Welcome to the Cook Islands and the October 12th Survivor Cook Islands Recap:
This weeks episode kicks off with a pleasant site, the boys of Raro sitting around, chatting and “brushing” their teeth with make shift toothbrush crafted from what looks like pieces of bambo? While sitting around socializing, the guys get to chatting about the girls and start to get themselves a little worried, so what do they do? *gasp* They actually work! Everyone shoots off in different directions. Nate rounds up a big ol’ pile of firewood, brad goes fishing and adam goes crabbing. I wonder if the girls notice the sudden change of pace? Hehe, yup, they sure did.
Survivor Cook Islands Info
Apparently, before coming a big time Survivor star, Jonathan was a star of another kind. In fact, he starred in a movie along side Jason Alexander, better known as George from Seinfield. The movie, Down on the Waterfront, even scored itself an Emmy nomination. How cool is that? It turns out Ozzy isn’t the only one that’s acted before.
Back on the Aitu beach, the girls are having a gross out event of their own, comparing armpit hair. Yummy! It’s a good thing Cao Boi decided to go fishing, if he was around he may have joined in and probably would have lost. Yuck.
Survivor Cook Islands Reward Challenge
- Each tribe breaks out into three teams of two
- Each pair shares a platform on which they must stand, attached at the hip, while holding a rope in one hand
- The remaining tribe members add weight to each teams ropes, one by one, 5lbs at a time
- The teams to hold on the longest without dropping their ropes wins the reward for their tribe
- Reward: Fishing Supplies, Spices, A few bottles of wine and the ability to chose who, on the losing team, goes to Exile Island.
Adam and Nate, and Jonathan and Yul are the first teams to get hit the hardest, getting 30lbs dumped on their lines before anyone else. As a result, Yul loses hold of his rope and knocks himself and Jonathan out of the competition first.
Rebecca is next to drop her rope, knocking herself and Stephanie out. Shortly after, Sundra drops her rope and eliminates herself and Candice. That leaves us with Ozzy and Jessica (Flicka), and Nate and Jonathan. Flicka talked herself a lot of smack through out the challenge, but she couldn’t live up to it and dropped her rope, knocking herself and Ozzy out, and making Nate and Adam the winners for Rarotonga.
In a rather surprising and cleverly strategic move, Raro decides to send Jonathan back to Exile Island for a second round. Very smart, very smart. Completely removing him from the rest of Aitutaki for as long as possible.
In what ends as a comedy of errors, Adam shows up at camp with an octopus attached to his leg. After finally getting it unstuck, thanks to some help from other tribe members, they get to chopping it up and turning it into food stuff. Once it’s all chopped up, Cristina, for whatever reason, takes it down to the water and washes it off, only she turns her back to the pot, over it goes and a bunch of octopus bits are freed back into the sea. What’s her excuse for this screw up, you might ask? Well apparently she thought Rebeccas was behind her, and apparently it’s her fault for not being behind her to watch the pit. Riiiiiiiight, you could at least admit to screwing up, I mean, really now, it was obviously your fault.
Back at Aitu beach Cao Boi, Ozzy and Flicka are planning a trip to a near by island, and, no doubt in an effort to expand their alliance a bit, ask everyone else, one by one, to come with them. To bad everyone refuses and, instead, sticks around to work on getting Sundra to join their alliance. Nice!
Well, Cao Boi, Ozzy and Flicka manage to get themselves to the other island and, low and behold, what do they stumble upon, why it’s none other than Raro’s base camp, oops! To being with, Raro is pissed with the fact that Aitu people are intruding on their turf, and rightly so, but Cao Boi, as usual, has a happens of making bad situations even worse. The fool decides it’s time to strike up meaningless conversation and drone on for a while about stuff no one cares about, and if that’s not irritating enough, when Raro is kicking them out he asks if they want to go coconut hunting on Raro’s island and split the coconuts with them, or if they’d be willing to give him any spices. What a fool. Really man, you just talk to much. I liked you at first, but now you are supremely annoying.
Survivor Cook Islands Immunity Challenge
- Jonathan returns from Exile Island, again
- Each team must assemble three poles with small circular platforms on their tops
- Once all three poles are assembled, two tribe members must get up on a large platform and step off said platform onto the small, one of the circular platforms mounted on the poles
- Each tribe must repeat this process until both tribe members are off the first platform and on the second platform
- At that time, the entire tribe must pile onto the platform
- Once everyone is on the platform, the tribe members must jump off and swim to another, substantially smaller platform
- All members of the tribe must be on or above the very top of the small platform for the tribe to win immunity, which is no small task with how small the platforms are.
Aitu takes a lead right out of the gates, assembling their poles before Raro. Though Raro’s lead is short lived as they get setup to make their first attempt and the top falls off one of their poles, setting them back a little bit. After getting frustrated with three poles, Aitu elects to drop one and make it a two pole effort, which appears to work out a lot better for them. Shortly after Raro makes the same choice and takes the two pole approach.
Raro is the first Survivor Cook Islands tribe to get a tribe member to the second platform, but Aitu is hot on their heals, making up ground fairly quickly too. Raro does, however, manage to get their second tribe member to the platform first. The entire tribe piles onto the platform and off they go, swimming for the final platform. Raro reaches the final platform first but runs into a lot of trouble trying to fit everyone on top or above of the platform. They actually get close but Adam can’t manage to hold the weight and they all fall of the platform, forcing them to start from scratch. As a result, Aitu catches up and makes everything all square. After a valiant effort on Raro’s part, their lead just couldn’t cut it and Aitu pulls out the victory, cramming everyone onto the top of the platform and winning the survivor immunity challenge.
Once back to Raro beach the back stabbing and jockeying for position kicks into full gear, with all eyes on Cristina. No one seems to like her, she’s bossy, a female version of JP and dropping the octopus was a crowning achievement.
But, as usual, what people say gets twisted and Stephanie becomes a target again, after making a comment about how she could go for some mashed potatoe’s and gravy in front of Nate. Nate took that as a sign that she was giving up and really wanted to go home, and too it upon himself to spread said information to the rest of the tribe members. Well done, that’s one way to get rid of someone you don’t think is dedicated to the game.
Survivor Cook Islands Tribal Council
Everything kicks off as usual, the grand enterance, the torches, and, of course, Jeff Probst making small talk with the Raro tribe members. Then we get into the good stuff:
Revealed Votes
- Stephanie votes for Kristine
- Kristine votes for Stephanie
- Surprise!
Official Votes
- Cristina
- Stephanie
- Stephanie
- Stephanie
- Stephanie
- Stephanie
Stephanie is the next tribe member to be voted off the island.
Ouch! That one wasn’t even close. I guess making a comment about how much you’d like some mashed potatoe’s and gravy is one of the more dangerous things you can say on survivor cook islands. I hope everyone keeps that in mind for the future, it could be a game altering choice to say something like that. How dumb is that.

im getting slammed enough on my post even aftera admitting my ONE error. but apparently there are NINE actual actors ‘of some level’ on this season which in my opinion was likely meant to stir up whatever racial tension they wanted im not watching this one anymore so i have no idea if that is happening but there is no bamboo there unless they have given it to them which well i already know they did. i know there is also one woman she is a makeup artist on the view who is there, now i know that is not an ACTOR but i also work in TV so i know that just being around a show like that you’d pick up A LOT.
