Survivor: The Australian Outback Episode 3

Kel was tried and convicted of having beef jerky witout any evidence other than Jerri’s word, which was enough to get him voted off the island in Survivor: The Australian Outback Episode 2.

Mike wants to go hunting for a pig. Nobody else is interested in participating. His plan is to build a spear. He really doesn’t know what he’s doing, but he will just make it up as he goes. Jeff hopes he loses the knife (their only knife) so he can go off on him.

Reward is an outback fishing package complete with line, hooks, lures, and a net. The challenge is for both tribes to get all the buckets of water loaded on the shoulders of the other tribe’s strongest member. One person will load the water on the opposing tribe’s water bearer, while the others run across a balance beam with buckets over their shoulders. Michael and Colby will be the water bearers. Rodger and Michael are the loaders. Amber is first across with Elisabeth behind her. Keith falls off, and Kimmi follows him in. Then the challenge gets all blurry as bucket after bucket makes its way across. Once they run out of buckets, it’s about who can hold on the longest. At least that’s the plan. They are each holding over 400 pounds. The individual aspect of this challenge is pretty rough this early in the show. Michael’s pole ends up breaking in half because it was not strong enough to hold that weight, so there is no winner yet. They will do a 5 minute timed race. The tribe that gets the most buckets on the other tribe’s water bearer wins. With 2 minutes left, they’re even at 10. Ogakor leads by 2 with 20 seconds remaining, and they retain their lead to win reward.

Now that they’ve got the proper equipment, they’re able to catch their first fish (granted, Michael was catching fish without this equipment). Jerri’s mostly just happy that Keith and Kel were wrong when they said there are no fish there. Now that they’ve caught some fish, it’s time to let Keith be the chef again. Colby noticed that Keith has merely played the role of instructor on how to cook fish, with many others looking on to see how they could do it themselves.

Elisabeth and Rodger are bonding right away. She’s going to protect him, whether it’s a wise idea or not. In his favor, his weak challenge performances may possibly be balanced by his outdoor knowledge.

Over on the other side, Maralyn and Tina are bonding because they are closer in age. Then there’s Jerri and Colby. She’s been crushing on him from the beginning, and he’s starting to like her no matter how much he hates her.

Jeff wants to go to the final four with Alicia, so they need to find two people to go with them that they could beat. They definitely don’t want to compete against Elisabeth, and they’re also concerned about Nick, who’s lazy anyway.

After a rough night of rain without much sleep, Ogakor’s worried how they will handle the immunity challenge. The challenge is an obstacle course. They will race through a log chute, down a steep sandslide into the river, through a series of obstacles on the other side, and then sprint to the finish line. The twist: they will be tethered as a team. Everybody from the winning tribe must finish, one way or another. The tribes are pretty even as they get to the river. Kucha overtakes Ogakor as Maralyn struggles with one of the obstacles. Colby decides to get behind her and start pushing. This helps a little, but it doesn’t look like Ogakor has any prayer. Then Rodger falls. Then Maralyn and Rodger both fall some more. In the end, Kucha edges out Ogakor to win immunity.

Ogakor realizes they made a stupid decision last time. Had they voted for Maralyn last week instead of Kel, they probably would have won. Now they know they have to get rid of Maralyn.

Jerri, Colby, Mitchell, Amber, and Tina have formed an alliance of sorts. That means they can choose between Keith or Maralyn, and voting Keith doesn’t make sense.

Keith has his own agenda. He’d like to keep Maralyn around, instead getting rid of Mitchell due to his work ethic at camp. He discusses this plan with Colby, believing he won’t tell anybody. Colby goes right to Mitchell to tell him what’s up.

Colby and Mitchell say it’s too early to trust anybody. Maralyn has decided they’re all her buddies, especially Tina. Jerri has bonded with Colby, Mitchell, and Amber.

Survivor: The Australian Outback Episode 2

Debb immediately rubbed her team the wrong way and was the first one voted out in Survivor: The Australian Outback Episode 1.

Early in the morning before anybody else is awake, Mike wakes up to start cooking some rice. Hopefully everybody else is hungry because he didn’t ask. He thought he was just being helpful, since they’ve been having rice first thing in the morning every day. Because he left the rice to sit when he went away, it cooked too long. The net result of this is that people are upset with him. He hopes that maybe he can catch a lot of food to make everybody happy.

