All Star Celebrity Apprentice Episode 4

La Toya Jackson fell on the sword in All Star Celebrity Apprentice Episode 3, allowing the Omarosa train wreck to continue, with nobody being more surprised than Omarosa.

We start again with Gary complaining about being labeled the weakest link.

Omarosa was shocked that La Toya did not pick her, but that aside, she learned that she can’t trust Claudia.

Their task is an interactive marketing campaign using a glass truck to promote Farouk Systems’ two biggest brands, Chi and Biosilk. They will be judged on three criteria: creativity, brand messaging, and overall experience.

Arsenio Hall and Don, Jr. are the advisors for this week.

Both teams are completely confused about who Farouk is and what a glass truck is. Omarosa names Claudia as her team’s project manager, and Marilu steps forward into a project that she hopes to figure out what it is eventually.

Trump will give $20,000 to the winning project manager, and Farouk will add $30,000 to that, plus $1 per like on Facebook up to an additional $50,000.

Lil Jon won a Farouk task in his season. Because of that, he wants to stress America in their campaign.

Dennis suggests they give makeovers to homeless women and drag queens. I’m pretty sure this idea will not be chosen, not even a little.

Marilu was a judge for Miss USA, and she wants to invite some of the contestants come down to the event. While she’s on the phone, Stephen wants her to have two conversations at once rather than focusing on the person on the other line.

Claudia’s team is going to rap as a brainstorming activity. Except for Dennis. During this process, they come up with their slogan. Brande says Chi wants you, and Lil Jon decides to wear an Uncle Sam costume.

Marilu’s concept is to put two hairstylists inside the truck so they can do quick makeovers. Stephen tries to create the slogan, live life luscious, but Trace doesn’t like it. His proposal, which the team likes, is experience silk.

Like Marilu, Claudia is hoping to score someone from Miss USA. As a former Miss Rhode Island, she wants to get the recent Miss Rhode Island winner. Unlike the other team, they plan to use the truck as a place to take photos. Omarosa is unimpressed, but she will be saving her input for the boardroom.

Omarosa and Dennis have been sent shopping for props. Mostly, they use it as a time to have fun. They return after 4 hours carrying everything they have bought in their hands, a total of 1 item per hour. Most of the things on their list are missing. Meanwhile, Marilu sends Trace and Lisa to babysit Gary while he goes shopping.

For all his interrupting earlier while Marilu was on the phone, Stephen actually was making an important point. She needs to speak to his publicist, Matt Rich, who also has ties to Miss USA. When they connect, she asks to make sure that she gets the Miss USA people, not the other team. By the time Claudia is able to speak to someone, it’s too late.

Their fall back plan is celebrity look alikes with terrible hair. They want to get Donald Trump, but the only Trump impersonator in New York died yesterday, so they will be settling for Joan Rivers instead.

Marilu’s team is using their celebrity well. Gary is a walking sitcom, Trace climbs on top of the truck with his guitar, and Penn juggles fire.

Claudia’s team has created scannable posters that link to the product’s Facebook page, a smart way to tap into Farouk’s proposed Facebook tie in.

When the event begins, Omarosa immediately begins looking for reasons why her project manager should be fired. As usual.

Claudia tells Don, Jr. that Brande is her most valuable player, while Dennis and Omarosa have been largely useless… actually worse than useless. In 4 hours of shopping, they were unable to get half the items on the list, whereas Claudia, Brande, and Lil Jon finished the shopping that Dennis and Omarosa should have done just before the event began, and it only took them 40 minutes.

Claudia’s team is very supportive of her performance as project manager.

Claudia reiterates that Brande is the strongest player. She reluctantly says that Dennis was her weakest player, declining to mention Omarosa’s name in the boardroom. Her defense is that she’s been thinking about it a lot since she last saw Don, Jr. Yeah, a lot must have changed since this afternoon.

Marilu again names Gary as her weakest player. He supports her leadership, though Stephen thinks she sometimes gets distracted. She declines to mention who she’s bringing back to the boardroom, not without Trump giving her a reason why they may have lost, a fair statement.

