Lost Season 5 Episode 2

On Lost Season 5 Episode 1, we learned what happened to the island after it disappeared. It went through a time loop. In order to save everybody from dying, Jack and Ben hope to gather those who escaped the island all up and go back.

Three years ago as they were on their way to rescue, the six plus Frank are trying to agree to lie to protect those who remain from Charles Widmore. Hurley doesn’t like the plan, but Penny tells him there’s no calling her father off. The truth is crazy, unless somebody backs him up, but nobody else is willing to tell it.

Back in the present, Hurley gets pulled over by a cop. Luckily it’s Ana Lucia, who tells him it was dumb of him to pull over and that he needs to pull himself together. And Libby says “Hi.”

Dan needs to calculate a new bearing in order for them to leave, which requires him to figure out when the hell are they.

Hurley stops at a convenience store, where he sees himself on TV. The girl at the counter recognizes him, but at least she doesn’t know he’s wanted by the police.

Kate gets a call from a mystery friend and is on her way there.

Ben tells Jack that, if there’s anything he wants, he needs to pack it because he’s never coming back. Jack responds simply “Good.” Ben’s going to move John somewhere safe. He’s dead, isn’t he?

Hugo shows up at home wearing an I Heart Shih-Tsu shirt and with an Iraqi over his shoulder. He tells his dad David that he’s in danger, though he’s not sure from whom. LAPD arrives to have a little chat. He didn’t kill three people, though. Sayid did. David tells him they’re not going to be able to wake Sayid up from having been shot by a dart and that they need a doctor.

Kate arrives at mystery friend’s place. It’s Sun.

Ben pays a visit to a butcher. He doesn’t want the porterhouse… just for a corpse to be watched.

The island crew has been trying to get fire all day. Neil the frogurt guy is growing impatient with them. Charlotte can’t seem to shake her headache, and she’s having memory loss. Dan knows what’s wrong, and she knows it. Before he has to answer to her, Miles has brought them all dinner, a boar. This sets Neil off. They can’t even get fire. All he had to do is ask. A flaming arrow hits him. Since more are on their way, it may be time to run. Frogurt guy’s a goner, though. We hardly knew him. Some other people who aren’t particularly relevant die as well.

David says he’s either crazy or he’s lying. He’s not crazy, and he has a really good reason for lying. Before he can tell the reason, Hugo’s mom Carmen shows up to find a not breathing guy on her couch.

Kate tells Sun about the lawyers. Sun doesn’t think they’re interested in exposing the lie, just getting Aaron.

Since they’re in need of a doctor, Hugo sends his father with Sayid to Jack, who wants to get him to the hospital. Getting their hands on Sayid was pretty easy. David’s got another request: stay away from Hugo.

Carmen’s now pushing Hugo for answers. He admits it was all a lie, then he tells her the truth, which sounds nutty. She believes him anyway, which could quite possibly be because the story doesn’t make a lot of sense.

Sawyer and Juliet get grabbed in the jungle by people who want to know what they’re doing on their island.

Jack begins his work on Sayid. He hooks him up to some machines and injects him with something. Shining a light in his eye is what really gets to him and causes him to wake up.

Ben arrives at Hugo’s house. He can get him out of there, but Hurley doesn’t trust Ben because Sayid warned him not to. They all want the same thing. To go back to the island. A convincing argument, but Hugo says “Never, dude” and runs outside to the cops. He admits to being a murderer. He killed four people… or three people… or however many people are dead.

As the men are about to cut off Juliet’s hand, someone comes to save the day. That could only be Locke.

Ben’s told he only has 70 hours, and if he can’t get them all to come back, God help them all.

Lost Season 5 Episode 1

At the end of season 4, the Oceanic Six (Jack, Kate, Sayid, Hurley, Sun, and Aaron) got off the island, which seemed to be a good thing since it disappeared and all. They decided they had to lie to everybody about everything in order to protect those who remained on the island.

Ben has told Jack that they need to go back to the island, all of them. First they’ll grab Locke’s body. Since he’s dead, he should be easy to convince. Next, Hurley should be pretty easy since he’s in a mental institution. Jack believes he needs to go back to the island because John told him that, if he didn’t, everybody on the island would die.

Going back three years to the day the island was moved, we see that Locke was standing there next to Richard until a bright light flashed. Then Richard disappeared. Dan and the others heading back on the boat were inside the radius and were moved with the others on the island. The freighter, however, is gone. Sawyer’s plans to go back to the camp are dashed when Bernard tells him there is no camp. Dan tells them the camp isn’t gone and that he needs to go somewhere manmade. He says the camp isn’t gone. It just hasn’t been built yet.