Kel is the fisherman of his group. Well, at least he’s the guy who’s trying to fish anyway. While he’s doing that, the rest of the group is hanging out like they’re on vacation. He’s going to keep fishing until he finds something that works, even though he realizes that he really doesn’t have the equipment to be doing this. The rest of the tribe doesn’t think he has the knowledge to be fishing either.

Since they have all these cliffs around, it’s time to take advantage of them. The reward challenge is to jump off a cliff one at a time, swim out and grab on to a crate, and then bring the crate through the rapids and up the beach. Mike takes the lead for Kucha. Then the challenge becomes a big blur until finally we see that Ogakor has a pretty sizeable lead. Rodger can’t swim, so the lead becomes even bigger, but for him his goal is to merely complete the challenge, rather than winning it. Ogakor wins reward, which is blankets.

Keith is a chef, or so he thinks. The rest of the tribe is not so convinced. They are unhappy with the way he’s cooking the rice. In an attempt to switch things up, showing up Keith in the process, Jerri has made tortillas. Tina and Amber are thrilled by the change, and they’ve decided she is the new cook.

Michael doesn’t want to be seen as the leader, but he does want to be useful. His plan is to just be seen as the food guy. Unlike Kel, he’s had no problem catching fish. Kimmi and Alicia don’t view him as the leader, regardless of what may have been said at tribal council.

Jerri told her tribe that Kel is chewing a brown substance, which looked like beef jerky. They even look through his backpack while he’s away, but they don’t find anything. Kel overhears the ruckus. He returns to defend himself, saying he was chewing on a blade of grass. In an attempt to get in good with the tribe, he’s offered up his razors for the tribe to use. Maralyn doesn’t appreciate the invasion of privacy from the rest of her tribe, but they really don’t care and refuse to apologize.

The immunity challenge is a gross eating challenge. Will vegetarian Kimmi participate? They have put together one of the finest samples of pure aboriginal food (bush tucker). The aboriginals eat everything in order to survive, with nothing going to waste. The lucky people may get the apple or the candy bar that have been placed into the mix. One member of Kucha will have to eat twice. Whoever doesn’t eat or can’t finish will lose a point for their tribe. Michael and Maralyn get mangrove worms. Maralyn removes her teeth to get ready. Mike easily finishes his, and after much struggling Maralyn gets hers down as well. Kimmi and Keith get cow brains. Kimmi’s not even going to try, but Keith has no trouble. Jerri and Nick get shellfish, and both of them finish it. Kel and Elisabeth get apples. Mitchell and Jeff get live wichetty grub larva, which they finish fairly easily. Amber and Alicia get some sort of bug, which they both finish. Colby and Rodger get the chocolate bar, which they manage to force down. Because Kimmi was the only person to not eat anything (or even try), if Tina eats this next food, she wins immunity for her tribe. She and Michael get tripe, a cow’s stomach lining. Mike easily finishes, but Tina is unable to keep it down. That brings them to a tie. Each tribe can pick one member from the other side. Tina and Kimmi will participate in the tiebreaker. They must eat a mangrove worm. Apparently, eating a worm is acceptable for Kimmi as a vegetarian. Not real clear where that line gets drawn, but there you have it. Kimmi finishes first, and Kucha wins immunity. That sucks. Kimmi deserved to lose this for her tribe.

Keith realizes he’s made some enemies and is vulnerable. On the other side of the coin is Jerri, who also is causing friction within the tribe. Then there’s Kel and that whole beef jerky thing, even though eliminating him would be removing a strong physical component that is useful both at camp and at the challenges.

Jeff asks: why is Jerri cooking if Keith is the chef? She didn’t like the rice, and she wasn’t alone, although Colby didn’t mind it.

Tina says that, since she’s the one who screwed up, she should be the one to go. She doesn’t even attempt to offer a reason why she shouldn’t go, but the good news for her is that nobody is thinking about voting for her.

So You Think You Can Dance Season 5 Episode 9

The top 18 performed in So You Think You Can Dance 5 Episode 8, and tonight two more will be sent home.

Melissa & Ade are safe. Jeanine & Phillip are also safe, as Caitlin & Jason are in the bottom three. Mary is not really surprised but is disappointed after their Bollywood routine last week.

Janette & Brandon are safe. Karla & Jonathan are safe, leaving Ashley & Kupono in the bottom three. Lil C is shocked following their crash test dummy routine, but this week they were vulnerable after being taken out of their genre.

