Heroes Season 3 Episode 16

The heroes escaped from the crashed plane… and then all returned to the same place and the scene of the wreck later on in Heroes Season 3 Episode 15.

Claire’s at home having a normal breakfast with a normal family when she receives a text message from the rebel looking for her help. HRG warns her that they can’t stray from the script because they’re being watched after her little plane crash problem. After he tells her she’d better be ready for class and leaves the room, she gets another text telling her to warn Alex at Sam’s Comics.

Nathan’s list of targets includes Sylar, who’s off to meet his father with Luke. They’re heading west, but Luke won’t tell him where.

Claire arrives to see Alex, who’s surprised to see a girl. She struggles to convince him until she jabs something through her hand and heals. When HRG shows up, it’s time to run.

They try sneaking out (poorly), and Alex runs into HRG. So Claire calls him, which is enough of a distraction to knock HRG down and make a run for it.

Ando and Hiro have arrived in New Delhi, India as planned. Hiro plans to save the bridge and stop the wedding like in Parkman’s drawing. Ando goes to see the bride and shows her his powers as a sign of whether she should marry or not. So the wedding is off.

DHS is now running Nathan’s show. He wants to reinforce the facilities to deal with his magic prisoners. Abby Collins doesn’t buy what he’s selling, and she demands to see the prisoner being held without a warrant or rights.

Sylar tells Luke to stop trying to be his friend or die. Luke brings up a red wagon, which Sylar remembers (who didn’t have a red wagon?). This happy memory ends with Luke’s revelation that Sylar was sold because his dad needed cash.

Abby knows Tracy, and she vows to end Nathan.

Alex can breathe underwater, though he’s never told anyone. He and Claire have been followed by the car registration, which they realize just in time to bail and run.

Hiro’s sulking because Ando stole his chance to have his powers back. He tells Ando to go save the bride, which he attempts to do before being beaten down and carried away. Hiro plans to save him and runs in with a loaf of bread, ready to attack.

HRG is told that his daughter’s car is parked half a block away from his current location.

Luke and Sylar are having dinner, and Sylar has to tell him his powers are not for amusement. Sylar hopes to meet his father to find out why he turned out the way he did. With that, Luke gives him the address, hoping he won’t kill him now. As some men show up, they make their way out slowly, but turn into half a dozen pretty quickly. Sylar proceeds to fling people around, and they learn that bullets are useless. Sylar thanks Luke for the address and drives away. Then Luke is shot.

Now that Ando’s been kidnapped, the wedding is back on. Hiro objects as the ceremony is happening. The wedding is back off again, or so the bride requests. So the groom calls off the wedding and agrees to give Hiro his lousy friend back.

HRG asks Claire if she knows what kind of trouble she’d be in if people think he can’t control her any more. She responds that he can’t.

Nathan receives notice that the project has been terminated. He asks for 5 minutes to prove what’s going on. His argument is that they’re so dangerous they have no Constitutional rights. As they’re talking, Tracy escapes and takes a hostage, which she then freezes and smashes before getting tasered and recaptured. Abby agrees to give him all the funding he needs.

Claire tells her mom what’s going on with her dad. It’s worse than the company. They’re taking anyone with an ability, dangerous or not. His argument is that either he’s onboard, or Claire’s on the list.

Tracy thinks that Nathan wanted her to escape because he knew exactly what would happen if she did.

Hiro doesn’t have his powers back, but he has learned that he doesn’t need them to be a hero. They have received a fax from Rebel of an address in LA.

HRG is moving out of the house, but he’ll be around, as will Claire’s new buddy Alex who’s hiding in the closet.

Sylar returned to get Luke, and they’re driving west again.

Despite Tracy’s accusations, Nathan wasn’t the one who let her escape, but her getting out was no accident. Somebody had to die to save the project.

Drinking at the bar, HRG goes all fuzzy and collapses, being picked up by Peter, Suresh, and Parkman.

The Bachelor 13 Episode 7

Following the hometown dates, Jason chose his final three in The Bachelor 13 Episode 6, eliminating Naomi in the process after the creepiest home date ever.

Now that we’re down to the final three, it’s time to go on the overnight dates, which will be in New Zealand. But first it’s time for yet another 15 minute recap for those who didn’t see the last 15 minute recap.