Some lawyers show up on Kate’s doorstep and ask for blood samples from her and her son to determine whether they’re actually related. They don’t divulge who they’re working for, but it’s enough to scare her. She throws them out and says to come back with the sheriff. While they’re off getting him, she tosses some stuff in a bag and grabs Aaron. Farewell house.

Dan doesn’t want to explain, so Sawyer slaps him. He compares the island to a skipping record, saying that Ben’s actions at the orchid station dislodged them from time.

Elsewhere on the island, Locke almost gets hit by a plane, the Nicaraguan one where Boone died. Not having learned his lesson from Boone’s collapse, he tries climbing up to it until shots are fired, striking him in the leg. It’s their old pal Ethan. John decides to tell him the truth, which is a bad idea. As Ethan prepares to shoot him, the bright light flashes again. At least the crazy guy with the gun is gone now, although the sun has gone down with it. Sawyer asks Dan when they are now. His response is that they’re either in the past or in the future. Brilliant answer.

Sun’s at an airport flying to LA. When the airport agent is checking her in, she asks her to wait there after taking her passport. Then they lock her in a room with Widmore. He wants to know about their “common interests.” She wants to kill Benjamin Linus, too.

As they’re watching the news, Ben and Jack hear that Hugo is being accused of killing someone. As for Hurley, he’s at a drive thru with Sayid, who Hugo suggests should get some more comfort food so he doesn’t have to go around shooting people. Sayid says he’s been working for Ben. To clear up any confusion about this, he tells him to do the opposite of whatever Ben tells him, should he ever have the misfortune of running into him again. After a shootout in which Sayid kills someone else, Hurley’s spotted with a gun in his hand. Hurley says they never should have left that island.

Dan and the others arrive at the hatch to find it’s all blowed up, which at least means they’re at a point after when they crashed on the island. He warns them that it’s not possible to change anything. If they try to do anything different, they will fail every time.

Locke gets up to find the plane upside down on the ground. Richard’s back, and he knows there’s a bullet in Locke’s leg. He told him he was shot. Or he will tell him that anyway. Like Dan, Richard doesn’t want to explain anything, but he warns him that he won’t recognize him the next time they meet, so he gives him a compass. Oh, and by the way, he’s going to have to die. Then there’s another flash, and the plane’s back where it was before.

The others are also back in time, and the hatch is back, albeit closed. Sawyer heads to the back door for some supplies, and he plans to get Desmond to let him in, except Desmond didn’t know him back then since they never met. Dan tells him to stop wasting his time because if it didn’t happen, it can’t happen. Sawyer doesn’t like that answer because everybody he cares about just blew up. Juliet wants to head back to the beach. When they get started, Charlotte’s nose begins bleeding. She says it’s nothing, but Dan doesn’t seem to agree. Having just told Sawyer not to bother banging on the door, he does so for 20 minutes, and Desmond finally answers, gun in hand. The rules don’t apply to Desmond because he’s special. Dan tells him that everybody is in danger and that he has to go back to Oxford and find his mother. Desmond wakes up from his island nightmare and knows it was real. He has to get to Oxford.

American Idol Season 8 Episode 4

Last night American Idol went to San Francisco in American Idol Season 8 Episode 3. The show was desperately starved for talent, but we did see Adam Lambert and Kai Kalama toward the end of the night.

Tonight’s stop is Louisville, Kentucky. The first trick for the contestants is to figure out which pronunciation of Louisville is correct.

Tiffany Shedd is up first. We know she’s going to bomb, but at least she’s going to college when they reject her. She sings Mariah Carey’s Hero. Simon calls her a donkey. After walking out, she’s angry that the show is just looking for nerds and freaks, which explains how she got on it.

Joanna Pacitti has been trying to make it in the industry since she moved to LA at age 16. A&M Records signed her back then. In 2007, she was dropped from her label a year after her debut album. So much for this show being about the best undiscovered talent in America. Granted, it’s obvious nobody discovered her music when she had a record deal. She sings Pat Benetar’s We Belong. It’s obvious this chick can sing, but I’m not liking this trend of people coming on Idol for a second/third chance.

Mark Mudd, Jr. has a story about how he’s almost died 5 times and how he’s related to Samuel Mudd, the doctor who fixed John Wilkes Booth’s leg after he broke it while shooting Abraham Lincoln. He sings George Jones’ White Lightning. Sounds better than I’d expected. Simon suggests he go on Wheel of Fortune instead. When he’s walking out of the room, he tells the judges to be careful, which they believe is a threat.

