Rock Star Supernova Update

Posted by soultrance on Tuesday, August 29, 2006 at 11:11 pm

The show starts out recaping the Monday, August 28th Rock Star Supernova show.

And then the rockers take to the stage, one by one, to sing songs picked for them by Rock Star Supernova MSN votes in a Viewer’s Song Choice Show.

Performances:

Lukas sang “Lithium” by Nirvana. It was a slightly different arrangement then usual, but Jason Newsted was loving it from the get go. Both Dave Navarro and Tommy Lee loved it and thought Lukas rocked it out. Gilby Clarke said it was his “best performance yet”, while Jason added “Dynamite! Freakin’ Dynamite!”

My Thoughts: All in all it was pretty good. Considering he doesn’t even like the song, I was thinking he would blow it utterly, but he did fairly well. Interesting tid bit, it’s apparently be floating around the net today that Lukas is the winner of the show. Interesting, No?

Magni sang “I Alone” by Live and Tommy Lee is digging it right off the bat, busting out the air drums and rocking out. Magni made his way into and through the crowd and emerged beside the members of Supernova after being mauled by lusty female fans. Dave Navarro said “killer dude, awesome job!” and Gilby Clarke loved it, saying it had that “extra something” special that his performances have been missing. Jason Newsted even gave him a standing o.

My Thoughts: He absolutely rocked it! I loved this performance. This is a fantastic song and he did the perfect job, great performance too. Good work Magni.

Ryan sings “Clocks” by Coldplay and cleverly, or weakly, depends on how you look at it, avoided all of the high notes and high register vocals, which is basically the entire song. Dave said it was “killer dude”, Jason said he’s more suited for behind the pain than being a frontman and Gilby said it was a great performance.

My Thoughts: Two words for this one… Utter Crap! This was a terrible performance and Ryan avoided most of the difficult parts of the song and even managed to do a crap job of the parts he actually sang - brutal.

CNN Goofs Audio During Bush’s Katrina Address

Posted by soultrance on Tuesday, August 29, 2006 at 12:45 pm

Someone over at CNN is without a doubt getting fired for this one. It looks like the folks in the audio department made a bit of a mistake and the reporters voices could clearly be heard over top of Bush’s voice during the address. The reporters call Bush an “asshole” and say things like “I have to be protected by him! *snicker*” and “his wife is a total control freak”.

Someone at CNN totally screwed up here and just bought themselves a one way ticket to pick-slip and food stamps land.

Watch the CNN Goof Video now.

UPDATE: My bad, looks like I jumped the gun and did some misreading. Apparently the anchor wasn’t talking about Bush, but instead was talking about her familly.

Rock Star Supernova: Viewer’s Choice Song Selection

Posted by soultrance on Monday, August 28, 2006 at 11:04 pm

Tonight’s Rock Star Supernova song selection show was a special one, seeing the Viewer’s choose the songs that the Rock Stars will sing for tomorrow’s show.

Tonight’s show also saw Dilana having a mental break down, smashing a wine glass on the ground and catching Magni in the head with a stray piece of glass, giving him a pretty nice cut. As well as all the Rock Stars trying their best to look hardcore in a photo shoot, some fail miserably (Magni), other started off rough and rocked it (Dilana) and others looked like they were posing for Playgirl (Lukas).

The Rock Star Supernova Viewer’s Choice Song Selection came down to the following songs:

  • Lukas - “Lithium” by Nirvana
  • Toby - “Rebel Yell” by Billy Idol
  • Magni - “I Alone” by Live
  • Storm - “Bring Me To Life” by Evanescence
  • Ryan - “Clocks” by Coldplay
  • Dilana - “Mother Mother” by Tracy Bonham

Tomorrow’s show should prove be a good one. I’m really looking forward to hearing Toby sing Rebel Yell, I think that song fits his voice and singing style perfectly and he should be able to rock it out hard. Storm singing Bring Me To Life should be really interesting too, I just hope she doesn’t butcher it.

