The Biggest Loser Season 12 Episode 1

The Biggest Loser Season 12 is set to be a battle of the ages, as the teams will be decided by age. The Biggest Loser 12 cast of 15 contestants includes:

Antone Davis, 44, Knoxville TN, 447 pounds
Bonnie Griffin, 63, Picayune MS, 254 pounds
Courtney Rainville, 24, Scottsdale AZ, 270 pounds
Deborah “Debbie” Lounds, 60, Ann Arbor MI, 239 pounds
Jennifer Rumple, 39, Alameda CA, 330 pounds
Jessica Limpert, 26, San Francisco CA, 254 pounds
Joe Mitchell, 46, Knoxville TN, 348 pounds
John “Johnny” Forger, 65, Canton MA, 328 pounds
John Rhode, 40, Mesa AZ, 445 pounds
Mike Danley, 62, Spencerville IN, 309 pounds
Patrick Ferrari, 25, Albany OR, 387 pounds
Ramon Medeiros, 27, Florence CO, 355 pounds
Rebecca “Becky” Comet, 51, Benton AR, 238 pounds
Sunny Sinclair, 41, Frisco TX, 277 pounds
Vincent “Vinny” Hickerson, 27, Nashville TN, 426 pounds

After 10 seasons, Jillian Michaels decided to leave in favor of Dr. Phil. Hoping to find a replacement, they brought in two new trainers, Brett Hoebel and Cara Castronuova. Neither made the cut. So this year we are greeted by two new new trainers. Tennis star and swimsuit model Anna Kournikova may have the star power to stick around for a while. She is joined by complete unknown Dolvett Quince. Bob Harper is back just as he has been each of the last 11 seasons (plus three Australian seasons), while Alison Sweeney returns as host.

The contestants are dropped off in the desert in the middle of nowhere. I say let them walk back to town, but I don’t think that’s the plan. Alison drives up and tells them to line up in order of the numbers on their shirts, which happen to be their ages. Everyone under 30 forms one team, everyone over 50 is the second team, and everyone in between makes up the third team. They might not have to walk home, but they will have to walk a mile to be able to choose their trainer. The goal seems to be to get there first to get Bob. No lame 4 weeks of safety if you take a chance on the newbies.

The young team takes off quickly. The middle team is hoping to keep them in their sights and maybe catch up later. The seniors just hope to cross the finish line. I sense this is going to be the pattern of physical challenges throughout the season, but luckily for the older team, that’s only one aspect of the game. It’ll help to be young and relatively fit, but it ultimately comes down to weight loss. The middle team picks up speed to take the lead, which they retain to take the win. They opt to join Bob on the black team. Placing second, the young team selects Dolvett’s red team. Anna runs out to join her blue team to finish out their walk, and the other contestants join them. Alison leaves them with a challenge: they’ll return there at the end of the season to run a marathon, with the winning prize being a guaranteed spot in the finals.

Bonnie lost her husband 4 years ago and doesn’t want her grandkids to lose another grandparent. Antone used to be in the NFL and is watching offensive linemen younger than him die.

Debbie repeatedly asks for a break during the first workout. The only time you get a break is when you fall or vomit. Or you can walk out like Johnny threatens to do, though that never lasts more than a few minutes. Antone comments in his confessional how at least they give you breaks in the NFL. He keeps going in spite of the whimpering, but he realizes he’s not as big and bad as he thought.

Becky receives a phone call at 3:15AM informing her that her father has died. Needing something to do to take her mind off this, she heads to the gym.

They will weigh in from oldest to youngest.

Johnny: 311 pounds (-17, 5.18%)
Bonnie: 250 pounds (-4, 1.57%)
Mike: 297 pounds (-12, 3.88%)
Debbie: 233 pounds (-6, 2.51%)
Becky: 228 pounds (-10, 4.20%)
Blue Total: 1319 pounds (-49, 3.58%)

Joe: 326 pounds (-22, 6.32%)
Antone: 447 pounds (-32, 7.16%)
Sunny: 261 pounds (-16, 5.78%)
John: 408 pounds (-37, 8.31%)
Jennifer: 311 pounds (-19, 5.76%)
Black Total: 1721 pounds (-126, 6.82%)

