Big Brother 12 Episode 15

Matt won HOH in Big Brother 12 Episode 14, and unlike his first throw away nominations, he put Brendon and Rachel on the block. We were also greeted by the thoroughly lame saboteur twist again, with Ragan taking the power.

Brendon tries to kiss Rachel. She backs away. As usual. Stop trying already.

The contestants are given the opportunity to practice for the veto competition. Rather than practice, Rachel would prefer to cry. Uh. It’s just bowling. Brendon has to talk her into stopping her whining for the time being. They stay up into the wee hours of the morning practicing. It’s not as if they have much choice but to win. Granted, if one of them wins, the other is going home anyway.

It’s time to pick players for the veto competition.

Matt chooses Kathy at random.
Rachel chooses Britney at random.
Brendon chooses Enzo as houseguest’s choice.

Jeff and Jordan will be the hosts of the competition. They’re apparently still a couple. Jeff’s there to promote his show on CBS.com. Jordan’s there because, well, she knows Jeff.

There are 10 pins to be knocked down. They must knock a pin down in order to reveal another pin, and then knocking down the second of the two will clear them. Rachel knocks down 6 pins in 45 seconds. Rachel challenges Kathy, who eliminates Rachel by scoring 7 with a good amount of dumb luck. Realizing he’s blown it, Brendon only knocks down 3 pins. He challenges Britney, who eliminates him by scoring 5. Now it’s Brendon’s turn for a tantrum. Britney beats Enzo 9-8. Matt beats Ragan 9-7. Britney beats Kathy 8-7. In the final round, Britney beats Matt 10-7 to win the power of veto.

After the competition, Rachel would like to yell at Kathy for a while. She doesn’t like that Kathy celebrated when she beat her. Kathy’s not going to apologize because she didn’t do anything wrong. No matter how many times Rachel asks her again and again and again. This is just pitiful.

Ragan, please go to the diary room for your first sabotage. He has to turn Brendon and Rachel against each other. His message is that Brendon has been throwing competitions. Lame. Britney interprets the message as meaning that the saboteur wants them to target Brendon. The theory is that Rachel is the saboteur.

Rachel’s offer for Britney is $5,000 if she uses the veto. Not interested, and whoever is removed isn’t going to matter because the other one’s going anyway.

Rachel calls Britney a friend at the veto ceremony. Brendon has an alternative strategy. He calls Britney a selfish spoiled brat. Needless to say, Britney does not use the power of veto. Is he trying to throw the game so that Rachel stays? Seems he is.

America’s Got Talent Season 5 Episode 21

Murray, Taylor Mathews, Prince Poppycock, and ArcAttack advanced in America’s Got Talent Season 5 Episode 20. Tonight the Youtube acts perform. Apparently this year they realized that Myspace is passe.

PLUtonic is a group of student a cappella singers from Tacoma, Washington. Dressed in bow ties and sweater vests, they realize they’re geeks. Piers found that to be like being hit over the head with a big slab of cheddar, but he liked it. Sharon thought their performance was very good and confident, although she hates a cappella groups.

Dylan Plummer jumps rope, which is actually a sport and does not involve any singing in rhymes. Howie believes that was really good, but it needs time to be perfected. Piers was surprised that was entertaining.

Pup is an accordian playing dog. I hope this goes over better than Laika, the dog from Britain’s Got Talent who “played” the guitar, although that was amusing to watch. No. It doesn’t. It’s also not as funny without Simon. Piers buzzes. Howie gives a standing ovation. Piers claims that he saw Pup playing at a high level for about 10 seconds. Really? Sharon blames technical hitches.

Cam Hodges is a guitar playing singer who initially wanted to hide his talent. Piers was reminded, in parts, of James Blunt (from his home country). Howie thinks he made that unique, and he’s got a real shot considering how well he did on his first time out.

Ryan Rodriguez is a dancing plumber. Tonight he will opt to do the dance, rather than to install a tub. Piers buzzes. I don’t get it. There’s probably some talent in there somewhere, but it’s all quite chaotic. After telling Piers to shut up, Sharon tells Ryan he needs to get a group of others to put together an act. Howie doesn’t know what that was. Piers doesn’t get it either. He just knows that wasn’t dancing.

