The Amazing Race 15 Episode 6

With their elimination in The Amazing Race 15 Episode 5, Lance & Keri became another unsurprising team to be sent home. Tonight’s episode will be starting on time. That’s new.

Teams depart in the order in which they arrived.

First: Meghan & Cheyne – 8:17AM
Second: Brian & Ericka – 9:59AM
Third: Herbert & Nathaniel – 10:42AM
Fourth: Gary & Matt – 10:45AM
Fifth: Sam & Dan – 11:34AM
Sixth: Maria & Tiffany – 11:47AM
Seventh: Mika & Canaan – 11:54AM

Meghan has never been this stressed out before. Ericka puts on fresh makeup and does her hair. It’ll all be messed up by the end of the day, but you’ve gotta try. Big Easy just keeps saying the word hot over and over. Gary & Matt are getting along fine, although this is the longest they’ve ever spent together. Matt made sure to bring some hair dye because he wouldn’t want to look normal for any length of time. Maria & Tiffany mostly just want to get the hell out of Dubai. Mika’s never done much of anything, so she depends on Canaan to push her along.

After choosing a briefcase, teams will travel by taxi to Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club. When they arrive, Cheyne’s prayers of getting in the water are answered, as the road block is to row an inflatable dingy to a yacht. Then, they must return to the dock with the watch they’re given and open their briefcase, using the time on the watch as the combination. Ericka doesn’t do water, but it doesn’t look like Brian does either. He eventually figures it out but does end up with a rowing injury and bleeding hands. Gary rows lying on his stomach with one oar, while Big Easy just paddles with his arms. Seeing this effective strategy, Dan just uses his arms, too. As everybody figures out the watch clue on the first try, Big Easy is stumped, putting his team in last.

Road block (in order of arrival): Cheyne, Brian, Gary, Big Easy, Dan, Tiffany, Canaan

From there, teams will head to the Abra Station, a water taxi port. The detour is a choice between gold or glass. In gold, teams must weigh out exactly $500,000 worth of gold. To do this, they must divide $500,000 by the constantly changing gold exchange rate shown on the monitor. In glass, they will assemble 12 hookahs. Both of these detours are unappealing. Glass requires a lot of attention to detail, while gold requires the ability to do math without a calculator or Excel. For anyone who can do longhand division, gold is the easiest, but for the other 99% of the population, suffering through the hookahs is probably easier. As luck would have it, Sam & Dan were smart enough to bring a calculator with them, but they’re completely clueless on the calculations, so Maria & Tiffany come by, borrow their calculator, and tell them how to do it. This effectively bails both teams out and puts them in a good position. Realizing quickly that long division is futile, Big Easy goes next door and asks to borrow a calculator.

Glass: Meghan & Cheyne, Brian & Ericka (switched from gold), Gary & Matt, Mika & Canaan
Gold: Sam & Dan, Maria & Tiffany, Herbert & Nathaniel (switched from glass)

The next stop is Atlantis, The Palm, Dubai resort and the leap of faith, a 6 story waterslide at a nearly 90 degree angle through a shark tank. All the teams are somewhat afraid, but they’ve got nothing on Mika, who was crying earlier in the race because she thought she might have to do something involving heights. At least she’s got her floaties with her. Canaan’s trying to be patient with her, but she seems willing to throw away the race over this. This leads to praying to God, saying she hates her life, nonstop crying, and repeated saying of the words “I can’t.” When the Globetrotters show up, she’s got a choice. Get over herself, or come in last. She has two minutes to decide. Once they’re in last, it may well be moot. In the end, Mika decides to quit. It’s very rare that somebody quits something in this race. I didn’t think I would see it on something this simple.

The pit stop for this leg of the race is Dolphin Bay Beach. Meghan & Cheyne’s lead from the fast forward is still holding up (surely whoever planned the race should have seen this unfair advantage coming), but there are four teams at the detour at the same time bringing up the rear.