Jillian gets picked up first in a helicopter, which they take to a lake in the middle of nowhere for a picnic. Jillian says she’s looking for a best friend, but Jason wants to know whether there’s a more passionate connection. He says they’re literally on the edge of a cliff… just like their relationship. That night they go to a winery. Every time she hangs out with him exceeds her expectations (probably because the producers keep spending more money each time). She’s been surprised that the whole process turned out like it did and has never felt like somebody is more meant for her than he is before. After dinner they head to the fantasy suite. Jillian wants to “see if we connect physically.” Jason thinks that his family would love her more than anybody.

Molly gets a rainy day with Jason. They’ll be going tandem bungee jumping in Queenstown, New Zealand, where it was invented. It’s a “huge leap of faith.” Oy. Molly’s family loved Jason, which apparently is the only reason she’s still giving him a chance. She has a list of questions. Yeah, it’s really a list that she’s written down (or printed from an online psych site), in an effort to make sure she knows that his favorite flavor of ice cream peanutbutter chocolate before taking the plunge. After asking the questions, she’s leaving one question left for tonight. Jason had fun with the quiz, but the fun part is always easy with her. He hopes to find out whether there’s anything more serious. Molly’s worried about having to talk about her feelings. Jason feels like he needs to pull a lot of things out of her. Her family isn’t mushy, which is not something Jason’s used to, but she’s trying to let her walls down and thinks she’s falling in love. Now that that’s done, she gets to question number 20, where she invites him to stay the night with her, rather than waiting for the card from Chris.

Melissa gets the last date, where Jason plans to grill her about why her family refused to meet him on a reality TV show. She’s worried about the potential fallout from that and that so and so will have an advantage because of it. They’re going out on the lake on Winston Churchill’s old boat. The boat takes them to a hot tub with a view of the lake and the mountain. She tells him her parents would just accept him if they know he makes her happy. He thinks that he can fall in love with Melissa without meeting her parents… but it can only go so far. So the proposal’s out of the question then? Upon arrival at the restaurant, they’ve got their own private room. Still harping on the hometown date, Melissa wants to know whether it’s a really big deal. Jason is unable to answer that question. When they get to the fantasy suite, hopefully they’re done talking about her parents, which has to be killing the mood. She takes the opportunity to let him know she’s never felt like this and has fallen head over heels. Jason says that his doubts are now gone.

Jillian has been eliminated. He doesn’t believe he can keep up with her, and he also doesn’t want to marry his best friend. She, however, has completely fallen in love with him. Nonetheless, she’s just looking for somebody who loves her for her.

The Amazing Race 14 Episode 1

The Amazing Race 13 ended on a high note when the strongest team brother and sister Nick & Starr were the winners. Now a new group of contestants will be racing across 40,000 miles and nine countries in 22 days. The Amazing Race 14 cast of 11 teams of two includes the first ever deaf contestant (at least in the US version… The Amazing Race Asia 2 winner included one deaf contestant), Harvard law graduates, a father who realized he was gay when his son (who is his teammate who is also gay) was 11, brothers who are stuntmen, former NFL cheerleaders, and at least one couple using this race as a way to prove their relationship (which never works).

The good news about midseason TAR: at least it’s starting on time (more often than it does in the fall anyway).

Teams will depart from the Joint Forces Training Base in Los Alimitos, CA, home to the CA national guard and army reserve.

The flight attendants believe their knowledge of airports will work to their advantage. Tammy, the sister in the brother/sister lawyer team, feels left out, probably because she usually is. Luke doesn’t even read lips, so he’ll need to communicate by using sign language. Linda & Steve realize they’re hicks. LaKisha & Jen were college athletes, which could come in handy, if only they can get past the fact that they have “issues.” Jennifer & Preston both want to be in charge, a disaster waiting to happen. Brad & Victoria say they’re in better shape than you may think. Mark and Michael, standing at 4’9″, stunt double children. Cara & Jaime are perfectly willing to be this season’s bitches. I hate them already.

From LAX, the teams will be heading to Switzerland on one of two flights.

First flight (via Zurich): Tammy & Victor, Christie & Jodi, Jaime & Cara, Mark & Michael, Brad & Victoria, Margie & Luke
Second flight (via Milan): Kisha & Jen, Mel & Mike, Amanda & Kris, Preston & Jennifer, Steve & Linda

The decision on which flight to pick seems relatively random. They’ll be taking the train to Locarno from the city they take the plane to. The train station in Zurich is right in the airport. Jennifer & Preston have already missed their train, not the best start. They’re also already fighting. On the way to Switzerland, Christie & Jodi meet a local who wants them to go with her, which they believe will save them 13 minutes.