Unsurprisingly, Evan’s brother Ryan Kasprzak returned to audition for season 6, and he made it to Vegas.

Randi & Evan are safe. Asuka & Vitolio are safe, with Kayla & Max joining the bottom three. Nigel says that he can understand people not getting their routine.

Caitlin, Jason, Ashley, Kupono, Kayla, and Max will be dancing for their lives.

Neither decision tonight from the judges is unanimous.

Caitlin had great quality of movement tonight and really good control. Ashley looks glamorous, but her solo had no substance. Kayla’s solo was crowded because she tried to do too much. Ashley Valerio will be leaving tonight.

Jason’s solo was probably the best they’ve seen this year, so he’s safe. Kupono’s solo had very little substance, although he is an intelligent dancer. Max is a hard worker, but that will not be enough to save him this week. Maksim Kapitannikov has been eliminated.

So You Think You Can Dance Season 5 Episode 8

Tony Bellissimo and Paris Torres were eliminated in So You Think You Can Dance Episode 7, leaving 18 to perform tonight.

Lil C has joined the loud mouth and the British guy at the judges’ table.

Randi Evans & Evan Kasprzak
Style: Jive
Choreographer: Louie van Amstel
Song: Shake a Tail Feather by Ray Charles
Lil C: Out the box with a bang. Evan is a little too smooth. Randi is a firecracker. Great partnership.
Mary: Two contestants who are built for the jive. Not that bad, but just fell short a little bit.
Nigel: Thought Evan would be better. Lost the double bounce feel. Tremendous as a couple.
Number: 1-888-TEMPO-01

Melissa Sandvig & Ade(tokunbo Isaac Kayode) Obayomi
Style: Jazz
Choreographer: Sonya Tayeh
Routine: High maintenance girl playing hard to get and a man who hates to lose
Song: 24 Hours (The Ashton Shuffle A-Bomb Remix) by Terry Poison
Lil C: Ade is everybody’s competition, although he may not have thought so earlier. Melissa really tried to submerge herself into the routine.
Mary: Really tough to find anything I didn’t love about that.
Nigel: Everything Ade did, Melissa did at equal strength. Brilliantly danced.
Number: 1-888-TEMPO-02

Caitlin Kinney & Jason Glover
Style: Hip Hop
Choreographer: Shane Sparks
Routine: Characters met in a bar, had a relationship for a week, she leaves, and he’s longing for what he can’t have.
Song: Missin You by Trey Songz
Lil C: Did not love that. Left feeling a bit perplexed. The choreographer’s fantasy became a nightmare. Came off corny.
Mary: Kinda like Michael Jackson and Britney Spears. Both completely different dancers. Chemistry didn’t work.
Nigel: Looked really good doing this routine, thanks to Shane realizing that neither are very hard hitting dancers.
Number: 1-888-TEMPO-03

Janette Manrara & Brandon Bryant
Style: Disco
Choreographer: Doriana Sanchez
Song: Loving Is Really My Game by Brainstorm
Lil C: Saw the birth of progression in two amazing dancers. Extremely amazing.
Mary: Did you put that whole thing on fast forward or what? Have never seen a disco done that fast ever. Just nailed it.
Nigel: If I could scream like Mary, I would. One of the best disco routines ever. Did more in that routine than was done in the entire movie Dirty Dancing.
Number: 1-888-TEMPO-04

Asuka Kondoh & Vitolio Jeune
Style: Waltz
Choreographer: Louie van Amstel
Song: Dreams Are More Precious by Enya
Mary: (crying) Painfully beautiful. First honest performance from Vitolio. Asuka has also gone to another level.
Lil C: Vitolio’s choppy steps were compensated for by the sincerity and authenticity of the emotion. Asuka has a dominant submissive quality.
Nigel: Anybody not touched by the beauty of that routine is heartless. Quality rarely seen on this program.
Number: 1-888-TEMPO-05

Kayla Rodomski & Max Kapitannikov
Style: Pop Jazz
Choreographer: Brian Freedman
Routine: Performer trying to steal a princess’ throne.
Song: Hot Like Wow by Nadia Oh

Karla Garcia & Jonathan Platero
Style: Contemporary
Choreographer: Stacey Tookey
Song: Falling Slowly by The Frames
Mary: Jonathan, you did that style better than your own. The light is just right on the two of you.
Nigel: No false moves from Jonathan. Absolutely sensational routine.
Lil C: Beautifully danced. Perfect balance.
Number: 1-888-TEMPO-07

