Big Brother 15 Episode 12

Aaryn and Kaitlin were again nominated for eviction in Big Brother 15 Episode 11.

Elissa is acting weird because she has not yet found out she’s the MVP. She’s not going to find that out either. In that case, she’s of no use to Amanda now.

Spencer and Howard want a new alliance with Judd, GinaMarie, and Kaitlin because supposedly they have all been ostracized. GinaMarie, for example, lost Nick. Let it go. Judd seems to be at least entertaining this, despite the fact that he nominated Kaitlin and desperately wanted to nominated GinaMarie.

The news for Elissa gets worse. The MVP has secretly nominated her for eviction, which totally makes sense. She may have the vote sealed up when it comes down to just a question of who people like best, but her supporters all splintered their votes without any clear indication, while a bunch of her haters all voted for the same person.

Perhaps this is overthinking things. This is Big Brother. It’s always possible they are trying to manufacture drama, which is exactly what this does. Elissa blames GinaMarie, Kaitlin, and/or Aaryn. Then she asks people to just vote her out. They wonder whether she just nominated herself.

Helen and McCrae have been chosen to participate in veto along with Judd, Aaryn, Kaitlin, and Elissa. Their task is to crawl through the mud and grab ballots, which they must either keep or discard based on the number of votes listed on each ballot. They can only keep 4 ballots. The higher numbers are punishments, while the lower ones are rewards, and single digit ballots are neither of those.

McCrae doesn’t care less that he may be the replacement MVP nominee and goes right for the $5,000. Aaryn doesn’t want to get her face dirty because she’s nothing without it.

Helen: 29 votes, 8PM curfew for 2 nights
Kaitlin: 25 votes
McCrae: 20 votes, $5000
Aaryn: 32 votes
Judd: 38 votes, solitary confinement for 24 hours
Elissa: 40 votes, can’t play in next week’s veto

Elissa wins the power of veto.

When Comcast decided to return my signal, Amanda was crying about Elissa being mean, which seems to have come about due to a comment about her weight.

Elissa has decided to use the power of veto on herself, and the replacement nominee is GinaMarie. Nobody in the house would nominate both of those people, which just leads to more conspiracy theories.

Big Brother 15 Episode 11

Jeremy was evicted in Big Brother 15 Episode 10, then Judd won HOH.

Spencer’s worried that a guy has gone home three weeks in a row. If the girls decide to work together, they could dominate the house. The problem is they hate each other.

Amanda continues to think she’s in power. That didn’t work so well last week. Again, Judd isn’t going to listen to her plans to get rid of Howard. Rather, the consideration is non-threatening nominees who nobody likes, again like last week. His main target is GinaMarie because she annoys him.

The have/have not competition is a froyo eating challenge, featuring both vanilla/chocolate and anchovy/habanero flavors. Whichever team gains the least weight loses. This is silly, even by Big Brother standards. The orange team of Jessie, Candice, Spencer, and Andy end up as have nots for the week. You’d think having Spencer around would serve as an advantage, but if anything it seems to be a hindrance. For Andy, this is his third week in a row as a have not.

Judd continues to get pressure to put up both Aaryn and Howard. He’s not paying much attention to those who want to get rid of Howard, but he seems to be leaning toward an Aaryn nomination, rather than his proposed targets, GinaMarie and Kaitlin, which would just be a waste.

Nominations
Spencer is safe.
Jessie is safe.
Elissa is safe.
Candice is safe.
McCrae is safe.
Andy is safe.
Helen is safe.
Howard is safe.
GinaMarie is safe.
Amanda is safe.
Aaryn and Kaitlin have been nominated for eviction.

Big Brother 15 Episode 10

As Kaitlin removed herself from the block after winning veto in Big Brother 15 Episode 9, the plan to backdoor Jeremy kicked into gear with him being put up for eviction against Aaryn and Spencer.

Aaryn complains that she is being discriminated against because she’s cute, and Jeremy is being discriminated against because he’s good at things. Anyway…

In attempt to save himself, Jeremy dresses in a diaper. I have not seen this strategy before. He makes an offer to McCrae, Amanda, and Judd that he’ll win HOH and put up whoever they want, something Helen and Elissa refused to do. Of course, it’s not as if he can be trusted.

Aaryn’s strategy is to try to be nice. She says this is really hard to do, and she deserves to be acknowledged for it.