With that and the fact that they’re in the first group, Christie & Jodi arrive first. That puts plane one ahead of plane two.

They must now head to the Church of San Antonio, where they will sign for departure times. For the night they will be camping out.

7:15 – Christie & Jodi, Tammy & Victor, Margie & Luke, Mark & Michael
7:30 – Brad & Victoria, Jaime & Cara, Mel & Mike (first from plane two)
7:45 – Kisha & Jen, Amanda & Kris, Steve & Linda, Preston & Jennifer

Steve’s already arguing with Linda for being too slow. And he keeps harping on it until she’s in tears.

Using the provided picture, teams must now race to the Verzasca Dam. Christie & Jodi struggle to get a cab, which allows Brad & Victoria to pass them. Jaime & Cara also struggle to get a cab, so the teams in last catch up to them.

At the dam is the road block, a 70 story bungee jump, the second highest in the world.

Road block (in order of arrival): Victor, Michael (I think), Luke, Mike, Victoria, Jodi, Kris, Jaime, Preston, Jen, Steve

The next stop is Interlaken via train. Tammy & Victor are trying to act sneaky (not overly convincingly) already, pretending they’re taking a train on the advice of some lady, a train that they claim may or may not be correct.

When another group arrives at the train station, Christie & Jodi opt for the earlier train, but Brad & Victoria take the one that leaves over an hour later but arrives earlier (but lie to Christie & Jodi and tell them they’ll take the earlier one). It’s unclear what train order anybody’s in.

Upon arrival, teams will join the local workforce, transporting 200 pounds of cheese downhill. The biggest trick appears to be to get these cheese holders to not break. Nobody is having any luck, and the result is cheese rolling down the hill and/or people falling down. Apparently, though, if the cheese rolls down the hill and you’re able to find it, it still counts. Logically, why not just fling the cheese down the hill and then run down? Mel just slides down the hill on his butt. On their second trek down, Luke & Margie follow his example, which puts them in the lead. Only a couple people in the first group are actually successfully able to use the cheese holders. All the remaining teams arrive after the first four are finished, and it looks like a fairly close race. The only exception is Christie & Jodi, who are on that train they just made by one minute, which was not the right train to take. Steve ain’t as dumb as he looks. Instead of trying to carry the cheese on his back, he ties his cheese to the wood and slides it down the hill, allowing him to take 150 pounds at once, while most people struggle with just 50, which should allow them to get up from their previous tenth place.

The pitstop for this leg of the race is Stechelberg. They’ll have to follow the sound of the yodelling.

First: Margie & Luke (win a trip to Puerto Vallarta)
Second: Tammy & Victor
Third: Mark & Michael
Fourth: Mel & Mike
Fifth: Amanda & Kris
Sixth: Brad & Victoria
Seventh: Jaime & Cara
Eighth: LaKisha & Jennifer
Ninth: Steve & Linda (after wandering around for a while)
Tenth: Christie & Jodi
Eliminated: Preston & Jennifer

In the mad dash to the finish, Christie & Jodi outrun Preston carrying Jennifer on his back, and Jennifer & Preston are eliminated. I’m not sure that Jennifer & Preston were necessarily the weakest link, although they did have more than their share of mistakes and bickering, but I’m glad to see Christie & Jodi weren’t eliminated just based on their train choice, as they are a fairly strong team.

Dollhouse Season 1 Episode 1

Joss Whedon and Eliza Dushku are together again. On Friday nights, which means they probably won’t be together for very long. Dushku and Whedon last worked together when she played slayer turned psycho on Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel.

Caroline’s in a room discussing how actions have consequences. Or do they?

From there we head to a motorcycle race, which she loses. She insists Matt, the guy who beat her, must be a cheater. Then they do some dancing, and she gets a ring before she hops in a van. She thinks she’s found something real and wants to go back to the party after her treatment.

She awakens from her treatment and is greeted as Echo. If only she remembered anything that happened previously. They were given the perfect weekend together, and apparently she’s living the dream. Someone’s dream anyway.

Davina is talking on the phone about wanting to sneak to watch a TV show. Just a normal day. Before she’s grabbed and put in a bag.

The kidnappers want $5 million in ransom. Her father Gabriel Crestejo doesn’t want to contact the police. Instead, he wants a negotiator, but not Rambo.