First: Meghan & Cheyne (win personal watercrafts)
Second: Maria & Tiffany
Third: Sam & Dan
Fourth: Brian & Ericka
Fifth: Gary & Matt
Sixth: Herbert & Nathaniel
Eliminated: Mika & Canaan

Mika & Canaan have been eliminated from the race. This is another team that needed to be eliminated. Mika was so crippled by her fear on more than one occasion that it makes me question why she decided to come on the show in the first place.

Survivor: Samoa Episode 6

Foa Foa lost as usual in Survivor: Samoa Episode 5 and decided to vote Ashley off the island as the weakest link.

It has been raining since day 10. It’s now day 15.

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that the tarp would have protected them from the rain, but nonetheless, we do have a rocket scientist weighing in on the issue. John blames Russell S for their current wet conditions, and he’s not the only one. Taking it a step further, his tribe is worried that he’s trying to do too much, which they fear is both unnecessary and will run him down.

The way Russell H sees it, this bunch of babies needs to grow up and get over the fact that it’s raining because it probably won’t stop raining anyway.

When they wake up the next morning, they see a rainbow.

At the challenge, one person from each tribe will be strapped to a large sphere, and that person will guide two blindfolded tribemates through a course to a table maze. The person inside the sphere will then guide the rest of their blindfolded tribemates to navigate balls through a table maze. Reward is pizza. But there’s a twist. Win or lose, both tribes will be going to tribal council. Boo. If Foa Foa sucks, just let them get decimated. No evening the odds. The winning tribe will be allowed to sit in at the losing tribe’s tribal council.

Monica, Kelly, Shambo, and Dave sit out for Galu. Liz will be pushed by Russell H and Jaison; Laura will be pushed by Russell S and Erik. Galu’s off to an early lead. I’ve seen this before. Somehow, though, Foa Foa manages to take the lead and they are the first ones to the puzzle. An exhausted Russell S, who insisted on participating in this challenge even though he knew he was getting weaker, is holding them up. When he gets to the table, his head lies down on it. Then he collapses. Medical is coming in to check on him. He says he’s good. Then he collapses again. His blood pressure is really low. Even lower than Mike’s was.

Jeff is making a call right there. Neither tribe wins reward. Since both tribes were going to go anyway, they will both still go to tribal. If Russell is able to return to the game, he will be there waiting for them. His blood pressure is fine, but when his heart rate drops 30 beats in an instant, they decide to remove him from the game.

Liz and Natalie assume it’s going to be one of them. It certainly won’t be one of the guys. Russell H wants Liz to go. He hopes to talk Mick into voting with him. Jaison takes this time to pout.

On the other side, Shambo’s proved to be the outcast, one that likes the other tribe better anyway. Her defense is that she’s a worker and a competitor. Monica wants to know why she should vote for someone to stay who wrote her name down already. However, the guys, especially John, consider Monica to be a weak person in the challenges. They fail to realize that Shambo will flip to the other side immediately if given the opportunity.

All 13 people go to tribal council together, where they mostly focus on Russell’s departure and the miserable weather (as the rain picks up again). After all the talk, Jeff has news. There will be no vote from either tribe. This meeting will merely serve as a war of words in which Foa Foa believes they won and Galu knows they’re still in the lead 8-5.

So You Think You Can Dance Season 6 Episode 9

Vegas week concluded with So You Think You Can Dance Season 6 Episode 8, and tonight we find out who the top 20 dancers are.

Nathan Trasoras, who got through last season when he was still 17, is the first person to get into the top 20.

David Hovhannisyan was shown briefly in the LA auditions as part of a going to Vegas montage. He has been eliminated.

Kathryn McCormack is a new face, and she will be joining the top 20.

Channing Cooke needs to work on her chemistry with a partner, but she has been voted into the top 20. Ellenore Scott and Ariana DeBose join her.

