High School Musical Reality Show on ABC

High School Musical, which has smashed records since its Disney Channel release and been one of the key factors behind the resurgence of Disney, will be making its way to network TV, reports Variety. A new reality show with a High School Musical concept, will feature a nationwide talent hunt followed by a group of contestants studying at a music conservatory. The series is expected to air this summer on ABC.

Contestants will be eliminated each week until a final winner is chosen. The show will include High School Musical-themed moments, with appearances by the cast of High School Musical likely.

The CW Fall Renewals

The CW has renewed Everybody Hates Chris, One Tree Hill, Gossip Girl, America’s Next Top Model, Smallville, and Supernatural for the fall season. The entire Sunday night lineup (CW Now, Online Nation, and Life Is Wild) is now dead… my suggestion for next year is to not even bother trying. Friday Night WWE Smackdown has ended its deal with The CW and will instead be airing on News Corp’s MyNetworkTV. I’m assuming Beauty and the Geek, which premieres in its 5th season next week, will get another season, and hoping Reaper doesn’t get lost in the shuffle just because of its male-skewing audience.

Big Brother 9 Episode 9

The house unanimously decided to get rid of Alex & Amanda in Big Brother 9 Episode 8. Following that, Joshuah & Sharon won HOH.

Allison wanted to target Alex & Amanda, though they edited it to make it look like she was the one who was targeting Matt & Natalie, so Joshuah is upset with Allison and wants her gone. Allison is disappointed that Josh is such a sore winner, which he carries on by throwing insults at her like they’re in third grade. Ultimately, he does draw it back to the fact that she faked being a lesbian. He’s got a valid reason for being upset by that, which as I said was a stupid idea from the beginning… but he’s approaching it completely the wrong way. Like the prior HOH’s, he’s failing to realize he only has HOH for one week. The good news for him is that nobody else in the house really likes Allison either.

Allison lashes out against Matt and Ryan for not having stuck up against her. As if the guilt trip is going to make her any happier.

Big Brother plays a prank on Sharon, bringing in a picture of her and Jacob. Joshuah gets a princess tiara… except this isn’t a prank. He’s thrilled by his tiara.

Despite the fact that Sheila pretended to be a lesbian and also was the one who was reluctant to tell the truth, Joshuah is cool with her. He just hates Allison, who at this point seems to be in a state of not caring less.

Natalie’s trying to get Matt to fall for her, but he just keeps pushing her away and does not want to get emotionally attached.

Remember last week when two people went to the hospital with food-related problems? You know that means. It’s time for another food challenge. The girls dress in asparagus unitards for the challenge. Teams must load asparagus into crates that matches the amount of weight of their partners, within 10 pounds. Everybody’s working together. Matt & Natalie are unable to win the carbs and feast, but they win everything else, so hopefully it will be enough to keep the ambulance away for this week.

Allison decides to provoke Joshuah into another fight. They have a battle of wits, but neither is particularly well armed. Since she’s fighting back, he’s not as interested in fighting, though. He wants peace in the house. Huh? Then he calls a house meeting with the exclusion of Ryan & Allison. The rest of the house wants Allison gone. I’m surprised she’s even survived this long. Ryan’s not impressed with her either, but he’s stuck with her.

Allison goes upstairs to talk to Joshuah because she believes she can patch things up. She apologizes. He tells her to win or go home.

Everybody’s concerned about being the pawn.

Nominations
Adam & Sheila-Safe
James & Chelsia-Safe

Ryan & Allison and Matt & Natalie have been nominated for eviction. Matt’s pissed. Again.

Big Brother 9 Spoilers

Following on the heels of the success of last year’s Comic Relief Does The Apprentice and also this year’s US version, a UK version of The Celebrity Apprentice, Sports Relief Does The Apprentice, will air Wednesday March 12 and Friday March 14 on BBC One to raise money for Sports Relief. Sir Alan Sugar and his aides Nick Hewer and Margaret Mountford will all be back. Teams will be divided into boys and girls and will need to stock their shops to earn the highest profit.

The girls team consists of Clare Balding, Lisa Snowdon, Jacqueline Gold, Kirstie Allsopp, and Louise Redknapp. The boys team consists of Phil Tufnell, Lembit Opik MP, Kelvin MacKenzie, Hardeep Singh Kohli, and Nick Hancock.

As with last year, it is anticipated that The Apprentice UK Series 4 will premiere shortly after the celebrity version ends.

Big Brother 9 Adam Was Busted for Marijuana Possession

The punches just keep coming for this season’s Big Brother cast. Adam Jasinski earlier in the season caused a stir for calling autistic people “retards.” Since that time, he has been fired from his job following a campaign by Autism United, a group that has used the situation to boost the visibility of its cause and demanded that CBS cancel Big Brother 8 (I think they mean Big Brother 9, although I wouldn’t have been entirely opposed to BB8 being cancelled considering the train wreck it was).

