Kyle XY Season 2 Episode 19

Through a series of half truths and lies, Taylor managed to convince Jessi she couldn’t trust anybody but him in Kyle XY Season 2 Episode 18. Not much else happened, but in the end, Adam Baylin came back.

Adam gives Kyle a lesson about how the body heals. Greater control over the brain means greater ability to heal, and faster, too. They start practicing by separating oil and water.

Kyle wants to know why he’s not the only one like he originally thought. Taylor acted on his own when he continued the experiment to create Jessi, and nobody knew, not even Latnok, who doesn’t approve of what he did. They’re hoping that Kyle will be able to take care of her. Adam knows that Taylor will push her too hard, and that she won’t know when to stop. Back at Taylor’s place, Jessi’s working and hooked up to machines. Despite the screens flashing red and her bleeding nose, she doesn’t want to take a break.

Kyle accidentally cuts himself with a razor. He takes this opportunity to try to test what he’s learned, but he’s not quite at that stage yet.

Kyle heads over to Jessi’s place and climbs in her window like she does when she visits him. He tells her he wants to make it up to her for not being there for her lately. With the information that they may be able to find out more about Sarah Emerson, Jessi’s willing to go along to the unversity with him. They find out all this great information about her, but as could be expected, they find out that she’s got some skeletons in her closet, as she was busted for sabotaging a chemistry final and vandalized the lab.

Andy wants to play doctor with Josh. Except she doesn’t mean she wants him to diagnose that he’s concerned that she’s sick. He’s too worried about her test the next day that will tell her whether she’s still got cancer or not. She’s more worried about finding a diversion.

Declan is bored and restless. He’s even studying.

Kyle and Jessi go to investigate why the final was cancelled. Sarah made a Latnok symbol on the ceiling, and in it was the answers to the test. Even the professors couldn’t help being impressed, so they just left it there.

They’re also at the school to try to hack some computer software. Jessi’s primary concern here is who wins and who’s the best. She hacks it first, then she takes it a step further and locks Kyle out so he can’t.

Josh and Andy sit down for a counseling session with Nicole, in which they bring up phrases like makeout level. She suggests they share secrets with each other. Her real name is not Andrea… it’s Andromeda. He makes fun of the name, and she reponds by making fun of the O-Town poster he had over his bed until he was 8. Nicole throws him out so she can talk to Andy. Andy tells her she’s sick of people watching over her and making sure she’s not doing anything wrong.

Jessi and Kyle head to see the pool hall, where they learn Sarah allegedly set a world record. Of course, doing this appeals to Jessi. While she’s playing, Kyle hears a story from Mark (the guy Lori pepper sprayed) about how Sarah went crazy because she was obsessed with being the best at everything. Kyle’s got a plan. He asks Jessi to play against him, since she refuses to leave. Just as Kyle’s about to win, Jessi uses her powers to cheat and move the ball.

Lori, Hillary, and Amanda also show up there, so they can talk to a DJ about playing at the prom. Lori bumps into Mark and asks nicely that he don’t rat her out to her father, but this eventually just ends in a threat to kick his ass. Lori returns to the bathroom where the other girls have decided to hide until the DJ shows up in order to avoid being carded, but Lori is too disgusted after finding out that a bunch of college girls want to jump her father, so she decides to leave. Not content with merely cheating once, Jessi wants to cheat again, this time causing her nose to bleed. Kyle insists they leave, which causes another guy to try to punch him. He easily stops the punch but doesn’t want to fight. Declan, however, is all for it and throws a punch. During the chaos, Lori finds out that Mark’s actually the DJ they’re looking for, and that he doesn’t do proms. They drag Hillary out of there, and Kyle grabs Amanda. In the process, Jessi cuts her hand on some glass, but she’s able to heal the wound. Kyle warns her that if she doesn’t stop, she’ll end up just like Sarah.

Nicole challenges Josh to a game of G-Force. She has no clue what the game’s about, but she manages to kill him after she mentions that she just got done showing Andy pictures of his third birthday party, where he was naked. She tells him he needs to be the fun loving guy again.

Kyle returns to Adam with news of what happened. Adam tells him that Sarah was falling apart, and that he left because he couldn’t handle it.