Jeanine Mason & Phillip Chbeeb
Style: Tango
Choreographer: Tony Meredith
Song: Violento (Up Mix) by Bailongo
Mary: Phillip gets an A+ in attitude and a C- in technique. Jeanine is a hot mama with better technique.
Lil C: Phillip lacked confidence.
Nigel: Phillip can’t strain his face while lifting. Wasn’t good technically, but was great entertainment. Jeanine, good job.
Number: 1-888-TEMPO-08

Ashley Valerio & Kupono Aweau
Style: Hip Hop
Choreographer: Shane Sparks
Routine: Ashley is Kupono’s shadow.
Song: Imma Be by The Black Eyed Peas
Mary: It was okay. Not memorable.
Lil C: Kupono struggled, which made it hard for Ashley to follow him. Ashley had some nice moments that saved the routine.
Nigel: Stopped just at the point that I started to enjoy it.

Survivor: The Australian Outback Episode 1

The first season of Survivor was merely a summer experiment for CBS, but it gained more and more steam until 51 million people watched Richard Hatch be crowned the first sole Survivor, capping off a run as the #2 show for the 1999-2000 season and creating the basis for more reality TV to come. Season 2, The Australian Outback, once again gathered together a group of 16 strangers, this time heading south of the border.

The Survivor: The Australian Outback cast consists of:

Alicia Calaway
Amber Brkich
Colby Donaldson
Debb Eaton
Elisabeth Filarski
Jeff Varner
Jerri Manthey
Keith Famie
Kel Gleason
Kimmi Kappenberg
Maralyn Hershey
Michael Skupin
Mitchell Olson
Nick Brown
Rodger Bingham
Tina Wesson

The contestants hop onboard a plane on loan from the Royal Australian Air Force. They’re not being rescued, though. They’re being dropped in the middle of nowhere. Their run has been extended from 39 days to 42. Those using air sickness bags already are going to need to shake it off. One crate of supplies awaits each tribe, and they have 5 minutes to salvage whatever they can. From their landing point, they will hike 5 miles to find their camps.

Kucha (blue): Kimmi, Michael, Alicia, Rodger, Elizabeth, Nick, Debb, Jeff
Ogakor (green): Maralyn, Colby, Amber, Mitchell, Tina, Keith, Jerri, Kel

They are warned that they must take as much water as they can because the river water must be boiled, and they may not have fire for a while.

Their first unofficial challenge is to find their camps. That would include being able to read a compass, which they apparently don’t teach at Harvard since Nick is unable to do it. Within the Kucha tribe, it’s already breaking down. Kimmi has decided she can’t stand Debb before they’ve even figured out how to get where they’re going to live.

Maralyn, the oldest member of her tribe, is afraid she won’t be able to keep up with the younger people.

Jeff is already sick.

Both tribes have managed to arrive at their camps without much incident, although it was a tiring trek. Kucha has foolishly decided to jump into the river to celebrate, a decision they’re going to regret later when they’re cold.

Kucha gets right to work building their shelter. Mike takes the lead because he’s done some construction. Debb is not happy because she considers him bossy.

Over on Ogakor, the top of their shelter will be Colby’s Texan flag. While building the shelter, there’s already tension between Keith and Jerri. She thinks he’s condescending. She says she’s not the kind of person to just let it slide off her back. Talk about your foreshadowing.

Kimmi’s starting to rub people the wrong way. She hasn’t yet developed that censor in her brain that says that something may not be the right thing to say, and she’s extremely loud and doesn’t shut up to boot. Debb and Jeff are going crazy.

Kucha has found fruit. Mike bites into a fig right off the tree. Might want to cook those, unless you like eating live bugs.

Both tribes try starting fire. That usually proves to be a great big waste of time. Unless you have some form of magnifying glass with you, it ain’t happening (only one Survivor ever has managed to start a fire without anything manmade, Hein from Survivor South Africa: Malaysia, who lived in the bush for 20 years).

With that failure behind them, they get some good news. The winner of the immunity challenge will get waterproof matches. They will first go over the bridge using planks, to a small torch carrying raft, on another raft operated with ropes, and then assemble and climb the ladders to light the fire. If their torch goes out, they lose. Ogakor takes the early lead. Ogakor still has a lead after the second leg, reaching the larger raft first. Unless their torch goes out, there’s really no way they can lose. Speaking of torches going out, Kucha’s does when their raft flips over, but it doesn’t matter because Ogakor already has immunity in the bag.