Now, Star Magazine has uncovered some more dirt on Adam. He was arrested and convicted after being charged with possession of more than 20 pounds of marijuana. He was first busted at his E 33rd St. apartment in Manhattan on February 10, 2004, when they found a package containing more than 10 pounds of pot. The next day, an additional 10 pound package was found.

Adam certainly isn’t alone amongst the Big Brother alumni. Multiple others have records. Probably the most famous case of a rap sheet is Janelle Pierzina from Big Brother 6 and 7. In 2000, she was arrested for DWI, failed to appear for her arraignment but pled guilty a year later, failed to complete the alcohol education course, failed to show up for court for that as well, but finally it all came to an end 4 years after the fact when she showed up and was reassigned to alcohol education and probation. During that time frame, she was also busted for petty theft from Macy’s, this time ignoring two bench warrants for her arrest before finally cooperating with the third one just before heading into the Big Brother house.

Scrubs Moving to ABC?

Sources have told Hollywood Reporter that ABC is in negotations with ABC Studios, the production company behind Scrubs, to pick up 18 episodes of the series. NBC is said to have been caught off guard and is itself in negotations with the studio. The show, which has aired on NBC since 2001, is probably close to its end regardless of whatever battle may break out between the two networks.

NBC still has 5 original episodes of the series that it will start airing on April 10.

Quarterlife Cancelled

After just one episode, NBC has pulled the plug on the Quarterlife, the show that started online. Following its debut Tuesday at 10PM to the network’s lowest ratings in that timeslot in 17 years, even the show’s creator didn’t sugarcoat it, saying it was a mistake to even try to put this on network television. NBC still stands by the risk, though, saying it was a cheap venture and worth a shot.

American Idol 7 Episode 15

I know. I’m out of order again. I blame Fox. But you can check out this week’s results here.

Carly Smithson works at an Irish bar (she kinda sorta has an Irish accent to show she fits right in) and loves her home. She sings Crazy on You.

Randy-Good towards the end.
Paula-Takes a fine singer to sing those big notes.
Simon-Much better performance than last week. Doesn’t think yet she’s connected with the right song. Thinks she’s an incredible singer who’s the girl to beat if she picks the right song.

Syesha Mercado has done some acting. She sings Me and Mr. Jones.

Randy-Not a great song choice because it’s too soft.
Paula-Agrees she tends to go off pitch on the softer notes, but Paula likes it.
Simon-Indulgent. Silly singing a song originally entitled Me and Mrs. Jones. Not really designed for her voice.

Brooke White went to beauty school, but while there, she discovered music half way through the program. She’s playing her guitar and sings You’re So Vain, an example of a good song choice. Even if she may not have the strongest voice, she has the total package it takes to go far in this competition.

Randy-Great song choice. Was she looking at Simon and singing this song to him?
Paula-Perfect song choice.
Simon-Absolutely loved it.

Ramiele Malubay used to Polynesian dance when she was little. We might see her dancing on stage at some point. Maybe. She sings Don’t Leave Me This Way.

Randy-A little rough. Just okay. Weird song choice.

Kristy Lee Cook likes to be a tomboy and does outdoorsy stuff. She sings You’re No Good, another good song choice.

Randy-100% improvement over last week but not quite a breakout performance.
Paula-Kristy’s back. Good song choice.
Simon-Huge improvement but doesn’t know how to label her. Thinks she’ll be better if she goes down more of a country route.

Amanda Overmyer tends to be a bookworm. She sings Carry on My Wayward Son. When she’s rocking it works for the most part, but the lower notes really don’t.

Randy-Wasn’t the right song choice for her. Way too much melody and instrumental breaks.
Paula-Gotta do what fits right.
Simon-Everything felt contrived. None of it felt natural. Ugly song.

Alaina Whitaker doesn’t like the food on her plate to touch each other. A very Kelly Pickler kind of story. She sings Hopelessly Devoted.

Randy-Didn’t think it was the right song. Too restrained.
Paula-Real good job.
Simon-Almost as if her grandmother prepared her for the audition, but she’s one of the dark horses in the competition.
Ryan-Heels and blue dresses aren’t my thing.

Alexandrea Lushington sings If You Leave Me Now.

Randy-So safe. Boring.
Paula-Did make it her own.
Simon-Was a big fan in the early stages. Song is stuck in its time period. Inconsistent performance. Boring.

Kady Malloy can also sing opera, not just Britney Spears. Tonight she’s singing Magic Man, whatever that’s about.

Randy-Very interesting song choices tonight. Never quite found the notes.
Paula-Sounded great on the powered notes. Not quite sure who she is.
Simon-Fantastic on film. Didn’t go anywhere on stage.

Asia’h Epperson was a cheerleader through middle and high school. She sings All By Myself, a song that could easily go either way.

Randy-Really good job considering the difficulty
Paula-Tada. Problems in the low notes but the ending brought it home.
Simon-Not a good enough singer to pull it off. Shouldn’t have attempted it. Silly decision.