Austin Anderson is an auto mechanic comedian. Piers quickly buzzes him. He becomes mildly funny after a rough start. Howie wanted something more relateable than jokes about Facebook, which only has half a billion users (albeit mostly there to play Farmville).

Booker Forte is a hip hop dancer. Piers buzzes again because it was just nice, and his backing dancers were better than he is. Sharon’s seen it all before.

Pizza Patt tosses pizzas whereever he goes. Piers hates him just based on the video, and he buzzes. This hapens before Patt takes some flaming pizza dough. Sharon enjoyed the new form of juggling. Howie sees this all the time in pizzeria windows.

Kristina Young is a singer from South Dakota. She sings Carrie Underwood’s Before He Cheats, which for some reason requires dancers to be on stage with her. Howie thought that was good, although he doesn’t know if it was good enough. Piers goes one step further: it was not good enough, although it was not bad. At least he didn’t buzz her.

Maestro Alexander Bui is a 16 year old piano player, who practices 6-8 hours a day. Any time left to be a kid? We hear an X, and for a change it comes from Sharon. Magnificent… but boring. Piers says he’s the most naturally talented person all year. He tells him to ignore Sharon, but she’s not wrong. Something more relateable than classical music would give him a better shot.

Dan Sperry wants to show us the dark side of magic. He says he’s against things that are mainstream, which we can tell by the piercings/tattoos/assorted gothicness. He takes a mint and chews it. Hopefully there’s a point to all this. Then he gets out some floss. Wait. What? The floss is for his neck, and he pulls out a full mint. Howie runs away in terror, causing Sharon to laugh uncontrollably.

Jackie Evancho is the final contestant of the night. This 10 year old singer was chosen by Youtube audience votes. Wow. Is that voice really coming from that little girl? The rest of the night may have been a bust, but here’s someone who came out of nowhere to potentially give everybody else a run for their money. Howie says this is the moment they were hoping for with this show. Piers calls that one of the most extraordinary performances ever on this show.

Hell’s Kitchen Season 7 Winner

Following Ben’s complete meltdown and Autumn’s eventual elimination in Hell’s Kitchen Season 7 Episode 14, we were presented with a final two: Jay Santos and Holli Ugalde. One of them will the Hell’s Kitchen season 7 winner.

Ramsay takes the final two out. They’re wondering what the catch is. They run into hundreds of people cheering, and it’s the final challenge. They have one hour to cook five dishes, to be judged by five executive chefs from England. Jay gets the first point. The point for the cold appetizer is awarded to Holli. For the hot app round, Holli scores again. Winning the fish round, Jay ties it 2-2. In the tiebreaker, Jay wins the challenge.

Some friends/enemies have returned to fill out their kitchens. Having won the challenge, Jay will pick first.

Jay’s team: Ben, Jason, Fran
Holli’s team: Autumn, Nilka, Siobhan

Autumn’s worried that she will be buried by Siobhan’s lack of skill. She hopes she can get together enough money to go to cooking school.

On Jay’s team, Ben intends to take over to the extent he can. He still thinks he’s better than Holli and everybody else, in spite of the fact that he fell flat on his face for multiple weeks in a row before finally quitting.

Holli warns her team that she’s probably going to be a bitch. Thanks for the heads up.

Holli starts off by tripping over her words. Once she gets the order out, Siobhan immediately starts struggling. Jay hasn’t been left entirely untouched. On his side, he’s got to deal with Fran, who’s burning her scallops. With Siobhan still struggling, Autumn decides to take over for her on appetizers. Fran, however, is managing to hold her own for now.

Jason delivers some undercooked lamb. Ben’s suggestion is that Jay should follow his style and call him an idiot. Jay realizes that Jason does not react well to yelling, so he’d rather be calm and not get into an argument.

Nilka’s never cooked venison before, so this will be a a trial and error experience for her.