Debb thinks it’s between her or Rodger, or the sickly Jeff. She told Alicia that Jeff wants to go home, but he says that’s just a lie. It concerns him, as everyone looks like they’re scheming.

Tribal council takes place on top of a granite waterfall overlooking the cliff. Rodger says that Mike is the leader, which he’s fine with. He says he likes everybody and they all get along just fine. The others don’t all share his sentiments.

The Bachelorette Season 5 Episode 5

Following Mike’s departure after the two-on-one date, at least producer plant was sent home as arch nemesises (nemeses? nemesi?) Juan and David were both sent packing in The Bachelorette Season 5 Episode 4.

Everybody goes to Whistler, BC, Canada, a ski resort town a couple hours outside of Vancouver.

Michael gets the one-on-one date. Jillian just about let him go last night (maybe), so she wants to see if there’s a connection there on this solo date. They start off ziplining. Jillian feels like a kid again. That night, they go to a champagne place, where they see hundreds of bottles dating back to the 1800s. At dinner, Michael says he’s a cheesy hopeless romantic. Jillian doesn’t know what she’s looking for, but she is ready to ask someone to do this forever. He broke up with someone eight months ago, and this is his first dating experience since then. He was happy the first night when Jillian breakdanced with him because it was a relief since he doesn’t know a lot of girls who like to let their hair down like that. Michael makes her laugh, and there’s never a lack of conversation, so he gets the rose, although she still has some concerns that she’ll need to figure out.

The guys at the house are still trying to figure out the girlfriend thing. Is it a lie? Is it real? Is Wes a bigger phony than he seems?

The group date is for Wes, Robby, Kiptyn, Tanner, Ed, Jake, Reid, and Mark. They will be going snowmobiling. Jillian selects Robby to ride with her, while the rest of the guys can ride in groups of two. This is every Canadian girl’s dream. Robby apologizes for his outburst at the rose ceremony. She thinks he’s honest and doesn’t believe she has to worry about him having a girlfriend. Next up is Tanner. Is he going to reveal a name? No, he’s just going to leave it up to her. Wes could see someone thinking he’s there for the wrong reasons, what with his CD coming out and all. He doesn’t want to talk about it any more. Jillian likes that he’s kinda bad ass. I don’t think she’ll like it for very long. After asking Kiptyn to feel her butt, Jillian reveals that she doesn’t suspect him. She doesn’t know what he’s actually saying to her… she just keeps thinking how cute he is. Reid has gotten off to a slower emotional start with her. He’ll definitely be married with children in a few years. So anyway, who’s the one with the girlfriend? He tells her everybody’s got a girlfriend, if not multiple girlfriends, and that he’s got some wives.

Ed seems distant from everyone. He’s wondering what he’s doing there, having had a conference call with his boss that morning. If he wants to stick around, he’ll probably be unemployed. Ed receives the rose so he knows she wants him to stay. Does he want to keep the rose, or does he want to give it back? He accepts it. Jake’s pretty confident he will not be at the next rose ceremony. A recession is not the best time to play with your job.

Jesse gets the other one-on-one date. They will be flying to a glacier. There’s not a lot of talking when they’re riding over, but they both think the view is breattaking. When they land, everything’s untouched like nobody’s ever been there before. This is the best day Jesse’s ever had. It even beats his 6th Christmas when he got his Tonka truck. He’ll remember this forever. After they play in the snow for a while, they fly back to get dinner. He’s been in love once before. She let that slip on the glacier, but now it’s time for the tough questions. Is it too soon? He says it’s been almost half a year, so now he’s ready to be in a relationship and commit. Do they still talk? Oh, god no. As for her, she’s ready to bail on Vancouver and is open to moving to her man’s city for a couple years. He loves her voice, which he could fall asleep to… she just wants to know how he could fall asleep to nails on a chalkboard. After dinner they get in a hot tub, presumably prompting Jillian’s parents to turn off the TV. He wants to know how he’s going to explain this day to everyone. Tivo. Excited to see what comes next, Jillian gives Jesse a rose.

Ed needs to talk. He spoke with his boss again, and with that said, he will be leaving. Jillian’s hurt, but at least they’re figuring it out before they go too far. While he’s letting her down, he has to leave, or he’ll be letting down a lot more people. Before he leaves, he asks to keep the rose. She just wishes he would have thought about this before he came here, a valid complaint since it can’t be a surprise to him how long this process has turned out to be, unless he was expecting to be sent home at the first rose ceremony. Jillian threw away everything she had for this opportunity. Really? Everything?

