Big Brother 12 Episode 17

In spite of Brendon’s humiliating attempt to get them to vote him out instead, Rachel was eliminated in Big Brother 12 Episode 16. We left off at the start of the HOH competition.

Brendon is fighting for Rachel and blah blah blah. Matt realizes that his allies suck at competitions.

After the eviction, the rest of the house scattered to be out of the room with Brendon. Britney says that he attacked her that week. She loved every minute of it, trying to turn it into a big joke at his expense.

Kathy’s in dead last as usual. Enzo’s not far ahead of her, and Ragan and Britney are falling behind the rest of the pack as well. Brendon has a massive lead. It doesn’t appear that anybody else has a chance of catching him.

3 hours before the eviction, Enzo told Hayden he’s going after Ragan and Britney after this. They’re getting too tight with Matt and Lane. They proposed a side alliance with Brendon/Rachel to eliminate Ragan and Britney.

Brendon gets stuck on a knot. All of a sudden, his lead starts to slip away as Lane begins catching up with him. While this provides a little bit of drama, it’s not enough to stop him. Brendon wins HOH. Right on cue.

According to Brendon, he’s the biggest target if he didn’t win. However, minus Rachel, his target has decreased. What he needs to do is not be too big of an ass this week, or he’ll just make himself a bigger target in the process. He’s not off to a very good in that respect, though.

As the winner, Brendon’s first act is to choose three have nots for the week: Ragan, Britney, and Matt. This is the third time for Ragan and Britney.

Now the Brigade is regretting this decision to get rid of Rachel instead of Brendon. It’s quite amusing. Speaking of regret, Britney realizes she put her foot in her mouth when she opted to openly mock Brendon to his face. As the diamond power of veto holder, Matt couldn’t care less who gets nominated.

When it comes time for the very lame HOH room revealing, Enzo and Kathy pretend to be interested. The people who know they’re targets decide not to even pretend.

Hayden and Enzo are starting to trust Brendon more than Matt, who’s always with Ragan. They’re also worried about Lane, who’s spending too much time with Britney. They’d like to get rid of Britney this week.

Contrary to their plans, Brendon is thinking of putting Britney up there, but he’s planning to put her up against Lane.

For his third act of sabotage, Ragan will be talking about a secret alliance, which he hopes to tie back to Annie’s message about the lifelong friendship. His hint is that it’s a male and a female. That would point the finger at either Kathy or Britney. They swear on whatever they can think of that they don’t know anybody.

In addition to their slop, the have nots will be given eggplant and escargot. Surprising to see Big Brother willing to pay for the snails.

Ragan has decided to try to save himself by speaking to Brendon, who wants him to make it quick. His proposal is that they become secret allies because nobody would suspect it. Very interesting play, but Brendon’s still not playing this game for himself.

After that, he pulls Britney into his room. Her offer to him is that, if he doesn’t nominate her, she’ll play for the veto hard for him. Really? That’s all she has to offer? Will she want to use the power of veto on Lane? Her response is that he’ll have someone else in his corner for the veto. That’s not a no. As to next week, she does agree to do whatever for him that he does for her.

Nominations
Enzo is safe.
Kathy is safe.
Hayden is safe.
Britney is safe.
Matt is safe.

Lane and Ragan have been nominated for eviction. The hell? He just threw away every deal that was made to him. I don’t get the sense that he has a plan, or cares to have one.

So You Think You Can Dance Season 7 Winner

The top 3 performed in So You Think You Can Dance Season 7 Episode 22. Tonight we will find out whether Kent Boyd, Lauren Froderman, or Robert Roldan is the So You Think You Can Dance Season 7 winner.

Let the filler begin. Actually, though, this isn’t as bad as, say, an American Idol finale. We get to see some of the best dances of the season, whereas AI just has an endless parade of singers that nobody really cares about.

Following last night’s vote, the dancer in third place is Robert Roldan.

That leaves Lauren and Kent in the top two, which I think everybody pretty much saw coming after their routine together.

The votes have been counted, and the winner of So You Think You Can Dance is Lauren Froderman. Not the result I was expected, but a worthy winner nonetheless.

Fox seems to have learned its lesson from last season and will not be airing this show again in the fall. However, we should expect it to return next summer for season 8.