When he gets home, Kyle tells Andy everything is going to be okay and gives her a hug, apparently taking Josh’s suggestion to heal Andy’s cancer in the process.

Kyle XY Season 2 Episode 18

Despite their best efforts, the kids all got busted for hiding Amanda at their house in Kyle XY Season 2 Episode 17. However, they did get away with hiding Kyle’s secret from a “social worker,” who in the end we found out was actually someone sent to the house by Latnok.

Amanda’s being forced by her mother to get a job to make her more responsible. So of course, she gets a job where Josh works. Kyle walks in and tells Amanda he wants to be her first, a statement which Josh suggests he amend. She rings up the order incorrectly, and he just pretends it right, so he ends up with a kiwi-strawberry-lime smoothie. Josh gets left in charge because “nothing ever happens on Sunday.” Immediately after that, the blender blows. It turns out the avocado is not a big lime, and the avocado seed is what caused the problem with the blender.

Taylor tells Jessi he doesn’t want her to see Kyle any more. He’s playing with her mind trying to convince her she can’t count on anybody but him. She goes to visit Nicole, who after what she heard last week about getting too close to her patients, is afraid to help her out, either as a patient or as a friend.

Andy shows up to get some money from Josh for concert tickets. He agrees to pay for the overpriced band he doesn’t like in order to live to feel her up another day.

Then Lori comes in, and she gets Kyle to thinking about taking the next step. Amanda calls him in the storage room, but she just wants something from the top shelf. It does give them a chance to talk, though. When they come out of the storage room, the place is swamped. Apparently, Sunday’s not so slow after all. Kyle volunteers to help.

Jessi walks in and wants to help Kyle. She’s able to figure out what’s wrong with the smoothie machine. Amanda isn’t happy to see her. While speaking of jealous girlfriends, Declan walks in with a girl.

The register’s short $120, and Josh blames Amanda for being careless and leaving the drawer open and walking away. Josh says $120 is exactly how much he gave for the concert tickets, but that he’s not at fault. Amanda suggests it was a customer, maybe Jessi. Josh wants Kyle to figure out a way to fix things, since they’ll both be fired if he doesn’t.

Amanda’s so sure she’s got Jessi figured out and tells her she should give back the money. Jessi’s response is that maybe she should call her mom again and tell her she’s there hanging out with Kyle. That should certainly smooth things over.

Josh has a brilliant idea. He’s opening soda bottles hoping to win a prize. Kyle convinces him to stop because 1 in 20 odds are not good. Right after he stops, a customer buys a drink, and she wins $50.

While at The Rack, a guy spilled coffee in Lori, so she responded by throwing her coffee on him. He follows her home, so she assaults him with pepper spray, only to find out it’s her father’s TA.

With everything going on, Kyle asks Jessi to wait a while longer for him. She’s mad and leaves. As he’s running after her, Amanda wants him to just let her go. Declan tells Kyle to just play along so he can move on to the makeup… hugs.

Kyle can’t make money, but he can access his holographic memory to find out what happened. He figures out the cash was missing before it was even put in the register. It turns out Josh’s boss, JT, was the one who counted the money. Andy returns with front row seats, which she got by saying she had cancer (she implied Josh has it, too), and reveals that she saw JT in line for tickets, which happen to cost $120.

Rather than follow Declan’s advice, Kyle goes with an effort to get Amanda to be okay with him hanging out with Jessi. This won’t end well. He asks Amanda to just trust her, which leads her to question why he can trust Jessi with his secrets but can’t trust her. So this time Declan advises him to tell her the truth.

Nicole calls Jessi to let her know she’s thinking about her. Brian answers the phone and pretends he’ll pass the message along. Jessi comes in and believes neither Kyle nor Nicole care about her, and he plays along with her.

Josh is still worried how he’s going to come up with the money, since if he blames his boss, it’s just his word that he’s got to go on. Andy comes up with the obvious solution: she scalps the tickets. When JT returns and counts the money, surprised it’s all there, Josh takes the opportunity to not so subtly accuse him of stealing the money.

