The Biggest Loser Season 9 Episode 7

Melissa fell below the red line and was sent packing in The Biggest Loser Season 9 Episode 6. Then the two people who fell below the yellow line, Darrell and Cheryl, were put head to head in an elimination challenge. The results of that were delayed three weeks until after the Olympics. Yeah, it was all quite lame.

In just under 10 minutes, Darrell is the first to budge, and he is not The Biggest Loser.

The temptation brings them chocolate chip cookies. The winner of the temptation gets to choose the teams of blue vs. black. They will also be able to pick one person to have immunity. So who would actually like control of the game? Michael and Andrea. Nobody else is interested in playing. Putzes. These two contestants will compete in a game of memory, picking two cards at a time and trying to find a match. Their goal is to find golden tickets. If they match, their opponent eats whatever they match. If they don’t match, they have to eat. Each cookie has 100 calories. Andrea is the first person to not match. She pretends like the cookie does not taste good. Michael mismatches next. Then Andrea. Then Michael. Then Andrea. Then Michael again. With Michael’s miss, Andrea is able to score the first match, a name brandless 80 calorie chocolate and peanutbutter treat. Her next pick is a miss. Followed by a Michael miss. Andrea manages to take advantage with a 360 calorie blueberry muffin match. Then she matches the 340 calorie giant pretzel. Then the 480 calorie fruit pie, which brings Micheal up to 1760 calories so far. Finally, Andrea locates a golden ticket card, but her next pick is not a match. Michael finally has a match with a 420 calorie peanutbutter and jelly sandwich. His next pick is a miss. Andrea scores a 90 calorie “crispy treat” match. This is followed by a 160 calorie glazed donut, bringing Michael to 2310 calories. Michael finally uncovers the second golden ticket, and then he finds the match. In her quest to a loss, Andrea ended up eating 1320 calories.

13 people remain. That will make for two teams of six and one person with immunity, who will join the losing team after this week.

Black Team (Jillian)
Sam
Cheryl
Andrea
Stephanie
Sherry
Ashley

Blue Team (Bob)
Koli
Daris
Lance
Miggy
Sunshine
Michael

The cousins are not happy. The mother and son are not happy. Andrea gets put with the trainer she does not want to be with. Lance, however, does not get put on Jillian’s team, which is good since he decided earlier in the season he hated her and/or her guts. Ashley and Sherry are on the same team, although it’s the underdog team. O’Neal is granted immunity, but it may end up meaning he’s not with his daughter and may get stuck on what is perceived as a weaker team.

Jillian walks into the gym swearing. She calls it the most unfair, impossible scenario ever. While she has a valid point, he’s well within his rights, not to mention smart, for trying to stack the deck.

Stephanie is already playing in an attempt to stay on the stronger side of the weaker team. She would like an alliance with Ashley and Sam.

Jillian breaks out some Larabars, which I discovered through the show’s promotional efforts last season. They’re actually quite good.

At the challenge, each team will lift their team-colored banner from the roof. The winning team will get letters from home. O’Neal bets on the blue team. Koli calls it four guys against Sam, who says it’s just about technique. The blue team has the lead the whole time and retains it to win the challenge.

Now it’s time for a visit to Dr. H, and typically at this point it is not a scare visit. Ashley has dropped down to 49 years, an 8 year improvement. Having stopped smoking, drinking, and overeating, Sam’s dropped to 46, a 5 year improvement, and has also improved to a 24% risk from a 51% risk.

After a last chance workout, they head to the weigh-in.

O’Neal: 316 pounds (-9, 2.77%, immune)

Michael: 417 pounds (-15, 3.47%) – 109 pounds in 7 weeks
Sunshine: 232 pounds (-7, 2.93%)
Lance: 300 pounds (-5, 1.64%)
Miggy: 195 pounds (-4, 2.01%)
Daris: 267 pounds (-7, 2.55%)
Koli: 316 pounds (-10, 3.07%)
Blue Total: -48 pounds, 2.70%

Andrea: 250 pounds (-5, 1.96%)
Cheryl: 187 pounds (-4, 2.09%)
Sherry: 171 pounds (-6, 3.39%)
Sam: 290 pounds (-8, 2.68%)
Stephanie: 213 pounds (-8, 3.62%)
Ashley: 301 pounds (-10, 3.22%)
Black Total: -41 pounds, 2.82%

Despite the horribly unfair worst situation in the history of the world scenario, black team has pulled out a win. Certainly surprising results, but hardly as unexpected as they would have liked us to believe. With the highest percentage of weight loss on his team, Michael is safe. O’Neal will be joining the blue team after the vote.

