Survivor South Africa: Santa Carolina Episode 5

They wanted to vote out Darren in Survivor South Africa: Santa Carolina Episode 4 but had to settle for Lady Lea instead after he used the hidden immunity idol.

Okkert’s starting to become the provider for his tribe following Hein’s visit. This may well prove a threat to Gys.

Timbila finds it awkward to have gotten rid of someone else other than Darren. They all say they’re mad at him because of what he said at tribal council. As if they liked him before.

Gys and Okkert are looking to get rid of either Sade or Hanna to break up their alliance. As the only non-Afrikaans speaker, Sade’s starting to feel like an outcast. She also realizes she’s useless at challenges.

The challenge is for reward and immunity. One tribe member will be a swimmer and make their way out to the raft. Then the remaining tribe members will pull that person and raft back to shore. The puzzle pieces will be used to build a ladder to get to the top of the tower. Reward will be chickens. Louw and Okkert are the swimmers. Both of the tribes are struggling to untie the knot to give their swimmers enough slack. Timbila is struggling a lot more, though, which is further complicated by Louw not being as strong a swimmer as Okkert, who at one point was one of the top athletes in the world. Okkert is the first to reach the platform and the raft, and he’s the first to get the raft undone. Their rope comes untied from the raft, but the wasted time is not enough to cost them the lead. Louw finally unlatches the raft, so his tribe can start pulling it in now that the other tribe is already on the beach. Chibudu’s established a lead that once again doesn’t look like it can be overcome, leading by about five steps. Chibudu wins immunity and reward.

Darren assumes he’s a goner again. Louw says that perhaps it might be good to keep him around since he’s the most skilled at the game, but that doesn’t seem to be a truthful statement. Just in case, he has a backup plan: Kaseran.

Ashley warns Kas that Louw’s trying to rally support against him. They’d like to keep ProVerb around as a swing vote, but they find him of no other use.

Darren has a last dying request for the tribe: just hold back for one more time.

At tribal council, Izak says there’s a group of 4 or 5 people. So who else is the odd man out? Darren says he’ll see Kas soon. Pro doesn’t have an understanding what’s going on within the tribe.

Playing with their minds one last time, Darren pretends he’s going for a hidden idol, only to open an empty pocket.

The Biggest Loser Season 9 Episode 11

Lance was voted off in The Biggest Loser Season 9 Episode 10, apparently because the team considered him a threat.

So far, 4 people have lost over 100 pounds. Now the teams are being split up, and they are going to singles.

Allison guarantees that the next Biggest Loser is in the gym. She just can’t guarantee that it’ll be one of them. They’re back. All of the eliminated contestants have returned, and someone will get a second shot. Their weight loss is not the determining factor, although they will be weighing in. Nor will it be a competition. Instead, it will be a simple vote. Who are the remaining contestants willing to allow to come back? They can vote for anyone other than their former teammate.

John is comfortable that he’s got some friends remaining in the house. Vicky, who was eliminated week 1, assumes she’s dead in the water. Melissa assumes she also has no chance in hell, so her pitch will be that she’s not a threat. Cherita wants her daughter Victoria to be granted a third chance to come into the house, since she has been booted both prior times after losing a competition. Migdalia is the only one who has not returned since she is at home taking care of her kids.

Darrell: 309 pounds (-104, 25.18%)
Sherry: 156 pounds (-62, 28.44%)
Miggy: 191 pounds (-49, 20.42%)
Victoria: 285 pounds (-73, 20.39%)
Melissa: 182 pounds (-51, 21.89%)
Lance: 274 pounds (-91, 24.93%)
Cheryl: 176 pounds (-51, 22.47%)
John: 399 pounds (-85, 17.56%)
Patti: 197 pounds (-46, 18.93%)
Maria: 224 pounds (-57, 20.28%)
James: 413 pounds (-72, 14.85%)
Cherita: 230 pounds (-47, 16.97%)

Now that they have all weighed in and are stacked up on the scoreboard, it’s time to vote.

Votes
Ashley: John
O’Neal: Victoria
Daris: Darrell
Stephanie: James
Sam: John
Koli: John
Sunshine: Victoria
Andrea: Victoria
Michael: Victoria

With 4 votes, Victoria will be returning to the show. The contestants voting for her hope to give her the shot they feel she didn’t have before. She could prove to be a wild card since she has no alliances. She’s done a pretty good job on her own, and she’ll end up being a bigger threat than some of the others.

