Big Brother 8 Episode 27

Following his confrontation with Dick in which Dick basically let him know he had to win or he’d be going home, Zach won the endurance HOH competition in Big Brother 8 Episode 26. With his new power, the previously invisible Zach let everybody know he was thinking endgame, putting up the two people the jury likes the most: Jessica and Jameka. I do agree Jessica is the biggest threat, so while I’m not so sure this is the best move he could have made, if he can get her out, it will have been a useful week, and he ironically will not be blamed. Of course, if she stays, there will be hell to pay. At this stage of the game, tonight’s veto has the potential to be interesting. If Dick or Danielle get it, it’s unlikely it will be used because it would put the other one at risk of going up. If Eric gets it, Zach will have no choice but to nominate Dick or Danielle in Jessica’s place. If ever there were a time for Eric to actually try at a competition, this is it.

Jessica thinks she would have been safer if Zach left last week. Apparently then Dick and Danielle wouldn’t have turned on her I guess. Eric feels guilty because his decision to support Amber’s eviction last week is the key factor in Jessica being on the block, and he’s worried that he’ll lose her.

Dick upsets Danielle by… opening his mouth. More bickering ensues. He tries to apologize, she ignores him, she whines, he leaves mad. So pretty much the same as every other conversation they have.

While the houseguests are sleeping, Janelle sneaks into the house. Zach wakes everybody up and tells them it’s time for the veto competition. They show a picture of Janelle, to which Eric responds, “Looks like Miss Piggy meets Janelle. Must be her after the weight gain.” Immediately after, Janelle walks out to greet them. Whatever points Eric gained with America by booting Amber, he lost by insulting Dr. Will’s favorite puppet.

In the competition, the houseguests spin in a pink chair and must then do the morphomatic. They have 4 minutes to complete as many as possible.

Dick embarasses himself by primarily focusing on flirting with Janelle, who thinks he’s hot anyway (way to stay neutral), so maybe it wasn’t too embarassing. Without trying to flirt at all, Eric and Jameka somehow end up doing worse than him, though.

Dick-4
Zach-6
Eric-3
Jameka-2
Danielle-7
Jessica-4

Danielle wins the power of veto. She can either use it to seal someone’s fate or risk taking out Eric at the expense of possibly putting her dad in the line of fire.

As with prior weeks, Jameka is seen as a non-threat because she can’t compete for the next HOH. All her crying about it being a mistake was silly. It doesn’t matter if you can’t win HOH. Winning HOH normally is a bad idea anyway.

Eric believes the alliance is strong, but as Zach warned just a week ago, Dick and Danielle will decide who goes home, and there’s not a great deal Eric can do about it. He tries to convince Jessica of this, but she’s a realist.

The America’s Player task is to mimic Dick. Eric is happy to do it. He thinks it’s a good chance to bond, and Dick thinks it’s hilarious to boot. This actually did turn out to be one of the more entertaining tasks of the season.

Dick’s concerned that turning on Jessica may look bad, but it’s not like either of them have any jury votes anyway, unless they’re up against each other. Of course, if they do turn and either Eric or Jessica win HOH next week, they’re both going up, and one of them’s gone.

Danielle decides not to use the veto. Jessica doesn’t trust them and never has. At the very least, I hope America isn’t cruel enough to make Eric vote out Jessica. This week will be a special live double eviction week, so it should be an action packed (read: rushed) show on Thursday.

Big Brother 8 Episode 26

We left off in Big Brother 8 episode 25 with the eviction of Amber, followed by an endurance HOH competition. History has shown CBS will probably drag this out at least twice as long as needed, but we will eventually find out who is the HOH and who they choose to nominate.

Everybody still has the outcast mentality about Zach, and they all feel pretty good that it’s 3 against 1. Eric’s a disaster at this competition as usual, and it wouldn’t be wise for him to win anyway since America would probably make him nominate Jess. Considering he’s so far behind, Eric proceeds to go for the phone call from home instead. At 1 hour 45 minutes, BB makes an offer of two larger cups at the price of one day on cold water for the whole house per cup. Everybody in the competition takes the offer.

It came down to Dick and Zach at the end, as Eric and Danielle were so far behind it was pointless. Dick was particularly scared of Zach since he stuck his foot in his mouth two hours before the competition by attacking Zach, who pled his case but didn’t back down or get scared. And Zach is the new HOH. This goes back to the theory of Zach being a vote. Jessica with her HOH (and moreso because of Eric’s lame attempt to pacify America and boot Amber) managed to piss him off, rather than pulling him closer. Moreover, as Zach warned last week, unless they’re nominated, Dick and Danielle will decide who goes home.

