Heroes Season 3 Episode 17

Claire tried to be normal for about five minutes but ultimately joined the rebel cause in Heroes Season 3 Episode 16. Hiro finally learned a lesson that he doesn’t need powers to be a hero, and after working on capturing all the heroes, HRG ultimately collapsed in a bar, being dragged off by those he had captured.

Parkman, Sylar, and Suresh came up with a plan to kidnap Noah by drugging him. They realize they don’t have much of an alternative. With his mind compromised, Parkman is able to get into his head and see what happened five weeks ago. Angela wanted him to know the company’s time has passed and that it’s over. He wants to adapt and get it right, but she’s tired of this whole thing. Now Parkman realizes that he’s going to be able to get to the memories he needs, and he’s willing to push as far as necessary, against Suresh’s concerns.

Nathan’s hunter, Danko, wants surveillance on HRG, and he’s also spying on Nathan, who he doesn’t trust either.

Parkman wants to keep pushing on, despite the pain he’s inadvertently inflicting. Back to four weeks ago. Nathan arrives at the Bennet house to talk to HRG. Everything’s going to change, but Claire will be safe. He plans to replace Primatech with the resources and authority of the United States government. Certain exceptions will be made, like Nathan. And Claire, if HRG agrees to help. He hopes to have scientists figure out how to remove the abilities. HRG warns him he’s going to be seen as the villain, and none of the heroes will understand. Noah’s tired of doing crossword puzzles anyway, so he’s game.

With that last memory, they got the combination to HRG’s storage, which contains everything they need. Peter will go and just hopes Mohinder and Parkman don’t kill each other while he’s gone. Peter’s heist is being monitored, and Danko knows exactly where to find him now.

Nathan wants Peter caught, but without bloodshed. The team arrives with their weapons on stun, but then Peter just flies out. HRG warns that Peter’s probably dead, and they sent him right where they wanted him.

Now we go back to three weeks ago, in an attempt to find out who else he’s working with. HRG defends some of the people that are being targeted, but Danko doesn’t have any interest in any of them. HRG hops in a cab with Suresh as the driver and tells him what’s happening. He needs his assistance to stop the government program from blowing up in their faces. Parkman thinks that’s why Suresh really didn’t want him in his head, not because he was hurting him. Suresh said no, but he never saw anything that he could do to stop it even after he found out he was telling the truth. When they turn around, HRG’s gone.

They dash through the parking lot while Noah steals a car. Peter’s back just in time, landing on the windshield, and then they tie him back up. Peter knows they’re going to be caught up to eventually.

Time to go into his head, with or without the drugs. Back to one week ago. HRG arrives at Danko’s door. Danko sees this as a war, which requires single-minded focus. The people are just targets. Having done this for 20 years, HRG views the key as seeing people’s humanity, not their abilities, but he agrees that Danko’s the boss. Peter’s got another address.

Danko tells Peter to just go ahead and kill him. That will prove how dangerous abilities are. Nathan’s there now. He seems to have arrived rather quickly. Peter fires a shot, enough to wound Danko. Nathan warns Peter that he can’t pull the trigger because, if he does, Suresh and Parkman are dead. Danko’s not happy with his life being saved. He was hoping that Suresh and Parkman would be killed.

When he grabs a gun, Parkman’s told that Daphne’s alive. HRG agrees to let him go back inside his head without fighting so he can see for himself. Two days ago, he saw her, still alive despite the wound to her shoulder. In order to allow him the time to find this out, Suresh is outside and sacrificing himself, getting captured. Then the guys barge in the room and get Parkman to surrender, too.

Suresh is awakened inside Building 26. Nathan tells him the plane was taking them to a location that was supposed to contain them, but the hardliners now believe based on their actions that containment is not possible. He asks for his help to eliminate the powers. Daphne’s alive, for now, until his associates start killing people.

HRG promises Danko his complete focus. Danko blames Nathan’s personal issues for the heroes getting away. HRG believes now that Danko trusts him, although Angela doesn’t believe he trusts anybody.

Parkman’s painting the future, but he doesn’t like the mass destruction at his hands that he’s painted.

The Bachelor 13 Episode 8

Jason eliminated Jillian in The Bachelor 13 Episode 7. Before he makes his decision as to which of the remaining two to propose to, it’s time for the women to tell all.