It’s not over yet, though. There’s another way back in the game. They will get one more chance to compete in a challenge to earn a spot on campus. They grab their sweatshirts and head outside. This is an up down challenge. The first player to 1000 steps earns a spot. Miggy takes the lead with Melissa right behind her. James is in pain the whole way. Melissa is the first to 100. She’s also the first to 250. Both of them are recalling week 4 when Miggy and her daughter were being bitches. Sherry is in third place about 10 behind Melissa. Around 300 steps, her shoe comes untied, so she kicks it off. Lance is in fourth but far enough out of it that he’s probably not a threat. Around the 3/4 mark, Melissa leads 780-774-763-755 with the remaining order unchanged. Around the 24 minute mark, Miggy runs out of breath. When she hits 900, Melissa has somehow manged to get a massive lead. Sherry’s dropped more than 100 behind, and Lance is also quite a ways behind. Melissa wins the challenge, beating her husband by 76 steps.

Melissa’s not a particularly big threat, but that said, none of the other contestants want her there either.

To protect them and give them some time to get settled, both Melissa and Victoria have immunity this week.

Ashley is starting to grow skeptical of her ally Stephanie. Koli, too, is suspicious. Perhaps Stephanie threw that weigh in when she lost 2 pounds. That was the week in which Ashley’s mom was sent home.

Bob wants O’Neal to conquer the stairs, which have been a thorn in his side for 15 or 20 years.

During the last chance workout, a crying Stephanie walks out of the gym. She says she’s afraid she will go home but not on her own terms. I’m not sure what that means. Jillian warns her that she’s alienating herself from the rest of the house.

Ashley decides to confront Stephanie. She can’t trust her. The accusation that she threw that weigh in is far fetched, and she denies it. After they talk, it seems that Andrea and Ashley are back on Stephanie’s side.

Victoria: 283 pounds (-2, 0.70%, immune)
Melissa: 178 pounds (-4, 2.20%, immune)

O’Neal: 291 pounds (-4, 1.36%) – and he conquers the stairs
Ashley: 271 pounds (-5, 1.81%) – over 100 pounds lost
Michael: 381 pounds (-8, 2.06%)
Koli: 281 pounds (-6, 2.09%)
Andrea: 227 pounds (-5, 2.16%)
Daris: 237 pounds (-7, 2.87%)
Sam: 262 pounds (-2, 0.76%)
Sunshine: 202 pounds (-6, 2.88%)
Stephanie: 198 pounds (-1, 0.50%)

Stephanie and Sam have fallen below the yellow line. Neither a particularly big threat, but both have good relationships within the house, so it seems. Sam promises to keep people working if he sticks around. Stephanie says her problem was stress.

So much for Stephanie’s friends having patched things up with her. With 5 votes, Stephanie is not The Biggest Loser. In time for her 30th birthday, she is now down from a size 20 to a size 12 and has lost 96 pounds.

Closing out the show, Wayne will be weighing in. He’s a fan of the show who has dropped the weight on his own. A little more than two years ago, he weighed 674 pounds. Today, he weighs in 256 pounds, a decrease of 418 pounds.

Survivor South Africa: Santa Carolina Episode 4

Survivor South Africa: Santa Carolina Episode 3 was the first episode of the season not to feature a crybaby quitter. Craig, whose tribe has not liked him since the beginning, ended up being the one to get the axe.

Lady Lea is worried that perhaps her tribe is not noticing that she’s bringing something to the table. She’s hoping that she can be a fisherperson, but it’s not working.

The reward challenge is beach golf with catapults and coconuts. Both tribes start off pretty terribly but improve quickly. Sort of. They both score at the same point on their first play through. Chibudu takes the lead 1-0 on the next go. Timbila then scores the next point to tie it 1-1. On the final point, Chibudu wins reward. Darren will be going to exile. Okkert will be joining Chibudu for the night. Their reward is Hein, the bushman who was the first person in the history of Survivor to start a fire without anything manmade. He’s got with him a tool and some fishing gear.