Echo injured her knee when she wiped out on the bike, and she’s having it looked at by Dr. Claire Saunders (Amy Acker, who played Fred on Angel). She doesn’t remember what fell on her. Then she goes for a walk to see another active, Sierra, being worked on, clearly in pain.

Agent Paul Ballard’s been working on Dollhouse for years, which most are not convinced even exists. The only way to imprint a human with a new personality is to take away their own. He thinks it’s pretty bad that these people basically may as well have been murdered. He’s instructed that Dollhouse is just a fairy tale, and he needs to stay out of the way.

Echo is assigned to the Crestejo case. She will facilitate the exchange as Eleanor. Gabriel’s worried that she’ll be a distraction, but she tells him she’s been doing this and only this and is the most qualified person for the job. As part of her new character, she’s nearsighted, as the neural connections to her eyesight have been messed with. Taking it a step further, she’s running from something in her past, and she has asthma.

Echo calls Mr. Sunshine, the kidnapper. They’re going to do things her way whether they want to or not. Oh, and they don’t want $5 million. She tells him he really wants $8 million, $2 million each (4 is the median number in these cases), then she hangs up.

As instructed, Sunshine calls back when asked to. He asks for $10 million. She hangs up again. He calls back and lets Davina talk to her father for a minute. They will be meeting tomorrow at noon. Afterward, it’s revealed that she was kidnapped as a child. She has flashes of her memory being erased, but just dismisses them.

Paul pulls a gun on a guy in the restroom asking him to say Dollhouse. He wants Victor to find out who’s connected to the Dollhouse.

Echo and Gabriel arrive at the rendezvous point with the money. She realizes something’s wrong and begins to have an asthma attack, informing Gabriel the kidnapper won’t give her back. So Gabriel goes toward the boat and is shot in the process. Echo’s handler is there to shoot Sunshine, but the boat gets away. It turns out the guy on the boat is the one who kidnapped Eleanor. She believes he will turn on the others and take the money for himself. If she’s able to find the man with the mask, she can find the ghost.

They head back to the dollhouse for another treatment. What happened at the dock happened to Eleanor… or the people she was made out of.

Her handler insists that Echo is the only one who can find the ghost, and that she should not have her mind wiped yet because she’s the only way they can find Davina. Adelle agrees to do as he asks, so that they can actually do some good.

Although Echo’s going, they don’t want her handler near the action again. Back at the dollhouse, Topher has done some research. The woman who was abused killed herself last year, never able to get away from her past. Echo is now suffering from that same fear. She warns the others that they’re going to be turned on, telling them they aren’t killers and should flee the country with the cash while they still can. She also tells them exactly where Davina is being held, in the fridge, because that’s where they’re always held. When these two guys begin to shoot each other over a disagreement how to deal with Eleanor, she goes into the other room to free Davina. The guy who believes her wins the gunfight and lets them go. Having heard shots, Sierra’s not quite so good with the talking, and she barges in to handle things her own way, shooting the guy who’s still left standing. The dolls grab the cash and the girl and leave.

In her college video yearbook, Echo said she wanted to do everything, and she’s gotten her wish.

Survivor: Tocantins Episode 1

Survivor is back for season 18, and the Survivor: Tocantins cast includes 16 new castaways competing for the $1 million prize. This year’s destination is Tocantins, a state in Brazil.

First impressions are already forming. Erinn says she loves Tyson. Tyson, meanwhile, thinks Erinn’s probably this season’s bitch. Stephen’s encouraged by the old lady Sandy, since it means he won’t be the first to go. And she thinks he’s like a geek. Sierra’s been sick. Already. She’s trying to hide it, but Ben (Coach) thinks she’s going to crumble.

The contestants have already been divided into tribes.

Jalapao (Red Tribe): Carolina, Joe, JT, Sandy, Spencer, Stephen, Sydney, Taj
Timbira (Black Tribe): Brendan, Candace, Coach, Debbie, Erinn, Jerry, Sierra, Tyson

The tribes will have 60 seconds to gather as much as they can from the truck, something they’ve hopefully been smart enough to think about on the ride there. Timbira got all the water and all the beans. The other tribe is apparently dumb. Probst gives them a map and a compass for the four hour trek through the 110 degree heat.

The first vote starts now. One person from each tribe is not going to make the journey. Hopefully this is not as lame as it could be.