Autumn’s trying to do too many things. She doesn’t want any help. Nobody knows what they’re doing. There’s the team spirit.

Jay’s team finishes first, with Holli’s team not far behind.

After the service, Ramsay reviews the customer comment cards, and he’s made a decision. Both chefs stand in front of their doors. The chef whose door opens will become the winner and will be the head chef at the Savoy in London.

Holli certainly put forth a strong effort and made it further than anybody expected, but it would seem the outcome is not going to be her winning. It would seem wrong. Holli Ugalde is the Hell’s Kitchen season 7 winner. Ramsay explains that her victory is because she’s grown more than anybody else.

Big Brother 12 Episode 14

In spite of Kristen’s warning about the Brigade, the others voted her out in Big Brother 12 Episode 13, leaving the 4 person alliance pretty well in charge of the house. We left off at the start of an endurance competition for HOH.

Hayden wants nothing more than to win HOH so that he can send Brendon & Rachel home because Kristen deserved to be there a lot more than they do. I’ll have to take his word for that because she’s been invisible the whole time, both in terms of competitions and strategy. If not for their showmance, I wouldn’t have even known she was in the house.

Kathy is the first person out of the competition at 12 minutes. She says she’s doing it for the house. Her strategy apparently is to pretend that she sucks, but ultimately I don’t think she’s really doing much pretending. As the first person to fall, she is the only have not for the week.

Enzo falls at 26 minutes, comfortable in the fact that his allies will be there to do the dirty work for him.

At 36 minutes, Brendon drops, answering the prayers of the whole house. Rachel is angry with him because she’s won a couple of multiple guess competitions. She tells him he did a good job, but he doesn’t believe she’s sincere, mostly because she’s not.

Lane drops at 46 minutes. Britney falls shortly thereafter, rationalizing it by claiming she threw it. Hayden is gone seconds later.

This leaves Ragan and Matt once again to battle for the endurance HOH win. After 1 hour and 10 minutes, Ragan drops, giving another HOH win to Matt. Let’s see if he throws this one away like last time.

Rachel’s theory is that she’s the target because she won HOH twice. Regardless, he’s still viewed as the bigger threat, whether she got lucky at a couple competitions or not. She keeps pushing Brendon away, as usual, and for some reason he’s unsuccessfully trying to patch things up with her.

Matt sees Pandora’s box. Is he going to open it? Knowing Matt, I’d say yes. That is the correct guess. He now has the diamond power of veto, which will allow him to save himself or someone else on the block and nominate the replacement. He can use this at one of the next two evictions and must keep it a secret. This power allows his head to swell even bigger than it already is, in spite of the fact that he really hasn’t done anything yet except run his mouth a lot.

His lie explaining what happened is that his reward for opening the box is a dollar. Nobody believes him, except for Enzo, but he doesn’t think they buy it anyway.

Good thing they offered it to who they did because that means that CBS now has the opportunity to proceed again with the twist that blew up in their faces week 1 (because it was stupid). Ragan is offered the opportunity to be the new saboteur. His reward for pulling off three sabotages per week for the next two weeks and surviving the next two evictions would be $20,000. He has opted to do it because America voted for him (20 grand doesn’t hurt either). I hope he gets voted out this week just to screw over the twist.

When Rachel comes to make her plea to Matt, Ragan is sitting there with him. She tells him they’re obviously a pair. Wait. What? This comment and the ensuing argument is a nice way to make an enemy out of Ragan, one of the people in the house who may possibly not be against her.

The saboteur’s first act is to thank Matt for releasing a new saboteur into the house.

Nominations
Kathy is safe.
Ragan is safe.
Britney is safe.
Lane is safe.
Enzo is safe.
Hayden is safe.
Rachel and Brendon have been nominated for eviction.

Not one person is surprised by this obvious move, but at least it’s not a throw away move.

So You Think You Can Dance Season 7 Episode 21

The top 4 danced in So You Think You Can Dance Season 7 Episode 20. Tonight one more person will be eliminated as we narrow things down heading into the finals.