Gys feels threatened by Hein, who then decides to go off on his own to catch them some fish. He manages to catch 5 fish for them for breakfast. All of a sudden, their treatment of him becomes much more warm.

Darren’s looking forward to a day of chilling without the social stuff that’s going on at the other island. Now he, too, has a clue to the hidden immunity idol.

Both tribes will navigate their way across the water to a platform with a hole in it. At the bottom, there are puzzle pieces, which they must grab and bring back with them to the beach. Izak, Sandi, and Darren sit out for Timbila. Chibudu’s got a bit of a lead as they head to the platform. This lead grows pretty rapidly as Timbila aimlessly rows their boat around, unable to get it to the platform. This is quickly becoming a pointless challenge. Timbila finally makes it to the platform, but it’s all irrelevant. By the time Timbila makes their way back to the beach, Chibudu has already won immunity.

Despite the win, Okkert’s already planning ahead. He’d like to break up Gys, Hanna, and Sade by getting rid of one of the two girls.

Knowing his neck’s probably on the line, Darren goes to search for the idol. He finds something, which he assumes is immunity. He wants to target Louw, Ashley, and Izak. He suggests this to Lea, who is getting tired of him. This move would be in her best interest since it’s probably either going to be him or her, with the other one following next time.

The consensus of the tribe seems to be to vote for Darren. Unfortunately, in the South African version of the game, the idol gets played before the vote, so all they have to do is have a backup in mind, without the worrying about how best to split the votes. That said, Darren has decided to play his idol. Would have been far more interesting if he had played it afterward and took out one of the top guns with his lone vote.

Survivor: Heroes Vs. Villains Episode 7

Both tribes went to tribal council in Survivor: Heroes Vs. Villains Episode 6. After Boston Rob pieced together the correct strategy, bonehead Tyson went off on his own and got himself eliminated. Then James got voted out due to his injured leg.

Russell wants to work on Jerri next. Well, good luck getting Jerri and Parvati to not hate each other.

Colby realizes it’s put up or shut up time for him. Wouldn’t hurt for someone else on the Heroes tribe to step up either.

The reward challenge involves a race through the water to get a ball and score a basket. The winning tribe will go to an outdoor waterfall with lunch. Courtney, Sandra, and Parvati sit out for the Villains. Colby misses twice. Then Coach misses twice. Then Colby finally makes a basket to lead 1-0. On the next point, an aggressive Heroes tribe takes the 2-0 lead on a score by Candice. Colby scores again to take win reward 3-0.

In addition to the food, they get a clue telling them there’s another immunity idol at their beach. They pretend like they’re going to ignore the clue. For a few minutes. They agree to use it together against the other tribe.

Russell tells Jerri and Coach that he wants to be in the final three with them. Coach thinks this is all bunk, but that Jerri is buying it. While these two may say they’re allies, they don’t seem to be on the same path.

For the immunity challenge, three members of each tribe will race relay style across a net, then climb up a rope web to retrieve puzzle pieces. Once they’ve collected all six bags, the two remaining tribe members will solve the puzzle. Jerri, Danielle, and Russell sit out for the Villains. JT and Amanda are on the puzzle for the Heroes; Boston Rob and Sandra are on the puzzle for the Villains. Parvati gets a slight lead over Rupert for the Villains. Courtney extends that lead over Candice. Coach continues the lead over Colby. Parvati loses some of the lead. Then Courtney completely loses it with her slow climbing and fear of jumping off the net, falling way behind Candice. Colby then runs with it to give the Heroes the early start on the puzzle. For a change, it looks like the Heroes may actually win on a puzzle, and they do.

Coach says that they need to get rid of the weak link, which would be Courtney following that challenge.

Russell is talking to Rob, Courtney, and Sandra. He wants to get rid of the weak. Either Courtney or Sandra. At least he’s not hiding his plans.

Coach agrees with that logic. They have to be too careful at the challenges because Courtney and Sandra are weak.

Rob’s plan is to get rid of the threat, Russell. His theory is that the thing most important to Coach is his loyalty. Either he sticks to the alliance, or it will be known he’s a liar.

In turn, Russell would like to get rid of Rob. This is going to be a harder sell than Courtney, who clearly blew the challenge.