Farouk loved the entertainment value in Marilu’s team and that there was a line waiting to get their hair done, the glass truck featured the product, and they had a lot of beauty pageant contestants, including Miss USA. The slogan was a little generic, which would fall on Trace.

Now Trump’s going to force her to give an answer. She would choose Gary and Trace.

For Claudia’s team, the executives loved Lil Jon, the slogan, and the American theme and branding. They didn’t like the use of the glass truck (their makeovers were done outside the truck).

As the executives were discussing it, the results became obvious. They said Marilu’s team won on creativity, while Claudia’s team won on branding, leaving it down to the guest experience and who brought more people and more excitement. Clearly, that would be the team that created a big spectacle, which would be Marilu’s team. She will receive at least $50,000 for her charity, Alzheimer’s Association.

Arsenio points out another reason for the loss, which we have seen once before this season. Farouk wants his product to be the star, which may be a problem when celebrities are featured so prominently in the marketing materials.

Omarosa did point out that she wanted to move everything into the truck. Of course, she waited until 5 minutes before they started before doing that.

Claudia is asked to bring two people back with her. Dennis offers up his own name, and Lil Jon will the second pick. Really? This show is getting stupid. No wonder they’re shrinking it to an hour next week. Let’s stop protecting Omarosa already. Trump tells her bringing Lil Jon back is stupid and ridiculous.

No matter how ridiculous her picks, Claudia’s strategy here is clear. She can deny it all she wants, but she’s afraid of Omarosa. She would rather join together with Lil Jon and tag team against Dennis as opposed to fighting two people on her own.

In defending her choice to Trump, she says that Lil Jon is the marketing genius, so he needs to be blamed since they lost. Of course, they won on brand messaging, so this is immediately dismissed.

There’s no chance of Lil Jon going home. The only choice is between the other two. If not for her boardroom choices, I’d say Claudia is safe, but she deserves to be fired now. Trump acknowledges, though, that it doesn’t matter whether Omarosa came back or not because he was not going to fire her anyway. Claudia has been fired.

All Star Celebrity Apprentice Episode 3

After creating a logical based on the history of the show but ultimately not very good display in All Star Celebrity Apprentice Episode 2, Dee Snider accepted his fate as the second one to be fired.

The task is to write, direct, and act in a 5 minute Crystal Light mini soap opera. They will be judged on audience reaction, creativity, execution, and brand messaging.

Ivanka is back and will be joined in the boardroom by Arsenio Hall. La Toya Jackson and Stephen Baldwin are the project managers.

Claudia is worried that the teams are stacked. Their only hint of an actor is Brande, whose most compelling scenes involve slow motion running. Omarosa claims she’s an actress, too, and does not want to be relegated to the “menial” task of stage manager.

Penn’s the idea man on his team again, but this time the project manager listens to him. On the other side, Omarosa comes up with a housewives theme, then Lil Jon takes it from there.

La Toya doesn’t like or trust Omarosa (who does?), and it doesn’t take much before an argument starts between the two. Omarosa insists that she deserves respect, and La Toya retorts with the question: who is the most disrespectful person in the room? Omarosa says that La Toya needs to get control of her team, specifically Omarosa, and that she’ll get hers when they get in the boardroom. La Toya’s sure Omarosa caused her fiance’s heart attack.

Having been thrown out, Omarosa calls for direction on every single decision while shopping. For someone who loudly insisted on going shopping, she is deliberately unable to actually shop and would prefer to be a distraction, as usual.

Arsenio sees a tale of two teams. Stephen’s team is happy. The team with Omarosa is tense.

Having fought for this part at the expense of any semblance of team harmony, Omarosa takes a phone call in the middle of the rehearsal and says she has to leave. The next morning, still no Omarosa, leaving Dennis wondering: who is the mole? Claudia is left picking up the slack, and the team is left having fun.

As the director and project manager, Stephen wants to prove he’s in charge, to the point where nobody can get out a line without him interrupting them.