Brent Keith Smith sings Bad Company’s Something for You. Paula is pleasantly surprised. Simon didn’t like the song, which leads Kara to pout. He says yes anyway, as does everyone else. Then Paula and Kara go under the table for some reason.

Dueling piano player Matt Giraud sings Gavin DeGraw’s I Don’t Wanna Be. Different but with potential. Simon worries about his lack of self confidence. He’s through to Hollywood.

Ross Plavsic knows about stuff nobody else cares to know about. He’ll be singing Cara Mia by Jay & The Americans. Allegedly, the reason he sounds so bad is because his throat is scratchy. So he takes a sip out of Paula’s cup.

Stay-at-home mom Alexis Grace, 21, has a 2 year old daughter named Ryan. She sings Aretha Franklin’s Dr. Feelgood, and she pulls it off. The judges hope she comes out of her shell but vote yes based on her voice.

Aaron Williamson is so pumped and wants to scream loud enough so that everybody gets annoyed by him. He sings (aka shouts) Creedence Clearwater Revival’s Have You Ever Seen the Rain? Eventually the judges get out of control, too, until Simon gets them to stop. That was a waste of time.

Rebecca Garcia was on the local news the morning of the show. She sings Carrie Underwood Before He Cheats. These news people should really screen these people before putting them on. Kara thinks it’s a joke, but the tears convince her otherwise.

After that, we very quickly skip through four good singers since it would be too much trouble to actually show us some talent.

Leneshe Young grew up homeless. She’s there with her mom to move on and go forward. She sings an original song, which the judges like for some reason, but regardless her voice is strong. Kara calls her brilliant.

American Idol Season 8 Episode 3

American Idol 8 Episode 2 and Kansas City brought us Ashley Anderson, Jason Castro and his brother Michael Castro, Matt Breitzke, Danny Gokey, and Lil Rounds.

Tonight we head to San Francisco, where Katharine McPhee and, more importantly, William Hung auditioned.

Tatiana del Toro from Puerto Rico (Simon points out they’re going there and she could have saved the airfare) is… confused. She rattles off a bunch of job titles which may or may not be jobs she actually does. To help her through her confusion, she went to a psychic who said she’ll be in the top 12. She sings Aretha Franklin’s Never Loved a Man, among other songs. She’s not as good as she thinks she is, but she’s good enough to proceed. Simon and Randy warn her she doesn’t have the big voice she wants to have. Randy says yes. Kara doesn’t think she has the vocals but likes the vibe. Paula says yes. Simon doesn’t vote, but Tatiana wants him to change his mind anyway. Hopefully when she gets to Hollywood she’ll pick up a new laugh.

Dean Anthony Bradford is in the wrong decade. He sings Stars by Simply Red. What the bloody hell is this?

Jesus Valenzuela is trying out for this show since it’s a family show and his kids are really into it. He sings a couple lines of something before Simon stops him. Paula kinda likes him, and the opportunity arises for him to bring his kids into the audition room. Simon says no regardless, but the others say yes. Somehow Simon gets a hug out of this.

Dalton Powell finishes his Rubik’s Cube pretty quickly. He should probably stick to that.

Akilah Askew-Gholston is studying anatomy, which she believes will teach her how to sing gospel. If only she could pronounce any of the body parts (or anything else). She doesn’t know the difference between Simon and Randy either, although she somehow knows who Kara is. She sings an original song Make Sweet Love. Simon tells her that her song sucks, so she sings A Natural Woman, which convinces them she’s not a singer. Her argument is that the bad high note came from the wrong rectum and she should be given another chance. Oh, and Paula makes her nervous because she had a hit song in the early 80s when she was a child.

Annie Murdoch plays instruments and scats. She could quite possibly be possessed.

Adam Lambert from Hollywood has been singing since he was about 10. He’s been in the cast of Wicked for the past year and a half. He sings Bohemian Rhapsody, Simon’s favorite. Paula calls him one of the most diverse singers they’ve seen. Simon thinks he’s very theatrical. Randy says yes. Simon agrees. Kara reluctantly sides with Simon. After his story about how he had a crush on Paula back when she was famous, she says he’s the best they’ve seen.

Closing out the show is Kai Kalama, who’s been taking care of his sick mother for about a year. He sings Smoke Gets in Your Eyes by The Platters. Simon likes the voice but not the ship singer personality. The others have the same line of thinking, but everybody says yes.

The Biggest Loser Couples 2 Episode 3

Last week on The Biggest Loser Couples 2 Episode 2, it came down to a choice between the two people who most desperately needed to be there. Choosing in favor of Dan, the heaviest contestant ever, the contestants voted out 63 year old Jerry and his wife Estella.