Coach says that the elimination of Tyson removed the bridge of the gap between the sides. He begs Rob and Russell to stop being at each other’s throats.

The Celebrity Apprentice 3 Episode 3

After losing control of Bret and not getting the product message across, Sinbad was fired in The Celebrity Apprentice 3 Episode 2.

When he returns, Bret continues to whine. People are ganging up on him apparently. Everybody walks out of the room, growing increasingly tired of him.

LifeLock and Norton have come together to create a new product. The teams will create an advertising campaign.

Gavin Maloof will be taking Ivanka’s place for this week.

Michael Johnson is the project manager for the men; Summer Sanders will be the project manager for the women.

At the meeting with the executives, Cyndi Lauper is returning to her questions that everybody else (or at least Summer) views as a waste of time. The men, meanwhile, are dealing with Bret, who seems unable to get his thoughts out.

Selita is appointed to direct the 4 page photo essay, which Cyndi takes offense to.

Of course, Summer, who’s had it out for Cyndi for a while, isn’t going to give Cyndi that large a role. When Maria suggests that Cyndi should be the spokesperson, Summer objects. She appoints Sharon. In doing so, she fails to explain why, trying to pretend as if it’s not because she thinks Cyndi is a waste.

Bret’s desperate to prove that he can help, but he’s still unable to figure out how.

Michael has selected Curtis as the spokesperson. Rod pushes for it to be Michael, but he vetoes that and sticks with Curtis. I’d sooner recognize Curtis over Michael. I agree with Michael’s stance that Curtis is current.

Maria asks what their concept is. Summer doesn’t know.

Sharon warns that they’re all probably going to end up hating each other if they keep up with the bickering that’s currently going on.

Summer sends Cyndi away with Maria to the prop house to get rid of her.

Rod is assigned the task of surfing the web. Unfortunately, he can’t even turn the computer on. When they turn the computer on for him, he proceeds to type. One finger at a time.

When Summer meets with the photographer, she doesn’t have any idea still what she’s talking about or doing. He can’t follow her direction if she hasn’t given it to him.

Darryl is in charge of getting the props, and since it took Rod 30 minutes to type a paragraph, he’ll be going with him. Darryl says he’s having trouble getting his body to work all day long like a normal person. As for Rod, he’s spending his time being a politician, proclaiming his innocence and kissing babes.

Don Jr. shows up to ask Summer about her concept. It’s a work in progress.

After Don leaves, Summer finally comes up with an idea. Sharon is the protector, who will be in the background of every shot.

The women find it quite amusing that Curtis is in an apron again. The focus of their campaign is that he does everything that a normal person does, but he’s much better protected. Michael is the world’s fastest man, while Goldberg is the world’s strongest man. They will be knocking out identity theft.

Bret’s taking it upon himself to decide the direction of the advertorial. Michael is not happy with this and lays down the law. He doesn’t want an advertisement. He wants a bunch of words.

Gavin visits the men, and he finds they have a good vision and clear concept, but it’s wordy. Michael is unconcerned that Gavin seems confused. He considers it a waste of time to pay Gavin any mind.

The photos eat up a lot of time for the women, so they’re left having to rush their way through the presentation and ad as quickly as possible. Holly has no clue what the presentation looks like because it was such a rush. She just hopes it makes sense.

The executives are smiling while Curtis gives his presentation, but the smiles end when Michael steps forward and presents the advertorial.

But at least their presentation is working. Summer steps forward and points toward a screen. A blank screen. So she has to wing it. Eventually, the powerpoint presentation does pop up. Then Sharon takes the stage. She’s still under the weather and coughing.

Neither campaign is sufficient. In both cases, they’d have to make changes in order to be able to use the ads. The women lacked education in their material, whereas the men had way too much information, some of which may not have been entirely accurate. The women had some issues with their presentation, and there was no call to action. Curtis was very good, but they’d rather see Goldberg up there.

Michael says that Rod was the weakest player. Bret was not as hard to handle as expected.

Summer calls out Cyndi for wasting time and steering them in the wrong direction. Holly agrees that Cyndi can be wordy.

In the end, the women win. Not an overwhelming victory but a victory nonetheless. Michael’s gotta take the fall on this for insisting on so many words that nobody is going to read. Regardless, he’s not the weakest link on his team.

