Tonight’s episode of Survivor Cook Islands kicks off with both teams receiving an interesting piece of treemail. Not only did the mail include the usual letter, but it also included a catalog of various different items, ranging from peanut butter to a sewing kit. It turns out the winner of tonight’s reward challenge gets to go home with two items of their choosing from the catalog. Naturally, both teams are thinking foods, thinking energy and thinking carbs. One team chooses peanut butter and bread, while the other chooses peanut butter and potatoes. Maybe not the best combo, but definitely a good source of protein and carbs, which mean energy, something every survivor needs.
Survivor Cook Islands Reward Challenge
- Each tribe picks 3 swimmers and 2 puzzle builders
- Each swimmer swim to a platform in the middle of the water carrying a club
- Once out of the water and on top of the platform the swimmer jumps off, hitting a box suspended over the water
- Each box contains a key that the swimmer must then collect and return to the beach
- Once all 6 keys are returned to the beach the 2 puzzle builders unlock 6 chests
- Each chest contains puzzles pieces that the 2 puzzle builders must assemble
- Reward: The two items selected from the catalog prior to the challenge
Aitu is forced to sit out 3 tribe members as they have to many. They elect to sit Nate out, after abducting him from Raro, eliminating from helping Aitu, but also preventing him from sabotaging them and keeping him from helping Raro.
Rebecca swims out, breaks a box and gives up on finding the key, swimming back slowly and empty handed. By the time she reaches the beach she is exhausted and does not swim again for the entire challenge. Right off the bat Raro is way behind.
Towards the end, Adam and Parvati are running the show for Raro and manage to make up a lot of ground, putting them behind by only one key.
Alas, all was for not as Ozzy the super swimmer made 3 runs, brought back the final key and, by the time Raro had returned to the beach with the final key Aitu had completed assembling their puzzle.
Aitu wins the reward challenge and takes home some yummy peanut butter and a sack of potatoes. Yay energy foods.
Once the challenge is over Nate returns to Raro and Aitu elects to send Adam to exile island.
Back at Raro Rebecca is blaming herself for the loss as she put the team far behind right off the bat, but no one is biting and takes to blaming Brad instead, as he elected to be a puzzle assembler when he is one of the teams best swimmers. Still no excuse for how much Rebecca sucked.
At exile island Adam talks about doubting the strength of his tribe because they’ve been losing so much as he assembles a make shift shelter and hunkers down for a really bad storm. By far, Adam had the worst time yet at exile island. A bad storm came in hard and pelted him with rain all night long. I actually felt sorry for the guy, it looked rough.
Back at Aitu beach, Ozzy strolls into camp on the way home from using the crapper with a boobie in his hands. Now, I’m sure its not the first time Ozzy has had boobie in his hands, but it’s probably the first time he was intending to kill it and eat it. He had to get Yul out of the shelter to ring/break the nexck of the boobie so they could eat it for dinner. Ozzy has without a doubt sealed his position as the provider, which could work for him or against him. Luckily, he realized his predicament and takes to Jessica and Candice to try and stir up an alliance to take out Jonathan. Everyone sees Jonathan as a threat and no one trusts him… still. Personally, his eyes just creep me out. They’re so bright it’s like they’re eating your soul; like a blue version of Vin Diesel’s eyes in Pitch Black.
Survivor Cook Islands Immunity Challenge
- Race to arrange logs in order of smallest to longest
- Insert logs into holes to create a set of tapered stairs
- All tribe members climb to the top of the stairs and on to a platform
- 3 tribe members zip cord to a platform in the water, one by one, grabbing and swimming back with a bag of puzzle pieces (sounds kind of similar to the reward challenge earlier, no? I think they’re running out of ideas)
- Once all puzzle pieces are return and on the top platform, the remaining 3 tribes members assemble the puzzle
Aitu is forced to sit 1 tribe member out and they elect to sit out Jonathan. Good choice.
Aitu is first to assemble their stairs, get to the top platform and zip cord out to the puzzle pieces, taking a fairly slight lead over Raro.
Once Raro is on the go Parvati decides to walk back to the shore instead of swimming, losing Raro a ton of time, yet again. They really have issues with swimming today.
Aitu is the first tribe to have all the puzzles pieces back on land and to start assembling the puzzle. Somehow Raro managed to catch up fairly well and both teams end up neck and neck working on the puzzle. Aitu seems to have a little difficulty with the puzzle, but Jenny burns through the puzzle like mad and with an incredible comeback, wins immunity for Raro! I couldn’t believe how quickly she through that puzzle away. She blew Aitu out of the water (pun intended).
Back at Aitu the Jonathan bashing is in full force and it’s starting to sound like he’s the one getting the boot, but you can never know that until tribal council. Speaking of which:
Survivor Cook Islands Tribal Council
Shown Votes:
- Jonathan votes for Jessica (Flicka)
- Jessica votes for Jonathan
Unrevealed Votes:
- Jonathan
- Jessica
- Jessica
- Jessica
- Jessica
- not shown
Seemingly out of no where, Jessica gets nailed. She was the original target at the start of the episode, but things seemed to take a quick turn to nailing Jonathan. Like I said, you never know until tribal council is over and done with and the votes are gone.
I’m undecided on whether or not I care about Jessica leaving, she seemed cool at first, but she had a crap strategy for the game and wasn’t going to win it anyways. I’m not heart broken, but I would have preferred to see Jonathan go home. Maybe next time I’ll get my wish.
