Firefox 2.0 Released Tomorrow

Posted by soultrance on Monday, October 23, 2006 at 11:46 pm

Tomorrow marks yet another big day in the lifespan of Mozilla’s premeire browser, Firefox. The full version of Firefox 2.0 is scheduled to be released by Mozilla mid-afternoon tomorrow, although the full version has already been leaked on numerous sites tonight, to which I won’t post a link as Mozilla has request that people not release the downloads yet and, since Mozilla is behind the awesomeness that is Firefox, I am cool with that.

Firefox has proven itself as browser of far superior innovation and power to that of Microsofts Internet Explorer. The folks at Mozilla update Firefox on a very regular basis and address any and all security issues promptly. Whereas the fools over at MS are more concerned with sticking to a monthly update release schedule than protecting their customers security.

Firefox is my browser of choice and is by and far the best browser available today, and it’s completely free! Don’t forget to download Firefox 2.0 tomorrow.

China to regulate blogging, more so

Posted by soultrance on Monday, October 23, 2006 at 11:22 pm

The Internet Society of China has recommended to the government that all bloggers be required to register their blogs with their full, legal names, not screen names. Thought they would be allowed to blog under their desired screen names, they would be forced to register their blogs with their real names, giving the government of China all the information they need to go after a blogger that talks about something they don’t want them to talk about.

“The Internet Society of China has recommended to the government that bloggers be required to use their real names when they register blogs, state media said on Monday, in the latest attempt to regulate free-wheeling Web content.”

Heaven forbid the internet be about freedom and be used as a medium for expression and sharing of information, why that would mean the end of civilization as we know it.

Its hard to imagine what life in a country like China would be like. So many liberties and freedoms are witheld from the people, supposedly for their own good. People complain about living in Canada and the US all the time, but compared to countries like China, we’ve got it great. All I can hope for is that it stays this way, but with the governments and Canada and the US being controlled by crazy conservatives, who knows where we could be headed.

Weird Vancouver Sightings

Posted by soultrance on Monday, October 23, 2006 at 10:57 am

I could have been suffering from delusions as a result of not yet having my morning Americano, but I saw the weirdest thing while walking down W 10th to the bus this morning. I could have sworn that I passed Kim Jong-Il walking a shitzu. I had to do a double take to be sure, but I swear it was him. Maybe he’s hiding out in Vancouver now?

I never would have pegged Kim Jong-Il as a Shitzu person, but the more I got to thinking about it while on the bus (yeah, this is what I do in the morning), the more it made sense. The Shitzu is such an ass backwards inbred breed of dog that it would likely be one of the few things to survive a nuclear explosion. What else would Kim Jong-Il look for in a good pet? Its smaller than him, uglier than him and would survive a nuke. Sounds like a pretty reasonable choice to me.

Maybe he’s got more in common with Paris Hilton then one would think?

Amazing Race 10 Recap: Peter & Sarah Eliminated

Posted by soultrance on Sunday, October 22, 2006 at 10:31 pm

Tonight’s episode of the Amazing Race kicks off with free cellphones and a trip to a mystery location in Kuwait City. All teams mustfind a travel agency, get plane tickets to Kuwait City, fly to Kuwait, hop in a marked car and try to located the mystery location. All each team is given to find the mystery location is a picture on the new camera phone they just received.

Peter and Sarah are the first to get to a travel agency and notice that the agency just happens to have some computers for use. They hop on one of the computers and, through a bit of searching, find out that the mystery location is the Kuwait Towers in Kuwait City.

Though each team started this leg of the race at different times and got to the travel agency at different times, they all managed to get booked on the exact same flight from Mumbai to Kuwait. Nturally, the teams that thought they had a decent lead were none to happy to get on their plane and find all the other teams right there with them.

Once all the teams land in Kuwait City they hop in their marked cars and begin the search for the Kuwait Towers. Amazingly enough every team manages to find the towers relatively easily. Once at the towers, each team had to pull a number off a sign on the wall and wait for the tower to open before starting the challenge. But this wasn’t your usual Amazing Race challenge, this challenge was a little different, and had a few more options then usual.

Miss An Episode of Heroes? Catch It Tonight!