Kyle tells Amanda the box is from Adam Baylin. She doesn’t understand. Yet. Now he wants to know something about her that he doesn’t know already. This may take a while.

Kyle gets a text message to meet at the warehouse. It’s not Foss, though. It’s Adam.

Kyle XY Season 2 Episode 17

Amanda returned home from school in Kyle XY Season 2 Episode 16. With her mother unwilling to take the hint, she decided to not get back on the plane and instead hid in Kyle’s house.

Amanda asks Kyle if she can stay there just until the morning. He offers her his tub to sleep in and literally gives her the shirt off his back. Not wanting to offend him by refusing the tub (he says he would understand because “It’s a tub”), she agrees to sleep in it. He can’t get comfortable on the floor, though, so she of course lets him get in the tub with her. How many times have I heard this story before? The next morning, Nicole knocks on his door, wondering why it’s locked. She doesn’t suspect anything.

Lori’s hoping to get paroled from grounding, and her excuse is that she’s the designated driver for a bunch of underaged drinkers. Josh pretends he needs to see Andy for emotional support because she’s got chemo, but Nicole knows her chemo is actually on a different day. Unlike the other two and the worst attempts at getting time off for good behavior ever, Kyle’s willing to do his time.

As Kyle’s saying goodbye to Amanda, she gets stuck in the room because Josh has chores that will require him to leave the windows closed. He sneaks her out the other way, where Josh sees her, and then Lori walks in. Just as Amanda’s running around from room to room, someone from the Department of Children’s Services shows up regarding a complaint filed against Kyle, which may be ridiculous, but since he was a former ward of the state, they have to check it out. While they’re discussing keeping the truth about who Kyle really is a secret from the woman checking into the complaint, Amanda is in a convenient position to overhear the whole conversation.

The kids get concerned about the social worker because that’s basically a fancy word for snoop. Josh wants to hide his porn. Lori needs to hide her beer that she claims she was holding for a friend.

Amanda is stuck hiding in Kyle’s room when Nicole warns him to clear out anything incriminating. Still not understanding the part about going to the front door, Jessi climbs in through his window, looking to spend time with Kyle and hoping Amanda would get lost. Just then, Declan shows up to take the beer, blocking them in with the ladder.

Kyle sneaks Jessi out first because getting caught with her wouldn’t be completely terrible. She insists on talking rather than sneaking out, though. She brings him the missing record from the jukebox, which she found in her room. She takes offense to his unwillingness to help her out right away. As she’s leaving, Jessi mentions that she’s like part of the family, so the social worker accuses Nicole of becoming too emotionally involved.

With his newfound ability to control electricity, Kyle is able to send Amanda a signal to escape. It works. But as she’s sneaking out, her mother is getting ready to knock on the door. Busted. Amanda stands up for herself, and the social worker says that they’re pretty much done there since that’s a family dispute. Except she does need to see Kyle’s room, which has had everybody concerned seeing that he sleeps in a tub and all. When they walk in, there is no tub (it’s beer with pillows and blankets covering it, but nobody needs to know that until later). Kyle ends up getting a glowing report, but she says she has “grave concerns” about Nicole and will file the proper notice.

Amanda brings news that her mom listened more than usual, but still won’t let her see Kyle outside of school. At the end of the day, Kyle doesn’t regret his decision because it’s worth the risk to protect those he cares about.

In the end, we find out that it wasn’t Amanda’s mother who called the social services. Instead, the person who said she was from social services was sent by Latnok and refers to him as “the one.”

Kyle XY Season 2 Episode 16

In an attempt to gain approval from her peers, Jessi jumped off a building, walked on water, and got caught doing it in Kyle XY Season 2 Episode 15. Kyle managed to convince everybody it was all just a trick, which Jessi ultimately was okay with, but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t still have a mischievous side to explore.

The Trager family decides to do some spring cleaning. Josh just dumps everything without thinking, mostly so he can goof off while everybody else cleans, but Kyle likes all his stuff. While they’re outside finding out that in addition to everything else Kyle’s great at throwing a football, Amanda steps out of a cab. She’s greeted in a way only Kyle can: all the car alarms on the block go off at the same time. When they start talking, Kyle senses she’s troubled. She delays his question until a later time and says “We need to talk,” leading to warnings from Lori and Josh about that phrase being bad news.