Rock Star Supernova - Tuesday, August 29th @ 8pm EST on CBS.

Woman Crashes While Teaching Dog To Drive

Posted by soultrance on Monday, August 28, 2006 at 9:28 pm

Um… yeah. Not to much to say about this other than DUH!

Are people in the world seriously this stupid? I mean, really now. If I had a dog, I’d love it as much as the next person and would have it involved in a lot of my day to day life, but driving, yeah, let’s leave that to people, or at the very least to animals that can stand upright and walk on two legs.

The best part has gotta be this quote though:

“She thought she would let the dog ‘have a try’ while she operated the accelerator and brake,” the report said. “They did not make it far before crashing into an oncoming car.”

Ha!

Apple: 3 New ‘I’m a Mac, I’m a PC’ Virals

Posted by soultrance on Monday, August 28, 2006 at 7:21 pm

Apple released 3 new Viral Marketing videos as a part of their “I’m a Mac” “I’m a PC” marketing campaign today. The new additions are “Accident”, “Angel/Devil” and “Trust Mac”. These things seem to be getting more and more popular and are floating around the net everywhere. I, personally, think they’re rather stupid in general, though a few of them have a couple some-what funny parts. They’re still worth a quick watch if you’ve never seen them before.

The War In Iraq: Cost in Perspective

Posted by soultrance on Monday, August 28, 2006 at 7:14 pm

I found this article over at Crooks and Liars and it really puts the Iraq War in perspective. You hear figures in the millions and billions being thrown around everyday when it comes to the War in Iraq and when you hear these figures so often, they begin to lose all meaning and value.

This article is specifically for the $40.3 billion California tax payers will pay to keep the US in the war. This really puts everything in perspective:

  • 16,733,296 People with Health Care or
  • 627,551 Elementary School Teachers or
  • 4,767,634 Head Start Places for Children or
  • 25,168,314 Children with Health Care or
  • 235,246 Affordable Housing Units or
  • 4,390 New Elementary Schools or
  • 7,685,109 Scholarships for University Students or
  • 616,017 Music and Arts Teachers or
  • 741,482 Public Safety Officers or
  • 117,140,845 Homes with Renewable Electricity or
  • 601,790 Port Container Inspectors

It’s hard to believe how much good that money could be doing. What a waste.

Vatican Chief Exorcist: Hitler and Stalin Were Possessed

Posted by soultrance on Monday, August 28, 2006 at 6:45 pm

Vatican Chief Exorcist Father Gabriele Amorth is convinced that Hitler, Stalin and the Nazis were all possessed by the devil.

“Of course the Devil exists and he can not only possess a single person but also groups and entire populations.” “I am convinced that the Nazis were all possessed. All you have to do is think about what Hitler - and Stalin did. Almost certainly they were possessed by the Devil.”

I know Hitler and the Nazi Party, as well as Stalin, were horrible people and did absolutely discusting things to their people and other people of the world, but for some reason I just can’t believe the “they were possed by the Devil.” bit. I think it’s a little more likely that they were just very messed up in the head and thought they were doing the world some kind of great justice or favor.

Either way, this story was to entertaining and laughable to pass by, so I had to post something about it.

John Mark Karr DNA Doesn’t Match; Charges Dropped

Posted by soultrance on Monday, August 28, 2006 at 6:20 pm

All murder charges against John Mark Karr, the man who was recently arresed in Thailand, flown back to the U.S. first class and willingly confessed to killing JonBennet Ramsey, has been aquitted of all murder charges.

DNA samples taken from Mr. John Mark Karr did not match those that were taken from JonBennet or any of her clothes. As such, the district attorney has dropped the warrant on John Karr and they will not be proceeding with the case.

I had the feeling this guy wasn’t actually guilty, but was just doing it for the attention. One thing is for sure, he may not have killed JonBennet, but he is still bat-shit crazy and a pedophile and should be locked up for good.

Thankfully this wack job isn’t getting set free again, but is being shipped back to California to face child pornography charges.