Jason says he was surprised by the controversial things Megan had done because he was unaware of it. He was, also, surprised by her over the top slipping him the tongue on the set of General Hospital. In another memorable moment, he rejected Shannon’s advances because she was blubbering, which really was not the right time. Watching Jason on The Bachelorette was one of the ways that helped Stephanie cope with losing her husband. Next topic is Naomi’s wacky family. Yeah, there really was a dove in that bag. Jillian is Jason’s ultimate friend… and nothing more. Except for the hot tub scene. As for the overnight camping date with Molly, it was completely innocent. Jason claims it was just first base.

Chris and Jason talk about moments that we didn’t get to see. Yeah, that’s apparently possible despite all the filler they have to get through two hours each week. On a horseback riding date, the horse got spooked, and Jason had to hop off it before anything went terribly wrong. On his golfing date, Jason lost his pants to Molly. On another date with Molly, Jason decided to rap for her. Badly, again. What goes on in the fantasy suite? It’s a real overnight with no cameras for 10 hours or so. Jason will let us decide what goes on with that in mind.

Well, we’re coming to the close of another season, which means it’s time for the usual. Trista and Ryan, the show’s only success story over its 16 tries, are back for their semi-annual appearance. They have a baby girl on the way. Trista picks Melissa based on what she’s seen so far.

Chris begs to differ with my (and everybody else’s) assertion that Trista and Ryan are the only ones who have been successful. Charlie and Sarah, having broken up previously, are now back together. Tick tock. She didn’t like that he was a drunk, but he has been off the wagon (or on the wagon, whichever one’s the good one) for about two years now.

The guys from The Bachelorette and the girls from The Bachelor get together from time to time and look for different people to hook up with. They seem to be having more luck than the people who are actually The Bachelor or The Bachelorette. Holly was dating Robert until he got creepy, so now Holly has picked up Jesse after DeAnna dropped him because the limelight faded. Chelsea supposedly posed for Playboy. A lot of the guys have a crush on Amanda, who has opted for Graham. Fred and Noelle have hooked up.

Raquel, Lisa, Erica, Jackie, Megan, Renee, Lauren, Stephanie, Sharon, Natalie, Kari, Shannon, Nikki, Naomi, and Jillian (some of whom I actually remember) are back to dish the dirt.

Lauren and Erica rehash how Lauren threw her and Megan under the bus. Natalie never realized that nobody liked her. Stephanie just wanted to see the positive in everything and didn’t want to talk negatively like everybody else was doing.

Natalie says she was so stuck up because she didn’t have her Blackberry or iPod. She claims she’s only been stereotyped on this show, and she didn’t realize that she had problems with the girls. I’m thinking maybe she could switch to decaf and see some progress.

Jillian, who I expected would make it to the finale, has a lot of support from the audience. She’d make a good The Bachelorette. She really did fall in love with Jason, but at the last rose ceremony, that was the first time she wasn’t sure where she stood in the process. Still wanting to find her best friend, she thinks that maybe she did stop short of where she needed to be to get past that. Her parents thought they were going to get married, and her grandmother loved Jason. Despite how things turned out, she found out that she can and will fall in love. Jason’s not a kraut guy, but he’s not 100% mustard any more either. Chris doesn’t pull any punches: would you do it again? Yes, she would want to be The Bachelorette.

Jason says he’s excited to be there and feels he built a relationship with everybody. Jillian keeps her dignity. She respects Jason’s decision, understanding that there was something not there. No begging him to change his mind (let’s save that for next week and DeAnna’s return). With Naomi, Jason was worried that she wanted to spread her wings, which is something he isn’t in a place to do. Stephanie and Jason are both happy to see each other, with no hard feelings. With his choice, to be revealed next week, Jason says he’s extremely happy.

Considering this season’s ratings success, this comes as no surprise, but they are currently casting for The Bachelor 14.

The Amazing Race 14 Episode 2

It was pretty obvious Preston & Jennifer were going to be a disaster when they said they were both control freaks, although I wasn’t expecting them to be the first team eliminated as they were in The Amazing Race 14 Episode 1.

Teams depart in the order in which they arrived.

First: Margie & Luke – 2:56AM
Second: Tammy & Victor – 2:57AM
Third: Mark & Michael – 2:59AM
Fourth: Mel & Mike – 3:18AM
Fifth: Amanda & Kris – 3:47AM
Sixth: Brad & Victoria – 3:56AM
Seventh: Jaime & Cara – 3:59AM
Eighth: LaKisha & Jennifer – 4:02AM
Ninth: Steve & Linda – 4:04AM
Tenth: Christie & Jodi – 4:12AM

Victor believes he’s the leader of his team, so his baby sister will have trouble breaking through that. Jennifer is going to have the same trouble with LaKisha. Mel injured his groin in the last leg climbing up that hill. Steve & Linda are just happy to not be the first ones eliminated. He admits he was an asshat for treating her like he did. Most of the teams are smart enough to use the phone from their taxi drivers. Margie & Luke didn’t prebook but get on the flight. Mark & Michael try to book when they get to the airport but are told there aren’t any seats. Christie & Jodi were smart enough to call, but they’re leaving so much after everyone else that there’s only one seat left.