Once Lori’s done cleaning, she asks for permission to boycott an assignment from her guidance counselors about who she really is (guidance counselors give assignments?). Josh suggests a paper about how she’s sarcastic, moody, and cynical (she says she’s not a cynic).

Jessi comes to see Kyle and wants some more lessons. She brushes off the fact that she hurt herself jumping off another roof. He wants to wait until after he’s done seeing Amanda. That talk, though, is pretty brief. As the others were afraid, she’s got bad news for him. She tells him she can’t see him any more, and her mother forces her inside, upset at the news that Amanda wants to drop out. Kyle’s told he can’t see or speak to her until she returns to the music conservatory. Yeah, because that type of excessively restrictive attitude will really help matters.

Kyle’s got a plan. He doesn’t need to see or speak to her. There’s text messages (phone’s been confiscated). There’s e-mail (blocked by parental controls). So when all else fails, he plays the guitar outside her window (d’oh… Stephen stops him). The alarm code’s even been changed to keep her in the house.

So it’s on to plan b. Kyle, Lori, and Josh are discussing the next move, when they find out an eavesdropping Jessi can do anything Kyle can do. They decide they can utilize her, sending her to ring the doorbell. Amanda’s mom isn’t too happy, saying “You’re Lori’s trampy friend.” Jessi responds, “No, that’s Hillary.” She slams the door on her face, telling her to pass a message to Kyle, “Nice try.” It’s really all just a ploy to get close enough to get the code to the alarm, though. The next step is to get the shades pulled down in Amanda’s room, so Lori throws pebbles at the window, resulting in a quick response from her mom.

Jessi wants Lori to know she didn’t mean to do what she did and is there to help now. Despite the initial resistance, Lori may be willing to meet her half way.

Kyle begins phase two on a set of Christmas lights. This leads to the electrical system, which connects to the neighborhood transformer, which leads back to Amanda’s house. After knocking out the lights in her house, Kyle uses a projector and writes the alarm code and a meeting place on his window to send her a message, an idea he got from Amanda’s favorite Romeo & Juliet scene. Phase three involves Josh in a wig in Amanda’s room, praying not to get caught.

When they meet, a romantic dinner is setup for them. Even Hillary pitches in by cooking (she’s secretly a Top Chef fan), modifying their menu to what she wants instead of what was requested. Kyle eventually brings up the reason he brought her there, and she tells him that her feelings for him could never change. Everything’s going great until her insane mother shows up and catches them. She forces her to get in the car to head off for a flight back to school. As she’s leaving, we find out an increasingly jealous Jessi is the reason the plan didn’t work.

Kyle, Josh, and Lori get grounded, but Jessi’s not quite off the hook. Taylor busts her as she’s sneaking back in. Just as it looks like she’s about to be punished, though, he turns out to mostly be concerned with the big plans he has for her, which they’ll discuss in the morning.

Amanda never got on the plane. She knocks on Kyle’s window looking for a place to hide.

Kyle XY Season 2 Episode 15

Kyle and Jessi worked together to stop Ballantine in Kyle XY Season 2 Episode 14. While their efforts put Jessi out of the woods as far as being sought after by Madacorp, there was a new wrinkle at the end: a man introducing himself as her father came to see her in the hospital.

Kyle feels free now that he’s no longer hiding anything from his family. He might want to be more careful, though, as his newest trick of levitating with the assistance of water in front of Amanda’s mom won’t exactly win her over.

Nicole is concerned about Jessi’s well being with her newfound father Brian Taylor, a man who hasn’t proven to be particularly trustworthy in the past.

They go to the career fair at the school. Kyle doesn’t like that Madacorp has a booth there, but Lori tells him it’s okay and that they do every year. Hillary plans to be the queen of fabulous when she grows up, which actually doesn’t sound like a bad idea. Josh thinks this is all just a waste of time, but Kyle views it as an opportunity to find out what he can become.

Stephen goes to Madacorp to clean out his desk. Emily, who played right along with Ballantine’s game, apologizes and says his agenda was his own. She asks him to stay. He doesn’t trust her, with good reason, and happily declines.