Votes
Lance: Miggy
Daris: Miggy
Miggy: Lance
Michael: Lance
Sunshine: Miggy
Koli: Miggy

With 4 votes, Miggy is not The Biggest Loser, but at least she managed to somewhat redeem herself in the wake of her daughter’s departure. She is down from her starting weight of 240 pounds to 179 pounds today. She says she has learned through meditation to better release her stress, and she’s changed her energy from negative to positive.

Darrell, who was eliminated at the top of the show, has dropped from 413 pounds to 293 pounds today. His wife is also getting into better shape alongside him. He can now fit into the jacket he wore when he first met his wife 27 years ago.

Ali Fedotowsky Is The Bachelorette 6

The Bachelorette is returning to ABC this summer, with an expected premiere date of Monday May 24 at 8/7c, after Dancing with the Stars wraps up.

Ali Fedotowsky, who made it close to the end of The Bachelor 14 before having to make a choice between her job and Jake, will be The Bachelorette for season 6. In the end, she chose the job, but said that she had fallen in love and ultimately regretted her decision.

I hope this time she’s informed her boss at Facebook how long she plans to be gone.

The Bachelor Season 14 Episode 10

Typically they give us some breathing room, but with Lost on the jam packed Tuesday nights, this season we jump right into after the final rose immediately after we found out The Bachelor 14 winner was Vienna.

Tenley says she still can’t figure it out, but she’s noticed a very playful side to Jake when he’s with Vienna. When she confronts Jake, he still can’t put into words. There’s still nothing wrong. The only explanation she’s going to get is that Vienna and he had that spark that they lacked.

Jake wants everybody to trust that he made the right decision, although he realizes that he made a controversial choice.

Vienna says that the image we’re getting of her is not her, and that the tabloids are just making up stories at random.

Now that they’re able to tell people that they’re together, Vienna will be moving to Dallas immediately. Not wasting any time, but at least they are not yet setting a wedding date. Before that, though, they will be returning to St. Lucia on the show’s dime. Now if they were smart, there would be a Travelocity roaming gnome in the background.

The new Bachelorette is here tonight: Ali. Really? The chick who quit the show and hated Vienna’s guts?

Dancing with the Stars 10 Cast

The 11 contestants competing in Dancing with the Stars season 10 are:

Jake Pavelka (reality TV star)
Kate Gosselin (reality TV star)
Niecy Nash (comedian)
Nicole Scherzinger (singer)
Pamela Anderson (actress)
Shannen Doherty (actress)

The new season premieres Monday March 22 at 8/7c on ABC, and the following week it will go to a Monday/Tuesday schedule.

The Bachelor Season 14 Winner

Saying goodbye to Gia in The Bachelor Season 14 Episode 7, Jake narrowed his choices down to two women: Tenley Molzahn and Vienna Girardi.

Jake meets with his family and talk about the girls. His mom suggests maybe there’s something to how everybody hated Vienna. She’s already getting off to a bad start, and she hasn’t yet set foot in the house.

Never mind that for now. It’s Tenley’s turn first. She’s got good answers to their questions, enough to make everybody cry. His mom’s concern is that men can’t hold the family together, so it’s up to the daughter-in-laws to get along and handle conflict well. Jake will be asking one of them to marry him, whichever one that is. Jake’s father thinks he probably has met his future daughter-in-law.

Vienna’s up next. Although Jake was nervous about how he told his parents that the other girls hated her, he didn’t have to be. She’s willing to tell that story herself. She finds this all quite amusing. This is one of the more awkward family visits. Everybody is guarded and not particularly impressed. Obviously, his mom worries about her not getting along with girls, given her whole daughter-in-laws and glue theory. After they talk to her, though, they warm up to her, feeling guilty for having judged her so quickly.

Jake and Vienna head to a sulfur spring, where they hop in for a dip and some mud wrestling. When she eloped and got married for three weeks, she broke her dad’s heart, but she eventually realized that it was a stupid decision made by dumb kids. Now she’s really ready to give her heart to someone, and wants to do it with her dad’s blessing. She offers Jake her I’m not going to elope again promise ring as a sign she’s moving on.

Tenley’s date is on a yacht and going snorkeling. Unlike Vienna, who he’s concerned he may be too into for her looks and is not sure whether there’s something deeper there, Jake tells Tenley that he thinks their physical chemistry, whatever that may be, is lacking. Way to make her get all emotional on your last date, dude. He later says that it’s about honesty, whether it makes sense or not.