Posted by soultrance on Sunday, October 22, 2006 at 3:12 pm

If you happen to be one of those people that missed one of the first three episodes of the best show on TV, Heroes, tonight is your oppertunity to get caught up. NBC will be running the first three episodes of it’s hit TV series Heroes tonight, starting at 8:00pm PST.

If you haven’t watch a single episode of Heroes yet, I highly recommend watching tonight. My TV is usually limited to mostly reality TV, but this show as completely sucked me in and I love it. The characters are fantastic, the story line is awesome and every episode leaves you wanting more. It’s one of the few TV shows in recent years to actually grab my attention. Someone, who I wish I could recall at the moment but can’t, put it best saying that Heroes is like how X-Men should have been.

Watch episodes 1 - 3 of NBC’s Heroes TONIGHT! Starting at 8:00pm PST.

Check your local listings for details.

Steve Irwin Crocodile Hunter Meets His Match

Posted by soultrance on Friday, October 20, 2006 at 9:43 pm

Fearless Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin (RIP), meets his match in Jay Leno’s Ross the Intern. This is one of the funniest video’s I’ve seen in a long time. The way Steve reacts to the way Ross acts is just to funny, and the part where Steve says “sweetheart, hold your ground. Uh, I mean, mate.” is priceless.

One Hot Ride

Posted by soultrance on Friday, October 20, 2006 at 9:29 pm

We’re not sure if its possible to confirm such a claim, but this 1972 Vauxhall Victor is at least in the running to be the quickest street-legal car in the world. Zero to 60 in one second, a 7.8-second quarter-mile in 183 mph and 2200 ponies in the ranch are the stats backing up that statement. Also, there’s the matter of nitrous, twin turbos and plenty of stickers. That is naughty. [Thanks to Joshua for the tip.] – Mike Spinelli

That is one of the coolest cars and stories ever. O-to-60 in 1 second, you gotta be kidding me. 2200 horse power, crazy. The guy put it all together for around 100GBP and its got more power and speed than a Bugati Veyron, which has insane power and costs over $2-million. Not to mention, it’s street legal. Too cool.

Survivor Cook Islands Recap: Double Elimination

Posted by soultrance on Thursday, October 19, 2006 at 11:21 pm

Tonight’s episode of Survivor Cook Islands started off with Adam and Christina getting into a bit of a fight, of sorts. Apparently Christina doesn’t like to be called annoying or bitched about by everyone without her knowing it. I wonder why.Over at Raro Playboy Foursome star Ozzy is fishing up a storm, catching a boat load, as usual. Jon is in his usual seat on the boat playing the fish holder boy. It also comes out that Jon is feeling threatened and sees Ozzy as the biggest threat in Raro. Duh!

Back at Aitu Cao Boi gets into it with everyone, again. This time it’s because he wants to bring the immunity idol to the reward challenge, even though it’s not needed. Apparently he has some kind of weird attachment to it and the spirit it represents and thinks it would be good to bring it every where they go. Jon confronts him and tells him no, cause it’ll be like rubbing it in the other teams face and Cao Boi ends up giving up.

Survivor Cook Islands Reward Challenge

Tonight’s reward challenge is a special one and comes with an interesting twist. The winning team will get to chow down on lamb shanks, bread and apple cider, but will also have to go to tribal council and vote one of their tribe members off the island. But, in another twist of good news, they wll get to chow down on their food while sitting in the jury section, listening in to the other tribes tribal council. Now, on to the reward challenge:

  • Each tribe must select 3 of its members to hold on to a post as hard as they can
  • The remaining members of each tribe then attack the person on the post of the opposite tribe in groups of two, trying to pull them off the post and drag them over the finish line

Becky and Jessica latch on to Jenny and manage to pull her off her post and across the finish line first. While Parvati and Rebecca have a heck of a time getting Candice off her post and over the line. She fights back hard and raro ends up losing a lot of time. Nate is the second to be pulled from his post and dragged across the finish line, while the other team finally manages to get Candice across the finish line. Quickly making up ground are Adam and Brad as they manage to pull ozzy off his post and across the line fairly quickly, but not quick enough, as Becky and Jessica get Christina across the line and win it all for Aitu!