Eric decides to give the call to Jessica, which was a nice gesture, because he didn’t want it anyway, and an attempt to apologize for being stupid last week. He then comes up with the plan to go after Jameka and make a deal with Zach.

It’s time to see Zach’s HOH room. Nobody cares. Nobody even pretends to care. These people aren’t getting any brighter.

Zach asks the question “Can you really trust a guy named Dick?”

Eric comes clean and tells Jessica he cast the stray votes. As much as he wants to tell her he’s America’s Player, he’s not allowed to do so. She figures out the mustard incident.

Jessica gets a call from her younger brother, who just go back from Iraq. The typical short tearful chat we see on Big Brother, but it seems like it was positive for her both emotionally and potentially in terms of how she’s perceived.

America wants Eric to get Jameka to get nominated. Ever since he changed his strategy to pleasing America rather than thinking on his own, he’s been getting votes that go along with his strategy, so this should be pretty easy for him to pitch. Zach doesn’t understand how he can benefit by keeping Jameka around, making this a logical move for him as well. Dick and Danielle, meanwhile, hatch a plot that will get rid of either Eric or Jessica without getting any blood on their hands: having Zach nominate both of them.

The America’s Player tonight is who America wants Eric to mimic to demonstrate just how annoying they can be. He should be able to skate by this no matter what as just being a joke.

It’s time for the nominations.

Jessica and Jameka have been nominated for eviction. He put up the two people who are the most well liked by the jury, leaving the weasel, the whiner, and the asshat as safe (feel free to assign these descriptions as you see fit). Jessica knew she was going up and understood. Jameka got upset. Eric blames himself for Jessica’s nomination, as he should. There’s always the veto, but it would make a lot of sense to get rid of Jessica if the nominations were to stay as they are now. Zach’s been largely invisible until this point, but I liked how he handled himself tonight.

Big Brother 8 Episode 25

In Big Brother 8 Episode 24, Eric had the chance to step up and make a game changing move by backdooring Danielle, but much to the chagrin of Jessica and the rest of the house, he left the nominations the same. It appears he may have been trying to get America to like him by getting rid of Amber, and the way he’s playing, he’d better hope more of America find him and Jessica cute rather than nauseating, at least in large enough numbers to overcome Dick’s popularity. So tonight’s boot will either be Amber or Zach. I can see pros and cons to both, but I suspect it’s time for Amber’s final tears of the season. There is some speculation that tonight we may see a double eviction week, since there are two weeks left and 6 players after the next eviction. Find out in another live blog.

Jessica starts crying after the veto ceremony because she’s getting rid of someone who likes her, rather than Dick and Danielle who have no use for her. Zach and Amber both start scrambling, but most people’s minds are already made up. Amber swears on her daughter’s life (again and again and again) for a Danielle vote. She also makes some accurate arguments to Jessica about Eric, but it doesn’t take much time for Eric to reverse this damage. Zach promises Dick he’s with him, though it’s unclear where his loyalties actually are.

America wants Amber evicted by a margin of 78%.

Eric’s brother acknowledges that he isn’t dating Cheryl (perhaps because she rejected him three weeks before they went into the house).

It’s time to vote.

Jameka-Zach
Eric-Amber
Dick-Amber
Danielle-Amber

By a vote of 3-1, Amber has been evicted from the house.

It’s time for HOH. This is Jameka’s fourth week of five of not being able to compete. The challenge is to move a large volume of tea with a teacup from one side to another. The cups hold 3 ounces of tea, and it takes 16 gallons to fill the tanks. The distance is equivalent to 7 miles, assuming they have a full cup each time. Yep, this will take quite some time. To make matters worse, the addition of corn oil and baby oil should make things a lot more slippery (and dangerous), though it may also help them go faster.

Want to know who won HOH? Head on over to the Big Brother 8 Spoilers page.

As expected, this is a double eviction week. There will be a double live eviction next Thursday, with a cameo appearance by Janelle on Tuesday’s veto competition.

Big Brother 8 Episode 24

In Big Brother 8 episode 23, Jessica nominated her former ally Amber and wannabe ally Zach for eviction. A much less obvious outcome than last week.

We start off with Amber praying to stay in the game. Yeah, because that’s something new. Danielle wisely goes up to Zach and tries to make him feel better. These people need to embrace the outcast who is a potential vote, not make him more of an outcast. Next CBS continues to try to push Eric and Jessica together. Then it’s Jameka’s turn to pray (but a thankful prayer, rather than Amber’s angry prayers). Jess takes the opportunity to bond with Jameka over religion.