Right before the play begins, Omarosa shows up. She wants to see the play so that she has ammo for the boardroom, and if her team loses, she’s going to need it because right now, she doesn’t even have a friend in Jesus.

Lil Jon has come up with a way of getting the audience involved. They pass out cups, and each time the audience hears dun dun dun, they are supposed to take a sip of the product.

La Toya says Claudia and Brande were the stars. Omarosa, however, was not. Brande thought La Toya was great, and she agrees Omarosa is a problem.

Stephen says his whole team consists of all stars, but as usual, Gary is the weakest link. Marilu again reiterates that Gary is the weakest. Trace hops on the bandwagon. Lisa agrees.

The executives were really happy that product customization was central to the story and theme for Stephen’s team, and they loved Trace. However, they only used one of the two products, and there was confusion why their use of Susan Lucci was so limited.

For the other team, they liked the cheesy soap opera scene, liked the creativity (which also served as a burden), loved the use of both of the products, and they liked both Brande’s and Claudia’s performances. Everything felt rushed and chaotic, and the branding was not as well integrated.

Another week and more crying from Omarosa in the boardroom. Is this a new strategy for this year? As she debates this point with Arsenio, Claudia and Brande debate who should say maybe she shouldn’t be here if she has personal matters to attend to that are more important.

The executives have decided that Stephen’s team wins, and he wins $50,000 for his charity, Carol Baldwin Breast Cancer Research Fund. The audience favored their team 2:1.

Despite the win, Gary Busey is not celebrating because his whole team just got done saying again that he is the weakest.

Omarosa comes out swinging, saying that they lost because the project manager did not understand. Ivanka corrects her, saying they felt the brand was understood very well, but it was just not positioned correctly. If Omarosa wants to blame La Toya, she’s going to need to come up with a different story for doing so.

Lil Jon says that Dennis contributed less than the rest of the team, though his different perspective is helpful.

Omarosa has a warning for her team. They’re weak if they are uncomforable with her so far. This is going to go on for the rest of the season.

La Toya asks for Trump to give her some power. Can she, as the leader of her team, be granted the authority to fire someone? He quickly answers no.

La Toya picks Brande and Dennis to come back with her. Obviously, she doesn’t trust Trump to make the correct decision. Everybody is afraid that Trump won’t get rid of Omarosa, and this is the second time in a row in which she has not been brought back for that reason, despite the fact that she should be fired and never should have been invited back to the show again to begin with (nor should she have been back 5 years ago either).

Still, La Toya pretty much just ensured her own firing, and perhaps she wants it that way so that she can be removed from this toxic environment.

All Star Celebrity Apprentice Episode 2

All Star Celebrity Apprentice Episode 1 was a waste of time. Before the season started, Trump could not figure out why Bret Michaels would return again after having won already, which made Bret his easy target when his team lost to Trace’s money making machine. At least it was just one wasted episode, not like the year Joan Rivers was the pre-determined winner and the whole season was a farce. That said, Bret did make what will perhaps be the dumbest move of the season: he not only chose Omarosa to be on his team but actually picked her first.

Trace booked a cruise with Blake Shelton, so he will not be here this week.

Trump tells them that the task will involve Universal in Florida. Not knowing the task, Dee Snider quickly volunteers to be the project manager, and Omarosa will be in charge of her team, none of whom should trust her after her terrible job of keeping track of the money last week.

Their task will be to create a 3D photo experience to be judged based on creativity, integration of the marketing campaign, and guest experience.

Dennis Rodman asks a question about whether celebrities should be involved in the pictures. The response is that the characters are the stars. Not having asked that question, the other team will be featuring themselves.

Omarosa sends her team out to find stuff for Harry Potter, Despicable Me, and some unnamed third brand that she may or may not think of later.

Gary Busey says he’s good with a camera, but this one with three buttons is too advanced.

When Omarosa meets with the fabricators, she gives them specs for her design. Their response lets her know that she’s pushing the envelope too far with this vision, but she’s okay with that. She has, though, decided on a third character, Spider-Man, unbeknownst to her team.

As they run out of time, Dee decides to go with cutouts of the celebrities, abandoning Penn’s vision for incorporating magic.

