The Biggest Loser: Season 3 – Episode 9

November 15th, 2006 – Ha! Try as they might, NBC could not keep me from missing this weeks episode of the Biggest Loser! They even went so far as to schedule it 1-hour early at 8:00pm to try and throw me off again, but not this time, oh no no no, not this time! Of course it helps that I saw last weeks episode and noticed the time change, but that’s beside the point. Anyway, enough of this sham of a conspiracy and on to the gooey-nougaty-caramel filled episode 9 recap!

Find out who threw a huge fit and who didn’t lose a pound after the jump!

The Biggest Loser: Season 3 – Episode 8 Recap

November 8th, 2006 – As a result of some confusion, I ended up watching America’s Next Top Model and missing half of tonight’s episode of the Biggest Loser. I swear I do not remember them mentioning that tonight’s episode would be a 2-hour episode. So, since I missed the first half of the show, I can only recap the last half – but everyone knows that’s when all the important stuff happens anyways. So read on, and find out what happened in episode 8 of the Biggest Loser.

Biggest Loser Recap & Info: Blue Team Dominates

Biggest Loser Episode 6

I missed the first bit of Biggest Loser this week because I was talking to my wife, since she’s still in Nebraska, so I didn’t get to take any notes; however, I did watch the show and can give a pretty good point by point break down of what happened off the top of my head. Ream more after the jump.

Biggest Loser Recap: Amy Eliminated!

In an interesting turn that proved to be a challenge for the Biggest Loser competitors, the gym was completely closed for this weeks episode, though that didn’t keep bobby from jarring the window open and trying to crawl through. Too bad Bob and Kim came running down the road just then, catching him in the act and telling him, and everyone else, that this week’s episode of the Biggest Loser would be gym free. How interesting!

So, with the gym closed, the biggest loser blue team, led by trainer Bob, takes to the outdoors for their workout. Meanwhile, the red team, led by trainer Kim, takes to the indoors and works the stairs for all their good. Kim tells everyone on the team that she’s amazed how much of a difference she can now see in everyone. Everyone, blue and red team alike, are looking great, and Kim is now seeing it in her red team. If that wasn’t enough of a pick-me-up for the red team, Pam manages to get herself into a size LARGE shirt quite comfortably. She hasn’t been able to wear a large, or anything that doesn’t include the work Extra for a long time and she is super excited and, thankfully enough, the other members of her team are excited too.

While training the blue team outdoors, Bob notices that something seems to be holing Erik back and tries to give him a pep talk. Bob really focuses in on getting Erik’s mind cleared and getting him focused on working hard and dropping the pounds. It even looks like it may have worked.

Linda, from Idaho, was one of the oldest people to try out for Biggest Loser at more than 50 years of age. Don’t be fooled though, Linda didn’t let her age get her down. She came to the ranch weighing 214lbs and now weighs 167lbs, for a total weight loss of 47lbs. That’s fantastic for anyone, especially someone more that 50 years old! The older you get, the harder it is to lose weight, but she still managed to kick some ass. Fantastic work Linda!

Biggest Loser Recap: Melinda Eliminated

Thus far both the red and blue teams have lost a total combined weight of 438lbs on NBCs hit reality TV series, the Biggest Loser.

The blue team has decided to take a bit of a new approach to the game, even though they didn’t really have anything to do with it. They’ve decided to sit back and watch the red team self destruct, which they managed to do a pretty darn good job of in the last few episodes.

Because of their own stupidity, the red team lost Nelson on last weeks episode, and their frustrations sure showed. Everyone was down in the dumps, whining and crying, and refusing to do anything of any use. Kim was pissed and told everyone to get off their asses, quit whining and getting running to the gate and back. Kai has the balls to tell Kim she just wants to be left alone and kim tells her she can be alone running to the gate. LOL, Go Kim!

During the run, Ken, emotionally and physically exhausted, stops on the ride of the road, sits down on the curb and breaks down in tears. Poor guy, he’s the only person on the red team that I like anymore, the rest of them are pissing me off.

Kim recognizes that the red team as a whole is quickly imploding on itself and sits everyone down for a chat. She shares some stories and tries to refocus everyone and ends up breaking down herself. Everyone misses Nelson. To be honest, I’m still rather pissed that Nelson went home and the fact that the girls are whining and crying about it really burns me, since it’s their fault to begin with. They were the ones that decided to go the alliance route and were to stupid to think, “hey, maybe the guys will create an alliance amungst themselves to defend against the girls alliance.” Whiners, it’s your own fault, suck it up.

Biggest Loser Recap: Nelson Eliminated

Welly, Welly, Welly my droogies, Wednesday nights reality TV time is done with and now it’s time to recap Biggest Loser. Off we go then, for a little of the old in-out in-out, real horror show.

To date both the Red and Blue teams have lost a combined total weight of 356lbs. That is a huge number to have so early in. This season of the biggest loser is going to be a total success.

The blue teams sitting around sulking, as usual, since they had to get rid of a member on the last episode of biggest loser when Bob walks in and let’s loose a pretty damn cool surprise. Everyone is taking off for a cruise! Is it just me, or have they been going to a lot of different places this season? Thus far they’ve hardly spent any time at the ranch it seems.