Vinny: 405 pounds (-21, 4.93%)
Ramon: 338 pounds (-17, 4.79%)
Jessica: 239 pounds (-15, 5.91%)
Patrick: 367 pounds (-20, 5.17%)
Courtney: 254 pounds (-16, 5.93%)
Red Total: 1603 pounds (-89, 5.26%)

Blue team falls below the yellow line by a large margin. As the person with the highest percentage of weight loss on the losing team, Johnny is safe from elimination. Debbie says that she’s got a support system at home, and she finds Bonnie’s crying to be annoying. If you’re looking for an argument to get rid of someone, Debbie sure just made her case for going home. Her saving grace, though she apparently doesn’t want it, is that Debbie lost so little.

Votes
Becky: Debbie
Debbie: Bonnie
Johnny: Bonnie
Bonnie: Debbie

With 3 votes, Debbie is not The Biggest Loser. She didn’t seem to want to be there anyway. From her starting weight of 239 pounds, she is now down to 215 pounds.

Big Brother 13 Winner

Porsche voted to evict Jordan in Big Brother 13 Episode 28, bringing us down to a final three of Rachel, Adam, and Porsche. Tonight one of them will be crowned the Big Brother 13 winner. If it’s not Rachel, well, let’s not dwell on the alternative.

We start off with the first part of the HOH competition. Part 1 is endurance. Obviously Rachel’s going to win this like she won the other two endurance competitions. Adam drops after 28 minutes. Porsche drops at 46 minutes, and Rachel wins part 1 to move on to the final of 3 parts of this HOH competition.

Part 2 is to grab faces from the bottom of a tank and push them thruogh a maze to get them in the correct order of HOH wins. As Big Brother competitions go, this is a decent one, albeit pretty much entirely dependent on the ability to hold their breath under water. Adam finds an additional hindrance in the water. He can’t see with the goggles, so he tosses them, but he can’t see even worse without them, leading to him having to hop out of the tank and find them. Adam’s time is 6:03. Porsche beats him with a time of 3:50.

Rachel and Porsche have a final two deal. Both feel pretty comfortable this secures their position in the final two, but Adam doesn’t think that it would be smart to not take him.

Jordan thinks Rachel should win. Daniele calls her the biggest floater in the house. Huh? I guess she’s got to make up some lame reason for voting for Porsche. Kalia believes Rachel had the hardest road to the end and deserves to be there. Shelly’s still whining about that “lie” Rachel told about her making a final three deal. Can someone just show her the tapes already?

Jeff’s talked to Porsche about 8 minutes this summer. He didn’t even know she was in the house until day 52. I didn’t either. Kalia acknowledges that Porsche didn’t do anything except win a couple competitions.

Adam’s loyalty may buy him a couple of votes, but he didn’t do much either. However, at least he wasn’t invisible for a month or two. I didn’t even know Porsche was in the house most weeks until Julie asked her for her vote.

And for anybody who forgot it, Porsche and new jury member Kalia just followed Daniele around. That statement leads to an argument.

The final part of the HOH competition is the standard jury Q&A with two multiple guess options.

Brendon said the moment he is afraid to have his friends and family see is the moment he was evicted the second time. Both are wrong.

Daniele said the most shocking moment in the house was when she found out her dad would not be returning to the game. Rachel is correct.

Shelly said the fatal error she made in the house was voting to evict Jeff one week too soon. Both are wrong.

Jeff said the best thing about being in the house was getting to spend the summer with Jordan. Both are wrong.

Kalia said the biggest lie told in the house this season was anything that came out of Shelly’s mouth. Rachel is correct and wins the final HOH with 2 points.

Rachel has much better odds going up against Adam. His only support in that jury house is from people who support her more, while Porsche’s friends are going to vote for her no matter what. However, she opts to keep her word to Porsche and takes her to the final two. I don’t think it matters, though. She probably just sent her fourth vote to the jury.

The jury asks questions, and they stick Brendon with a jab at Rachel. She did a lot of hurtful things. Why should she be rewarded? She apologizes, but that doesn’t have anything to do with how she played the game.

Besides wearing a bikini and cooking, what else did Porsche do? She blames the golden key for the lack of effort.