Big Brother 12 Episode 16

Britney won the power of veto and obviously did not use it in Big Brother 12 Episode 15, meaning yet another showmance will be broken up this week, much to everybody’s delight.

Britney apologizes to Rachel and gives her a hug. That was weird. She does not, however, hug Brendon, who she calls the spawn of Satan. Ragan, likewise, is easily offended by Brendon.

Brendon would prefer to take a dive rather than stay in this game. Rachel could be the wife/mother of his children. This guy’s an idiot. He agrees, too, saying “I guess I’m an idiot.” Even if that quote is somewhat out of context, it’s the only necessary part.

Enzo doesn’t get these people. They’re fighting each other. They should be fighting the Brigade. The rest of the house is just too stupid.

In spite of Brendon’s ridiculous veto ceremony speech, Ragan tells Rachel that she’s at the center of all the conflict in the house. Then Rachel starts crying. Again. Of course, Brendon marches over to defend her, without knowing what the conversation was about or why. Britney and Ragan find this all quite amusing and decide to poke Brendon with a stick.

Ragan’s next saboteur task is to create paranoia that the voted out person isn’t really leaving. Certainly a plausible scenario. Would not be the first time.

Julie asks: who is the most underestimated player left in the game, not including Brendon and Rachel who are on the block?

Matt: Kathy
Lane: Ragan
Britney: Ragan
Enzo: Hayden
Ragan: Ragan
Kathy: Ragan
Hayden: Britney
Rachel: Everybody
Brendon: Britney

Brendon’s ex-fiancee says that she’s heard everything he has said to Rachel. She and her family are amused/grateful while watching him on the show. Ultimately, though, I’m wondering why CBS is giving an ex the chance to air their story. We usually see friends, family, pets, co-workers… but never a bitter ex with an axe to grind.

Votes
Enzo: Rachel
Britney: Rachel
Kathy: Rachel
Ragan: Rachel
Lane: Rachel
Hayden: Rachel

By a vote of 6-0, Rachel has been evicted from the Big Brother house. Brendon did not get his wish, no matter how much of a fool he may have tried to make out of himself. It’ll be hilarious if he wins HOH, though. As she’s departing, he tells her he loves her. Would be nice if she made an effort to respond in kind for once. She says she has plans to move to LA, maybe. Britney’s departing words come off as bitchy. The other houseguests mostly play it smart.

Having made it to the halfway point, Rachel is off to the jury house. Julie tells her this may not be the last she’s seen of the Big Brother house.

The object of the HOH competition is to untangle themselves from all the knots they’re tethered to. They’ll have to deal with mud and chickens, too. Then a storm is brewing. This doesn’t look like it’ll go on for too long, but it will be long enough to continue beyond tonight’s show.

America’s Got Talent Season 5 Episode 22

The Youtube acts performed in America’s Got Talent Season 5 Episode 21, and one of them very quickly became a contender. Tonight four will advance.

Pup, Pizza Patt, Maestro Alexander Bui, and Austin Anderson are up first. Alexander Bui is the only one of these who could possibly advance, and he does. Piers tells him to stick to classical, but at least do something somebody’s heard of before.

Dylan Plummer, Dan Sperry, and Booker Forte are up next. As creepy as Dan Sperry may be, he certainly got people talking. That’s gonna be enough to get him through to the next round.

Ryan Rodriguez and Jackie Evancho are the next to step forward. Hands down Jackie stole last night’s show, and she’s the obvious choice to move to the next round.

The final spot is up for grabs between PLUtonic, Cam Hodges, and Kristina Young. The act leaving the competition is PLUtonic. Having placed fourth and fifth in the audience vote, the other two now have their fate in the hands of the judges. Not real thrilled with either of them considering the talent in the singing category. Howie votes for Cam because he’s got the most potential. Sharon votes for Kristina because she’s very pliable as an artist. Piers breaks the tie and votes for Kristina.

Big Brother 12 Episode 15

Matt won HOH in Big Brother 12 Episode 14, and unlike his first throw away nominations, he put Brendon and Rachel on the block. We were also greeted by the thoroughly lame saboteur twist again, with Ragan taking the power.

Brendon tries to kiss Rachel. She backs away. As usual. Stop trying already.