Billy Bell made Adam cry during his final solo. Juilliard is willing to let him out and hold his scholarship so he can be on the show, and the judges are willing to oblige.

Amber Jackson was warned about her performance in her first audition, despite her strong technique. She’s going to have to work on her ability to connect with the audience and try again.

Krumper Russell Ferguson has surprised the judges by being able to do more than they would have expected. He will advance. Hip hop dancer Kevin Hunt will also be advancing.

Bianca Revels is the first tap dancer to get the news. She’s been on this show a few times now, the last time saying she was not going to return after she got cut at this stage. This time, she will advance to the top 20. The next tapper, Phillip Attmore, who was Ryan Kasprzak’s roommate on tour, is also going to the next round. The final tap dancer, Peter Sabasino, has also joined the top 20.

Victor Smalley, who chopped off his hair because the judges said it was too distracting (and they were right that the new look is a lot better), has joined the top 20. Jakob Karr has as well.

Noelle Marsh and Mollee Gray were inseperable roommates in Vegas. They fear they will be separated. Mollee is up first and is told she dances too young, but she joins the top 20. Noelle has also made it.

Pauline Mata injured herself and was unable to finish Vegas week. Nonetheless, she has made the top 20.

B-Boy Jonathan “Legacy” Perez has made it to the top 20, despite the stupid nickname.

Paula van Oppen will also advance.

There are four people left in the holding room for two remaining spots. Two of those people are husband and wife.

The guys go into the room first. Ryan di Lello is up against fellow ballroom dancer Gene Bersten. Ryan advances.

The girls are next. Karen Hauer also auditioned with her husband, Matthew, who was cut previously. She, too, is a ballroom dancer and squaring off against Ashleigh di Lello. Karen Hauer is in the top 20.

Wait, there’s more. Ashleigh di Lello is also in the top 20. No, it’s not a lame extra person twist. I think they learned their lesson with Anoop Desai.

Paula turned them down. Seriously? Why even bother getting this far then? Her explanation is that she’s been offered a contract for a movie. I sure hope it’s a worthwhile movie and not some made for TV one that will play at 2AM. I wouldn’t bet on it.

To summarize, the top 10 girls are:
Ariana DeBose
Ashleigh di Lello
Bianca Revels
Channing Cooke
Ellenore Scott
Karen Hauer
Kathryn McCormack
Mollee Gray
Noelle Marsh
Pauline Mata

And the top 10 guys are:
Billy Bell
Jakob Karr
Jonathan “Legacy” Perez
Kevin Hunt
Nathan Trasoras
Peter Sabasino
Phillip Attmore
Russell Ferguson
Ryan di Lello
Victor Smalley

The Biggest Loser Season 8 Episode 6

The teams split into blue and black in The Biggest Loser Season 8 Episode 5, and after the blue team fell below the yellow line, the plan was to take revenge and vote out Tracey. However, realizing that Mo was the weakest link, they made the best decision for the team and voted him out instead.

The black team is not happy to see Tracey still in the game either. They were completely looking forward to seeing the blue team make the decision that would harm them on the scale.

Tracey has finally been granted clearance to get into the gym.

Allison is waiting for them at night. Each team has four keys buried in the sand, which they must dig up to open their box. They’re going to have to wait to find out what they’re playing for, but she tells them it will determine who stays on campus and who goes home. Tracey and Abby are sitting out, and Amanda sits out for the black team to avoid having to dig in sand. After 10 minutes, they haven’t found anything. Shortly thereafter, a few people start to strike something. So apparently this won’t be like the challenge in The Amazing Race that took like 8 hours. Allison tells them to remember what they’re playing for. If only they knew. At 20 minutes, everybody has found what they’re looking for, but nobody’s managed to uncover it. Danny is the first person to dig his key up, which will allow him to go help his teammate Daniel. Allen is the next person, putting the blue team on the board, so he will go to help Rudy, who is also close. They take the lead 2-1 for blue. Around the half hour mark, Daniel ties it 2-2. The two blue team members who have finished go to help Liz and take the lead 3-2. 40 minutes have elapsed, and blue team’s got their final key to win the challenge.