Meanwhile, GinaMarie is still crying about Nick leaving. This was bad enough a week ago. Now it’s absurd. Somehow, all roads lead back to Aaryn being a mean person, as this emotional instability is apparently her fault.

Jeremy promises to be a completely different person and have Helen’s and Elissa’s backs (even over Kaitlin) if they help him stay. Although nothing he has done so far would suggest they should fall for this, he does seem sincere.

Votes
Candice: Jeremy
Andy: Jeremy
Howard: Jeremy
Elissa: Jeremy
Kaitlin: Spencer
GinaMarie: Jeremy
Amanda: Jeremy
McCrae: Jeremy
Jessie: Jeremy
Judd: Jeremy

By a vote of 9-1-0, Jeremy has been evicted from the Big Brother house. For the third week in a row, Elissa’s MVP nominee has been eliminated. Aside from Kaitlin, only Helen leaves him with positive comments, a smart strategy that some of them may care to borrow as we get closer to jury time. Being mean to evicted houseguests may be amusing, but it’s also stupid.

For all the drama and talk about how Aaryn is evil and keeps making comments intended to hurt others, not one person seems to mind spending the rest of the summer with her. Granted, she often does not seem like a particularly likeable person, but the edit she’s getting suggests an exaggerated attempt to create a villain by blowing every little thing out of proportion.

This week, the MVP has already been chosen. No, it’s not Elissa for a change. It’s America. Oh god. I was happier when it was Elissa all the time.

Their HOH competition is to guess who best fits the royal titles as determined by America.

Who should be crowned the earl of egotism? Aaryn or Jessie?
Everybody says Aaryn and is correct.

Who should be crowned the lord of laziness? Judd or McCrae?
Andy, Amanda, Candice, and Elissa are incorrect when they don’t answer McCrae.

Who should be crowned the baron of boneheads? Spencer or GinaMarie?
Everybody says GinaMarie and is correct.

Who should be crowned the knight of naughtiness? Amanda or Kaitlin?
Everybody says Amanda and is correct.

Who should be crowned the duke of dork? Andy or Helen?
Aaryn, Jessie, and GinaMarie incorrectly answer Helen.

Who should be crowned the sultan of sexy? Elissa or Howard?
Spencer and Howard incorrectly answer Howard.

The tiebreaker is for Judd, Kaitlin, and McCrae. How many gallons of milk would it take to fill the vats that Howard, McCrae, and Spencer were standing in? 1067. Judd, who has been amusing but otherwise invisible, is the new HOH with his guess of 650. I’m not clear what sense it makes for him to win. It’s not like anybody wants to nominate him. His likeability is not seen as a threat, not yet.

America’s Got Talent Season 8 Episode 9

Vegas week began in America’s Got Talent Season 8 Episode 8. There were groups of singers, solo female singers, solo child singers, groups of dancers, solo dancers, kids who danced… and the occasional variety act. Tonight, more musical acts take the stage.

First there were musicians. Then there were kids. Then more musicians. Now: kid musicians. Aaralyn screams while her brother Izzy plays the drums. Why is this on again? Hopefully this is the only act of the night I have to fast forward. Chloe Channell wants to go to New York City more than she wants to catch a 100 pound snapper. Genesis Nava is also a country singer, but this time she sings without her dad by her side. Ciana Pelekai is the oldest of the kid singers at age 12.

Magic is the next category. R.J. Cantu makes a woman float then disappear. Naathan Phan tells a joke without an apparent punchline but does make some birds disappear. Collins Key gives Heidi an envelope to sign and sit on, buys Howie’s affection by purchasing his book (used like new) and putting a card in a random page, tears that page out, and puts it in the envelope under Heidi’s butt. Far more compelling act and presenter than I suspect any of the others can be. Ariann Black has her assistant crawl through her, which just confuses the judges and leaves me thinking she botched it. Leon Etienne balances Romy Low on a pole.

Howard has a question for Leon and Romy. Who should he send home? Romy responds that Ariann slipped up and should be cut.

Variety goes next. Special Head returns to levitate, this time without a cane. But he’s just bending over backward. Kennedy Davenport is a dancer. Just okay. Continuing the musical variety, Megan Piphus, a singing ventriloquist. Less just okay, which is not much of a surprise because she was a decent singer but not much of a ventriloquist. Lil Mike & Funny Bone return with a less catchy song and limited preparation, resulting in their immediate elimination.