The contestants are given the opportunity to practice for the veto competition. Rather than practice, Rachel would prefer to cry. Uh. It’s just bowling. Brendon has to talk her into stopping her whining for the time being. They stay up into the wee hours of the morning practicing. It’s not as if they have much choice but to win. Granted, if one of them wins, the other is going home anyway.

It’s time to pick players for the veto competition.

Matt chooses Kathy at random.
Rachel chooses Britney at random.
Brendon chooses Enzo as houseguest’s choice.

Jeff and Jordan will be the hosts of the competition. They’re apparently still a couple. Jeff’s there to promote his show on CBS.com. Jordan’s there because, well, she knows Jeff.

There are 10 pins to be knocked down. They must knock a pin down in order to reveal another pin, and then knocking down the second of the two will clear them. Rachel knocks down 6 pins in 45 seconds. Rachel challenges Kathy, who eliminates Rachel by scoring 7 with a good amount of dumb luck. Realizing he’s blown it, Brendon only knocks down 3 pins. He challenges Britney, who eliminates him by scoring 5. Now it’s Brendon’s turn for a tantrum. Britney beats Enzo 9-8. Matt beats Ragan 9-7. Britney beats Kathy 8-7. In the final round, Britney beats Matt 10-7 to win the power of veto.

After the competition, Rachel would like to yell at Kathy for a while. She doesn’t like that Kathy celebrated when she beat her. Kathy’s not going to apologize because she didn’t do anything wrong. No matter how many times Rachel asks her again and again and again. This is just pitiful.

Ragan, please go to the diary room for your first sabotage. He has to turn Brendon and Rachel against each other. His message is that Brendon has been throwing competitions. Lame. Britney interprets the message as meaning that the saboteur wants them to target Brendon. The theory is that Rachel is the saboteur.

Rachel’s offer for Britney is $5,000 if she uses the veto. Not interested, and whoever is removed isn’t going to matter because the other one’s going anyway.

Rachel calls Britney a friend at the veto ceremony. Brendon has an alternative strategy. He calls Britney a selfish spoiled brat. Needless to say, Britney does not use the power of veto. Is he trying to throw the game so that Rachel stays? Seems he is.

America’s Got Talent Season 5 Episode 21

Murray, Taylor Mathews, Prince Poppycock, and ArcAttack advanced in America’s Got Talent Season 5 Episode 20. Tonight the Youtube acts perform. Apparently this year they realized that Myspace is passe.

PLUtonic is a group of student a cappella singers from Tacoma, Washington. Dressed in bow ties and sweater vests, they realize they’re geeks. Piers found that to be like being hit over the head with a big slab of cheddar, but he liked it. Sharon thought their performance was very good and confident, although she hates a cappella groups.

Dylan Plummer jumps rope, which is actually a sport and does not involve any singing in rhymes. Howie believes that was really good, but it needs time to be perfected. Piers was surprised that was entertaining.

Pup is an accordian playing dog. I hope this goes over better than Laika, the dog from Britain’s Got Talent who “played” the guitar, although that was amusing to watch. No. It doesn’t. It’s also not as funny without Simon. Piers buzzes. Howie gives a standing ovation. Piers claims that he saw Pup playing at a high level for about 10 seconds. Really? Sharon blames technical hitches.

Cam Hodges is a guitar playing singer who initially wanted to hide his talent. Piers was reminded, in parts, of James Blunt (from his home country). Howie thinks he made that unique, and he’s got a real shot considering how well he did on his first time out.

Ryan Rodriguez is a dancing plumber. Tonight he will opt to do the dance, rather than to install a tub. Piers buzzes. I don’t get it. There’s probably some talent in there somewhere, but it’s all quite chaotic. After telling Piers to shut up, Sharon tells Ryan he needs to get a group of others to put together an act. Howie doesn’t know what that was. Piers doesn’t get it either. He just knows that wasn’t dancing.

Austin Anderson is an auto mechanic comedian. Piers quickly buzzes him. He becomes mildly funny after a rough start. Howie wanted something more relateable than jokes about Facebook, which only has half a billion users (albeit mostly there to play Farmville).

Booker Forte is a hip hop dancer. Piers buzzes again because it was just nice, and his backing dancers were better than he is. Sharon’s seen it all before.