So what is the prize? Yeah, it’s obvious. By going home, they mean plane tickets home. They’re celebrating, but this is a punishment. No trainers and having the temptations of home puts them at a disadvantage. Allison gives them the option of not going home and to instead give the tickets away to the black team. Their decision is to send the black team home.

The emotional reunion is tempered by the fact that they now realize they’re on their own and must make some smart choices, which is something most of them have not done in a long time, if ever. Danny has the advantage of having done this at home on his own previously. Abby has an added disadvantage that she’s limited to where she can go, which means she must find a gym with a pool about 30 minutes away, but that’s okay because it is a priority. Danny’s wife goes to the gym with him. Dina has to drag her son off to the gym. Amanda’s struggling to figure out what the heck she’s doing. Shay feels as if she’s being stared at, which is probably true.

Everybody goes out to a restaurant. Their families obviously haven’t changed any (and each person from the looks of it has an enabler or two or a dozen), but there’s time to worry about that later. Danny resists the temptation, however. He will be cooking out back on the grill, and he’s seeing that his family is already learning and willing to change. Dina and Shay see that nothing’s changed. Their families are (over)eating the same things they were before.

Inspired by the challenge from last year, the blue team has asked Bob to bring them down to the food bank to volunteer. They will be filling backpacks to help feed kids.

Jillian hasn’t had anyone to beat up all week, so she’s looking forward to kicking the crap out of some people. From his visit home, Danny says that something’s changed, and he feels like the kryptonite has been removed. Jillian’s getting tired of Daniel’s low numbers relative to the others, and she wants to see if she can get him to live up to his potential. He has realized that his mom tried to get him to lose weight because she cared.

In theory, the weigh-in should be a win for the blue team. Their loss last week combined with staying on campus this week should make this easy.

Allen: 270 pounds (-8, 2.88%)
Rebecca: 232 pounds (-5, 2.11%)
Tracey: 202 pounds (-4, 1.94%)
Liz: 228 pounds (-4, 1.72%)
Rudy: 355 pounds (-14, 3.79%)
Blue Total: -35 pounds, 2.65%

Not the most impressive numbers from the blue team, but Rudy’s big number should provide enough of a cushion.

Amanda: 218 pounds (-6, 2.68%)
Shay: 411 pounds (-5, 1.20%)
Abby: 204 pounds (-4, 1.92%)
Dina: 218 pounds (-5, 2.24%)
Danny: 357 pounds (-15, 4.03%)
Daniel: 277 pounds (+1, 0.36%)
Black Total: -34 pounds, 1.98%

Danny did better than anybody despite the visit home, but it was not enough to overcome the other numbers. Aside from Daniel, most people on the black team are pleased, however, as they managed to lose a fair amount at home. The harsh reality is that Shay is weighing the team down, but I think we’ve all gotten the hint about how much more she deserves to be there than the others. The question is whether they can break away from that mentality when she’s still over 400 pounds. Having gained weight, Daniel is another potential target, but that would be a short-sighted decision because next week he should be able to knock it out of the park. Then again, it may just come down to the three women who weigh the least, and Abby should be safe because she’s proved to be strong.

Votes
Daniel: Dina
Dina: Daniel
Abby: Dina
Danny: Daniel
Amanda: Dina
Shay: Dina

With 4 votes, Dina is not The Biggest Loser. I’d have gone with Amanda before Dina, but her elimination is not entirely surprising. She is now down from her starting weight of 253 pounds to 188 pounds today. She’s finally managed to overcome that step she couldn’t jump on while she was on the ranch. She has also recently completed her first half marathon (hopefully without the assistance of a producer).