Chris asks if Tanner is someone Jillian can trust. Her response: if he is there to fall in love with her, he should focus on that, not calling the other guys out (no matter how many times she asks him to spill apparently).

Jillian’s ready to get down to business. No need for a cocktail party.

Following Ed’s earlier departure, Mark, who was spared elimination on last week’s two-on-one date, has now been eliminated. He’s reconsidering putting his walls up, although he has been cheated on 4 times. Since he didn’t come here to sell records and doesn’t have a girlfriend, he doesn’t feel like he got a fair chance.

Survivor: Borneo Winner

While they may not have wanted to, the alliance stuck together in Survivor: Borneo Episode 12, voting out Sean. That leaves a final four of Kelly Wiglesworth, Richard Hatch, Rudy Boesch, and Sue Hawk.

The alliance is now done. For real. Now it’s time for them to eat their own. Despite the fact that the four of them have made it to the final four, they don’t trust each other at all. Kelly tried to play both sides because she wasn’t really in the alliance (except she really was). Sue originally wanted to join up with Kelly to get rid of Rich, but then Sue decided she didn’t like Kelly any more, so she chose instead she’d rather go to the end with Rich. Rudy is also looking to take Rich to the end.

They’ve received pictures of each of their former tribemates, so they think the next challenge will be personal questions about them. Rudy doesn’t know, and he doesn’t care. He was just asking what Sean did again. I thought everybody knew he was a doctor. The alliance of three remains intact, and they’re hoping once again to get rid of Kelly, who still hates everybody.

The immunity challenge is called fallen comrades. It’s a quiz game to find out how much they’ve learned about each of the castaways. The challenge takes place at tribal council in front of the jury.

Who received only 1 vote at the first tribal council?
Stacey. Rudy and Sue are correct.

In treasure island relay, name the Pagong members who ran the following legs: swimming, floating bridge, paddle, run, and dig.
Colleen, Greg, Joel, Gervase, and Gretchen and Jenna. Rich, Sue, and Kelly get 1 point.

Whose shirt is this?
Jenna’s. Kelly gets it right.

What state is Gervase from?
New Jersey. Sue, Rich, and Rudy get a point.

Whose blue bandana is this?
Greg’s. Kelly gets it right.

What are the names of these two girls?
They’re obviously Jenna’s daughters, Sabrina and Sadie. Sue and Kelly are correct.

Other than the raft and personal belongings, what three items did Pagong bring with them when they moved to Tagi beach?
Mosquito net, cooking pot, and blanket. Rudy, Kelly, and Sue are correct.

Name the two Survivors from Pagong who did not compete in the obstacle course.
Gervase and Colleen. Rudy, Kelly, and Sue are correct.

Sean was the chief resident of what department in the hospital?
Neurology. Rudy, Sue, and Richard are correct.

Going into the final question, Sue and Kelly are tied at 6, and Rudy has 5. Richard is out of it with 3.

In order, list the Survivors voted off the Pagong tribe.
BB, Ramona, Joel, Gretchen, Greg, Jenna, Gervase, Colleen. Sue, Richard, and Kelly are correct.

That brings them down to the tiebreaker for Kelly and Sue. What is Sonja’s last name? She was in Tagi (for 1 episode).
Christopher. Kelly is correct. Kelly wins immunity. She uses this as an opportunity to suck up to the jury, telling them she’s interested in them and likes them.

Immediately following the challenge, it’s time to vote. Their plans have been dashed for a third time, so they need to have a plan B.

The girls stick together to vote out Rich, while the boys stick together to vote out Sue. Kelly and Rudy will be allowed to vote again. It’s obvious Rudy’s not going to turn on Rich, but will Kelly vote out Sue?

Sue

With two votes, Sue has been voted off the island. She’d rather still be on the island, which is a lot easier than driving a truck through Chicago every day.

At 4AM on day 38, Jeff arrives at camp to wake up the final three. He takes them on a boatride. Upon arrival, they will walk past the staffs of their fallen comrades, then walk on burning coals to reach the final immunity challenge.