Sione’s eating some pizza now that he’s at home. David continues his poor showing from last week with some fried chicken at a buffet. The other at home contestants seem to get what they’re supposed to be doing, though.

The temptation is 5 minutes alone in the room, where they can eat as much or at little food as they want. Their partners have also had this opportunity, and their results will be revealed later. Alison does clue them in that not all of the others resisted temptation. The highest number of calories wins the temptation. Reward is to train with the trainers at home. Going home’s a bad thing on the path to weight loss, although depriving others of a trainer may be advantageous.

Mandi: 380 calories (1 slice of pizza)
Aubrey: 0 calories
Yellow Total: 380 calories

Filipe: 0 calories
Sione: 960 calories (2 pieces of pizza, 1 taco)
Blue Total: 960 calories

Kristin: 0 calories
Cathy: 0 calories
Purple Total: 0 calories

Damien: 0 calories
Nicole: 0 calories
Red Total: 0 calories

Helen: 0 calories
Shannon: 0 calories
Pink Total: 0 calories

Tara: 0 calories
Laura: 0 calories
Green Total: 0 calories

Joelle: 0 calories
Carla: 2710 calories (3 slices of pizza, two cupcakes, five chicken nuggets, 1 taco… holy hell)
Silver Total: 2710 calories

Silver team easily wins the temptation due to Carla’s ridiculous binge. Joelle will be going home and will be taking her trainer Bob with her. This should be interesting after Bob went psycho on her last week. He hopes to warn Carla that Joelle’s close to the bottom lately. Mandi gets upset because she can’t deal with Joelle celebrating. Apparently, Mandi deserves to go home because she has kids.

When they get to Detroit, Carla says she’s been staying positive. Then Bob drops the news on Carla, who takes it about as well as we would expect from her.

Mandi’s working out on the treadmill, and all of a sudden she hits a wall and starts crying. Jillian thinks it’s mostly an emotional wall rather than a physical one.

Back in Detroit, Carla and Joelle are working out with Bob, and Carla wants to use the time to convince Joelle she needs to work harder. Eventually, Carla’s harping on the issue just pisses off Joelle. So then Carla gets angry as well. They’re wasting their 2700 calorie workout arguing… and arguing… and arguing. Carla seems to be of the opinion that increased volume make her point more valid. Then at dinner we go back to this same shrieking again. Joelle is mostly just getting tired of hearing Carla’s voice.

They go to meet the doctor again. Blaine was on 8 medications when he started. He’s managed to get rid of all of them already, which will save him $733,000 over the course of his life. Ron’s down from 10 pills to just 1 and a fraction of his insulin.

The challenge is to jump over the beam as it swings toward them. The last winner of this challenge lasted over 40 minutes. Immunity is up for grabs. Joelle is out on the very first jump. Ron makes it to the second. Dan makes it to the third. Helen makes it one further. This is an endurance competition? Damien’s out after 57 jumps. Filipe makes just over 100 jumps. Mandi is out after 141 jumps. With three people left, it gets faster at 200 jumps. Dane’s eliminated just shy of 2 hours. It’s down to Kristin and Tara, who have hit 1000 jumps. Shortly after the 1000 mark, Tara wins at 2 hours 19 minutes. Tara wins immunity again. Her secret was remaining hydrated by throwing up in her mouth.

Tara: 264 pounds (-8, 2.94%, immune)

Helen: 231 pounds (-6, 2.53%)

Mandi: 237 pounds (-8, 3.27%)

Joelle: 288 pounds (-6, 2.04%)

Filipe: 324 pounds (-14, 4.14%)

Mike: 348 pounds (-11, 3.06%)
Ron: 377 pounds (-9, 2.33%)
Brown Total: -20 pounds, 2.68%

Blaine: 323 pounds (-12, 3.58%)
Dane: 360 pounds (-18, 4.76%)
Black Total: -30 pounds, 4.21%

Damien: 351 pounds (-4, 1.13%)

Dan: 406 pounds (-15, 3.56%)

Kristin: 324 pounds (-7, 2.11%)

That puts Joelle and Damien below the yellow line. Jillian’s team has the control to take out the bigger threat and leave someone in who’s not functioning well within her team and who’s not sure she wants to be there. However, the mood in the house has been heavily against Joelle for weeks.

Votes
Filipe: Joelle
Mike & Ron: Joelle
Kristin: Joelle
Helen: Joelle
Blaine & Dane: Damien
Tara: Damien
Mandi: Damien
Dan: Damien

With the votes tied, Damien (along with his partner Nicole) has been eliminated since he had the lowest percentage of weight loss. Joelle lives for another week, whether she likes it or not. Nicole is down 76 pounds, while Damien has lost 74 pounds.

