The Biggest Loser Season 13 Episode 9

In one of the most ridiculous displays in the history of the show, the entire black team threw the weigh-in in The Biggest Loser Season 13 Episode 8 in an effort to get rid of Daphne, who also gained weight for the sake of leaving the house and drama, a request her team happily granted.

Alison warns them they’re not done yet, and she calls the red team into the elimination room. It’s time to face all of their excuses. Everybody is going home tomorrow. They will be there for 18 days. This long time could perhaps negate the black team’s huge advantage of having lost next to nothing last week. For each person who loses 5% of their body weight, that person will be immune. If everybody accomplishes this goal, there will be no elimination.

Their challenge is to row 10,000 meters. Reward is $1 per meter. Rowing machines are delivered to each of their homes so they can begin right now. Chism is the first to hit 3000 meters, and Kim is behind him. Jeremy mostly just wants to beat his sister sitting next to him. Mark started off slower than the others but manages to overtake Kim. At the 7300 mark, he starts to look to take the lead from his son. They’re neck and neck heading into the final 1000. What happens after that, we’ll have to wait to find out.

With the challenge over, so begins the lengthy discussion of how everything is a temptation.

When they return to the ranch, before they weigh in, they get the results of the competition. Places 4-11 are Emily, Jeremy, Megan, Conda, Kimmy, Cassandra, Buddy, and Chris. Chism beats his dad by 7 seconds, and Kim places third.

Buddy: 294 pounds (-23, 7.26%, immune)
Jeremy: 289 pounds (-20, 6.47%, immune)
Kimmy: 169 pounds (-10, 5.59%, immune)
Mark: 215 pounds (-11, 4.87%)
Kim: 186 pounds (-7, 3.63%)
Red Total: 1153 pounds (-71, 5.80%)

Conda: 231 pounds (-14, 5.71%, immune)
Emily: 199 pounds (-17, 7.87%, immune)
Megan: 205 pounds (-12, 5.53%, immune)
Chris: 185 pounds (-11, 5.61%, immune)
Cassandra: 175 pounds (-13, 6.91%, immune)
Chism: 282 pounds (-11, 3.75%)
Black Total: 1277 pounds (-78, 5.76%)

After the black team loses by 1 pound, as the only person without immunity on his team, Chism has been eliminated. His father begs them to let him fall on his sword instead, but those are the rules. If he really wanted things to be different, he should have thrown the weigh in. Chism realizes this is inevitable and accepts that he will just have to keep going at home.

The Celebrity Apprentice 5 Episode 2

Raising her hand to be fired, Cheryl Tiegs made Trump’s decision easy in The Celebrity Apprentice 5 Episode 1.

Victoria warns them they all better watch out. And sleep with one eye open they presume. She tells them every last one of them is a bitch.

This week’s task is to create a 15 minute Medieval Times show. Ivanka is not around this week, but James Lipton is. He tells us he’s a knight.

Penn is nominated as the project manager for the men; Lisa will be the PM for the women. Adam is away from the men’s team. He has to host a wedding. As good excuses go, I would not suggest that one.

Lisa quickly warns her team not to interrupt her.

The women decide to be The Unreal Housewives of Camelot, who are vying for the affection of Donald Trump. This doesn’t seem particularly suitable after they just got done talking to the executive, who told them this is a family show. Dayana tries to express that concern, but Lisa doesn’t want to hear it. Oh, and by the way, they want Dayana to wear a nude body suit. Granted, this is exactly what Trump said he wanted to see. Everybody gets a role other than Victoria, who is relegated to sound and lighting.

The men will be using their star power. Aresnio is a host, along with the man with the big voice, Penn. Clay will sing. Paul rides on a motorcycle that looks like it’s from the medieval days, if they had motorcycles then. The macho men Lou and Paul will joust for the hand of the fair maiden, Dee Snyder. Ultimately, they have no real plot. It’s just a bunch of celebrities telling jokes.

While they’re choosing outfits, Lisa goes crazy. She thought she told them not to interrupt her.

The next morning, feeling as if she’s being ignored, Victoria threatens to leave and join the men’s team. Lisa pretends that Victoria is the most important person of the day to make her feel better.