Sandy’s got 5 votes, which is enough. She’s angry.

Sierra admits during the vote she’s got strep throat.

The way he worded it, I was expecting it wouldn’t be an immediate castoff like Wanda and Jonathan, and it’s not. While the others trek for four hours, these two get to take a helicopter to camp. Although they’re not out of the game, though, they do miss out on the first four hours of bonding.

Spencer’s the youngest contestant ever on Survivor. JT doesn’t mind the weather given his line of work as a cattle rancher, but he’s worried about fitting in with the people. Stephen doesn’t expect much from the good old southern boy.

Erinn went camping… in the 7th grade. Jerry just got back from a 12 month tour in Afghanistan with over 100 men under him, but he knows he doesn’t want to be in charge here. Coach, however, wants to be the leader, and he wants to make sure the real survivors survive. He approaches Brendan to tell him his plan of getting the strong to survive, but Brendan’s not so sure he wants a coach.

Upon arrival, the outcasts have a choice. They can either start setting up camp, or they can look for a hidden immunity idol to guarantee their safety on the first time to tribal council. Considering the two candidates, I’m not sure this matters too much if they get the idol. While it would make for an interesting first tribal, the second weakest link would probably take the fall, and then they’d just be dropped next time. Sandy goes for the idol. Sierra, however, knows she’s in the dog house, and wants to come up with some way of redeeming herself.

When her tribe arrives, Sandy hasn’t found the idol yet, but she’ll try again later. They ain’t happy that Sandy didn’t do anything.

Timbira’s still walking when the sun goes down, but they finally arrive, as Sierra’s working away. She has a shelter up already.

Later, Sandy buys herself some time by saying she’s going to look for something, and she manages to dig up… another clue (telling her there will be another clue). The tribe thinks she’s being antisocial while she’s away.

Tyson heads down to the water with a couple of the girls (the two young blondes), where he promptly takes off all his clothes.

In the first challenge, six members of the tribe will race across the sand hills to grab some puzzle planks, untie them, and return them to the start, where the two remaining tribe members will use those puzzle planks to build a staircase. Then any two tribe members will navigate a peg through a table maze to release the tribe flag. They’re playing for fire and immunity. Taj and Sandy will build the staircase for Jalapao; Sierra and Erinn will build the staircase for Timbira. Both tribes arrive at the raft about the same time. It’s still pretty close when they get back to the beach. Timbira works pretty well getting back to the start and gets back first. Carolina and Sydney drag behind for Jalapao. Sierra and Sandy, who nobody wanted, are now taking the lead on getting the puzzle planks done. Jalapao is done with the stairs first. Timbira completes their staircase, and Erinn and Brendan will try to catch up to Spencer and Sydney. Timbira manages to pass Jalapao to win immunity. Sandy better start digging for that idol. Sydney doesn’t want to vote for her… but doesn’t know who else to vote for either.

Taj warns Carolina that she needs to check herself and not get too opinionated.

Based on her performance in the challenge, Spencer doesn’t want to get rid of Sandy any more, unless everybody’s got their minds set on it. Carolina’s up for consideration, based on her lackluster performance and because people consider her bossy.

Carolina apologizes to Sandy for putting her down the previous day because she’s the old lady.

Sandy heads off again to try to find the lone palm tree, which kinda stands out.

At tribal council, Sandy’s lack of work at camp becomes a problem. She knows she’s the old lady no matter what, but she hopes she can fit into the tribe with a bunch of kids. Carolina realizes she’s direct and a little whiny.

Joanna Pacitti Disqualified from American Idol

Joanna Pacitti, who gained early notoriety on American Idol this season for her list of professional experience, made the top 36 thanks to her strong voice, despite forgetting the words to all of her songs in Hollywood. But that was yesterday.

Today, the American Idol producers have decided that “It has been determined that Joanna Pacitti is ineligible to continue in the competition.” Felicia Barton, who was cut in a vote that was not unanimous, will be taking Pacitti’s place.

No additional information was available, but reportedly, the reason for Joanna’s departure is the result of her close relationships with executives at 19 Management, the company that manages the winner of American Idol.

Lost Season 5 Episode 5

We found out that Jin is still alive in Lost Season 5 Episode 4.

Sun tells her daughter Ji Yeon she met a friend for her in America. When she gets off the phone, she pulls out a gun and points it at Ben, who tells her Jin’s not dead.