Zach attempts again to break up the relatives by talking about them being a threat with Jessica (he will later pitch this to Eric as well). Since they most likely have America’s backing, it’s going to get harder and harder to get rid of even one of them, so it is a logical plan even when you don’t consider the family bond, however weak it may appear.

Amber and Danielle bomb out on Power of 10. Danielle’s most upset that she couldn’t see Nick.

Then what CBS has been waiting for finally happens. Eric awkwardly works his way up to kissing Jessica. Her initial response is not all that surprising considering they’ve been in the house for two months: “It’s about time.”

It’s time for the veto.
Jessica picks Danielle at random.
Zach picks Eric (houseguest’s choice).
Amber picks Jameka at random.
Dick is the host.

The backyard is transformed into a swamp. A cat tells the houseguests an answer, and they must hunt for the riddle that describes that person/thing. The last person back is eliminated. Pretty similar to the one last year where Janelle “assaulted” James (and BB’s 5 dozen cameras “didn’t have a good angle”). Jessica is the first one eliminated. Jameka is next eliminated. Danielle is out next. Eric just barely beats Zach back. He then proceeds to inch out Amber, who for whatever reason appeared to be taking her time, and wins veto, giving Eric and Jessica all the power this week. Danielle is concerned about what will happen with the veto, and Dick comes to the conclusion that they have to get rid of Jessica.

America tells Eric to kiss Jessica, which is easy enough since he’d already done so on his own. He thought Dick would be a good choice just like I did, though.

Jessica doesn’t understand what benefit there is to keeping both Dick and Danielle. I don’t understand either. Eric, however, argues the point of keeping them. The only logic I can think of behind Eric’s choice is because he fears America will force him to vote to keep Danielle, which he set himself up for by pushing so hard for Dustin’s eviction. Either that or he’s trying to win over America so they do something in his favor, rather than whatever favors ED. Jessica says if Eric is thinking of what she wants, he’ll use the veto.

Eric decides to not use the power. Amber believes that means he’s evil and has no soul. Zach just says it’s a dumb move. This does make for an interesting scenario. As much as Amber doesn’t care for Eric, she hates Dick with a passion, so she’s more likely to ally with Eric. Zach, meanwhile, could have just been alienated back to the other side, a side which trusts him a lot more than they trust Amber. As for America’s vote, I’d anticipate it going toward Amber. As invisible as Zach is, Amber seems to provoke a stronger (negative) reaction. Who do you think will be going home?

Big Brother 8 Episode 23

When we left the hamsters in Big Brother 8 Episode 22, Jessica was crowned as the new HOH. With the exception of Zach, whoever she puts on the block, she’s breaking a bond with them, though even Zach has attempted to bond more with Jess than anyone else. Will she stick to her new alliance with Dick & Danielle, or will she gravitate back toward Jameka and Amber and not completely destroy that former alliance?

Tonight we start off with Big Brother whining about Jen eating again. Of course, there is no mention of Zach defending her choice. I may be in the minority, but I quite enjoyed it. She knew she was a goner and had been harassed all season. No need to follow some lame requirement that should not have been implemented in the first place (slop was lame for All Stars, and it’s lame now). We then relive everybody being stupid and forgetting she’s going to be in the jury house.

Eric fully knows he’s got no game with women but thinks he is the best choice of the remaining guys, which he’s probably right about. While walking out the door, Jen apparently told Amber to tell Jessica that Eric has a girlfriend named Cheryl and is a cheater. Eric plays it off as an on and off undefined thing.

Speaking of whining, Danielle continues to whine about/to her father. She doesn’t want him to be a parent, rude, or gross. Good luck with that. Eric and Jess think the fight is fake.

It’s time for a luxury competition for a Big Brother shopping spree. Jess decides to make it boys against girls. Everybody needs to strip to find the letters on their clothing to spell out words related to competitions. The girls panic. They will be covered in suds, but not completely. Amber manages to spell a word, which is probably the biggest surprise of the competition. Eric spells the word goat, which apparently has something to do with a competition he imagined. And that’s the kind of brainpower that was predominant on the male side. So obviously the girls won the shopping spree, where they had two minutes to grab as many clothes as they could.

Wow. This is. Wow. This segment on Amber’s delusion about being on America’s Next Top Model is leaving me speechless.