Pizza Patt tosses pizzas whereever he goes. Piers hates him just based on the video, and he buzzes. This hapens before Patt takes some flaming pizza dough. Sharon enjoyed the new form of juggling. Howie sees this all the time in pizzeria windows.

Kristina Young is a singer from South Dakota. She sings Carrie Underwood’s Before He Cheats, which for some reason requires dancers to be on stage with her. Howie thought that was good, although he doesn’t know if it was good enough. Piers goes one step further: it was not good enough, although it was not bad. At least he didn’t buzz her.

Maestro Alexander Bui is a 16 year old piano player, who practices 6-8 hours a day. Any time left to be a kid? We hear an X, and for a change it comes from Sharon. Magnificent… but boring. Piers says he’s the most naturally talented person all year. He tells him to ignore Sharon, but she’s not wrong. Something more relateable than classical music would give him a better shot.

Dan Sperry wants to show us the dark side of magic. He says he’s against things that are mainstream, which we can tell by the piercings/tattoos/assorted gothicness. He takes a mint and chews it. Hopefully there’s a point to all this. Then he gets out some floss. Wait. What? The floss is for his neck, and he pulls out a full mint. Howie runs away in terror, causing Sharon to laugh uncontrollably.

Jackie Evancho is the final contestant of the night. This 10 year old singer was chosen by Youtube audience votes. Wow. Is that voice really coming from that little girl? The rest of the night may have been a bust, but here’s someone who came out of nowhere to potentially give everybody else a run for their money. Howie says this is the moment they were hoping for with this show. Piers calls that one of the most extraordinary performances ever on this show.

Stay tuned to dingoRUE for another live recap of America’s Got Talent Season 5 Episode 22, which airs Wednesday at 9/8c on NBC.

Hell’s Kitchen Season 7 Winner

Following Ben’s complete meltdown and Autumn’s eventual elimination in Hell’s Kitchen Season 7 Episode 14, we were presented with a final two: Jay Santos and Holli Ugalde. One of them will the Hell’s Kitchen season 7 winner.

Ramsay takes the final two out. They’re wondering what the catch is. They run into hundreds of people cheering, and it’s the final challenge. They have one hour to cook five dishes, to be judged by five executive chefs from England. Jay gets the first point. The point for the cold appetizer is awarded to Holli. For the hot app round, Holli scores again. Winning the fish round, Jay ties it 2-2. In the tiebreaker, Jay wins the challenge.

Some friends/enemies have returned to fill out their kitchens. Having won the challenge, Jay will pick first.

Jay’s team: Ben, Jason, Fran
Holli’s team: Autumn, Nilka, Siobhan

Autumn’s worried that she will be buried by Siobhan’s lack of skill. She hopes she can get together enough money to go to cooking school.

On Jay’s team, Ben intends to take over to the extent he can. He still thinks he’s better than Holli and everybody else, in spite of the fact that he fell flat on his face for multiple weeks in a row before finally quitting.

Holli warns her team that she’s probably going to be a bitch. Thanks for the heads up.

Holli starts off by tripping over her words. Once she gets the order out, Siobhan immediately starts struggling. Jay hasn’t been left entirely untouched. On his side, he’s got to deal with Fran, who’s burning her scallops. With Siobhan still struggling, Autumn decides to take over for her on appetizers. Fran, however, is managing to hold her own for now.

Jason delivers some undercooked lamb. Ben’s suggestion is that Jay should follow his style and call him an idiot. Jay realizes that Jason does not react well to yelling, so he’d rather be calm and not get into an argument.

Nilka’s never cooked venison before, so this will be a a trial and error experience for her.

Autumn’s trying to do too many things. She doesn’t want any help. Nobody knows what they’re doing. There’s the team spirit.

Jay’s team finishes first, with Holli’s team not far behind.

After the service, Ramsay reviews the customer comment cards, and he’s made a decision. Both chefs stand in front of their doors. The chef whose door opens will become the winner and will be the head chef at the Savoy in London.

Holli certainly put forth a strong effort and made it further than anybody expected, but it would seem the outcome is not going to be her winning. It would seem wrong. Holli Ugalde is the Hell’s Kitchen season 7 winner. Ramsay explains that her victory is because she’s grown more than anybody else.