Stay tuned to dingoRUE for another live recap of The Biggest Loser 7 Episode 4, which airs Tuesday at 8/7c on NBC.

Jericho Movie

Jericho wasn’t on the air for very long before it was cancelled (twice), which means there’s still more story to tell. Jericho executive producer Jon Turteltaub told iFMagazine that work is being done on a feature film.

“We’re developing a feature for JERICHO,” says Turteltaub. “It would not require you to have seen the TV show, but it get into life after an event like this on a national scale. It would be the bigger, full on American version of what’s going on beyond the town in Jericho.”

Would the TV cast return? “Oh yeah!”

Kyle XY Season 3 Episode 2

Kyle found out that Amanda’s kidnapping was just a test in Kyle XY Season 3 Episode 1. Latnok wanted to know how he’d be able to control his powers under stressful situations.

Kyle’s at the restaurant with Amanda as she cleans up after her shift. The lights go out, and he hears a noise. For some reason, she wanders off and is captured Cassidy. Then he wakes up. Safe and sound in his tub.

Lori has written 9 songs about Declan and Hillary making out, and she decides to hang out with Mark, who she forces to ask her out. He would asj her out if he weren’t afraid of her father, but he’s willing to take the risk and ask for permission.

When Kyle arrives at the fair to look for Amanda, she arrives late, but the bad news is that Cassidy happens to be there.

Nicole pays a visit to Jessi to talk to Sarah. She’ll be happy to wait, but she could be waiting a long time. Jessi tells her to go, but Nicole insists. The knife covered letter is probably a good place to start. Jessi asks her to not tell Kyle.

Amanda said she woke up not feeling well, but she just thinks it’s a spiked punch headache. She can’t remember anything about being at the afterparty. Josh, who is under the impression he’s a man now that he’s done the deed, covers up the fact that she really wasn’t there. Amanda wants Kyle to tell her the truth, so he makes up a story about how she wandered away from the school and passed out. Now she’s mad at him for lying to her. She’ll probably be mad again when she figures out that he lied to her again. At Andy and Josh’s recommendation, Kyle agrees to go see the psychic they just went to. She knows the only way to get to him is through those he loves, warning that his soulmate is in danger and that a white rabbit will swim tonight.

Strangely, Amanda decides to see Hillary for some advice and female bonding. Clearly the first woman she’s run into today. As for Hillary, she’s still pretending that kissing Declan didn’t mean anything. So they plan to shut themselves indoors and wallow in chocolate.

Nicole breaks and enters into Sarah’s apartment by pretending to be her and asking her landlord to let her in. She’s waiting for Jessi so that she can as her to come home with her and work on getting over her trust issues.

As Amanda and Hillary are preparing for girl’s night, Lori arrives.

Josh’s not so subtle routine of being all growed up isn’t lost on his dad, who finally figures out why Josh is acting the way he is. As Stephen’s letting out his anger, the doorbell rings. It’s Mark. He has the worst timing in the history of the universe, and Stephen denies him without hearing the question.

Kyle invites a fourth wheel to girl’s night, asking Jessi to do him a favor and go over there and keep an eye on Amanda. Bad timing for Lori, who had decided to bail about two seconds before getting the text that Jessi’s arriving. When Kyle calls to apologize to Jessi for not noticing she needed him, Amanda overhears their conversation, doesn’t want to be babysat, and wants to go out instead. At least Lori will be the babysitter instead.

Kyle calls Lori, who pretends it’s really Mark on the other end. Then Mark shows up. So Amanda’s mad at Lori, and then Hillary’s mad as well when she finds out Lori’s got a DJ on the side despite her Declan protests. Since Mark knows where they’re going, so does Cassidy.

Now that Josh’s dad knows (and he believes consequently his mom), Andy’s cutting Josh off.

When Hillary and Lori are having a chick fight with colored syrup, Kyle arrives to ask where Amanda is. She’s in line for the boat: White Rabbit. Kyle makes a mad dash for the boat when he sees something collapse. Amanda is fine. It’s Jessi who gets struck by the beam. As she’s recovering, Kyle tells her that, unlike Sarah, he would never just leave on her. Then she tells him she was looking after Amanda like he asked because she didn’t want to let him down.

Amanda’s wondering about the psychic’s prediction. The psychic said Kyle’s soulmate would be in danger, and it was Jessi who needed saving.

It turns out that the psychic was just paid off by Cassidy after all, though she did at least know that Kyle is special.