America tells Eric to get Amber nominated. Pretty easy task. His next task is to get him to kiss someone. Okay, now this is one time it would be hilarious for someone to vote for Dick, but it’s a pretty safe bet this one has to be Jessica, who he has already (finally after two months) kissed.

It’s time for nominations.
Eric-Safe
Danielle-Safe
Jameka-Safe
Dick-Safe

Zach and Amber have been nominated for eviction. Jessica would be comfortable with either of them leaving. Pretty safe week if one of them goes, as she retains both her relationship with Eric and Jameka and her word with Dick and Danielle. Will these nominations stick, or will she use veto to take out a real threat? Might be a bit too early to make a big move, but it’s not like there’s a lot of time left either. Granted, getting rid of Amber wouldn’t exactly hurt, and it would force Jameka to look to Jessica as her closest ally.

Big Brother 8 Episode 22

In episode 21, the contestants finally got what they’ve been hoping for since week one: Jen finally got (and stayed) on the block. I’m not so sure it’s the smartest move to get rid of her, but it does appear quite likely that they will. Can she somehow manage to scramble and save her life in the house?

Dick’s truce with Jen is over, as he doesn’t believe he needs her any more. He’s probably right, but instead of waiting to be sure, he jumps the gun as usual and immediately just assumes he’s going to get what he wants.

Jen seems pretty carefree about the nomination but decides she doesn’t want to go to sequester. She immediately packs and starts cooking, despite the fact that she’s supposed to be on slop for 30 days. Then proceeds to grab Dick’s cigarettes and destroy them. In retaliation, Dick steals her clothes.

And it’s time to eat: a turkey burger, cottage cheese, and an apple, none of which resemble slop. Stick it to the man. Of course, Big Brother is not happy with her decision. She receives a penalty vote in return, as if it matters. Nobody else has ever been bold enough to break the food restriction rule, as threats by BB are normally enough to prevent it. While she’s trying to eat, Dick blows smoke in her face, and things get even more heated. She tries to take away his cigarette, and he obviously has no problem using it as a weapon against her.

Amber and Danielle get to go on Power of Ten as their reward for coming in first and second in the veto competition. Amber’s cousin is there to meet her. It goes without saying that Danielle’s boyfriend isn’t anywhere within 1000 miles, but Nick shows up to greet her. Amber waves to the crowd as if she’s popular. The show will air on Tuesday on CBS.

Danielle looks forward to sitting with her dad in the final two because she feels nobody likes him. As we get closer to to finding out the winner, this actually becomes a more compelling reason for everybody to keep him around.

Votes:
Big Brother-Jen
Amber-Jen
Dick-Jen
Eric-Jen
Zach-Jen
Jessica-Jen

By a vote of 6-0, Jen has been evicted from the Big Brother house. This leaves us with three pairs of two and one wildcard (Zach). I’d be surprised if someone doesn’t regret not making a deal to grab Jen as another swing vote. Dick, of course, does not say goodbye to Jen, and is the first person I can recall to ever to leave the room when someone’s leaving. These two should have much fun together in sequester. Despite that, everybody has positive farewell comments. As positive as “you’re not as bad as I first thought” can be anyway.

Jameka is on week three of not being able to compete for HOH, which has been helpful for her thus far, making her seem non-threatening. Jen gets to dunk anyone who answers incorrectly in the competition.

Joe said a slop diet would best suit Zach. Everybody got it right.
Carol said Jessica (her arch enemy) would do worst in a spelling bee. Eric got it wrong.
Kail said she would give her bible to Dick. Everybody got it wrong.
Nick said he was least fond of Zach streaking. Amber and Zach got it incorrect.
Joe said his BB experience could best be described as Meet The Fockers. Dick got it incorrect. Jessica is the new HOH. The most logical target from here is Amber and Jameka. However, Eric has a lot of influence over her, so America may be able to change that. Granted, I suspect America will likely vote for one of those two, thereby just simply cementing the nomination.

Big Brother 8 Episode 21

It’s one crazy Tuesday here at dingoRUE, with the On The Lot winner and America’s Got Talent 2 winner, but it’s also Big Brother night, so I’m obviously going to do a live blog of that as usual. In episode 20, Danielle nominated Amber and Jameka for eviction but revealed that her actual target is Jen. Will the nominations remain the same, or will the veto change them?

Jameka doesn’t buy Danielle’s explanation that she’s nominating them because they’re nice to people, nor should she. Jameka is in reality just a placeholder, one who can’t participate in the next three HOH competitions. Jen feels somewhat safe but doesn’t believe the nominations are the true targets.