Jin’s back in 1988. The French people ask him about a radio tower on the island. He says yes, and that he knows where his camp is from there. On their way, one of their group disappears. Then Jin hears a monster. They found their missing partner. Falling from the sky. Now they may wish to listen to Jin that there’s a monster. The monster snags another victim, but they dash to save him. It’s too late since he’s missing a limb, but they don’t want to leave anyone behind. Jin insists that, at least the pregnant woman should not go dashing in. A flash follows, and Jin’s alone. He sees an arm that looks like it’s been there for quite some time on the ground. Upon arrival at camp, he sees some remnants of it but no living people. There are a couple dead bodies, however. Then he finds Danielle holding a gun on Robert, the guy she was with. Robert begs her not to shoot him, then pulls out a gun on her. Fortunately, his gun has no bullets, giving her the chance to get rid of him before he gets rid of her. Jin is forced to run away when she start shooting at him. As he’s running, there’s another flash. Now another person is holding a gun at him. This time it’s Sawyer.

Jin wants somebody to translate what’s going on. Miles can’t since he’s from Encino, but Jin knows Charlotte can. He wants to know how he’s sure his wife is off the island. Locke says he’s sure, but it won’t matter if they don’t make it to the Orchid. They need to bring Sun back because she never should have left.

Ben wants to take Sun to someone in LA to get proof that Jin is alive. It’s the same person who’s going to take them back to the island. Kate and Sayid aren’t pleased by this news and run away. Ben asks for just 30 minutes, which is enough to convince Sun to finally drop her weapon.

Time for another flash. Then another. Charlotte collapses and warns Jin to not let them bring Sun back, no matter what.

Jack apologizes to Sun for leaving Jin behind. Also, he’s not any more happy with Ben than Sun is.

Juliet and Sawyer have been hit by nosebleeds as well. Sawyer wants to bail, but Daniel doesn’t want to leave Charlotte behind. Then there’s another flash. The others decide to go, but Dan is staying behind with her. Sawyer asks what happens if the Orchid isn’t even around any more, and Charlotte tells him to look for the well.

They arrive at the Orchid. Juliet asks: what are the odds they’d end up at the same time as it? So then there’s another flash. And no Orchid. Locke looks for the well.

Charlotte tells Daniel she’s been there before. She grew up on the island but left when she was young. Her mom always told her that it wasn’t real. When she left the island, a man warned her that, if she ever came back, she would die. That man was Daniel.

Locke wants to go down the well, but Jin doesn’t want him to bring Sun back. He promises not to bring her back, so Jin allows him to go. As proof that he’s dead, Jin gives his wedding ring to Locke. He begins his descent, and there’s another flash. Locke falls to the bottom, but the others are in a time when there is no well.

Daniel believes that his mother can and will help them, which he’d better be right about since Charlotte has died.

Locke tries yelling, but the people he was with obviously aren’t going to answer. Then he hears some footsteps, belonging to Christian, who tells him that he should have been the one to move the island as instructed. When he arrives in LA, he’s to gather all the people who left the island, convince them to join him, and Eloise Hawking will get them back to the island. As Richard said, he’s going to have to die.

Ben gives Sun the wedding ring, which he got from Locke. They’re at the church to meet with a woman who can help them get back to the island. Sun agrees to go with him. Desmond’s also there, looking for Faraday’s mother. She doesn’t like that the others are missing, but this group will have to do for now.

Stay tuned to dingoRUE for another live recap of Lost Season 5 Episode 6 316, which airs Wednesday at 9/8c on ABC.

American Idol Season 8 Episode 11

Last night was more Hollywood in American Idol 8 Episode 10. 1 of the 4 rooms were sent home, mostly people we never heard of before except for Michael Castro, India Morrison, and Leneshe Young.

Tonight, the final 54 will be heading to the judges’ mansion and will be weeded down to the top 36. For some reason, although last night and many of the previous nights this season felt rushed (were New York and San Juan really so useless as to be packed together into 1 hour?), tonight’s episode will be filler full and two hours long. The twist this year is that some of them will have to sing for their lives.

Anoop Desai makes it through.

Von Smith (who Simon called the self indulgent child) decided on the final day of Hollywood to not listen to his family, which was the right move and enough to convince the judges to let him into the top 36.

Cody Sheldon, the horror film maker, will be singing one more time. Cody sings Love Never Remains the Same by Gavin Rossdale. Alex Wagner-Trugamn will be in the sing off against him. Alex sings Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me, which Clay Aiken covered a few years back. Alex will be advancing, not suprising considering the sing off. Randy tells Cody to come back next year.