Nobody wants to listen to Dayana, who has decided that all they want her to do is sit on a horse and look good, which Lisa says is all she’s good at.

Clay’s struggle with George is that he’s not following the script. He agrees to read from it.

As Dee rides the horse into the arena, he stumbles off. He thinks he broke a finger. The EMT says he needs to go to the hospital, but the show must go on.

Back from the hospital, Dee’s diagnose is a severe fracture, and he may have to get a pin put in it.

In spite of the tension, Victoria says that she thinks Lisa did a fabulous job.

Paul says that Penn was phenomenal, and Michael agrees.

Penn says that everyone was great, but he’ll play by the rules. If they lose, he will bring back Lou and George, who are less versatile than the rest of the team because they’re actors. Lou is insulted. Nothing Trump likes more than pointless manufactured drama. George, however, still admires Penn.

Arsenio would fire Penn, who created and ran the whole show.

Lisa would definitely bring Victoria back, and she has a lengthy explanation to support it. Her next target is Dayana, who she doesn’t feel can do anything other than shop and be pretty.

Patricia would fire someone who came up with the concept: Lisa or her right hand girl Aubrey.

Debbie points out something, or at least tries to before she gets cut off. Like the rest of the week, 5 people are not saying much while the others are doing all the talking.

The men received 558 votes; the women received 363 votes. Penn receives $40,000 for his charity, Opportunity Village.

Don Jr. thinks the women appealed to the men in the crowd, but lacked the diversity to appeal to the entire audience, which was at least 1/4-1/2 children, a fact they were entirely aware of but chose to ignore in their quest to focus on hot babes and Jersey.

Patricia has a different answer now. She would fire Victoria. Aubrey would fire Dayana. Dayana and Victoria would fire Lisa.

Unsurprisingly, Dayana and Victoria are going back to the boardroom with Lisa.

Don Jr. doesn’t understand why Dayana is being brought back, but he could see either of the other two being fired.

So begins much yelling and crying.

Once the fighting is done, Dayana says that Lisa has tried to be heard more and has more energy. With that in mind and the fact that Victoria thought about quitting the team, Victoria has been fired. Great, now we get to listen to Lisa yell at some more people.

The Amazing Race 20 Episode 2

After wandering around the pit stop for a while in The Amazing Race 20 Episode 1, Misa & Maiya were eliminated.

Teams depart in the order in which they arrived.

First: Dave & Rachel – 2:46AM
Second: Rachel & Brendon – 2:48AM
Third: Art & JJ – 2:49AM
Fourth: Nary & Jamie – 3:21AM
Fifth: Vanessa & Ralph – 3:31AM
Sixth: Elliott & Andrew – 4:21AM
Seventh: Kerri & Stacy – 5:23AM
Eighth: David & Cherie – 5:27AM
Ninth: Bopper & Mark – 5:29AM
Tenth: Joey & Danny – 5:35AM

At the Cafayate Town Square, they will receive their next clue from a mounted postman, who arrives at sunrise, equalizing everybody.

The detour is a choice between boil my water or light my fire. In boil my water, they will visit one of three isolated villages and provide them with a means of cooking, assembling a basic solar kitchen, then boiling water with it. In light my fire, they will gather firewood and clay, load it on a donkey, and transport it 1 mile. Working with animals is always problematic, but I could see where constructing something just based on the picture and then being at the mercy of the sun could be trouble.

Boil my water: Brendon & Rachel, Kerri & Stacy, Rachel & Dave, Vanessa & Ralph, Dave & Cherie, Joey & Danny, Bopper & Mark, Nary & Jamie, Elliott & Andrew
Light my fire: Art & JJ

Art & JJ are the only ones who did not select the solar kitchen building, and they find themselves searching for the fire task instead after everyone else has already begun. They assume it will be hard because it’s too early for the sun to be of much use, while those actually on the task complain about how hot it is. For all the drama, it pays off because they manage to leapfrog everybody but the country boys, who surprised even themselves by taking the lead with their building skills. The rest of the teams are mostly just waiting for their tea to boil.

Teams will now take an 18 hour bus ride to Buenos Aires.

