Malcolm wants to scoop up the people on the bottom, Dawn and Sherri. Seeing as Sherri already called Phillip her new Shamar, this seems like a lost cause to me. Then he tells Dawn, who thinks he’s going to be a problem.

After getting wind of this, the Favorites decide to vote out another of their own, but they tell him they’re doing a split vote between Eddie and Reynold.

Since the other women who got close to them are gone, Eddie and Reynold are looking for a new victim. Andrea thinks Eddie’s really hot. She tries to pull it off like she’s playing him, but that’s not what I’m seeing. He tells her he won’t vote against Reynold, but he’ll vote out Malcolm if she wants.

The immunity challenge will test their ability to hold their breaths while partially underwater as they slide under a grate and wait for the tide to rise. After 1 hour, they’re about an inch away from being covered. Phillip is the first one out. Sherri is next, followed by Erik. Dawn is fourth, surprised she beat anybody. Malcolm is next. Then Michael. The water is now above the grate. Eddie’s out, and he is closely followed by the two remaining guys, Cochran and Eddie. Andrea drops after recovering a couple times, and Brenda wins immunity.

Malcolm wants to take out who he views as the real leader, Andrea, rather than prince Phillip.

Dawn, who can’t understand why Malcolm would trust her since she’s the reason Corinne went home, lyingly agrees to go along with him if Reynold shows her his idol. He does just this and tells her if she burns him, he’s going tonight, which she interprets as meaning there will be hell to pay. Is she listening to a different conversation than I am?

Andrea refuses to tell Eddie who to vote for. Does he want to be saved or not? As she stands there being difficult with her supposed new ally, she finds out that she’s the other target at tonight’s vote. So she suggests the safe vote, Michael, a plan that nobody likes, especially an emotional Dawn, who insists Malcolm does not have an idol.

During Tribal Council, while Michael is speaking, Erik starts playing with Andrea’s hair. It was a bug. Or was it a signal?

Phil warns against anybody making brave moves because they’re going to get flushed out and sent home. This speech sends a message to Malcolm, who says he now knows everybody voted for him. Reynold goes to play his idol, and Malcolm (who just voted Reynold) asks if he can give it to him instead. Very smart move. He keeps his own idol while getting the one everybody knows about out of play.

With 6 votes, Michael has been voted off the island. And here I was expecting something else. If she hadn’t changed things up, Andrea would be gone. As the person who just gave her the idea to go with the safe vote, Eddie ended up voting against her anyway.

All Star Celebrity Apprentice Episode 6

Following one disastrous week after another, Omarosa was finally fired in All Star Celebrity Apprentice Episode 5.

Brande hopes to prove that her team didn’t really suck and that they could have won if not for the bad seed.

The Trump family parade continues, this time with Melania, who is promoting her skin care product. Teams will create a two page advertorial and product display. Dennis and Penn are the project managers.

When he meets with the execs, Dennis says he wants to go into Melania’s bathroom and see what she really uses. On the other team, Gary does his usual rambling, but at least he’s not in charge.

Lil Jon wants to buy everything gold from the prop shop. Dennis goes with him, but he’s pretty much just hanging out. The other team is focusing on caviar, the product brand.

When Eric Trump comes to visit, Penn makes all his people go back to work and stop talking to him so that he can get rid of him as quickly as possible.

Trace makes his presentation all about simplicity. He realizes that either they are going to love it or think he was lazy. Of course, that does not take into account one critical flaw. There were only two words in the slogan, and one of them (Melania’s name) is spelled wrong. The sad fact about this is that they have it written correctly elsewhere, and it is also on the product shots they are featuring, yet somehow they botched it in the slogan. Based on Melania’s reaction, I’d say this is game over right here because she ain’t happy. How dare someone spell her unusual name incorrectly?

Trace thinks Dennis was scattered as a project manager, and he’s not sure he actually delegated anybody to do anything. Brande says that he thinks outside the box, but he never thinks inside the box.

Penn says that Marilu and Lisa as a team are phenomenal. Gary thinks Penn is excellent. Stephen agrees.

The executives thought Penn did a fantastic job, and they loved the slogan “Let your skin taste luxury.” Melania, however, gave the same unhappy looks toward being called a spokesperson by Penn as she did when she spotted the other team’s spelling error. I’m not seeing the problem here. She may not “just” be the spokesperson, but nonetheless it is still an accurate descriptive term.