Teams will fly to Munich, Germany.

First flight (7:10AM): Jaime & Cara, Kisha & Jen, Steve & Linda, Margie & Luke, Mel & Mike, Brad & Victoria, Amanda & Kris, Tammy & Victor
Second flight (8:45AM): Mark & Michael, Christie & Jodi

When they land, they’ll drive themselves to Rupholding, racing down the Audubon with matching Mercedes.

The road block is to run off the mountain and take a flying leap, paragliding in tandem with their instructor to the ground 6000 feet below. In the event of unsafe wind conditions, they can either wait for things to get better or hike down the mountain 60 minutes. Tammy opts to run down, and she’s got about a 15 minute lead over the others. Victoria’s the first one of the group of five that arrive next to decide to make a run for it. Kris and Margie decide to make a run for it. Mel can’t go down the hill because of his injury. He’s stuck up there for as long as it takes. Linda knows she’s not the best runner but is going for it. Having waited for a long time, Cara finally decides to run. With the people from the last flight arriving, Mel & Mike are getting more concerned. Mark leaves, and Jen and Christie go shortly behind him. That puts Mel alone at the top of the hill. He refuses to pray… God is busy enough without worrying about who is eliminated from this race. Finally, the wind calms down, and he’s allowed to head down.

Road block: Tammy, Kris, Margie, Cara, Mel, Victoria, Linda, Jen, Christie, Mark

Tammy completes the run first. Margie is next. Kris follows. Victoria is fourth. Mel lucked out and landed in fifth. Everybody else now knows it’s a footrace. Mark and Cara are next. Linda seems completely lost. Jen is eighth. Christie is ninth, and Linda is afraid Steve will hate her. She has run into the highway and decides to hitchhike, surely against the rules.

Teams must drive themselves 25 miles to the Schonau am Konigsee. Jen & Kisha get lost again, and Kisha doesn’t seem to want to know what Jen has to say.

The detour is a choice between balancing dolly or Austrian folly. In balancing dolly, teams must ride a Segway Transporter along a 2 mile obstacle course. In Austrian folly, teams must throw pies at a target (their partner’s face) until they find a pie with a cherry filling. The balancing task probably is a lot less fun, but the dumb luck task has been the downfall of many a team.

Austrian folly: Tammy & Victor, Amanda & Kris, Margie & Luke, Brad & Victoria, Christie & Jodi, Steve & Linda
Balancing dolly: Mel & Mike, Jaime & Cara, Kisha & Jen, Mark & Michael

The next stop is woodcutters. Once they get the wood, it will be stamped with their next clue. Then they will have to drive themselves to Salisburg, Austria and find Schloss Hellbrunn, which is the pit stop for this leg of the race.

First: Tammy & Victor (win hybrid go karts)
Second: Mel & Mike
Third: Amanda & Kris
Fourth: Margie & Luke
Fifth: Brad & Victoria
Sixth: Jaime & Cara
Seventh: Kisha & Jen
Eighth: Mark & Michael
Ninth: Christie & Jodi
Eliminated: Steve & Linda

Steve & Linda were an elimination waiting to happen, but Mel & Mike clearly should not be in this race any more if the injury is so bad that it will make them unable to complete many of the race’s physical challenges. Despite the fighting during the race, Steve & Linda say they wouldn’t have wanted to do the race with anyone else.

It’s looking like Jen’s frustration with Kisha is going to get hateful on a future episode, and although Tammy claims she’s used to Victor being bossy, she doesn’t look like she’ll be able to put up with it for much longer either. Christie & Jodi, who probably are not a bad team (if only they’d get a chance to prove it without always being on the last flight/train), keep cutting it pretty close.

Dollhouse Season 1 Episode 2

Joss Whedon’s newest project premiered last week with Dollhouse Season 1 Episode 1. It got decent ratings considering Fox stuck it in the deathslot behind a show it’s given up on, and then from there it went to #1 on iTunes (currently still in the top 10). A promising, albeit not stellar, start.

Eliza Dushku stars as Echo, a doll who has her personality wiped out on a regular basis so that she can be assigned a new one based on the company’s needs. Last week, she was assigned to the part of Eleanor and had to save a little girl who had been kidnapped. She was given asthma, nearsightedness, and a troubled past, all of which she needed to overcome to save the day.

