Project Runway Winner: Jeffrey!

I didn’t get to watch the show because Canada SUCKS! and Project Runway runs a week behind up here. I did, however, watch the Live Blog over at TVgasm, which I have to say, was a friggin’ riot, and, of course, Jeffrey won Project Runway!I can’t believe Jeffrey won Project Runway. Yay! He’s been my fav, as much as everyone else has absolutely hated him.

Because I couldn’t watch the show, I can’t offer a recap other than the fact that it came down to Michael 4th, Laura 3rd, Uli 2nd and Jeffrey 1st, the winner of project runway.

Vancouver Circle Craft Fair

It’s that time of year again! We are quickly approaching Christmas and the hostile shopping missions have already begun for many, meaning only one thing: the Vancouver Circle Craft fair is about due to kick off again!

I’ve attended the Circle Craft Fair in Vancouver a number of times over the past three years and it has been fantastic each and every time. The number and quality of vendors seems to improve every year, while the admission fee some how manages to stay the same. The Circle Craft Fair is held in Vancouver’s Convention and Exhibition Centre every year and the fair is coming close to out growing the space. This year the circle craft fair features more than 260 artisans, vendors and booths of every shape, size and description, showcasing the works of crafters from across Canada.

Vancouver Deal of the Day

I have decided to take it upon myself to feature a Vancouver Deal (V.D. – ha!) as often as possible. Now, I know the title says Vancouver Deal of the Day, but I don’t know if I’ll be able to find something worth sharing everyday, so if it turns out to be more along the lines of a Vancouver Deal of the Week, don’t hate me for it, too much at least. Now, enough chit-chat, let’s get onto today’s:

Amazing Race All-Stars

Rumor has it the producers and people behind CBS’ hit reality TV series the Amazing Race are already developing and creating a new concept for the 11th installment of the reality TV series. Apparently the newest concept cooked up by Amazing Race producers is to go with the All-Stars edition. This doesn’t come as much surprise to me to be honest, as they are currently on the 10th season of the show and have ample teams to choose from to create an All-Stars edition. After all, if Big Brother and Survivor can get away with it, why no the Amazing Race?

Now, I can’t even begin to make an informed guess as to what teams would be featured in an Amazing Race All-Stars edition, the current season is actually the first time I’ve got back into Amazing Race since the very first season. One thing goes for sure though, is that you can almost gaurantee Rob & Amber will be in an Amazing Race All-Stars edition. They are by far the most popular, for better or worse, winners of the Amazing Race. I personally can’t stand either of them and they both annoy the hell out of me, but they’ve generate more attention for the Amazing Race than any other competing team.

Shooting for Amazing Race All-Stars is set to kick off next month and, thus far, the only teams that are some-what known to have agreed to participate are Colin and Christie, and Mirna and Schmirna, which, of course, means nothing to me since I don’t recognize either team.

Stay tuned for more Amazing Race Info!

Hell’s Kitchen 3: Do You Have What It Takes?

Do you think you have what it takes to be the next superstar chef? Do you think you can deal with chef Gordon Ramsay? Are you willing to be burnt, cut, abused, screamed at, degraded and insulted? Then you may have what it takes to be the winner of Hell’s Kitchen 3.

The Chef Gordon Ramsay run smash hit reality TV series Hell’s Kitchen is coming back to Fox for a third season and they’re looking for the next set of Hell’s Kitchen hopefulls now. Do you have what it takes?

I personally really enjoy cooking and experimenting in the kitchen, but I also know I’d cry like a 2-year old that fell down the stairs if I had to deal with Chef Gordon Ramsay, but that’s just me. Maybw you think you can do better? Maybe you think you can be the next Hell’s Kitchen superstar chef. Well the maybe you should hit a Hell’s Kitchen 3 casting call and prove it!

