Remembrance Day Long Weekend

For those of us in Canada, this weekend is Remembrance day long weekend, which is basically the Canadian equivalent of Veterans Day in the U.S. Since it’s a long weekend, my wife and I are taking the opportunity to head to Vancouver Island, more specifically Port Alberni, to visit with some family and, it just so happens, said family has no computer. So, there will be no more updates until Monday night, maybe Tuesday morning.

I really need to get myself a laptop for just such occasions.

Since I won’t be updating, and I know you’ll be wanting your Reality TV and Celeb dirt fix, I highly recommend checking out the following:

Have a great long weekend everyone! And take a moment to remember all the soldiers that have given their lives in the line of duty. I personally don’t agree with the war, or any war, for that matter, but I do recognize that soldiers are giving their lives everyday for what they think is right. Pay some respects for past and present fallen soldiers. Canada alone has lost over 40 soldiers to the “peace keeping” mission in Afghanistan. Don’t forget them.

Survivor Cook Islands: The Non-Recap

Unfortunately I will be slacking off again tonight and won’t be watching Survivor Cook Islands. The Circle Craft Fair opens in Vancouver tonight and tonight is the only night my wife and I will be able to go, so we’ll be getting crafty while Survivor is on.

If you’ve never heard of the Circle Craft Fair, and you live in Vancouver, I highly recommend checking it out. Even if you don’t like crafts, it is a fantastic event. Artists, Crafters and Foodies of all forms pack into the Convention Centre, to the tune of about 250+ booths, to sell their hand-crafted awesomeness for only four days every year.

It’s a little pricier then you average craft fair, but it has so much more to offer, and it’s still not that bad, especially since they have some pretty sweet coupons.

Get your Circle Craft Fair Coupons here.

For all you Survivor addicts out there, you can get your fix from any number of sites, though I have a few favorites that are worth a look.

Global TV Reporter Shot With Taser Gun

Thanks to the guys over at Gawker.com for digging up this wonderful piece of footage.

For whatever reason, Edmonton Global TV News Reporter Olivia Cheng decided demoing the effects of being shot with a taser gun would make for a great segment. Unfortunately, she was right, but only because she steps up and takes the hit herself.

Cheng volunteered to take a hit from the taser gun, though elected only to take a 1/2 sec burst, as opposed to the usual 5 sec burst, and considering she can’t weigh more than 120lbs, the 1/2 sec shot was plenty.

I don’t know what it is, but there is just something gratifying about watching a reporter get nailed with a taser gun, even if it is only for a 1/2 sec.

Watch Oliva Cheng get shot with a taser gun after the jump.

The Biggest Loser: Season 3 – Episode 8 Recap

November 8th, 2006 – As a result of some confusion, I ended up watching America’s Next Top Model and missing half of tonight’s episode of the Biggest Loser. So read on, and find out what happened in episode 8 of the Biggest Loser.

Amazing Race 10 Winners: Team Kentucky

Though Team Kentucky, consisting of Dave and Mary Conley, aren’t your typical Amazing Race winners, especially since they didn’t actually win the competition, they’ve won big for just being on the show.

Rosie O’Donnell and the girls at The View were such big fans of the Kentucky team and how they played the game, that they showered them with a multitude of equally awesome prizes. For being such a respectful, friendly and just generally awesome team, The View awarded Dave and Mary Conley with:

  • $1,000 Carhartt gift certificate (for Dave to get some mining clothes)
  • MacBook computer
  • Canon Digital Rebel digital camera
  • 3 separate, 1 week vacations to San Diego, Disneyland and the Grand Canyon for their kids
  • Cruise (for them, The Cho Brothers AND Team Alabama)
  • Eddie Bauer edition Ford Explorer
  • and, last but not least, a brand new 3-bedroom, two-and-a-half bath, 1,800 square foot house on their land back home in Kentucky (on the condition that they give their trailer home to a family in need)

How awesome of a prize list is that? They may not have scored the Amazing Race top prize of $1-million that is awarded to the winning team, but they sure cleaned up.

Watch the video from the View after the jump.

Britney Spears Sex Tape

Hot on the heels of Britney Spears filing for divorce are rumors, naturally, of a sex tape.

Though no one seems to know for sure whether or not the tape is actually of Britney Spears and Kevin Federline, or of Britney with anyone else for that matter, it’s quickly doing it’s rounds on the celebrity blogs.

Watch the Britney Spears sex tape after the jump.

Protect Your Personal Space

Do you live in a big city? Are you sick of having your personal space invaded on the bus, skytrain, subway or streets? Then the folks over at LuLuBrands have the perfect invention for you.

The “Excuse Me” flag is a bright yellow flag, inscribed with the words “Excuse Me”, that is attached to a pole that is fixed to a belt. The pole projects 3-feet from the belt, and when worn, creates a 3 foot protective bubble of personal space.

All those that choose to ignore your newly found 3 foot circle of personal space may suffer such horrid injuries as poked eyes, scratches and pole slaps. For your own good, don’t enter the 3 foot circle of personal spacey doom!

Britney Spears files for Divorce!

There is a god! Finally, Britney Spears has officially filed for divorce from her greasy leach of a husband, Kevin “K-Fed” Federline.

Apparently a recent freak out on K-Fed’s part was enough to put the fear into Spears and spurred her on to finally filing for a divorce.

TMZ reports that the divorce papers were filed citing “irreconcilable differences.” The folks over at TMZ even have copies of the divorce papers to prove it!