The fabricator tells Omarosa the 3D stuff probably isn’t going to get done. If that’s the centerpiece, they’ll get it done, but they have to cut time elsewhere. How about the exterior? No, she wants to keep that as is, too. This guy is surprisingly calm considering she’s being such a bitch to him.

At least Omarosa has a vision, no matter how overcomplicated it may be. Dee’s team does not seem to know how they are going to fill in the space.

The Orlando portion of Omarosa’s sign is hidden, but she doesn’t care. The Spider-Man portion of her booth is deliberately left barren, which La Toya fears is setting her up in case they lose. La Toya’s not alone. Everybody expects Omarosa to take all the credit and accept no blame.

Marilu says the weakest player is Gary. Lisa loved Dee as the project manager, Penn says he was the star, and Stephen agrees.

Omarosa says Dennis was not a creative contributor, but on the other hand Lil Jon was very creative. Brande did not like the tense atmosphere Omarosa brought to the task.

The executives like that Dee’s team identified the family fun that lasts forever, and the celebrities wore outfits that fit the characters. However, the design was a bit simple, lacked stying power, and the park guests were more interested in the celebrities than the characters.

Omarosa’s team was more creative and interactive, and they featured the entire resort on a filmstrip (which hid the word Orlando).

Not surprisingly, Omarosa’s team won easily. They took away a lot from the meeting with the executives, avoiding the fatal pitfall of overusing celebrity thanks to Dennis’ question, but regardless the other team was just too simplistic.

A crying Omarosa has won $40,000 for her charity. After seeing this meltdown, Dennis asks Gary about his Oscar.

Penn states the fault is always that of the project manager. After Penn explains his idea, which Trump likes, he fake fires him for not backing it up enough.

Dee says that Gary is the weakest due to his limited skill set. But he does not trust Stephen Baldwin after the first task in which he withheld his money. Those are his two picks, though Trump tries to talk him out of both of them.

When they are in the hallway, Dee says he does not want to risk a second person being fired, which Trump has done before for no reason other than to prove a point and create shock in attempt to boost the ratings. He acknowledges he should be fired if they lost because of the concept. Dee has been fired.

All Star Celebrity Apprentice Episode 1

The All Star Celebrity Apprentice cast consists of 14 returning contestants, most of whom were terrible during their first appearance. Aside from Bret Michaels (who shouldn’t have won) participating again in the same capacity as last time, the other winners (at least two of whom shouldn’t have won) will serve as advisers.

Trump tells Bret he doesn’t understand why he came back because there’s a good chance he’ll lose. I’d argue he won on a sympathy vote last time, but regardless, he still should be good enough that he can at least last for several episodes, raising money for his charity in the process. Of course, there’s always the chance he’ll bomb and get fired tonight.

Rather than the typical men against women, the teams will be selected in a schoolyard pick ’em with Bret Michaels and Trace Adkins (who was the runner up in his last season, losing to Piers) as captains.

Bret: Omarosa, Lil Jon, Brande Roderick, La Toya Jackson, Claudia Jordan, Dennis Rodman
Trace: Penn Gillette, Dee Snider, Marilu Henner, Stephen Baldwin, Lisa Rinna, Gary Busey

Did Bret really just select Omarosa as his first choice?

Bret’s team chooses the name Power based on Omarosa rapping. The other team chooses Plan B, which Gary informs us is also a birth control device.

When he mentions the name of billionaire T. Boone Pickens, Trace is chosen as the project manager for his team. Omarosa nominates Bret as PM for their team, since he is the only winner competing this year. Brande, who was picked by Bret/Omarosa specifically for her fundraising ability, gets down on her hands and knees to secure the position for herself instead.

Piers Morgan, a clearly deserving winner who Donald Trump takes full credit for being successful since appearing on this show, will join Ivanka as an adviser this week. After throwing Bret under the bus for not being the first project manager, Omarosa starts talking about Piers’ mama.

They will be making meatballs for charity.