Adam Lambert’s one of the singers with professional experience, but his experience is in the theater, which the judges haven’t been sure is what they’re looking for. Adam is through to the next round.

Taylor Vaifanua has gone from regular high school student to would be American Idol singer. She goes through to the next round.

Jamine Murray is also through, as are Arianna Afsar, Casey Carlson, Megan Corkrey, Mishavonna Henson, and Stevie Wright. Yeah, we didn’t need to see any of those six for more than a couple seconds.

Joanna Pacitti is without a doubt the most established American Idol singer in history, having already been given multiple chances to be a professional singer, with her last ending when she was dropped by her record label just over a year ago. Despite her experience, she forgot her words in every song in Hollywood week. She has made the top 36, but the judges tell her now is the time to finally bring it.

TK Hash has been cut, as have Chris Chatham, and Reggie Beasley.

Kendall Beard, the blonde who auditioned in Puerto Rico, makes it through.

Jenn Korbee auditioned with her husband Tom, but he was cut in Hollywood. She will be in another sing off, and she sings Not Ready to Make Nice by the Dixie Chicks. The other half of this sing off is Kristen McNamara, who had to deal with Nancy Wilson on group day. She sings I Will Always Love You, made famous by Whitney Houston. Simon asks: do you want to keep the very attractive blonde girl or the other one? Kara suggests just having a bunch of models come on the show, which may well be Simon’s next show, as he seems to like the idea. The judges say that Jenn made the wrong song choice despite being a pretty girl. Kristen’s told she has a strong voice but needs an image makeover. She will be going through to the next round, although Simon’s not happy about it. Don’t worry, Simon, it won’t take much work to turn her into a cute blonde.

Alexis Grace will have to spend time away from her young daughter sinces he is going through.

Scott MacIntyre is also going through.

Lil Rounds, mother of three, hopes this will put her and her kids in a good place. She advances to the next round.

Felicia Barton (not unanimously), Ashley Hollister, and Devon Baldwin are cut.

Frankie Jordan is in the next sing off. She sings The Story by Brandi Carlile, which the judges say has made it easier. Jesse Langseth sings against her, singing a song that Simon calls horrible. Simon suggests not picking either of them. Both of the songs are odd because they were songs for survival but were not songs that really showed what they can do. Jesse advances. Simon offers Frankie a consolation: she wouldn’t have won anyway. And Jesse, she has no chance either.

Shera Lawrence and Derik Lavers are the next to be cut.

Allison Iraheta got off to a rough start but shined in Hollywood. She is going through.

Jamar Rogers and Danny Gokey are back together again (and again and again). Danny is up first and advances. Jamar follows him but gets bad news, as he’s told the risks he took in Hollywood didn’t pay off.

Ricky Braddy, Matt Giraud, Ju’not Joyner, Jorge Nunez, and Brent Keith are going through.

Stephen Fowler thinks he was doing excellent until the last day of Hollywood. Despite the huge blunder that day, he will be going through.

Nick Mitchell is himself today, hopefully done being that stupid Norman Gentle character that got old quickly. Simon wants to change the mind of the others, but he’s outvoted, with Nick/Norman advancing.

Jackie Tohn goes through to the next round.

Following Jackie’s comparatively mild outburst of celebration, we’re now stuck dealing with Tatiana del Toro again. Simon’s annoyed from the second she walks in the room and asks her to try for once to not be annoying. In a not unanimous decision, she’s going to be around to annoy us even more. Hopefully Ryan Seacrest is not deaf after having this chick scream in his ear.

Jackie Midkiff will be in another sing off. He sings Michael Bolton’s When a Man Loves a Woman. Kara asks: why is he in this position since he’s so good? Nathaniel Marshall tells the story of why he’s so over the top emotional. He’s been bounced from relative to relative since his mom was in prison. He sings I’m Already There by Lonestar. Nathaniel will be advancing. Based on this sing off?

Jeanine Vailes advances (not unanimously), as do Kai Kalama, Anne Marie Boskovich, and Kris Allen.

The welder and the roughneck will be going up against each other. Matt Breitzke sings Satisfied by Ian Moore. Simon doesn’t like the song. Michael Sarver is up next. Simon likes both of them but is not sure either of them could win. They should both advance, and they both do.