As soon as the trainers set foot on the cruise ship a wave of yummy food smells flows over them and the contestants, putting the fear of bad eating and no working out into the trainers. Naturally, to curb that thought right away and to get their minds on something else, Bob takes the blue team for a run around the cruise ship and Kim throws the red team into the pool to swim some laps. Hey, at least you’re working out on a cruise ship and not at the ranch, right? That’s got to be some kind of positive.

Dinner time! The ultimate in healthy eating challenges is about to take place as both teams file into the cruise ships buffet to get a bite to eat. Buffets are notorious for being, shall we say, less than healthy, which is why they’re so damn good and so hard to resist. Both teams, however, managed to cruise the entire buffet, pick up tips from their trainers and get a nice healthy meal out of the deal. Good work guys! Way to curb that temptation and kick it in the face. Wish I had that kind of will power… mmmmm buffet.

Biggest Loser at Home:

Erin of Rhode Island came in to Biggest Loser weighing in at 244lbs. To date, Erin has dropped her weigh to a mere 189lbs, for a total loss of 55lbs! That’s fantastic to do on your own, great work girl, you’re looking awesome!

Biggest Loser 3 Recap: Tiffany Eliminated

This weeks episode of the Biggest Loser 3 kicked off with both the Red and Blue teams getting a bit of a training surprise. Both teams hopped into four gorgeous old Ford Mustangs and headed for the beach, where they would be training. Sand + Exercise = Way harder and lots of sore muscles. Ouchy!

But before leaving for the beach, Ken gets some really sad news from home and learns that his 19 year old son has been in the CCU (critical care unit) for the past three days, likely as a result of an infection due to surgery he received. He pulls Kim out of the room and she comforts him, gives him a big hug and tries to get him back in the game. After that both the blue and red teams get together and pray for Kens son. I’m personally an atheist, but the fact that everyone was willing to sit down together and pray for Ken’s son struck me as very awesome. These people really do care about eachother a lot, it’s a great thing to see people care for each other in a reality TV show, instead of the usual hate, venom and disdain.

The first beach workout for both teams was hardcore. Both Bob and Kim were pushing the red and blue teams to the max and working them like dogs. There was some definite shedding of poundage as a result of this workout.

Temptation Challenge:

  • 20+ sand castles are laid out in a grid, under each sand castle is either a chocolate bar, carrot stick or immunity.
  • Some of the contestants, mainly Pam, consider giving in, in the hopes of finding immunity.
  • In the end, both the red and blue teams refuse to give in and no one from either tribe takes part in the temptation challenge. Good work guys!

Once back from the tempation challenge the Biggest Loser 3 contestants get to have the very first Biggest Loser BBQ. The trainers say that the average calories taken in at a BBQ are around 2,500 and can get even higher, but those calories are required to have a good BBQ. Healthy romaine salads, veggies, fruits and turkey burgers are the nights specialty and everyone enjoys the down time of the BBQ. Once the BBQ is over, the teams get another gem of info, they’ll be sleeping on the beach for the night. Hehe, nice!

Home Contestant Feature:

Adrian from North Dakota has already dropped 4 sizes and is looking and doing really well. Good work Adrian, Keep it up!

Reality TV: Biggest Loser Recap

Tonight was the premiere of NBC’s third season of the Biggest Loser and it was a good one. I already have a few clear favorites and a few strong dislikes. I think this is going to be a really good season and we should be see a whole lotta weight loss. Now, onto the Biggest Loser Recap:

We start off with 50 contestants, one from each state in the US. However, only 14 lucky contestants will get to stay at the Biggest Loser Ranch. The remaining 36 contestants will return to their homes and continue on with exercising and dieting. At the end of the season the two Biggest Loser’s of the 36 will return and compete for the big prize.

Of course, Caroline Rhea returns as the loveable host, with trainer Bob Harper at her side, but the hardcore trainer, Jillian Michaels is no where to be seen. Instead, the newest trainer for the biggest loser is and petty blonde Kim Lions. I hope she’s got as much spunk as Jillian did, she was great!

The show starts off with all 50 contestants lined up along the top of a hill just outside the biggest loser ranch, which makes for quite a site and one heck of a cool intro piece.

It’s announced that all 50 contestants combined consume over 1-million callories a day. That’s over 2 1/2 times the average/needed amount… Wow.

All 50 contestants step onto a massive weight scale and the numbers start flying by, not slowing down until hitting the 13,000 lbs mark. The total weight of all 50 contestants, a staggering 14,384 lbs. Thats a crazy average weight of 287.68 lbs PER PERSON.

All 50 contestants are lined up and set to doing drills right away. Jumping jacks, jogging in place and taebo style stuff while both Bob Harper and Kim Lions run up and down the rows, talking to people and watching for who they want on their teams. After sizing up the contestants, the trainers select their teams and everyone was off to their first individual weigh in’s:

Bob Harper’s Blue Team:

  1. 255lbs – Tiffany, Texas
  2. 321lbs – Bobby, Tennesse
  3. 308lbs – Brian, California
  4. 236lbs – Melinda, Alabama
  5. 365lbs – Marty, Missouri
  6. 260lbs – Amy, Maryland
  7. 407lbs – Erik, New York

Kim Lion’s Red Team:

  1. 358lbs – Ken, Washington
  2. 262lbs – Kai, Alaska
  3. 404lbs – Nelson, Massachusetts
  4. 247lbs – Pam, Indiana
  5. 307lbs – Wylie, Flordia
  6. 223lbs – Heather, Utah
  7. 245lbs – Jennifer, Minnesota