First bus: Brendon & Rachel, Mark & Bopper, Art & JJ, Rachel & Dave
Second bus: Dave & Cherie, Elliott & Andrew, Vanessa & Ralph, Joey & Danny
Third bus: Kerri & Stacy, Nary & Jamie

All the teams are pretty close, so now it’s just a question of how this lengthy bus ride goes. Bus 2 stops in the middle of the night when one of their windows implodes. Bus 1 arrives first, followed by bus 3. The trailing teams reveal they have been delayed about 2 hours, which is going to be too much for them to make up, so one of them is heading home.

The road block is to count cattle and calculate the average weight per head during an auction, without using their calculators. Long division without Excel. Like the olden days.

Road block (in order of arrival): Rachel, JJ, Rachel, Mark, Stacy, Nary, Vanessa, Joey, Dave, Andrew

Rachel and JJ work together to get the answer. The other Rachel (Big Brother) gets stressed out. You don’t say. Eventually she decides to work with Mark, who unlike Art & JJ who have decided they hate Rachel & Brendon, is willing to team up. The teams who tried to play like this against Rob & Amber regretted it, though that was arguably because those teams sucked. The Jersey guys and the twins also work together, leaving the clown to eat their dust.

The pit stop for this leg of the race is El Gomero, a 200 year old tree.

First: Rachel & Dave (win a trip to Grenada)
Second: Art & JJ
Third: Bopper & Mark
Fourth: Brendon & Rachel
Fifth: Kerri & Stacy
Sixth: Nary & Jamie
Seventh: Vanessa & Ralph
Eighth: Joey & Danny
Ninth: Elliott & Andrew
Eliminated: Dave & Cherie

After a bit of bad luck, Dave & Cherie have been eliminated from the race, but they depart with their typically positive attitude.

Survivor: One World Episode 2

Following a stupidly dangerous competition in Survivor: One World Episode 1, Kourtney was eliminated for medical reasons.

The guys took care of the ladies’ fire while they were gone. Kat is confident she did not need that help from them. If you say so.

Alicia pretends to make up with Christina, who told her to shut up at tribal council.

The next morning, Sabrina makes the mistake of opening up her mouth. They appoint her leader.

Nina finds the younger girls too immature for her. Therein lies the problem. Down 5-3, the older women are going to struggle to find a place in the tribe.

Treemail is a large box. It’s a do it yourself reward challenge. The first tribe to untie all the knots will win a tarp. Earlier, one of the girls was saying something about not wanting to untie knots. Mike sits out for the men. The men win the challenge.

Colton has no plans to make any effort to either fit into his tribe or do any work at camp with them. He hopes to fit in with the girls instead, but they are getting tired of him. Sabrina calls a fake meeting as a reason for him to leave. Later, he returns, tears in his eyes, begging for them to let him stick around. They are not interested.

Troyzan finds out from Colton that he’s got a hidden idol. The enemy of my enemy is my friend. They want to get rid of the muscle. Normally this would be a stupid plan, but they really don’t need the extra muscle on this tribe, at least not for challenges, though they could use the speed and other physical attribues that go along with it.

The players all line up on balance beams at the immunity challenge. The person on the far end must make their way past all the others without touching more than one person at a time, continuing until everybody is on the platform. Tarzan sits out for the men. The men let the little person go first. On the other side, Kat has difficulty getting past all the fake boobs, so she decides to go behind the girls instead. Christina, who is not even in the challenge yet, keeps touching two people. Kat, struggling to understand the rules of the game, twice jumps into the water for no reason. Monica switches with Kat, and they finally get someone across, but by this point it’s a lost cause, as they’re down by 5. Unsurprisingly, in a challenge requiring teamwork, men win immunity.

Nina uses Kat’s mistakes as a reason to whine and keep calling her a dumb broad and other assorted names that just seem to come from being an angry person. She slams her tribe for being led by witless people, but it’s not as if they would be any better off if she were in charge. On the contrary, her mouth seems like it would be even more problematic in that scenario.

Chelsea and Sabrina say they would form different alliances if given a second chance.

Christina doesn’t even really want to play the game.