What did Rachel do aside from winning competitions? She had one of the biggest targets on her back, but she survived anyway with a social game that was surprisingly functional.

When did Porsche start playing the game? Week 1. Really?

Evel Dick thinks the veteran alliance should have been the best alliance ever. His daughter disagrees. At least it was better than the Regulators, of which only the model is allowed to speak tonight. He declines to call her strategy stupid, but he calls it typical of playing too hard, too fast.

Jeff has patched things up with Shelly, but Daniele is not on his Christmas card list.

Brendon: Rachel
Daniele: Porsche
Jeff: Rachel
Shelly: Rachel
Kalia: Porsche
Jordan: Rachel
Adam: Porsche

By a vote of 4-3, Rachel Reilly is the Big Brother season 13 winner. Lucky for Rachel that Shelly voted based on gameplay because Adam threw her a curve ball. Far from the outcome I expected or wanted on day 1, but Rachel’s a deserving winner.

Jeff wins America’s favorite player and $25,000.

Following its highest rated season among adults 18-49 since 2004, Big Brother has been renewed for season 14. For those of you doing the math, 2004 was Big Brother 5, the season before one of the worst seasons ever. Yeah, yeah, I know everybody loved Howie and Janelle for some reason I still do not understand, but that didn’t make them any better than the Friendship.

America’s Got Talent Season 6 Winner

The final four contestants performed one last time in America’s Got Talent Season 6 Episode 31. Tonight one of them will be crowned the America’s Got Talent Season 6 winner. But first two hours of filler.

Most of tonight’s acts are falling flat for me, but LeAnn Rimes with Silhouettes is very good. This could easily be in their act.

With 90 minutes gone, the finalists gather on stage for the first result, which is already obvious. The act finishing in fourth place is Poplyfe.

In third place is Team iLuminate. I join Sharon as she struggles to pick her jaw off the ground, but perhaps they split their vote with the other dance act, which may not bode well for Silhouettes (who had half their act, judging, and phone number cut off to DVR viewers).

I expected this to come down to the two dance groups, but alas the final two are Silhouettes and Landau Eugene Murphy, Jr. Following America’s vote, the America’s Got Talent Season 6 winner is Landau Eugene Murphy, Jr. C’mon, America. Another singer, especially when the dance talent was so good? I’m almost better off watching American Idol, even with its horrendous judging panel.

Following its continued ratings success, America’s Got Talent has been renewed for season 7.

Survivor: South Pacific Episode 1

A new set of 18 castaways have gathered in Samoa to compete for the title of sole Survivor. The 16 newbies are joined by Ozzy and Coach. From Boston Rob and Russell down to Ozzy and Coach. This is the most pointless combination ever of two not good players. I came for the caviar; I ended up with a bologna sandwich. Brandon Hantz (Russell’s nephew) is arguably the bigger draw here than both of them.

The new contestants travel in on their boat. As I’m trying to get over the concept that some of them were stupid enough to wear jeans, we’re told two people are heading in by helicopter. The woman standing next to Brandon says she hopes one of them is not Russell. He will never, ever tell them his last name is Hantz. Too bad he’s got multiple tattoos that say it. Christine refers to them as temporary players.

So apparently Mikayla is a lingerie football player. I don’t know what that is. John Cochran (no relation to the guy who freed OJ I presume) wants to be called by his last name like Probst’s favorite players. He does not hide the fact that he’s a huge Survivor fan.

Ozzy picks a red egg; Coach picks a blue egg. That rounds out the tribes. Better news for the red tribe than the blue tribe. Ozzy may be one of the worst strategists in the history of the game, but he’ll be very useful at camp and in challenges.

Savaii (red): Dawn, Elyse, Jim, John, Keith, Mark, Ozzy, Semhar, Whitney
Upolu (blue): Albert, Brandon, Christine, Coach, Edna, Mikayla, Rick, Sophie, Stacy

The first challenge pits Coach against Ozzy. They’ll climb a 12 foot pole, grab a turtle, climb under a log, and solve a pyramid puzzle. Reward is taro (similar to potatoes) and flint. Obviously Ozzy takes the early lead in the climb, and he extends that lead in the climb. It’ll come down to the puzzle, though, and apparently neither of them was paying attention to the rules. Realizing they both suck at puzzles, they ask for advice. Boston Rob wouldn’t have needed help. Savaii wins reward.