The dolls hear an alarm that’s obviously something going wrong. They’re told to just go to bed and not worry. The Dollhouse is on red alert looking for Alpha.

Adelle is meeting with a client, Richard Connell, who’s looking for a girl. He’ll get one, as long as he’s willing to pay. He is assigned Echo. They go through the rapids, then rock climbing.

Agent Ballard’s still on the Dollhouse’s trail. He’s investigating the kidnapping, which doesn’t add up. Davina told him a pretty lady came to save her. That should narrow it down.

Connell is now teaching Echo how to hunt with a bow, which apparently involves a lot more touching than might be expected. She see something, aims, and shoots… then they’re in bed. Play time’s over, though. He instructs her to stop talking now and start running. He’ll give her a 5 minute head start.

This episode is apparently now heading into part flashback, part not flashback. Presumably the parts prior to Echo’s current assignment are the flashback part, but it’s a little wonky to follow.

Boyd Langton shows up at the Dollhouse. He is being assigned to Echo, since he’s standing in the remains of her previous handler. He wants to see one of the victims, who was killed within 8 seconds with almost surgical expertise. The concern is that it was Alpha, who was programmed to do this, but that programming was supposed to be erased. He killed everybody else in the area, but not Echo for some reason.

Echo’s running, and her 5 minutes are up.

Ballard obtains Lubov’s number, which he will always have, and asks him what he knows about Dollhouse. He’s not getting an answer just yet but expects one.

Someone has left a photo for Ballard in an unmarked envelope. It’s a picture of Echo that merely says Caroline on the back.

Connell starts firing on Echo. This is probably the moderate risk Adelle was concerned about.

Boyd’s out in the woods with another guy in a van. A cop wants to know what they’re doing in that restricted area. Boyd pretends to be a news reporter, and he’s got a reporter’s badge to go along with that story. The cop seems satisfied with this story… until he shoots the guy with Boyd.

Alpha’s victims didn’t put up a fight. They wouldn’t know how because they’re not imprinted to do so.

Boyd ends up with a gun pointed at his head as well, but it looks like he can take care of himself, and he gains the upperhand on his attacker.

Adelle is unconcerned about Ballard, but Laurence wants him neutralized.

Echo makes her way to an abandoned house. Upon opening a door, a body falls on her. She grabs his walkie talkie and asks for help. Connell is on the other end, and he wants to see whether she can prove she deserves to live by escaping him. Grabbing the random canteen in an abandoned building was probably not the best idea, since she’s now starting to cough because of it.

Topher is going to imprint Echo so that she trusts Boyd, no matter what and without hesitation.

Connell lets Echo know she’s not going to die. Just get a spin on things.

Boyd wants answers from his captive. He wants to know how many men are between him and the girl. He doesn’t seem to know much, so Boyd keeps shooting random body parts until he gives up some information about how he was just hired over the phone.

After falling in the water, Echo wakes up and sees Connell. The chase is on again.

According to the FBI database, there is no Caroline.

Boyd has managed to find Echo. She doesn’t know him, but she knows that everything will be alright due to her preconditioned response to him telling her it will be. Then he gets shot with an arrow.

When they’re trying to escape through the woods, Boyd tells Echo everything is going to be alright, but this time she doesn’t listen. Connell will stop… if he’s dead. However, Echo doesn’t have the right input to go after him. She insists, so he gives her his gun to go back and take care of business.

Now it’s time for him to play her game. She wants him to drop his weapon, but he wants to keep playing. So she shoots him. His bleeding arm isn’t stopping him. When he catches up to her, he’s got a question: is this the best date ever or what? He wants to call it a draw, but she seems to be taking issue with the fact that he poisoned her and tried to shoot her with arrows. Still, they count to three and drop their weapons, before picking them right back up and shooting. It then turns into a fist fight. As he’s choking her, she stabs him in the neck with the arrow on the ground. He’s quite impressed until he dies.

Echo returns to Boyd, and a team of men come get them.

Adelle wants to know how it was missed that Connell is a psycopath. He doesn’t exist, and everything’s been fabricated.

The man Boyd left behind is dead. Though the wounds he inflicted were non-fatal, someone else chopped him up with surgical slashes and a 10 inch blade. Dr. Saunders says it’s not Alpha because he’s dead. Boyd’s not so sure he believes they weren’t lied to about that, but whoever it was, everything leads back to Echo.

If it were up to Laurence, he’d put Echo in the attic, or the ground. It’s not like it matters what he says to her because she doesn’t know anything but what they imprint her to know.