The final category of the week is the male singers. Dave Fenley, Marty Brown, Paul Thomas Mitchell, Jonathan Allen, and Travis Pratt prove to be among the more competitive and competent music category.

We conclude with a going/not going to New York montage complete with no mention of any names or most people I recognize even still. Just put some names on the screen, that’s all you need to do.

The first of the live shows next week will feature Branden James, Aaralyn & Izzy (if Simon Cowell were here, he would have told the truth… and said no), Special Head, Fresh Faces, Anna Christine, Kevin Downey Jr., American Hitmen, Hype, Tellavision, Alexandria The Great, KriStef Brothers, and Collins Key.

Big Brother 15 Episode 9

After we finally got through everyone in the house spreading the stench of hatred throughout in Big Brother 15 Episode 8, Helen anticlimactically nominated Aaryn and Kaitlin for eviction.

As with Sunday, CBS provides a warning/apology at the top of the show. Great, another episode with wall to wall racial overtones. It’s an important topic to discuss, sure, but it’s not the reason why I’m watching Big Brother. Admittedly, I never can figure out why I’m watching this show regardless.

Helen put two hated people on the block, but she realizes neither of them is a threat. Her real target is Jeremy, who she doesn’t want to give a way out like last week.

Unlike Howard, who continues to deny an alliance, Spencer acknowledges that he was a member of The Moving Company.

Surprise of the night. Elissa is MVP for the third time in a row. And for the third time in a row I ask: why bother holding a vote? Because Howard’s both a threat and a liar, Amanda and McCrae especially want him to be nominated.

It was already blatantly obvious that Helen knew about Howard’s alliance because she could name every member in it, but now he finally takes the hint when Spencer tells him she knows everything. Despite the fact that he voted in support of his alliance, he claims to have bailed because Jeremy is a bully.

All of this doesn’t seem to matter. Elissa has a preference to nominate Spencer rather than Howard.

The secret MVP that everybody knows has nominated Spencer for eviction. Afterward, Helen tells Spencer he needs to win so they can get rid of Jeremy.

GinaMarie and Candice will join Helen, Aaryn, Kaitlin, and Spencer in the veto competition. Kaitlin asks GinaMarie not to use the veto if she wins, not that she will.

For the veto competition, they will jump on a trampoline, look at an art collection on the other side of the wall, and match the collection on their own side. It goes without saying that, if their goal was to nominate someone who could win, Spencer was a far worse choice than Howard, though it does increase Helen’s odds. The paintings are famous portraits containing houseguest faces, and there are some that are duplicates but with the faces switched around.

Candice – 8:46
GinaMarie – 8:56
Spencer – 12:19
Aaryn – 9:50
Kaitlin – 7:09
Helen – 8:55

Kaitlin easily wins the power of veto. Now there’s the question of whether she’ll use it. She would be dumb not to.

Helen’s been over the top fake crying this whole episode. Now it’s Kaitlin’s turn. Jeremy suggests this might help get someone other than him nominated. Their suggestion is Howard, who Helen tells her is her other potential choice. During their discussion, Kaitlin starts real crying because she realizes there’s no chance.

It’s been 11 years since Marcellas passed up the chance to use the veto on himself, and for all her talk, it hardly seems likely that Kaitlin will follow in his footsteps. She does not. Kaitlin uses the power of veto to save herself. In her place, Jeremy is nominated, but that won’t stop him from being cocky.

America’s Got Talent Season 8 Episode 8

The auditions concluded in America’s Got Talent Season 8 Episode 7, and a pole dancer was perhaps the best act of the night. Now the 100 acts head to Vegas, and 60 of them will be chosen for the live shows.

Some acts will go straight to New York (Radio City Music Hall, which they are going to say over and over again), some acts will compete for a 50/50 shot to advance, and some will be cut right away. In order to know who is in what category, I’d need to be able to recognize without any hints these people who I’ve seen for two minutes each.

The danger acts perform first. David Ferman juggles stun guns while riding a unicycle. Brad Byers puts a hook through his nose and out his mouth, then uses the hook to pull people. Alexandr Magala swallows a sword and pole dances. Sam Johnson lights a hat on fire on his head, then he douses himself in gasoline and juggles on a unicycle on a tightrope. Rong Niu returns with her bowl and unicycle act, but this time she makes a mistake, though she does manage to land 5 bowls at the end.