Jessi’s back at school, and she says everything’s going well with her father, who claims he created her from Sarah’s genetics based on Adam’s experiments. The evil Jessi appears to be gone now, replaced with one who’s willing to keep her word. But the very curious Jessi still lurks. She insists on doing something to get away from the boring career fair, which leads her to jump off the roof… with a video camera nearby. Kyle believes she’s safe since he couldn’t make out a face in the video, though. Unfortunately, Jessi’s pretty happy with all the attention she’s getting from this. She doesn’t get why it’s a bad thing and thinks life is about getting noticed. She reluctantly promises Kyle no more tricks. This lasts all of a few minutes, as Hillary egging her on gets her to walk on water. This time it’s pretty clear who it is.

Hillary’s hoping to get some drooling guys to help her out. She offers them first base, no tongue, in an effort to get them to help her find out how Jessi did her “stunt” and put the spotlight back on her.

Nicole goes to confront Taylor about what’s been happening, hoping to prevent a circus from coming to Kyle. She wants him to start acting like a dad.

Kyle’s just getting more confused with all the options available. A group of guys want him to become an engineer after he saved their firm some money. Josh wants him to become a doctor to cure cancer and save Andy. Emily’s there, too. Kyle isn’t interested, but Jessi’s eager to work with her. Kyle tries to talk some sense into her, but she doesn’t care what he has to say.

Josh and Kyle were watching a science documentary “hosted by one of those naked magazine rabbits” in which a rat was kept in a cage and had its every move monitored. Kyle fears that if his secret gets out, that will happen to him, though he did notice that the tests helped find answers.

Taylor comes to the house and admits he doesn’t know how to handle Jessi. As a gesture of faith, he brings the ring, which Kyle sold at the pawn shop. The ring around Kyle’s neck is actually from Ballantine’s father. He makes a case for why they should trust him, or at least not abandon Jessi.

Jessi seems to have learned her lesson. The kids are asking her for more tricks, but she’s refusing. Hillary, however, has not learned her lesson, and she taunts her. With enough pushing, Jessi finally agrees to jump off the roof again. Just in time, Kyle comes to stop her, telling her he’s jumping, too. That doesn’t work, so Lori and Josh volunteer as well. This works, but they back off when asked, except Kyle uses his newfound water-based powers to prevent her from actually falling off the roof.

Jessi didn’t want to jump either but was afraid she was losing approval. She doesn’t want to be what she was before: invisible. Kyle’s lesson for her is that the people with the most to offer usually believe in themselves the least, but that’s not the case with him because he has people who believe in him, who will believe in her as well if she lets them.

Josh has chosen a career. Following Kyle’s suggestion, he’s decided to become a doctor.

Jessi claims to have learned her lesson. That lasts about two seconds before she sneaks out her bedroom window and jumps off the roof.

Kyle XY Season 2 Episode 14

In season two, Kyle was introduced to someone just like him, more or less, Jessi XX. Unlike Kyle, she found it a lot harder to control her darker side, and in the climax of the first half of the season, she finally betrayed him, stealing the information in his head for Madacorp. At the conclusion, she jumped off a cliff, with a very rocky landing below. Talk about your cliffhangers.

Picking up where we left off, Tom Foss comes up behind Kyle. He’s got some explaining to do. Like why Adam Baylin’s still alive despite having been shot. Once they’re done discussing what’s happened, Foss wants Kyle to go back to his family… and tell them the truth.

As Foss asked, Kyle goes home and tells them everything. Josh was wrong about him being an alien. I was hoping he was an alien myself, but Josh thinks the truth is pretty cool. After that, he’s got one more person to talk to, but he wasn’t able to catch Amanda before she left. When he heads back home, he’s worried what they’ll think and apologizes for putting them in danger, but Nicole still accepts him as one of the family.

Kyle’s got a plan: let Madacorp put him in the C.I.R. chair to get the information (that Jessi stole, so he no longer has it) and then create an energy surge to take the place out. Steven says it won’t be that easy, though, since the chair is isolated from the mainframe, but he can physically link it.