Ozzy has decided that Semhar will be his partner in this. Hope that works out better for you than your alliance with Amanda did.

Christine says she’s going to look for firewood. It’s not lost on anybody this is code for going on a hunt for the hidden immunity idol.

Medical marijuana dispenser Jim pretends he’s a teacher.

Under Coach’s leadership, Upolu gets to work right away building their shelter. Ozzy’s suggestion: let’s go for a swim instead.

Unlike his uncle who sought out a pretty young girl to be his winggirl, Brandon does not feel comfortable around Mikayla.

5 people are sitting together on the first night. Coach suggests forming an alliance.

On the morning of day 2, Dawn’s breaking down already both physically and mentally. An easy first target.

Brandon’s goal is to be the provider. He catches the first fish, enough to feed a small child, but at least it’s a start.

The immunity challenge is an obstacle course through zigzag pathways and a web of coconuts and over a 10 foot wall. One tribe member will dig for a machete to chop ropes and release coconuts, which will then be used as basketballs. Upolu takes a bit of a lead. They perform better on the wall, but their lead is minimized on the digging. Semhar turns out to be useless at shooting, and Jim does not hide his disgust. In a close battle where the difference is just one coconut, Upolu wins immunity, fire, and a clue to the hidden immunity idol (the clue is hidden because it’s not like anybody needs clues to find the idols anyway).

They start looking for the clue right when they get back. Stacey thinks she could have stumbled right over it and not noticed. She would not be wrong in that belief.

On the other side, Semhar immediately goes off on Jim, telling him she did not like that he was making faces behind her back at the challenge. The immediate reaction is that she needs to go, but since Ozzy has decided he has a crush on her, which he might want to inform her of at some point, he defends her sticking around. His target instead is John, not the worst target, but not as logical a target as Semhar either. This is not smart, but what do you expect from Ozzy? His suspicious strong defense of her is not lost on Jim.

With 5 votes, Semhar has been voted off the island. She makes her way to Redemption Island, angry that people lied to her about not getting rid of her. If you can’t handle lying this early, you don’t want to be around when it gets really vicious.

America’s Got Talent Season 6 Episode 31

After being the top vote getters in America’s Got Talent Season 6 Episode 30, Team iLuminate, Poplyfe, Silhouettes, and Landau Eugene Murphy Jr. will perform for America’s final votes tonight.

Landau Eugene Murphy, Jr. sings My Way by Frank Sinatra. Piers says that was a million dollar performance. Sharon apparently thinks he didn’t play it safe.

Team iLuminate go big in their final dancing in the dark performance. Sharon says this is the reason why this show is so different than any other (this year when singers aren’t dominating at least). Piers takes it a step further, that this is what this country is about, creative young people with a vision. Howie thinks they’re at a disadvantage as a group.

Poplyfe switches to Queen. Why is one of the boys joining in with the girl with the decent voice who happens to be missing some notes? The judges offer encouragement to the extent they can.

I hope you weren’t depending on Tivo to view this final performance, which starts at 58 minutes. Silhouettes round out the show with a tribute to a wonderful world.

Big Brother 13 Episode 28

After Kalia’s elimination in Big Brother 13 Episode 27, Adam secured himself a spot in the final three by winning HOH.

I thought Jordan’s vote was planned by Rachel so that Rachel could personally vote out Kalia, but the reality is that Jordan didn’t want that jury member’s blood on her hands.

Jordan’s worried that Adam’s plan is to ditch them and take Porsche with him to the end. Not a bad plan, but ick. Can the jury just vote present in that scenario?

Nominations
Rachel is safe.

Jordan and Porsche have been nominated for eviction. Adam says that, if you want to be in the final three, you have to earn it. Apparently, he believes he has earned it. He is alone here.

It’s time for the final veto competition, which is the real power of this week because the winner is safe and will decide who gets evicted. Each jukebox has 20 clues, and they have 10 pairs of names that must match those clues correctly. They have to think about what happened throughout the season, with questions about things like the fourth HOH alongside completely pointless things like who hosted the fourth veto competition. Porsche is the first to buzz in, but she has 1 wrong. Her second attempt is correct, and Porsche wins the power of veto.