As the winning project manager, Summer will receive $20,000 for her charity, Right to Play, which brings sports to children in developing countries that have been affected by war. In addition, they will donate a portion of sales.

Michael takes responsibility for having too many words in the ad, insisting he knew what an advertorial was supposed to be.

Bret says that his ideas are respected sometimes, but sometimes no.

Rod says he’s not being utilized enough. He’d have rather been on the creative side of this instead of running errands.

Rod would fire the project manager. Bret agrees.

Darryl thinks everybody has done a super job, so if he has to let anybody go, he can let him go. So does Darryl want to be fired? It sure seems as if he’s on his last legs pretty early in the process. Yes, he does want to be fired. He’s tired. Given his status in New York, the guys are gonna miss him on fundraising tasks.

Darryl Strawberry is fired. Michael says he won’t feel comfortable being here if Darryl just leaves, but Trump won’t be firing him, too.

The Amazing Race 16 Episode 7

Jordan & Jeff finally reached the end of the road in The Amazing Race 16 Episode 6.

Teams depart in the order in which they arrived.

First: Louie & Michael – 12:35AM
Second: Carol & Brandy – 1:28AM
Third: Steve & Allie – 1:57AM
Fourth: Jet & Cord – 2:36AM
Fifth: Dan & Jordan – 3:36AM
Sixth: Brent & Caite – 4:36AM

Hopefully this week they’re actually going to take a plane somewhere and break up the monotony of teams finishing in almost the same order every week. Teams must now fly 5500 miles to the island of Mahe in the Seychelles, a remote chain of islands in the Indian Ocean. Regardless of the gap in times, there’s only one flight there, so everybody will be on the same one.

When they land, they’ll have to make their way on foot to a kiosk, where they will take a number. So basically the positioning comes down to seating on the flight. They will take helicopters to the island of La Digue.

First helicopters: Brent & Caite, Steve & Allie, Dan & Jordan
Second helicopters (1 hour later): Louie & Michael, Carol & Brandy, Jet & Cord

The detour is a choice between turtle toddle or ox trot. In turtle toddle, teams will lure a giant tortoise across the lawn to a marker. Then they’ll each grab a bunch of bananas and carry them a mile and a half to the harbor. In ox trot, teams will bring a cart to a clearing, which they must load up with coconuts. Then the ox handler will attach an ox to the cart, which they must deliver to the harbor. Either task with animals has the potential to prove frustrating, but there’s a reason why they call oxes stubborn.

Ox trot: Brent & Caite, Dan & Jordan, Louie & Michael, Jet & Cord, Carol & Brandy (switched from turtle toddle)
Turtle toddle: Steve & Allie

The ox clue warns them that they can’t drop any cargo, but that doesn’t stop Caite from tossing a coconut to the side and not bothering to look for it. Before they even get that bit of bad news, Brent & Caite are already calling each other idiots. The bad luck doesn’t stop there. Steve & Allie forget their backpacks after they complete the part with the turtle. Considering Allie’s getting banana all over her shirt to begin with, though, trying to do that while lugging a backpack may not have been a viable option anyway.

Brent says he’s not going back. He quits. He and Caite reluctantly agree to go back, but she cries on the way back about how unfair it is that they didn’t read the clue.

And so it continues. Carol & Brandy are unable to complete the turtle task, which puts them in last. However, they get lucky because Jet & Cord checked to see whether any fell out, but apparently did not check hard enough. It’s not over yet. Carol & Brandy checked around the cart, but they did not check underneath. Well, that should be sufficient to put them in last place. As if that’s not bad enough, Carol blames Brandy.

From there, teams will take a boat to St. Pierre Island. On the boat ride over, after they see Dan & Jordan, Steve & Allie realize they forgot their bags. They assume this means their bags are gone now. The good news is that they have their passports with them still. Now it’s just a question of whether they want to go back for the comfort the bags will provide. Seeing as they’ve got an hour head start, it shouldn’t be the end of the world to go back, but it’s still a risk. They opt to just leave them behind.

The road block is to search the water to find a case of submerged bottles, untie one, and bring it up to the surface. Inside is a map, which will take them to the pit stop.