Melania appreciated that Dennis’ team understood that she spent years developing this formula, and she loved the display itself. But it doesn’t matter because of the spelling error, so they lose no matter what else happened, thereby making the entire first 45 minutes of the episode a complete pointless waste. Good thing this wasn’t a 2 hour episode. That really would have sucked.

Penn receives $40,000 for his charity, Opportunity Village.

Brande thinks Dennis should be fired as the project manager.

Dennis will be bringing Trace back with him because he was the one responsible for the ad layout. Trump asks him if he would just like to bring Trace back, an exception he has fired people over in the past, but apparently it’s okay if he suggests it.

Trace suggests Dennis should be fired because he doesn’t filter out what he’s saying, such as when he asked to look in Melania’s bathroom. Seeing as he’s been brought back to the boardroom about 10 times in a row across two seasons, Dennis Rodman has been fired.

Survivor: Caramoan Episode 8

In Survivor: Caramoan Episode 7, we found out there was somebody named Julia on the island. Then she was voted off it.

Phillip tells his challenge throwing story to Corinne and Dawn, who don’t buy it either.

They are told to gather up their things to head to a new home. I haven’t heard the word merge yet, but everyone assumes that’s what’s happening. They name themselves Enil Edam, which Malcolm doesn’t tell them is his mom’s name (Madeline) backwards.

Phillip and Corinne continue their battle against each other despite supposedly being on the same side. Phil goes to Andrea, while Corinne (who’s allied with Michael, who the others stupidly did not get rid of last time) goes to Malcolm (who has an alliance of sorts with Erik, Eddie, and Reynold).

The first individual immunity challenge is a gross eating challenge. They will race to get down local delicacies. The first group of six is live beetle larva. Andrea, Malcolm, and Eddie advance, while Sherri, Erik, and Corinne are eliminated. The next group eats the same thing. Cochran, Phillip, and Michael advance, while Reynold, Dawn, and Brenda are out. The remaining six will eat shipworms, the ocean’s equivalent of a termite. Malcolm, Eddie, and Cochran (beating Andrea by a second) move on to the next round, balut (duck embryos). Cochran and Malcolm move to the final round, pig brains. By about a second again, Cochran finishes first to win immunity.

Phillip proposes a split vote between Eddie and Reynold so that one of them goes home. He wants a big fish gone first. Corinne counters that they should just do an easy first vote and get rid of someone who nobody likes, Sherri. Phil completely disregards her. What would Boston Rob do? Cochran doesn’t understand why Corinne so vocally wants to keep Eddie and Reynold, but he’s willing to play along anyway. If he gets burned, he’ll deserve it because this would make two weeks in a row he just did as she said with no benefit to himself.

Corinne reveals her real plan to Dawn. She wants her to be the seventh member of their alliance and get rid of Phillip next, which I’m not sure I understand the need for since 6 out of 11 is already a majority. Afraid of repeating mistakes of the past, she Dawn shares this information with Cochran.

Their question now is whether they can get rid of Corinne instead. They should have 5 votes easily. Sherri and Erik are their hopes for a majority, a desperate player and a guy who doesn’t talk strategy and previously made one of the dumbest moves in Survivor history. This could go either way.

Despite the reserved optimism from the rest of the tribe, Sherri tells Probst she doesn’t think the fans have a shot.

All Star Celebrity Apprentice Episode 5

For the third time in four weeks, Omarosa was saved in All Star Celebrity Apprentice Episode 4 because everybody knows Trump isn’t going to get rid of her right away in spite of (or perhaps because of) how incompetent she is. Following her lame choices of who to bring back in the boardroom, Claudia was fired.

I hope everyone is enjoying the complete overkill of singing shows. Seeing as American Idol is getting record low ratings (down more than 50% from its January premiere), I was hoping NBC (the network that brought us Deal or No Deal every single night until it died) would learn a lesson about oversaturation of the genre, but instead of a two hour of The Apprentice, we get a The Voice rerun followed by a one hour Apprentice. I admit the Omarosa show is growing tiresome, but I’d rather watch this than yet another singing show (so instead, I watched the 40 minute delayed Amazing Race). Meanwhile, The Biggest Loser, the only bright spot on this fourth (or is it fifth by now?) place network over the first three months of the year, has been relegated to half a season a year.

With Omarosa’s team having lost 3 of 4 tasks, they will be getting some added firepower, Trace Adkins. Just in time for a fundraising task.

Their task for this week is to make money by creating works of 3D art, loosely speaking.

Lil Jon and Lisa Rinna are the project managers. Piers Morgan is back for another showdown with Omraosa, and he’ll be joined in the boardroom by Eric Trump.