Hell’s Kitchen Season 3 is looking for new contestants and if you think you have the skills to stand apart from the others and the balls to stand up to Gordon Ramsay, give it a shot and visit: http://www.fox.com/hellskitchen/showinfo/casting.htm

Vancouver Concerts: Nim Vind, Oct 28th @ the Media Room

One of my absolute favorite local Vancouver bands is finally having another show, and it’s a halloween show! Vancouver crooner/goth rocker/psychobilly/rockabilly group Nim Vind is putting on a show at the intimate the Media Club on October 28th.

Nim Vind has recently been touring the US and UK with their other band, The Vincent Blackshadow, so they haven’t performed a Vancouver show since St. Paddy’s day at the Media Room, where they actually performed with The Vincent Blackshadow. The St. Paddy’s day show was fantastic. The entire night was a blur of black clothes, sexy voices and green beer, the perfect kind of show for the Media Room.

Even though Chrys will be gone, I know I’ll be finding my way to this concert. Nim Vind, formerly known as Mr. Underhill, has been around the Vancouver scene for many years now, has travelled the US a few times and even recently returned from a hugely successful tour of Germany. It is well worth whatever little cover charge there will be to see a band this awesome in a venue as small and intimate as the Media Club.

Who: Big John Bates and the Voodoo Dollz w/ Nim Vind and The Starboys
What: Stairway to Hell Halloween Party
Where: The Media Club, 695 Cambie St.
When: October 28th @ 8:00pm
Why: Because it’s Halloween time, and what better way to celebrate than with Burlesque, Goth Rockers and Crooners? After all, they live Halloween everyday.
Cover: $10 at Zulu, Scratch, Red Cat & Online or $13 at the door

Vancouver Coupons and Deals

If you’re like me, which would be defined roughly as: living on a fixed income, relying on a single income to pay for everything and living in Vancouver, then you know there isn’t a great deal that can be done in this city without forking over some dough. Although, there are always ways around having to pay, at the very least, there are ways around having to pay full price.

To be quite honest, I used to be ashamed to use coupons, or to ask for deals or to wait to buy things when they’re on sale, or to buy second hand, but living in the great city of Vancouver on a limited budget isn’t an easy thing to do, especially when you have a lovely wife you really want to take out to dinner and get out of the house. So now, not only have I overcome my feelings about using coupons and asking for deals, I’ve come to embrace them and have spent a fair share of time digging for good deals.

I’m not much of a coupon clipper for grocery shopping, since I shop at IGA (because it’s close to home and convenient, not because it’s cheap, by any definition of the word) and since IGA doesn’t usually put flyers out, Chrys and I usually do the sale tag hunt when shopping. However, when it comes to getting coupons, discounts and deals at Vancouver restaurants, I’ve got a nice little list of places to hit up. These sites have a tendency of dictating where we go for dinner when we go out. Not only do we save a lot of money with these coupons, it gets us to explore and try different things a little more often, which, on most occasions, turns out for the best. But enough of the vancouver coupons and deals chatter, I’ll get to the point:

Vancouver Coupons, Discounts, Deals & Sales

Enjoy! And if you know of any sites for Vancouver Coupons or Vancouver Deals, please let me know and I’ll add them to the list above, as well as my personal list.

Starbucks Tests a New Market?

I seriously hope this is a joke, because it really is absurd, though I wouldn’t put it past the folks at Starbucks by any means.

starbucks inhaler

Instead of spending $5 of a terrible tasting coffee to get your morning caffeine buzz Starbucks is hoping to offer a new product to get you high. Now you can pull this little lovely out of your pocket and take a hit that “Delivers a grande sized burst of caffeine with each blast while making your breath minty fresh,” accordingly to Tom Sherman, at least. If all goes well you’ll be able to get that much needed caffeine high without having to drink the filth that starbucks manages to pass off as coffee.

This is certainly an interesting idea, and I doubt it’s real or, if it is, will be passed or become popular at all, but just look at it. I mean, really now, who thinks of this shit? Isn’t having thousands of locations across North American and brining in millions, if not billions of dollars every year through coffee sales not enough? How long until we start seeing the Starbucks caffeine patch in all the drug stores for those recovering caffeine adicts.