Road block (in order of arrival): Steve, Jordan, Brent, Michael, Cord, Brandy

The drama doesn’t end there. Unable to get the map outside the bottle, Jet & Cord left it behind, opting to give it to their boat driver. Without that, Phil can’t check them in, so they’re going to need to go retrieve it. Their only option is to swim to that boat and get the bottle. On their way back, they realize they’re in last place now.

The pit stop for this leg of the race is Praslin Island. Brent tells Phil it’s pretty anonymous that all the teams want Carol & Brandy gone. Apparently he means unanimous.

First: Steve & Allie (win $7,000 and all the 7UP they can drink)
Second: Dan & Jordan
Third: Brent & Caite
Fourth: Louie & Michael
Fifth: Carol & Brandy
Non-eliminated: Jet & Cord

Jet & Cord are still in the race, but they will have to complete a speed bump in the next leg.

Survivor South Africa: Santa Carolina Episode 3

Survivor South Africa: Santa Carolina Episode 2 marked the second episode in a row in which two people went home. After being cleared by medical as having nothing wrong, Jub Jub still quit, claiming he had something wrong with his inner genitals. His tribe won immunity anyway, so Timbila decided they needed to take out a threat even though it’s still really early in the game, and Cindy got the axe.

Not that anybody liked him before, but the talk of Craig being useless is resurfacing. In his effort to prove he’s useful, he breaks their hook while fishing.

ProVerb refuses to carry a giant clam back to camp. He’s afraid of it and insists it made a shrieking sound.

Treemail tells them they need to pick someone strong and light as a feather. Assuming the other tribe will pick Izak, Sade volunteers, and she gets upset when GiGi suggests that her against Izak may not be a good match. Okkert would also like to volunteer, so they pick him. Timbila as expected chooses Izak apparently without much discussion or the amount of argument that went into the other tribe’s decision.

Izak and Okkert show up for the reward challenge. It’s a duel. They would have looked pretty stupid if they chose Sade. With Okkert, they at least have a fighting chance. They must knock their opponent off the beam. Pick n Pay has put together various food items. In a pitiful start, both of the guys fall off almost immediately with nobody actually being hit. When they get back up, Izak scores first. Then Okkert scores. Okkert scores again to take the lead 2-10. Then 3-1. Chibudu wins reward. Okkert’s given a choice between receiving the reward or the clue to the idol. If he takes the clue, Izak gets the food. Horrible trade. There would be no hiding that, and it would cost him the game sooner or later. Okkert declines the deal, opting instead for the food.

Izak beats himself up over the loss, and his tribe is not very helpful, suggesting that he didn’t have a chance anyway.

When Chibudu opens up the chest, Craig takes a handful of chips. We’ve seen people gets sent home for less.

Darren remains worried that he’s on the outside. That worry is warranted. Now that his role as chef has been threatened by Sandi, his stock just dropped.

At the immunity challenge, both tribes must pick one male and one female competitor to be their load bearers. They will continue to add weight until only one person is left standing. Sandi and Darren will load water for Timbila; Sandi and Sade will load for Chibudu. Louw and Lady Lea will be the load bearers for Timbila; Okkert and Hanna will be the load bearers for Chibudu. Louw and Okkert are targeted first. They start off with 8kg (17 pounds) and will be heading up to a maximum of 100kg (220 pounds). Louw and Okkert continue to receive the weight as the challenge continues. After several minutes, Okkert has 24kg, Louw 20kg, Lea 8kg, Hanna 4kg. 15 minutes in Okkert has 52kg, Louw 40kg, Lea 20kg, Hanna 8kg. It’s around this time that it looks as if Okkert’s getting ready to buckle. After 26 minutes, Darren tells his team they need to focus on Hanna because there’s no way Okkert is going to last much longer. The first person out of the challenge is actually Louw at 80kg. Okkert, meanwhile, continues to hold strong, strangely enough finding a way to stop holding the bar and just let it rest on his shoulders. He finally drops a few minutes later at 84kg. The girls are roughly even, so it’s a matter of who can hold it longer. Lea’s been holding more weight longer, but it’s ultimately Hanna who drops. Timbila wins immunity.

Everybody has been questioning Craig for a while, making this a good opportunity to get rid of him. Craig starts looking for the idol, but he left the clue with Kaseran, so it’s all fuzzy. What he does know is that it’s on their island somewhere. This is a bit of information he shares with GiGi.