Lisa suspects that Stephen will be useless in their efforts to make money, but Gary is afraid he will be, too. On the other team, Omarosa thinks she will get something, but she will be toward the back of the pack like when she was keeping fake numbers during the first task. This time, Brande is the accountant.

Lil Jon is already telling Trace that he doesn’t have anything to worry about if they lose.

Penn has secured $50,000 from Teller and $15,000 (in 150 pounds of Jello) from Blue Man Group. Not to be outdone, project manager Lisa scores $80,000 from Chaz Dean, who buys 4 pieces, including one of Stephen’s that he claims he was expecting someone else to buy.

When she finds out that she is tied with Dennis, Omarosa gives $2,000 to one of her donors so that she can come out ahead of him in their battle for last.

Lisa says that Penn was her star. When asked how much Stephen brought in, her response of $5,000 receives laughs from the other team. He blames this on other team members selling his art. If they lose, she would be bringing back Gary as well, who did not raise anything, though he argues like Stephen that Marilu sold his piece for $25,000.

Trump pushes Trace into more or less saying he likes his old team better.

Lil Jon would be returning with Dennis and Omarosa for the same logic as Lisa used: they raised the least. In his favor, Dennis actually created something of value, including a signed Derek Jeter baseball bat as the centerpiece for his art.

Lil Jon’s team sold a total of $179,500. Lisa’s team sold a total of $225,000, as Penn and Lisa just about won this task single handedly. Lisa will receive over $400,000 for her charity, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Omarosa quickly responds that Lil Jon should be fired as the project manager because he didn’t raise enough money to win.

Piers argues that Dennis was let down by the others when it came to fundraising because he contributed a brilliant piece that was worth a lot more than the $5,000 that they sold it for.

Brande would prefer to move forward with Dennis and get rid of Omarosa.

As planned, Lil Jon will be returning to the boardroom with Omarosa and Dennis. Finally, there’s a project manager not afraid to bring Omarosa back into the boardroom. The only question is whether Trump’s ready to let her go. Not only does she go back with a project manager who just can’t be justifiably fired after raising $82,500, but she’s going back with Dennis Rodman, who is not afraid of a fight either.

Lil Jon respects that Dennis has turned himself around, and he would rather move forward with him than Omarosa. Dennis argues that this is about business, not who Trump has known for 10 years.

Trump loves Dennis’ story of redemption and his spirited battle with Omarosa. With that said, Omarosa has finally been fired.

The Amazing Race 22 Episode 7

As the last team to wake up to the fact that they were not going to be able to make a fire using sticks, Max & Katie placed last in The Amazing Race 22 Episode 6, but they were saved by non-elimination.

Teams depart in the order in which they arrived.

First: Bates & Anthony – 5:39AM
Second: Pam & Winnie – 6:11AM
Third: Chuck & Wynona – 6:17AM
Fourth: Joey & Meghan – 6:23AM
Fifth: Caroline & Jennifer – 6:28AM
Sixth: Mona & Beth – 6:37AM
Seventh: Max & Katie – 6:49AM

Caroline & Jennifer have no idea what the speed limit is. It shows. They are pulled over doing 96kph in a 60. Being cute and blonde is no benefit here, and they get a ticket anyway. Their fine? 820 pula, roughly $100 US. Not the type of money you’d expect to shell out in Africa, but they will have to go pay it right now in the middle of what’s looking like a very quick leg with no airplane travel.

When they arrive at the police station, the cops will not accept dollars. Caroline is not allowed to leave the police station, so Jennifer gives her money to a guy to go exchange it for her because by race rules she cannot leave either because she has to stay with her partner. Luckily, that random strange guy does not just disappear, and he returns with their money.

They are not alone in getting hit by this speed trap. Max is pulled over doing 76. Seeing as they are already in last place and have a speed bump, things are not looking good for Max & Katie. Their only hope is that Joey & Meghan are clueless when it comes to navigation. On his way out of the parking lot after paying the fine, Max backs into a pole. Under normal circumstances, he would probably care, but so long as it’s operational, it doesn’t matter because it’s not like it’s his car. The good news for Joey & Meghan is they now have someone to follow, which will allow them to correctly find the task location that they have been driving around searching for this whole time.

Bates & Anthony, already with a half hour lead, opt to do the fast forward. Their task is to waterski 1 mile in potentially crocodile infested waters. A little scary but simple enough.