The challenge is called hands on the immunity idol. The last person with their hand on the immunity idol wins immunity. An hour and a half has elapsed, and Jeff has gone to get some oranges to tempt them with. Rich is thinking that he’s probably never going to outlast Kelly, and he hopes both of them recognize what he’s done to get there. With that said, he’s out of the challenge. Years later, we would see Mike Boogie imitate this move (except in that case the dumb blonde who was up against him had such a short attention span that she eliminated herself, ending the challenge about 15 seconds after it began). Later, Jeff returns with some lemonade. They will now start rotating positions every 30 minutes. Now that 4 hours have passed, Jeff asks Rich about how he hopped down and put the weight on Rudy’s shoulders. Seconds later, as they’re rotating around the pole, Rudy loses concentration and removes his hand from the idol. Kelly wins immunity.

Rich and Rudy both think Kelly’s wisest decision here is to keep Rich around. Despite that, Rich has played a great game, and unless you’re one of those people who supports someone who’s won immunity a bunch of times, there’s not a lot of reason to believe Kelly could beat either of these guys, since she’s played a poor game despite her 5 immunity wins. Trying to play both sides blew up in her face because she just wasn’t smart enough to pull it off. It’s a classic overplay.

Vote
Rudy

With the lone vote against him, Rudy has been voted off the island. He doesn’t blame her.

Now that they’re leaving, they burn their camp to the ground. It’d really suck if Jeff came to them with a twist right about now.

Kelly just wants to get through the firing squad. Rich doesn’t think any of these people are vindictive. Wait for it.

Rich is proud of the game he’s played and would be happy with $100,000, but he really wants the million. It would change his life (years later in prison).

At the final tribal council, the two contestants first are allowed to make opening remarks.

Kelly wants people to know it’s a game. She hopes they’re not going to be judged on how they chose to play that game. Huh? Rather, she wants to be judged on the type of person she is.

Rich doesn’t care about who the best person is, and he doesn’t think anybody really knows who he is anyway. His approach was about strategy from the beginning.

Gervase asks if there’s anything they would change. Rich was too comfortable believing he could trust what was said. Kelly wouldn’t have joined the alliance (the one that got her this far). She also found it hard casting some of the votes she did.

Jenna wants to know who they would put in their place. Rich would choose Rudy due to his integrity, loyalty, and gameplay, and he would also choose Greg, who he felt could have been big competition. Kelly would pick Sonja and Gretchen because they were strong women. Sonja? Really? This may be enough to swing over the female votes, however.

Sean doesn’t have any questions. He thanks Kelly for keeping the camp afloat, and thanks Rich for teaching him some things about himself along the way.

Colleen asks what three character traits are essential to get to the final two. Kelly responds faith, strong will, and likeability; Rich responds self awareness, observation, and ethics. Colleen is amused by Rich’s answer since he didn’t do so well when it came to answering questions about people’s kids’ names. He wasn’t there to make friends. Instead, he was observing on the basis of gameplay.

Rudy just wants everybody to know how dumb he feels after the mistake he made at the final immunity challenge.

Greg asks for a number between 1 and 10. Rich: 7. Kelly: 3. That is all.

Sue has no questions. Just a rant. Rich is openly arrogant and pompous, but she respects him because he’s worked hard to get where he’s at. However, since he’s unable to admit his failures without going into a whiny speech, that makes him a bit of a loser in life. Kelly sucked at the rowing challenge, getting beat by Gervase, who could barely swim. Anyway, Sue had been willing to let Kelly sit next to her because she was her friend, but because she lied to her, that showed she’s two-faced and manipulative. That’s why she fails all the time at life. With all that mean-spirited nonsense out of the way, here’s what it all boils down to. Kelly will not get Sue’s vote. She hopes that’s the one vote that makes her lose the money. If she ever passes her in life, she would not give her a drink of water to save her if she’s dying of thirst. The island is full of only two things: snakes and rats. They owe it to the island’s spirits to let it be the way mother nature intended, for the snake to eat the rat. Bitter much?

Gervase has voted for Kelly, but he’s gotta get something off his chest. What Sue just did can be summed up easily: sore loser. It was okay for her to play the game, but it wasn’t okay for anyone else to play. She played both the rat and the snake herself. Then, after she was eliminated, she had to blame someone, crying and belly aching about her defeat.

With 4 votes, the Survivor: Borneo winner is Richard Hatch. They came very close to making a horrible decision, but in the end, the jury made the right choice, awarding someone for playing the game well, instead of someone who just happened to win a bunch of challenges.