Craig says that the wrong people were picked for that challenge. Maybe GiGi should have gone up instead of Hanna.

Craig’s luck has finally run out, and his tribe finally gets rid of somebody without it being a case of someone quitting or getting injured.

Survivor South Africa: Santa Carolina Episode 2

Following a terrible start in Survivor South Africa: Santa Carolina Episode 1, Chibudu is already two people down. First, Christina lasted one whole night before deciding it was too hard, so she made up a lame excuse and quit. Then, following his challenge injury, Garth was voted out because he was barely able to walk. To make matters worse, they seem to have their next in line already picked out, having decided their “leader” Craig is useless.

Jub Jub claims he has a rash and an infection. He’s saying he wants to go home, too. Oh geez. Where did they find these idiots?

Louw is scheming with everybody. He claims his main alliance is with Izak and Kaseran, but he says that they should jump on any bandwagon they can.

After Jub Jub injures himself on some coral, medical has come in to take a look at him. Diagnosis: he has two minor cuts on the bottom of his foot. On a scale of 1-10, this injury ranks as a 2. There goes his plan to make it look like he has an actual medical problem.

When the contestants arrive at the challenge, Nico reminds them that this is Survivor. It’s supposed to be tough. Furthermore, there are a lot of people who would love to be right where they’re standing, and wouldn’t walk away because they didn’t get a good night’s sleep on the first night.

Each tribe will pick a member to be harnessed to a crane. The rest of the tribe will move that person to build a lighthouse out of puzzle pieces. They must then carry that across the beach without dropping it. If they do drop it, they’ll have to rebuild it without a mosquito. Reward is fishing gear, including a boat. Ashley and Lea sit out for Timbila. GiGi and Cindy are the mosquitoes, who will be in the harnesses. Timbila’s got the lead by a piece or two, and they are the first to complete the lighthouse. Within about two seconds, Timbila’s structure falls, allowing Chibudu to just about catch up. Having dropped their lighthouse once already, Timbilia is going extremely slowly and almost blows their large lead, but they manage to win reward by seconds. Gys is going to exile. Izak will be joining Chibudu for the night.

Izak’s happy to be away from his tribe because a couple people are already starting with the backstabbing.

With the new fishing gear, Louw has managed to catch himself a fish. If he can establish himself as the provider, he should go a long way.

That night is their first stormy one, complete with ominous black clouds and plenty of wind.

Jub Jub may or may not be quitting. Just make a move already or stop whining, dude.

Cindy has designed the shelter in her head following the rains, and now she is putting her plan into action.

Gys waits until low tide before he heads out on his search for the idol. Then he finds it. Or so he thinks he does. Nope, just another clue, telling him it’s not on that island.

Before the immunity challenge, Jub Jub wants to make an announcement. He quits because of an infection in his inner genitals, whatever that means, not wanting his manhood to rot off. For the sake of clarification, he is indeed deserting his tribe before the challenge, leaving them one additional man down.

One person for each tribe will be a codebreaker, solving a mathematical equation to lead their tribemates to keys that need to be placed in the correct boxes. Louw, Izak, and Kaseran sit out for Timbila. Ashley and Craig are the codebreakers. Craig’s first challenge is to just get the numbers out of the bag. The tribes start out guessing without the equation being done. For Chibudu, this works, but Timbila grabs the wrong key. Gys is the first one to the final platform. Gigi then joins him as Ashley and her team argue. ProVerb’s second key is right, and he makes it to the platform after Sade does. Izak is correct on box 4, giving them a clear 4-1 lead. Hanna has the final key for Chibudu, but she’ll need to make it across without falling. Timbila makes it 4-2, then 4-3, then they tie it 4-4. After making for an interesting conclusion, Chibudu nonetheless still wins immunity.

Darren’s worried. It’s quiet. Too quiet. So does that make him the target if nobody is talking to him?

Ashley suggests that Cindy’s very strong and, therefore, a threat. A little early to be getting rid of the threats and thinking of the merge. Someone who’s smart and fit should be a useful asset to a tribe at this point.

Cindy has indeed been voted off the island. Strange to see the entire tribe turn on someone they consider a threat in episode 2.