Before they can do the road block, Max & Katie must bead a skirt and do a ceremonial dance. This should give Joey & Meghan about a 10 minute lead over them.

The road block requires teams to deliver two goats upstream in a canoe.

Road block (in order of arrival): Winnie, Wynona, Beth, Caroline, Joey, Max

This proves to be a bigger test of patience than it looks. Both partners are on the canoes, which is leading to much tension between the person doing the task and the person sitting there in the cases of both Chuck & Wynona and Mona & Beth.

The detour is a choice between brains or brawn. In brains, teams will go on a horseback safari and search for 10 animal cut outs. In brawn, teams will stack firewood and haul it with donkeys.

Brawn: Caroline & Jennifer, Mona & Beth, Meghan & Joey, Max & Katie, Pam & Winnie (switched from brawn to brains to brawn)
Brains: Chuck & Wynona

The horses will do as they should, but there is every likelihood that the donkeys will be stubborn. The main advantage with the donkeys is that they won’t have to redo it if they get it wrong, which Pam & Winnie have to do, opening up new potential in the battle for last. When they are incorrect a second time, it’s pretty much over for them.

The pit stop for this leg of the race is Royal Tree Lodge.

First: Bates & Anthony (win $7500 each)
Second: Mona & Beth
Third: Caroline & Jennifer
Fourth: Chuck & Wynona
Fifth: Joey & Meghan
Sixth: Max & Katie
Eliminated: Pam & Winnie

Following their detour woes, the otherwise strong Pam & Winnie have been eliminated.

Survivor: Caramoan Episode 7

Following a tribe shuffle in Survivor: Caramoan Episode 6, Matt was eliminated.

Michael’s all alone without Matt, so now he wants to work with the Favorites at the merge. Corinne is the most willing to jump at the chance of partnering with him. Phillip wants to get rid of her next, but Cochran steps in to prevent him from doing anything rash. So who’s going to prevent her from going after him?

Phil is convinced that he can win anything involving strength, easily outmatching the young bucks from the other side. To prove his strength, he challenges Cochran to an arm wrestling match.

For the reward challenge, they will be clipped to a rope and carry a 20 pound sand bag. They will run around a course in knee high water, and the first tribe to catch the other tribe wins a feast of sweets and coffee. Brenda sits out for Gota. Bikal puts Phillip in the front at his insistence, while Gota puts who Jeff calls their fittest guy (Erik is fitter than Malcolm, Reynold, and Eddie?) in that position. Phillip tires very quickly, and his own team starts to pass him, let alone the other team. Dawn is the first to drop and hand her 20 pounds to Corinne. Cochran and Julia drop next. Andrea’s the first to fall for Gota. Despite his sucking, Phil refuses to bail, and his fall is the last straw.

When they get back, Phillip starts talking about going to Tribal Council tonight. Oh, wait, this was a reward challenge?

Cochran would say that Julia has a vanilla personality, but he doesn’t want to offend the flavor vanilla.

Malcolm is concerned that the four young guys will be the first targets when the merge comes, so he approaches Reynold to try to form an alliance. Reynold tells him he has an idol. So does Malcolm, but he’s not going to share that information.

Phillip is about the only person willing to keep Julia around, or at least he was until she told Dawn she’s working with him, a conversation Dawn repeats to him.

At the immunity challenge, three members of each tribe will paddle into the ocean to dive and retrieve a statue. Then three other tribe members will use a grappling hook to retrieve keys to raise their statue. Sherri sits out for Gota. Gota gets off to an early lead, but they row off course and let the other tribe pass them. The diving should easily restore their lead, and it does. Phillip’s keeping the ring tossing interesting, but Reynold manages to retain the lead. Gota wins immunity. This is even more predictable than when the pathetic Fans tribe was still intact.

When they return to camp, Phillip tells Cochran that he threw the challenge, which they were going to lose based on the performance of the first set of three people no matter what.

The other three tribe members want to split the votes, but Corinne doesn’t want to vote against Michael going into the merge. They are not going to put her interests above their own rational logic that they have the numbers and can afford to split the votes just in case there is an idol. Because of this, Phillip wants to flip the plan and vote out Michael instead. Keeping Julia doesn’t seem like it would help or harm anybody, but getting rid of Michael would throw a wrench into Corinne’s plans.

All Star Celebrity Apprentice Episode 4

La Toya Jackson fell on the sword in All Star Celebrity Apprentice Episode 3, allowing the Omarosa train wreck to continue, with nobody being more surprised than Omarosa.

We start again with Gary complaining about being labeled the weakest link.