So basically this is like an episode of American Idol. As much filler as possible.

The first of the top two dancers is going to be revealed now. Following her very strange bottom three appearance last week, Lauren Froderman’s fans have rallied to put her in the top.

The next person in the finale is Kent Boyd.

That leaves Adechike Torbert and Robert Roldan in danger. The final person through to next week’s finale is Robert. Adechike has been eliminated.

Big Brother 12 Episode 13

Britney’s veto win in Big Brother 12 Episode 12 spelled the end for one of two thoroughly lame showmances.

Hayden doesn’t get what just happened. He had a deal that he had no intention of honoring, and he’s surprised it didn’t work out.

Brendon and Rachel tell Hayden not to worry because he’s safe. He takes this as an indication that he’s got enough votes to stay, and he’s not going to campaign at all.

Britney tells Enzo that the reason she didn’t want to make the deal was because Lane may have gone up in Hayden’s place. He says that Rachel and Brendon now have targets on their backs. Oh. That’s new.

Britney thinks it will be a good idea to go into Rachel’s HOH room and mock her. Of course, Rachel overhears this because Britney is talking as obnoxiously as Rachel does. Lucky she has a sense of humor about it.

Kristen’s starting to think that maybe Hayden is in an alliance she doesn’t know about. She takes this information to Ragan, who has considered that himself. Ragan realizes he won’t be of much use if indeed all the other guys are teamed up. Britney has been considering this as well. Adding those two to Kathy, that leaves one more vote. No choice but to approach Brendon.

We find out from the hometown interviews that Kristen has a boyfriend at home. Or had.

Rachel says that she and Brendon are hoping to pull Britney into their alliance. Good luck with that. You have a better shot with Kristen.

Votes
Enzo: Kristen
Kathy: Hayden
Matt: Kristen
Lane: Kristen
Ragan: Kristen
Brendon: Kristen
Britney: Kristen

By a vote of 6-1, Kristen has been evicted from the Big Brother house. As usual, Kathy is the odd vote out. Whatever her strategy is, well, I don’t think she has one so it doesn’t matter. Rachel’s goodbye message is the same broken record we’ve heard before: Kristen is a bitch for trying to get in between her and her man. Brendon says that nobody can trust her because she made up Hayden being in an alliance, and she made a mistake she’ll have to live with. With that said, Hayden’s farewell is that he is indeed in an alliance.

Whoever wins the HOH competition will be tempted by Pandora’s box. If the power inside is accepted, the new saboteur will be unleashed. The houseguests with the most votes for saboteur were Enzo and Ragan, with Ragan winning by a narrow margin. He does not exactly have saboteur written on him to me, which may be a good thing.

This is an endurance competition. The last person standing on the edge of the giant spinning paint can will win. The first person to fall will be the one and only have not for the week.

If you want to know who the HOH is before Sunday night’s show, check out the Big Brother 12 spoilers.

Stay tuned to dingoRUE for another live recap of Big Brother 12 Episode 14, which airs Sunday at 8/7c on CBS.

America’s Got Talent Season 5 Episode 20

12 more acts performed in America’s Got Talent Season 5 Episode 19. Tonight 4 more will advance.

The first trio is Doogie Horner, Mary Ellen, and Murray. Without question, Murray’s the one advancing here. And we are done with Mary Ellen.

Taylor Mathews, Da Maniacs, and Lindsey Stirling are next. Obviously, Taylor advances to the next round.

Strikers All Stars, Prince Poppycock, and Nu Covenant are the next group. Prince Poppycock is the one to advance. I still say he’d be better off dropping this lame persona.

The final group is Rudi Macaggi, Anna & Patryk, and ArcAttack. All good acts. Rudi is leaving the competition. Anna & Patryk and ArcAttack placed fourth and fifth, and the judges will make the decision who should stick around. Piers votes for Anna & Patryk because he thinks we can see more growth from them. Howie goes with ArcAttack because he felt the electricity and is not sure kid dancers are right for Vegas. Sharon has the deciding vote, and she sides with ArcAttack