Lori, meanwhile, is mostly just happy that she’s free, since Declan hiding Kyle’s secrets from her means that it wasn’t her fault.

The plan now is to crash the open house at Madacorp since there will be plenty of people around, meaning a lot of distraction. Andy’s back because Josh invited her to the open house a couple weeks back, and she quickly gets suspicious something’s up.

Kyle goes right up to Julian Ballantine and says, “I hear you’ve been looking for me.” He offers up the information in exchange for leaving the family alone.

Lori promises Josh that the next cute guy she sees is about to have a very memorable open house experience. So of course, the next person she sees is Declan. She’s already forgiven him for keeping the secret. Beyond that, she’s completely over them being together and wants to destroy their memories. In the middle of this destructive fun, they find some condoms. So much for being broken up.

As Stephen’s sneaking around, oops, busted. Emily sees him. He pretends it’s just business as usual. She threatens to call security. He says she doesn’t understand and that his family is in danger. Only she does understand all too well.

While Kyle and Ballantine are walking and talking, he brings him in a room and tells him he doesn’t have what he wants any more. Jessi’s in a room going crazy, trying to get the information out any way she can. Ballantine tells her she’s free to go with the men and get the information taken out of her. In exchange for her help, not only does she get rid of the information, which would take her 57 years to write, but she also gets memories of the life she always wanted.

Not free to go is Kyle, nor is Stephen, who’s brought in the room with him. Since Jessi’s under such stress, Kyle thinks he can connect with her, as her brainwaves are more pronounced with increased emotions. He sneaks into her new memories, which are of a life as a member of the Trager family. He warns her not to give them the information. New life’s not going so well any more, as she’s going crazy there, too. Kyle wants her to be a better person, by choosing to be a better person. He offers to take the pain away, which he does by taking the information back.

They come to get him and take him to the chair, but he’s warned to cooperate because if he doesn’t, the chair will fry his brain. Emily tells Jessi to get the hell out of there, trying to protect her. While fleeing from the security guards, she runs into the elevator, where she meets up with Nicole, who believes there’s something that Jessi can do to help Kyle. Despite the warning, Kyle fights against the chair. He’s on the verge of cardiac arrest, but Ballantine doesn’t care and just cranks up the power. Together, though, he and Jessi can do what he couldn’t do alone. As they’re creating a power surge, Stephen connects the system, bringing it down. Then Jessi passes out.

When she wakes up in the hospital with Kyle watching over her, it’s not just Madacorp that’s down. The whole city’s been dark for hours. She’s happy to have done something good for a change, and Nicole’s looking for a home for her.

The city traced the blackout back to Madacorp, and what’s worse for Ballantine is that he was acting on his own without Madacorp’s knowledge. Emily’s sticking around to replace him.

As he’s packing up to leave, Foss is confident that Kyle’s got his family now and can get by without him, though he’ll still be around (somewhere). And he tells him Adam will be okay. Some day. Kyle promises to work as hard as he can every day.

Since the citywide blackout struck just as Declan was about to derevirginize Lori, they decided not to do anything. I’m not real clear on the logic either. She’s comfortable being friends without benefits but promises to get back where things were if they’re not hooked up with someone else by prom.

When Kyle gets home, he’s got some good news. Amanda’s flight, which has been delayed for hours, has now been cancelled due to the blackout, so she’s waiting for him in his tub. They’re able to patch things up, and she promises to come back to him.

Brian shows up at the hospital, claiming to be Jessi’s father. He says he’s the one who took the picture at the diner and that the girl in the picture who looks like Jessi is named Sarah.

Kyle is comfortable in the fact that, whatever may lay ahead, he doesn’t have to face it alone.

Kyle XY Renewed for Season 3

ABC Family announced today it has picked up Kyle XY for an additional 10 episodes for its third season, TVGuide reports. Presumably, season 3 will start in the summer like the previous two seasons did, but no date has yet been announced. Currently, an additional 10 episodes are being filmed for the last half of season 2. During its first two seasons, Kyle XY has become one of ABC Family’s biggest hits, particularly among teens and young adults.

Additionally, Ally Sheedy will join the cast this season as Jessi XX’s mom.