The music acts are next. Forte, an opera singing group that just formed, has now reformed with a different singer joining their trio. Brandon & Savannah perform a cover song, rather than an original like they did last time. They consider their biggest competition to be older rock group American Hitmen.

They are followed by the kids groups, most of whom are also musical. 2Unique rap a Miley Cyrus song, from before she was famous for something other than fighting with her dad and shaving her head to look stupid. Lil Demon does some hip hop. Melody Caballero struggles through a contortion routine. Ruby & Jonas and Ruby’s brother D’Angelo and his partner Amanda keep their competition in the family. The older duo pulls it off without a hitch, but Ruby slips.

We’re done with music for now as the comics take the stage. Jimmy Failla falls flat. He says his act is not built for 4 people, but the problem is it’s just not funny. Eric Schwartz aka Smooth E has a little more success and at least gets some laughs. Taylor Williamson has the judges laughing before he begins, and he doesn’t even need to say anything for them to lose it. John Wing at 53 is able to make fun of the differences between today and the olden days.

Now more dance. Archbishop Molloy Step Team, Hype, and Art Spark are the groups. Kid the Wiz and Dylan Wilson are the solo dancers. They all perform to mixed reviews.

The acrobats go next. Tavi & Antonio perform their male erotic aerial act. “Accro” Brandon Rosario is the other pole dancer competing against the far more impressive Timber Brown. Duo Resonance have added a spinning trick to their dance, but they are disappointed by the results. KriStef Brothers have stepped out of an 80s workout video to act goofy and show off their strength and balance.

Not to be confused with the music acts, we conclude the night with the female singers. Skilyr Hicks sings another original song as she cries. Selena Mykenzie Gordon sings Martina McBride very well. Cami Bradley sings Summertime while playing piano. Deanna DellaCioppa was the first to sing but fell apart due to technical difficulties, but she returns to deliver a too emotional performance.

Big Brother 15 Episode 8

Elissa was saved again in Big Brother 15 Episode 7 as The Moving Company alliance fell apart and the bigger threat, Nick, was sent packing. Then Helen won HOH, ensuring Elissa’s safety for at least another week.

We begin tonight’s show with an apology from CBS. Why? The editing may be their fault, but you can’t control what people say or how others react to it. Regardless, no matter what, somebody’s going to get upset.

We start where we left off last week, with GinaMarie’s meltdown, like someone died. Once she’s done crying, she proceeds to yell throughout the house.

McCrae says The Moving Company wanted him to make a choice between Amanda and them, and he chose her. Spencer’s main reason for voting the way he did is because Jeremy’s an ass. Howard considered voting with them, but he says he wanted to create mystery over the fourth vote.

Realizing he sunk his alliance and is on the wrong side of the house, Jeremy starts his butt kissing immediately, even though he absolutely hates Elissa for reasons I still have not heard explained.

Kaitlin, Aaryn, and GinaMarie say they don’t even want to be here any more. Okay, cool. Leave then. Kaitlin feels like she’s back in high school being treated how she used to treat people.

Jessie says that Elissa is at least respectful, and maybe they should get to know her.

Candice enters her room to find a surprise. Aaryn threw her mattress and everything on it on the floor, for no apparent reason, and from what I can tell not necessarily aimed at any one person. But that won’t stop the drama. Strangely the voice of reason, Jeremy warns them they’re not making things better for themselves.

McCrae acknowledges to Amanda that he was in an alliance with the boys.

While Candice is consoling GinaMarie, who continues to cry, Aaryn takes the opportunity to apologize for anything offensive she may have said, and she seems somewhat sincere, to a point. Candice considers the apology to be dirt. We haven’t seen the last of this.

The have/have not competition is a hoedown. They have to transport spoiled milk across the yard and fill up their jugs. Howard doesn’t even care. Being on a team with Aaryn, GinaMarie, and Kaitlin, he’s with people he thinks need to suffer. McCrae is doing so badly that Howard is struggling in his efforts to fail, and his plans are spoiled. That makes McCrae, Amanda, Judd, and Jessie have nots for the week.