Bret has decided after the boardroom that he made a big mistake not taking this first one and also of selecting someone specifically because she’s evil. Speaking of Omarosa being evil, La Toya doesn’t like her either.

As his team starts to talk meatballs, Trace says it doesn’t matter. He’s not sure it even needs to be open to the public.

Omarosa says in no uncertain terms that her main goal is to be personally responsible for taking out the only winner.

Brande does not trust Dennis to do anything, so he’s going to have to find something on his own.

Stephen has decided to withhold his fundraising abilities until he’s project manger. This is a high risk strategy because if you don’t raise anything, you become an easy target.

Brande’s team already has a long line before they even open. Trace’s restaurant is deliberately left closed, and he puts signs on the windows letting people know it’s a private event. Of course, this does not stop Gary from yelling outside for people to come in.

Trace’s biggest donor shows up with $100,000 as the clock winds down. Brande, however, is not so lucky because all her donors show up, except for the largest one.

Bret has attacks coming from all sides. First Donald and Piers give him a hard time because he shouldn’t have come back (then Trump shouldn’t have offered), then Omarosa weighs in about how he sucked at fundraising.

La Toya was not overly impressed by Brande as a manager.

Trace finds difficulty getting support for closing the restaurant to the public, even if his logic that the big donors are all that matters is sound.

Stephen’s strategy to not try was not lost on Trace, who does not think anybody came in because he called them, and Stephen acknowleges he did not raise a penny. In a hectic atmosphere, he may have gotten away with this, but when you’ve only got a few dozen people coming down to a closed door event, it allows you to greet every person that enters the door.

Omarosa and Piers have their tiff dating back from the first Celebrity Apprentice season when she insulted him and his family. Dennis and Claudia for some reason choose to come to her rescue and go after Piers, an adviser who may have input into who gets fired. In doing this, Dennis just asks a question and bows out after hearing the answer, but Claudia goes on a rant in which she offends Ivanka by talking about Piers whining like a woman.

Kelly & Michael, whoever the hell they are (I guess they replaced Regis & Kathy Lee), must pick a winning dish. They have chosen Brande’s team to win the $20,000 bonus prize.

More money was raised by both teams than any first episode in the history of the show. Brande’s team raised $230,533 for a grand total of $250,533, which Brande considers a disappointing result relative to the input she had received from her team. Trace’s team raised $419,539, easily winning over $670,000 for his charity, American Red Cross. I’m not sure his risky strategy either hurt or help… he just fundraised better. He feels like he owes them for what they did for his family when their house burned last year.

Omarosa was in charge of the team’s accounting. Brande says she will be taking the two people who raised the least amount of money, and she will defer to her cashier for that. Omarosa does not want to answer. She should be brought back then. Granted, Brande should know more about what her team did than she seems to know.

La Toya blames Brande, but Piers counters that you can’t blame the person who raised most of the money.

As we go down the line, almost everybody falls around the 25,000 range, so there’s really no clear loser here. The only stand outs separated from the rest of the group are Lil Jon and Brande. After hearing all these numbers, Trump says that they must have won if they really raised that much.

Omarosa says that Bret brought in $15,000 while La Toya was around $18-20,000, putting them just shy of a few others. Omarosa’s numbers are closer, but there is still a $30,000 discrepancy. Surely Trump should know the real answer to this question, but he’s not revealing it if he does know.

Brande will bring back La Toya and Bret based on Omarosa’s numbers. None of the judges can figure out why she would believe Omarosa, but Trace says that she is doing the right thing because Trump won’t fire Omarosa (and he won’t, not for at least a few more weeks).

La Toya reiterates that she would fire Brande.

Brande repeats what Trace just said. She truthfully does not believe Trump would fire Omarosa. Trump claims he’s worried about his credibility if he doesn’t fire the worst person. He says this with a straight face.

Trump has already said he has no idea why La Toya has been brought back into the boardroom. For all the back and forth for the next few minutes, it becomes obvious that it really does not matter what anyone else says at this point. Trump can’t fire Brande either. She raised too much money. Bret Michaels, who Trump did not want to come back in the first place, is the first one fired this time.