Stay tuned to dingoRUE for another live recap of The Biggest Loser 8 Episode 7, which airs Tuesday at 8/7c on NBC.

Losing It with Jillian

With the growing popularity (and profitability) of The Biggest Loser, NBC has decided to do a new show called Losing It with Jillian to go along with it. Jillian Michaels will host the show, and she will be joined by Curtis Stone, the chef who occasionally appears on Loser.

Jillian will be living with a different family each week and whip them into shape physically and mentally, hoping to prove that it’s not necessary to be on the ranch to lose weight, an excuse that I often hear from people about why they couldn’t do what the people on TBL do.

Although she will be on a new series, Jillian has no plans to leave The Biggest Loser (again).

The Amazing Race 15 Episode 5

Having lost their passports in The Amazing Race 15 Episode 4, Zev & Justin ended up being eliminated after they lost a passport at the road block.

First the Patriots 59-0 embarrassment of Tennessee in the snow (yeah, it’s snowing already here in New England) went over by 20 minutes, then we jumped into a tied Bills/Jets game with 4 minutes still left in it (and that game then went into overtime). A live blog will begin 60 Minutes after the NFL runs out of steam, which has turned out to be a full hour and 15 minutes after the originally scheduled start time.

Teams depart in the order in which they arrived.

First: Sam & Dan – 12:25PM
Second: Herbert & Nathaniel – 12:27PM
Third: Brian & Ericka – 12:30PM
Fourth: Gary & Matt – 12:35PM
Fifth: Meghan & Cheyne – 12:37PM
Sixth: Lance & Keri – 12:47PM
Seventh: Mika & Canaan – 12:49PM
Eighth: Maria & Tiffany – 12:55PM

Teams will fly to the world’s tallest building in the Persian Gulf, which they must figure out is the Burj Dubai, a still under construction building that’s nearly twice the height of the Empire State Building. Their next clue awaits them on the 124th floor.

Ericka immediately knows where the building is located. The others will do some research before heading to Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Sam & Dan go and ask to book tickets to the Persian Gulf… yeah, you might need to narrow that down a bit.

Everybody gets the same flight via Bangkok, including the stragglers Lance & Keri, who stay behind trying to book online at Lance’s insistence that they have to book there. When they land, they are given a first come, first served sign up in one of two groups. On the way, Canaan’s showing the first signs of ugly American as he calls his cab driver an idiot.

5:30AM – Maria & Tiffany, Brian & Ericka, Sam & Dan, Meghan & Cheyne
5:45AM – Mika & Canaan, Lance & Keri, Flight Time & Big Easy, Gary & Matt

Before they even get anywhere, Mika’s already crying as she’s still standing on the ground just anticipating what’s to come. So what is to come? They must make their way from there to the parking structure. Really? No jumping? No climbing? From there, they will head to the Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve.

The only fast forward in the race is located at the Dubai Autodrome, the only race track of its type in the Persian Gulf. One team member will have to complete a lap in 45 seconds or less. Meghan & Cheyne want to do it. Nobody else is even considering it, knowing that it’s a huge risk for more than one team to go. Anybody in the second group, being 15 minutes behind, really doesn’t have the option.

As simple as the task of finding cars in a parking lot sounds, Lance & Keri somehow get lost, which puts them in dead last, hoping somebody else screws up. Not helping their cause, Lance refuses to ask for directions, and he refuses to let Keri ask either. If he’s going to race like that, he should be eliminated and let somebody else who knows how to play the game do so.

The ride through the desert is done by professional drivers in 4X4’s, which means no having to get stuck in the sand and dig themselves out.

The road block is to find water that has been stored in urns and buried in the sand. Good luck with that. To make things more complicated in this 120 degree heat, most of the urns are empty.

Road block (in order of arrival): Brian, Tiffany, Dan, Matt, Big Easy, Canaan, Lance

Brian’s belief is that if he helps people, they will help him in return. With that said, he tells Tiffany and Dan where the water is. Tiffany in turn lets Dan use her ladle when his breaks. Matt & Gary have managed to catch up to the first group.