After the competition, Jeremy tells Helen about his alliance. He blames McCrae and Spencer for flipping, failing to realize that him threatening them was the beginning of the end. He’s completely fine with Helen putting Aaryn and Kaitlin on the block, thus concluding the selling out of all of his friends.

After being pushed, Howard finally stops lying about his vote. However, he continues lying about the male alliance, despite the fact that she is able to name every member of it. Just come clean, dude. It’s just way too obvious the cat is out of the bag.

Nominations
Elissa is safe.
Andy is safe.
Candice is safe.
McCrae is safe.
Amanda is safe.
GinaMarie is safe.
Judd is safe.
Jessie is safe.
Howard is safe.
Spencer is safe.
Jeremy is safe.
Aaryn and Kaitlin have been nominated for eviction.

Aaryn’s probably the biggest target in the house, but she’s hardly the biggest threat. She’s just the most divisive.

Big Brother 15 Episode 7

As the popularity contest continued to be the determining factor in who is “playing the best game”, Elissa again won MVP in Big Brother 15 Episode 6. She nominated Jeremy, but he won veto and removed himself. In his place, Nick was nominated alongside Elissa and Helen.

Last week, Elissa had it pretty easy. Though the chicks instantly hated her, The Moving Company had her back. Now the same girls are against her (and unable to realize they’re just giving the guys more power), and a member of The Moving Company is on the block.

Jessie, who really didn’t have to do anything last week or even choose a side, is now who Elissa considers her biggest hope. Along with Amanda, Candice, McCrae, Andy, Judd, and Howard, they feel they have the votes. Of course, two of these people have an alliance with Nick, one that has admittedly been on shaky ground after McCrae ignored them when he nominated Elissa and then Jeremy threatened them all to vote his way or else.

Howard seems pretty solidly aligned with them. The concern is that McCrae will do what Amanda wants. He acknowledges she’s his closest ally in the house.

Aaryn makes a lame but seemingly innocuous comment about the black fish and the white fish being segregated in the tank. While the others talk about her behind her back, Amanda opts to warn her how she’s being perceived. Rather than taking this onboard and possibly modifying her behavior, she says she’s not going to acknowledge it, nor does she care. Though she has a point that she is often prejudged herself because people consider her a Barbie, which can be both a help and a hindrance, you’d think she would at least not be so oblivious to how negatively people are reacting to some of her comments, if for no other reason than she doesn’t like how she feels when people assume she’s a dumb blonde.

Votes
Jeremy: Elissa
Kaitlin: Elissa
Andy: Nick
GinaMarie: Elissa
Judd: Nick
Spencer: Nick
Jessie: Nick
Howard: Elissa
McCrae: Nick
Amanda: Nick
Candice: Nick

By a vote of 7-4-0, Nick has been evicted from the Big Brother house. The same people who were blindsided last week are blindsided again, and Aaryn’s HOH accomplishes nothing as once again the MVP nominee goes home. I didn’t see that coming, not by that margin at least. Spencer and McCrae both voted against their fellow alliance member. So concludes The Moving Company, an alliance that was lame from the beginning.

Meanwhile, it may be Nick’s moment, but GinaMarie’s breakdown takes center stage. Nick feels Spencer has the power in the house, and he’s probably to blame for his eviction. They definitely took out a big threat, one who potentially could have gone very far in this game. Julie suggests he should have kissed Jessie for a vote.

Throughout the night, they are awakened by a loud noise so that they can memorize packages on a conveyor belt for tonight’s multiple guess (True/False) HOH competition.

Judd and Jeremy are eliminated on the first question. GinaMarie, Andy, Spencer, and Elissa are out on the second question. Candice is eliminated on the third question. Everybody is correct on the fourth question. And the fifth. And sixth.

It’s a tiebreaker question with five people still in the competition. They must identify the amount of cans contained in the BB Cola boxes. Everybody gives the same answer (168), except McCrae, who goes one higher. Now another tiebreaker, one with nothing to do with their overnight task. What was the total time in seconds it took Jeremy to win veto? Kaitlin has been impressive in this competition, answering without hesitation and first on almost every question (to the point where it looks fishy), but that won’t earn her any points. The correct answer is 895. With a response of 800, Helen is the new HOH. I am shocked. Shocked. The power has shifted back toward the side in the most danger last week.