With 4 votes, Nina has been voted off the island. Good riddance. The camera’s been on her for the last 10 minutes, which got old about 9 minutes ago. Monica, who’s hopeful that perhaps there is some middle ground for her, threw a stray vote Christina’s way.

The Biggest Loser Season 13 Episode 8

After losing 9 pounds in The Biggest Loser Season 13 Episode 7, Roy was told by his team that he is not committed to losing weight.

This week’s excuse: lack of self control.

Today, they have a choice. They can control themselves, or they can control this entire game. Sounds like a temptation. On the rotating table ahead of them are their favorite foods. There’s pasta, donuts, Reese’s, Chinese food, the full list of the bad foods that got them where they are today (in doses of double or triple what a normal person would eat). Kimmy loves deer meat. Deer burgers, deer kabobs, deer stew, deer creole, that’s about all I have to say about that. The person who eats the most in 3 minutes can change the teams however they want, and that person will remain anonymous, at least for now.

Mark: 2 plates of venison for 312 calories
Chris: Peanutbutter cups and pizza for 1039 calories
Chism: Nothing
Kimmy: Nothing
Conda: Nothing
Megan: Nothing
Kim: Peanutbutter cups for 210 calories
Emily: Nothing
Cassandra: Pizza and peanutbutter cups for 619 calories (while dramatically shaking the whole time)
Jeremy: Nothing
Daphne: Peanutbutter cups and more peanutbutter cups and more peanutbutter cups for a total of 1890 calories

Daphne is the clear winner, about which nobody would be surprised. She decided to change things. A little. She adds a drama queen to her team and sends her brother to the other team in her place. Jeremy heads to the red team; Conda heads to the black team. That’s it. Very strange. There does not seem to be any strategy or logic behind this move. Her explanation: it was personal. Daphne denies eating, in spite of every finger in the house pointing her way.

They arrive at a shipyard. Each team has a giant puzzle, which they must solve, moving around each of the 200 pound puzzle pieces. Following the switch, the black team is now down to 1 guy with 6 women, giving them a big strength disadvantage, though that doesn’t seem terribly critical in this challenge. Every member of the winning team gets 2 weeks at The Biggest Loser Resort. Daphne immediately volunteers to sit out for the black team, and Chris will sit out as well. Mark will be the eyes for his team; Chism will be the eyes for his team. It’s father against son, but it eventually becomes clear that Chism has no clue what he’s doing. Red team wins the challenge.

Bob suggests that Daphne tell the truth. It’s not like some great big secret seeing as everybody in the house knows. She reluctantly apologizes to people who don’t want to hear what she has to say.

Daphne is under the impression her team is purposely trying to lose the weigh in so that they get rid of her. She is not wrong. Someone needs to be smart about this because the person with the highest percentage of weight loss on the losing team is immune. If Daphne’s the only one making any effort, that will be her.

Jeremy: 309 pounds (-11, 3.44%)
Kim: 193 pounds (-7, 3.50%)
Mark: 226 pounds (-8, 3.42%)
Kimmy: 179 pounds (-5, 2.72%)
Buddy: 317 pounds (-12, 3.65%)
Red Total: 1224 pounds (-43, 3.39%)

Chris: 196 pounds (-5, 2.49%)
Megan: 217 pounds (-2, 0.91%)
Chism: 293 pounds (-5, 1.68%)
Cassandra: 188 pounds (-1, 0.53%)
Emily: 216 pounds (-2, 0.92%)
Conda: 246 pounds (+1, 0.41%)
Daphne: 226 pounds (+2, 0.89%)
Black Total: 1582 pounds (-12, 0.75%)

I was fully prepared to call the black team dumbasses for following Conda’s ridiculously stupid plan to throw the weigh in, which was on course to fail miserably. With Daphne also throwing the weigh in, she’s done. If ever there were no need for either a vote or any discussion, this is it.

Votes
Chris: Chism
Cassandra: Daphne
Emily: Daphne
Megan: Daphne
Daphne: Conda
Conda: Daphne

With 4 votes, Daphne is not The Biggest Loser. So ends a stupid week with much pointless arguing. From her starting weight of 271 pounds, Daphne is now down to 200 pounds.