Tenley gets out of the first limo, er, helicopter. He loves her. But something just doesn’t feel right. She thanks Jake because it felt good to open her heart again. He didn’t feel comfortable being himself with her, instead feeling like he had to be a certain way.

So that means Vienna is The Bachelor 14 winner, or so we can assume. After scaring her by giving her the promise ring back, Jake gets down on one knee and proposes. Well, that oughta piss off some of the chicks who have been eliminated.

The Amazing Race 16 Episode 3

Grandmother and granddaughter Jody & Shannon were eliminated in The Amazing Race 16 Episode 2.

Teams depart in the order in which they arrived, except for the sick Brent & Caite.

First: Jet & Cord – 11:20PM
Second: Joe & Heidi – 11:55PM
Third: Carol & Brandy – 11:55PM
Fourth: Monique & Shawne – 1:22AM
Fifth: Jordan & Jeff – 2:01AM
Sixth: Steve & Allie – 2:23AM
Seventh: Dan & Jordan- 2:25AM
Eighth: Louie & Michael – 3:12AM
Ninth: Brent & Caite: 4:25AM (3 hours and 5 minutes after scheduled departure)

Carol & Brandy say they bicker about the stupidest things, not something which will help them on the race.

Caite’s sick, and Brent may not be far behind. They think it’s either dehydration or food poisoning.

Teams will take 1 of 2 buses on a 6 hour ride through the Andes Mountains into Bariloche, Argentina. Upon arrival, they will drive themselves to an old saloon, El Boliche Viejo, where Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid hid. When they get there, they will have to play a game of 5 card stud against the Travelocity roaming gnome.

The first three teams to arrive will get on the first bus, so it’s pretty well predetermined what the order will be, not that it makes a large difference.

First bus (departs at 8:30AM): Jet & Cord, Joe & Heidi, Carol & Brandy
Second bus (departs at 8:50AM): Monique & Shawne, Jordan & Jeff, Steve & Allie, Dan & Jordan, Louie & Michael, Brent & Caite

Everybody follows the cowboys. Based on the results of the previous leg, they believe they’re strong contenders. Knowing they’re being followed and knowing they have the right directions, Jet & Cord just pull over and let everybody else pass.

Dan & Jordan continue to struggle driving stick. This could well cost them the race at some point.

The next destination is the Pena Gaucha, where the road block is steer roping. This is tailor made to the cowboys, who should now be able to get a comfortable lead back.

Road block: Heidi, Carol, Jet, Jeff, Steve, Shawne, Michael/Louie, Dan, Brent

Teams must then drive themselves to Puente Nirihuau, where they will search the cliffs overlooking the river for their next clue. The cowboys figure that breaking the gnome may be better than breaking their legs, should it come down to a choice between the two.

The detour is a choice between horse sense or horse power. In horse sense, they will use an old time compass to follow coordinates by counting out steps. They will then dig up a bag, and if it matches, they will get their next clue. Counting steps and then digging? Does not sound good. In horse power, teams will play polo using a practice pony and must attempt to score a goal in 9 swings or less.

Horse power: Jet & Cord, Steve & Allie, Carol & Brandy (switched from horse sense), Joe & Heidi (switched from horse sense), Dan & Jordan (switched from horse sense), Brent & Caite, Louie & Michael (switched from horse sense)
Horse sense: Jordan & Jeff, Monique & Shawne (switched from horse power)

Joe’s under the impression that the compass on his watch will help him here. Oh no. Brandy wants Carol to be the leader, kinda, but the bickering does not look like it will end regardless of who the leader is. Jeff & Jordan seem to have figured out the task, except that they don’t know who the lead bandit is. It does not seem as if they’ve read the clue. Luckily, Louie & Michael hand their bag to them on a silver platter. Jeff’s decided that he and Jordan are too stupid to reproduce.

The trailing teams begin to pile up on the horse power detour, creating a battle for last.

The pit stop for this leg of the race is Estancia Fortin Chacabuco, a ranch at the foot of the Andes mountains.

First: Jet & Cord (win a trip to Chile)
Second: Steve & Allie
Third: Carol & Brandy
Fourth: Joe & Heidi
Fifth: Jordan & Jeff
Sixth: Dan & Jordan
Seventh: Brent & Caite
Eighth: Louie & Michael
Eliminated: Monique & Shawne

Finding out that God does not care about the results of the race, Monique & Shawne have been eliminated. And I was so looking forward to the sick whiny people being eliminated instead.