Omarosa was shocked that La Toya did not pick her, but that aside, she learned that she can’t trust Claudia.

Their task is an interactive marketing campaign using a glass truck to promote Farouk Systems’ two biggest brands, Chi and Biosilk. They will be judged on three criteria: creativity, brand messaging, and overall experience.

Arsenio Hall and Don, Jr. are the advisors for this week.

Both teams are completely confused about who Farouk is and what a glass truck is. Omarosa names Claudia as her team’s project manager, and Marilu steps forward into a project that she hopes to figure out what it is eventually.

Trump will give $20,000 to the winning project manager, and Farouk will add $30,000 to that, plus $1 per like on Facebook up to an additional $50,000.

Lil Jon won a Farouk task in his season. Because of that, he wants to stress America in their campaign.

Dennis suggests they give makeovers to homeless women and drag queens. I’m pretty sure this idea will not be chosen, not even a little.

Marilu was a judge for Miss USA, and she wants to invite some of the contestants come down to the event. While she’s on the phone, Stephen wants her to have two conversations at once rather than focusing on the person on the other line.

Claudia’s team is going to rap as a brainstorming activity. Except for Dennis. During this process, they come up with their slogan. Brande says Chi wants you, and Lil Jon decides to wear an Uncle Sam costume.

Marilu’s concept is to put two hairstylists inside the truck so they can do quick makeovers. Stephen tries to create the slogan, live life luscious, but Trace doesn’t like it. His proposal, which the team likes, is experience silk.

Like Marilu, Claudia is hoping to score someone from Miss USA. As a former Miss Rhode Island, she wants to get the recent Miss Rhode Island winner. Unlike the other team, they plan to use the truck as a place to take photos. Omarosa is unimpressed, but she will be saving her input for the boardroom.

Omarosa and Dennis have been sent shopping for props. Mostly, they use it as a time to have fun. They return after 4 hours carrying everything they have bought in their hands, a total of 1 item per hour. Most of the things on their list are missing. Meanwhile, Marilu sends Trace and Lisa to babysit Gary while he goes shopping.

For all his interrupting earlier while Marilu was on the phone, Stephen actually was making an important point. She needs to speak to his publicist, Matt Rich, who also has ties to Miss USA. When they connect, she asks to make sure that she gets the Miss USA people, not the other team. By the time Claudia is able to speak to someone, it’s too late.

Their fall back plan is celebrity look alikes with terrible hair. They want to get Donald Trump, but the only Trump impersonator in New York died yesterday, so they will be settling for Joan Rivers instead.

Marilu’s team is using their celebrity well. Gary is a walking sitcom, Trace climbs on top of the truck with his guitar, and Penn juggles fire.

Claudia’s team has created scannable posters that link to the product’s Facebook page, a smart way to tap into Farouk’s proposed Facebook tie in.

When the event begins, Omarosa immediately begins looking for reasons why her project manager should be fired. As usual.

Claudia tells Don, Jr. that Brande is her most valuable player, while Dennis and Omarosa have been largely useless… actually worse than useless. In 4 hours of shopping, they were unable to get half the items on the list, whereas Claudia, Brande, and Lil Jon finished the shopping that Dennis and Omarosa should have done just before the event began, and it only took them 40 minutes.

Claudia’s team is very supportive of her performance as project manager.

Claudia reiterates that Brande is the strongest player. She reluctantly says that Dennis was her weakest player, declining to mention Omarosa’s name in the boardroom. Her defense is that she’s been thinking about it a lot since she last saw Don, Jr. Yeah, a lot must have changed since this afternoon.

Marilu again names Gary as her weakest player. He supports her leadership, though Stephen thinks she sometimes gets distracted. She declines to mention who she’s bringing back to the boardroom, not without Trump giving her a reason why they may have lost, a fair statement.

Farouk loved the entertainment value in Marilu’s team and that there was a line waiting to get their hair done, the glass truck featured the product, and they had a lot of beauty pageant contestants, including Miss USA. The slogan was a little generic, which would fall on Trace.

Now Trump’s going to force her to give an answer. She would choose Gary and Trace.

For Claudia’s team, the executives loved Lil Jon, the slogan, and the American theme and branding. They didn’t like the use of the glass truck (their makeovers were done outside the truck).

As the executives were discussing it, the results became obvious. They said Marilu’s team won on creativity, while Claudia’s team won on branding, leaving it down to the guest experience and who brought more people and more excitement. Clearly, that would be the team that created a big spectacle, which would be Marilu’s team. She will receive at least $50,000 for her charity, Alzheimer’s Association.