The fast forward turns out to be a simple task that Cheyne completes in the first try. Cheyne enjoys the ride, while Meghan cries on the sidelines. Meghan & Chenyne will skip directly to the pit stop for this leg of the race, the amphitheater at the Souk Madinat Jumeirah.

From the desert, teams will head to Ski Dubai, a huge indoor ski resort that should be a stark contrast to their current sweating. With Mika & Canaan unsure where to go, Brian decides to be the nice guy again, telling them where the road block is. Before Maria & Tiffany can be on their way, the loss of a professional driver seems to be showing its head already, as they back over something and break the radiator. Sam & Dan decide to wait and make sure they’re okay.

The detour is a choice between build a snowman or find a snowman. In build a snowman, teams must carry snow from the winter conditions indoors to the blistering heat outdoors, where they must build a snowman before it melts. In find a snowman, teams take a chairlift to the top and sled back down to the bottom, where they must dig through the snow to find a miniature snowman. As everybody starts choosing the same task, it’s becoming apparent that it’s down to a matter of dumb luck, although the good news for the other teams is that Lance & Keri are so far behind them (and getting further) that there should be no threat of anybody else coming in last.

Find a snowman: Brian & Ericka, Flight Time & Big Easy
Build a snowman: Tiffany & Maria (switched from find), Matt & Gary (switched from find), Sam & Dan (finally switched from find after Dan begged repeatedly), Mika & Canaan, Lance & Keri

First: Meghan & Cheyne (win a trip to Jamaica)
Second: Brian & Ericka
Third: Herbert & Nathaniel
Fourth: Gary & Matt
Fifth: Sam & Dan
Sixth: Maria & Tiffany
Seventh: Mika & Canaan
Eliminated: Lance & Keri

Lance & Keri have been eliminated from the race, which is as it should be. They drove around in circles rather than attempt to ask for help.

Survivor: Thailand Episode 13

Completing the decimation of Sook Jai as Shii Ann warned, the remaining members of Chuay Gahn voted out Jake in Survivor: Thailand Episode 12.

Chuay Gahn, which started off as a joke tribe, has made the final five and not been to tribal council since eliminating the friction (Ghandia) on day 12.

In their treemail, they get a mirror to see how much they can be shocked. The men take over the mirror, leaving the women barely able to see themselves, although they’re not overly interested in looking anyway.

Ted is worried that his alliance with Brian is fading. His only problem is he really doesn’t have a great deal of other options. He goes to Helen and starts drawing in the sand that he wants to eliminate Clay, which is something she wants to do as well. From there, they’ll see about sticking with Brian or not.

When they get to the reward challenge, Jeff drives up in a new truck, a Chevy TrailBlazer, yet another sponsored vehicle that has since been discontinued. In addition to the new SUV, the winner will get a day at the spa and a meal. The challenge is to collect English letters on an obstacle course. Jeff tells them they’re standing on the first letter. Then he tells them again. Then he tells them again. A couple of them take the hint before Probst takes off into the jungle to tell the stragglers. Helen’s at the flag first, though everybody (except Jan) is on her heels. Things are pretty even at the cargo net as Clay takes the lead. Clay has the lead still at the rope pull and gets lucky on his first try. At this stage, the challenge comes down to Clay and Brian, who would be in the lead if it didn’t take him so long to figure out that he had to turn around and get that first letter. Helen and Ted catch up to them and are also on the puzzle. Brian thinks he has it. He spells road trip. Not correctly. Hearing the word needed (thanks, Jeff), Ted flips his letters around to spell it right and win reward. Because he owes Helen from an immunity challenge, Ted will be bringing her with him. Perhaps not the most logical political choice.