That gives Porsche the lone vote to evict, and she can choose from either Rachel or Jordan, the two biggest threats in the house.

Porsche thinks that her chances of winning are better against Jordan because she already won two years ago, a path she’s headed down again this year, as people have been silly enough to ignore that she could potentially win it all again. I’m not sure how being a previous winner is a disqualification to doing that. She also thinks that, if Rachel wins this final HOH competition, which she’d no doubt be in the running for since it starts off as an endurance competition, she’ll take her to the final two.

At the final veto ceremony, Porsche pulls herself off the block, and Rachel goes up in her place. Jordan says she knows she’s going home, as she barely even knows Porsche. This concludes with Porsche’s vote to evict Jordan. Now I’m left with no choice but to root for Rachel. Weird how this season has turned out.

The final HOH competition will be split into three parts. We start off with the Big Brother mixer. They’ll have to stand on a giant mixer as long as they can. I assume they’re going to be dipped in the goop sooner rather than later.

Stay tuned to dingoRUE for another live recap of Big Brother 13 Episode 29, where we will find out who the Big Brother 13 winner is, which airs Wednesday at 9:30/8:30c on CBS.

America’s Got Talent Season 6 Episode 30

The top 10 performed in America’s Got Talent Season 6 Episode 29. Tonight 4 of them will advance to next week’s finale.

Team iLuminate and Smage Bros. are the first two acts. Clearly Team iLuminate is the first group to advance to the finals.

Miami All Stars and Lys Agnes are next. After last night, I don’t think either of them will make it. They don’t.

Poplyfe and Landon Swank are the third duo. My pick here is Landon hands down, although I’ve been confused by Poplyfe’s popularity all along. Poplyfe advances to the finals. I still don’t get it.

Silhouettes and West Springfield Dance Team are next. Along with Team iLuminate, Silhouettes are the favorites to win this season, so they’re obviously advancing to the finals.

Anna Graceman and Landau Eugene Murphy, Jr. are the final pair of the night. Tough call. Landau is the last person to advance to the finals.

Big Brother 13 Episode 27

Rachel won HOH in Big Brother 13 Episode 26 and proceeded to nominate Porsche and Kalia.

Porsche and Kalia have just one hope. If Adam wins the veto, Jordan gets nominated, and they would have the votes to get rid of her. Not a bad idea.

Otev the shark wants some pies, which are named after houseguests. Jordan stumbles her way to elimination in the first round. Rachel is the next one out. Kalia’s the third one down. Porsche incorrectly identifies Keith as this summer’s biggest loser, forgetting that Shelly is the one who lost all 17 competitions. In doing so, she gives Adam the opportunity to get back first with the correct answer and win the power of veto.

Shelly heads to the jury house unable to realize where she went wrong, and an argument with Jeff ensues. She talks about how she wanted to switch back to Rachel and Jordan and her word to stick with them would be good, so she doesn’t know why they didn’t pick her. Really?

Kalia makes Adam an offer to not nominate him next week. As if it matters. The veto winner decides who goes home in the final four, not the HOH, unless the HOH happens to win both. Odds of Kalia winning both? I’m gonna go with less than 0. She does have a valid argument, though. Adam needs to make a big move if he wants any hope, but ultimately it’s too late anyway.

At the veto ceremony, Adam opts to not use the power of veto.

Votes
Jordan: Porsche
Adam: Kalia

With a tie vote, Rachel gets to cast the deciding vote, no doubt exactly as she wanted. Rachel votes to evict Kalia. Kalia talks about how her goal was to beat the vets. Like her best friend due to lack of other options Daniele?

The fortune teller finally speaks, keeping them up all night. Of course, the HOH competition is based on this. Everybody gets the first question right, one which shows up what to expect from this competition: it’s only false due to a couple of mixed around words and the word clown shoe being singular. Adam and Porsche get the second question right. Adam and Jordan score a point on the next question. Adam and Jordan score again on the fourth question. And again. Everybody gets the next question right. Adam is the new HOH.

Stay tuned to dingoRUE for another live recap of Big Brother 13 Episode 28, which airs Thursday at 9/8c on CBS.