Arsenio points out another reason for the loss, which we have seen once before this season. Farouk wants his product to be the star, which may be a problem when celebrities are featured so prominently in the marketing materials.

Omarosa did point out that she wanted to move everything into the truck. Of course, she waited until 5 minutes before they started before doing that.

Claudia is asked to bring two people back with her. Dennis offers up his own name, and Lil Jon will the second pick. Really? This show is getting stupid. No wonder they’re shrinking it to an hour next week. Let’s stop protecting Omarosa already. Trump tells her bringing Lil Jon back is stupid and ridiculous.

No matter how ridiculous her picks, Claudia’s strategy here is clear. She can deny it all she wants, but she’s afraid of Omarosa. She would rather join together with Lil Jon and tag team against Dennis as opposed to fighting two people on her own.

In defending her choice to Trump, she says that Lil Jon is the marketing genius, so he needs to be blamed since they lost. Of course, they won on brand messaging, so this is immediately dismissed.

There’s no chance of Lil Jon going home. The only choice is between the other two. If not for her boardroom choices, I’d say Claudia is safe, but she deserves to be fired now. Trump acknowledges, though, that it doesn’t matter whether Omarosa came back or not because he was not going to fire her anyway. Claudia has been fired.

The Amazing Race 22 Episode 6

Chuck & Wynona stayed in the race in spite of themselves in The Amazing Race 22 Episode 5, as Dave & Connor had to bow out of the race due to Dave’s injury.

Between a song about the glory of communism and footage of a plane downed during the war, it seems CBS managed to offend some easily offended people, so we begin the night with an apology. If you don’t want what can be a harsh reality of a tour around the world, watch something else, as there will not always be sunshine and smiles.

Teams depart in the order in which they arrived.

First: Pam & Winnie – 10:40PM
Second: Max & Katie – 11:34PM
Third: Mona & Beth – 11:37PM
Fourth: Bates & Anthony – 11:39PM
Fifth: Caroline & Jennifer – 11:46PM
Sixth: Joey & Meghan – 12:47AM
Seventh: Chuck & Wynona – 3:26AM

Teams will now fly more than 6000 miles to Maun, Botswana. As remote a destination as this is, all teams will obviously be on the same flight.

Upon arrival, teams sign up for one of three charter flights.

9:00AM – Caroline & Jennifer, Bates & Anthony
9:15AM – Max & Katie, Joey & Meghan
9:30AM – Mona & Beth, Chuck & Wynona, Pam & Winnie

The hockey players get on the plane with their country girl crushes, who they have apparently decided now are no longer bitches. Max & Katie would rather be on the plane with somebody else other than Meghan & Joey, anybody else. Chuck is happy to be flying over the safari where the animated film The Lion King was made.

The road block gives teams the opportunity to dig a poisonous scorpion out of the ground, with the guidance of the local bushmen, hopefully without being eaten by a lion.

Road block (in order of arrival): Bates, Caroline, Joey, Max, Beth, Wynona, Pam

Max is the only one smart enough to have a glove with him, but ultimately it doesn’t matter because the locals do the hard part of calming the scorpions by putting them in their mouths.

The detour is a choice between fire or fowl. In fire, teams must make fire using two sticks, zebra manure, and grass. In fowl, teams must build, set, and trigger a guinea fowl trap.

Fire: Bates & Anthony
Fowl: Pam & Winnie, Chuck & Wynona, Caroline & Jennifer (switched from fire), Joey & Meghan (switched from fire), Mona & Beth (switched from fire), Max & Katie (switched from fire)

The fowl task seems simpler, though almost nobody does it. At least you can make measurable progress on this task, whereas the fire task has the potential to be a frustrating exercise in futility. This is the opportunity Chuck & Wynona needed to pull themselves out of last place for a change. Bates & Anthony are able to make fire, but everybody else ends up switching. Seeing everybody else leave, Katie refuses to do the same, but she finally agrees to switch… too late.

The pit stop for this leg of the race is Meno a Kwena Safari Camp.

First: Bates & Anthony (win a trip to Thailand)
Second: Pam & Winnie
Third: Chuck & Wynona
Fourth: Joey & Meghan
Fifth: Caroline & Jennifer
Sixth: Mona & Beth
Non-eliminated: Max & Katie

As the last team to switch to the fowl detour, Max & Katie are the last team to arrive, but they are saved by a non-elimination leg.