On the way to the spa, they talk about what they had been writing in the sand. Get rid of Clay. When they arrive, they get plenty of food, and they also indulge in wine, although neither of them drink alcohol usually. Ted should probably stick to not drinking because he’s becoming loud and obnoxious.

When he gets back to camp, Brian is not a happy camper. Ted didn’t even acknowledge the fact that he only won because Brian yelled out the answer. Meanwhile, Jan and Clay begin talking about the whispering and writing in the dirt.

After the reward, they return with some food and wine, but this sharing will probably not earn enough points to make up for the talking that went on while they were gone.

As promised, Helen approaches Jan to see if she is onboard to get rid of Clay. Jan is not willing to commit to anything but will think about it. For her part, Helen says in her confessional that she hasn’t even figured out herself which side she’s really on.

The immunity challenge is to search for missing puzzle pieces to build steps to climb to the top of the staircase. They can grab one piece at a time and either build as they go or build after gathering everything. Clay and Jan are building as they go, and Clay has the lead with two steps first. Brian gathers all his pieces first and then will begin construction. With this, Brian manages to take the lead. Clay and Jan have also finished gathering but remain behind Brian, with Clay only trailing by about one step. Brian takes a leisurely walk up the stairs to win immunity.

Ted’s worried that he’s the next one to go, but Brian is unable to give him a straight answer. What comes from their discussion is the decision to target Jan, the least likely person to win any challenge.

The way Brian sees it, he’s got three cards he can use: disposable grandma Jan, his trustworthy soldier Helen, and his good friend uncle Clay. Ted’s name does not come up here, which should be enough to seal his fate. What he further realizes is that neither Clay nor Helen like each other, and he plans to use them against each other when he needs to do so.

Stay tuned to dingoRUE for another recap of Survivor: Thailand Episode 14, where we will find out who the Survivor: Thailand winner is.

Survivor: Thailand Episode 12

Chuay Gahn kept going down the line, voting out Penny in Survivor: Thailand Episode 10.

At tribal council, Jake said he thinks he would put his work up against anybody else at camp. Clay is offended. Helen says there’s a reason for that: Clay isn’t doing much.

Treemail tells them someone will be eating. Since they’re talking about missing family, we also know their loved ones are there. As the family members walk out, they all walk toward a table, which indicates that they are the ones who will be participating in the challenge. For the winner, they will get one full day. For the losers, nothing. At all. Not even a handshake. So why are the families at a table? The question posed is whether they are willing to eat bugs and insects to be with the contestants. The first course is ants, red and flying ants. Everybody manages to get them down to move on to the next round, in which they will eat water roaches, full of juicy goodness. Brian’s wife declines to even try. The next course is alive and moving grubs. Only two people will move on. Helen’s husband and Jake’s wife advance to the finals. Boiled tarantulas. Helen’s annoying begging convinces her husband to finish, and Jake’s wife also manages to finish. That brings them to a tiebreaker. First one to finish a boiled scorpion wins. Helen’s husband wins reward.

He’d like to find the nearest hotel and is wondering how many nights the losers have to spend out there. The others give them the honeymoon suite and try to listen, but Helen says they’re just talking. He’s surprised how well she’s adapted to this, seeing as how she considers a two star hotel to be roughing it. Eventually, the talk turns to gameplay. She trusts Brian (who doesn’t?), but she doesn’t trust Clay (who does?). Her husband suggests getting rid of the biggest threat (Brian), but she does not feel comfortable doing that, even if it costs her a million dollars.

The immunity challenge is to build a cube with all sides showing the same color. Before they get to that, Jeff would like to talk about the families. None of them wanted to leave. Funny thing is they didn’t. They get a chance to embrace, and not only that, they will be partners in the immunity challenge and tied at the wrist. It’s entirely unclear what’s actually going on until there’s a yell out of Ted and his brother as they win immunity.

Helen’s putting her plan into motion, so she goes to Brian. She doesn’t trust Clay and does not want him in this game.