Whether there’s anything there or not, CBS wants Eric and Jess to be in love. Zach, on the other hand, just wants to mess with Eric’s mind and run interference.

Amber says she had a vision sent from God that she will win the POV, save herself, and get to the final two with Jameka. Amber also says she’s not going to cry any more (while crying). I’m not touching this with a ten foot pole.

Eric gets his task from America. He first has to figure out what the hell a woobie is. America rightfully tells him to give his childhood woobie to Jessica. He gives it to her in bed and hops in there with her.

Zach and Danielle start talking about all the people they hate, which is everybody, and both settle on Jen at the end of the conversation.

It’s time for the veto. The winner and the second place finisher will win a trip outside the house.
Danielle picks Dick (houseguest’s choice).
Amber picks Jessica at random.
Jameka picks Zach at random.
Eric is the host.

The competition is taken from a survey. The furthest away from the actual answer is eliminated. There are also motorcycles involved for some reason.

What % think Kail would make a good politician? Actual 19%. Dick was the furthest away with 78% and is eliminated.
What % think life in the Big Brother house is easy? Actual 14%. Zach is eliminated with 62%.
What % think Dustin is a better boyfriend than Joe? Actual 47%. Jessica is eliminated with 67%.
What % would rather have a beer with Nick than Mike? Actual 70%. Jameka is eliminated with 87%.
What % said Zach was the sexiest bunny of all? Actual 35%. Amber is eliminated, and Danielle wins the power of veto, giving her the chance to change the nominations if she wants.

Danielle and Amber are thinking along the same lines. Danielle asks for a one week deal of not being put up. Without Danielle saying a word beyond that, though, Amber is a dumbass and begins promising everything, including a vote against Jameka if needed, safety for the entire time she’s in the house, and yet again swears on her daughter’s life. Jameka warned her not to give up too much, and Amber said she wouldn’t, but so much for that.

As originally planned, Danielle has removed Amber from the block. In her place, Jen is nominated. I don’t like Jen’s odds of survival here. Dick and Amber will vote against her, which means her fate is in Zach’s hands, someone who never liked her (but is at least a wildcard), and then from there she has to get America on her side to swing Eric and Jessica, which might not be that easy because despite Jen being seemingly more popular than Jameka, America may just do whatever Dick wants.

The special trip out of the house is a promotion as usual. Danielle and Amber will appear on Power of 10.

Stay tuned to dingoRUE for another live blog of Big Brother 8 episode 22, which airs Thursday at 8/7c on CBS.

Big Brother 8 Episode 20

In typical Big Brother fashion, the balance of power shifted on Big Brother 8 Episode 19, and the side that was in danger the week before somehow won HOH. Now that Danielle’s in power, will we see something unpredictable happen, or will the nominations be pretty much as expected (again)?

The show starts off with Amber crying and crying some more… and then crying some more. Eric suffers even more fallout because of what America makes him do, yet somehow he still seems to be in a pretty good position.

Danielle gets no pictures of her boyfriend and a letter from Nick. No need to draw any conclusions here, as they’ve already been arrived at weeks ago.

A montage of all the words Amber doesn’t know. Scary. Eric then attempts to smooth things over with her, which probably isn’t necessary but couldn’t hurt. She acts tough in the diary room but eventually does figure out with Jameka that they’ve been sold down the river.

After watching the contestants play beer pong for a couple weeks (and Eric dress up in Jessica’s clothing), the food competition is a combination of beer pong and a toga party. (Yeah, these competitions are really planned out months in advance. We believe it. Honest.) In a close game, Amber, Jameka, Jen, and Danielle end up on slop.

America wants Eric to get Amber nominated for eviction. An easy task that thanks to Thursday is now in line with his gameplan. Dick seems to be really grateful to Eric for giving him a second chance in the game, but Danielle’s not so sure because she doesn’t trust him any more than she trusts anyone else (except her dad) in the house, which is not at all.

His next task is to give his childhood woobie to one of the houseguests. The logical choice here is Jess, but I don’t see how any answer could actually turn out bad for him.

Nominations for HOH:
Jessica-Safe
Jen-Safe
Dick-Safe
Zach-Safe
Eric-Safe

In yet another way too obvious nomination ceremony, Amber and Jameka are nominated for eviction. Amber believes she’s being nominated because everybody likes her, and Danielle wisely plays on that and tells both of them they have too many friends. At the end of the day, though, Danielle is actually targetting Jen and hoping that this time a backdoor doesn’t completely blow up in her face like it did with Eric. Will the nominations stick, or will someone get off the block and be replaced by Jen?