Back at Aitu Cao Boi wakes up and tells Yul about some crazy dream he had. Cao Boi’s dream gave him an idea, an idea on how to really mix things up in Aitu. Cao Boi’s “voodoo” plan is to get the tribe to split the votes, 3 for jonathan, 3 for someone else, in the hopes of sucking the hidden immunity idol out of Jonathan. Only problem is, Jonathan didn’t find the idol, Yul did, so naturally, Yul loves the idea.

Back at Raro Nate catches another octopus and Christina is chatting it up with everyone, trying to earn herself a second chance. After working on nate a little, he heads over to chat with Sundra and they consider keeping Christina around. It also comes out that the girls in general don’t seem to like Jonathan and they all seem to get a kind of untrustworthy creepy vibe from him. That’s no surprise, just look at his eyes.

Aitu Tribal Council

Cao Boi decides to bring the immunity idol to tribal council and it starts an entire line of questions from Jeff Probst. The whole Q&A portion is pretty much taken up by talking about Cao Boi and Jonathan.

Revealed Votes

  • Jonathan votes for Cao Boi
  • Jessica votes for Jonathan
  • Cao Boi votes for Candice

Final Votes

  1. Cao Boi
  2. Candice
  3. Jonathan
  4. Cao Boi
  5. Cao Boi
  6. Cao Boi

Cao Boi is eliminated from the Aitu tribe!

The remaining Aitu tribe members file over to the Jury section and sit down to enjoy their lamb, bread and apple cider as the Raro tribe members enter tribal council to vote off one of their tribe members.

Raro Tribal Council

And before the votes are cast, Jeff Probst reveals yet another twist. The winning members of Aitu get to pick one person from the Raro tribe to kidnap and have join their tribe until the end of the next reward challenge. Making the right choice protects the person from being eliminated and adds more strength to the Aitu tribe for the next reward challenge.

Revealed Votes

Adam votes for Christina
Brad votes for Jenny

Final Votes

  1. Jenny
  2. Christina
  3. Jenny
  4. Christina
  5. Christina
  6. Christina

All of Christina’s begging and pleading wasn’t enough and she ends up the second person voted off Survivor Cook Islands in tonight’s episode.

Stay tuned until next week for another Survivor Cook Islands Recap! While you’re waiting for the next episode of Survivor Cook Islands, check out some of the other reality TV recaps offered by dingoRUE.com: Amazing Race 10 Recaps & Info and Biggest Loser Recaps & Info

Biggest Loser Recap: Amy Eliminated!

Posted by soultrance on Wednesday, October 18, 2006 at 11:53 pm

In an interesting turn that proved to be a challenge for the Biggest Loser competitors, the gym was completely closed for this weeks episode, though that didn’t keep bobby from jarring the window open and trying to crawl through. Too bad Bob and Kim came running down the road just then, catching him in the act and telling him, and everyone else, that this week’s episode of the Biggest Loser would be gym free. How interesting!

So, with the gym closed, the biggest loser blue team, led by trainer Bob, takes to the outdoors for their workout. Meanwhile, the red team, led by trainer Kim, takes to the indoors and works the stairs for all their good. Kim tells everyone on the team that she’s amazed how much of a difference she can now see in everyone. Everyone, blue and red team alike, are looking great, and Kim is now seeing it in her red team. If that wasn’t enough of a pick-me-up for the red team, Pam manages to get herself into a size LARGE shirt quite comfortably. She hasn’t been able to wear a large, or anything that doesn’t include the work Extra for a long time and she is super excited and, thankfully enough, the other members of her team are excited too.

While training the blue team outdoors, Bob notices that something seems to be holing Erik back and tries to give him a pep talk. Bob really focuses in on getting Erik’s mind cleared and getting him focused on working hard and dropping the pounds. It even looks like it may have worked.

Biggest Loser Club at Home Contestant

Linda, from Idaho, was one of the oldest people to try out for Biggest Loser at more than 50 years of age. Don’t be fooled though, Linda didn’t let her age get her down. She came to the ranch weighing 214lbs and now weighs 167lbs, for a total weight loss of 47lbs. That’s fantastic for anyone, especially someone more that 50 years old! The older you get, the harder it is to lose weight, but she still managed to kick some ass. Fantastic work Linda!