American Idol Season 9 Episode 15

With the completion of performances of the top 12 boys and top 12 girls, America’s votes will send 4 people home. 4 people going home at least means the filler will be somewhat more limited than it usually is.

Siobhan Magnus is safe. Haeley Vaughn is also safe. Michelle Delamor is safe, too. Katelyn Epperly is safe as well. That brings us down to Janell Wheeler or Katie Stevens. Randy does not have an opinion who will go. It’s the end of the road for Janell.

Paige Miles is safe. Lacey Brown is also safe. Lilly Scott is safe. Crystal Bowersox is safe as well. That brings us down to Ashley Rodriguez and Didi Benami. Didi is safe, so Ashley is going home.

Michael Lynche is safe. John Park is also safe. Aaron Kelly is safe. Todrick Hall is safe as well. That leaves Tim Urban and Joe Munoz, the guy who was cut to begin with and the guy who’s had no camera time. Kara would not say this is the right pair to choose from that group. Tim is safe and quite stunned. Joe has been eliminated.

Casey James is safe. Jermaine Sellers is also safe. Lee DeWyze is safe. Andrew Garcia is safe, too. That leaves Tyler Grady and Alex Lambert. Unlike the others, Simon does not wimp out. He thinks it’s over for Tyler. That would be correct. Tyler blames lack of constructive criticism during Hollywood week.

Survivor: Heroes Vs. Villains Episode 3

In the midst of a heroes tribe implosion in Survivor: Heroes Vs. Villains Episode 2, Stephenie was voted off the island.

The heroes are pretending as if they all get along, or at least they’re trying.

JT apologizes to Tom for not having voted along with him. Although Tom feels betrayed, he thinks maybe JT will be able to give him something of a lifeline.

Boston Rob has a tip: watch who people are sleeping with. They’re not going to be sleeping next to the guy they plan to vote off.

Coach says that Russell is walking on very thin ice because Parvati is the most dangerous player on the island. Russell doesn’t take this warning very seriously. Parvati has grown to trust Russell, even though he’s kind of a lunatic.

Russell’s plan to take control of the camp: bury the machete.

Randy has gone out into the water and caught a giant clam. Nobody else is interested in eating it or particularly impressed. With the machete missing, though, he’s going to have to open it with a rock. Once he does open it after much effort, Parvati and Sandra do come up to get some food.

JT is worried that Candice is bigger strategist than he anticipated, so he tells Cirie that she doesn’t trust her. Hearing that, Candice confronts everybody.

The immunity challenge is to square off next to a mud pit with a heavy bag. Reward is luxury items, coffee, and a week’s worth of rice. Courtney and Sandra sit out for the villains. Tom and Russell start things off. Tom gets the easy win. Parvati and Candice go next. Both fall into the mud, but since Candice is on top, heroes take the 2-0 lead. Coach and Rupert are next. Coach wins initially but takes his arm off the bag, so they have a redo in which Rupert takes the 3-0 lead. Cirie takes Jerri down to take the lead 4-0. JT and Tyson go next as the rain is coming down. JT scores again for the heroes. Danielle and Amanda are up next. Amanda puts the heroes up 6-0. Colby and Boston Rob go next, with Colby winning a very physical battle. In what’s probably the final battle, James goes against Randy. James easily wins, and the heroes win immunity. The heroes better hope for more physical challenges like this and no more puzzles.

Randy senses he may be in danger. He fears the other guys are falling for the girls. His target is Parvati because she’s going to meet up with James, Cirie, and Amanda on the other side.

Tyson’s argument is that Randy is not dangerous because he doesn’t have any friends on either side. The counterargument is that Randy’s the weakest link.

True to form, Sandra doesn’t care who goes home as long as it’s not her.

Jerri joins the anti-Parvati bandwagon, hoping to punch her in the face at some point.

Coach says that there’s nobody out there that’s honorable. Except for him. Well, he pretty much needs to be slapped again.

Sandra tells Jeff that sometimes Coach tries to be a leader, then he wanders away. A fair assessment, which Coach takes offense to and blows out of proportion.

Rob has no hope that his tribe will change after tonight’s vote. There’s no sense of urgency to improve camp life.

Knowing he was done for seeing as he cast a vote Rob’s way, Randy has been voted off the island. He doesn’t particularly seem to mind, not having felt part of the tribe anyway.
