Survivor: Ghost Island Winner

The talk of getting rid of a big threat again quickly fizzled in Survivor: Ghost Island Episode 13 with the elimination of Kellyn. That brought us down to a final six of Domenick, Wendell, Donathan, Laurel, Sebastian, and Angela. Meh.

Despite Donathan’s ridiculous attempt to blow up his own game, he’s still not the target by the people he poorly tried to get rid of last time.

For the immunity challenge, they will race through a maze collecting puzzle pieces and solve the puzzle. Reward is steak dinner. Sebastian, Wendell, Angela, and Laurell are in the lead from the beginning. Domenick is about one bag behind. Donathan is quickly out of it. Wendell wins immunity. He chooses Sebastian to join him on reward, repaying the favor. Then he also picks Angela, who has not had rewards. Reasonable logic, but it doesn’t prevent Laurel from being angry and whining about it.

Laurel is complaining so much about something that really doesn’t matter that Domenick is getting worried.

There are so many advantages floating around that it’s silly. Again. Among them is Sebastian’s extra vote. Sebastian, Donathan, and Angela discuss voting out Domenick. Angela warns Domenick of this. Though the three had planned to not even tell Laurel because they don’t really need her vote in this plan, Donathan tells her anyway. With Angela talking to whoever will listen and being generally unreliable, they may need her after all.

Donathan plays the “I’m going home tonight” angle again that nobody is buying. Because Donathan refuses to comment, Domenick fills in everybody on Sebastian’s plan. Then he pulls out his fake idol and his real idol and makes a big production about how he’s not going home. Too over the top to be believeable. Not to be outdone, Wendell also pulls out his idol.

Before the vote happens, Domenick plays his real fake idol.

With 3 votes, Sebastian has been voted off the island. These dummies just gave both Wendell and Domenick a free pass to the final four.

For the immunity challenge, they will swim to a platform and back, make their way through a series of obstacles collecting puzzle pieces, and solve a puzzle. Wendell leads the whole time and wins immunity.

Donathan and Angela can’t be trusted, while Laurel is the only one of the three who poses somewhat of a challenge threat.

Domenick plays his idol. Since he already has individual immunity, Wendell plays his hidden idol for Laurel, a gesture with a lot of build up that is purely symbolic because she’s not going home if they don’t want her to go home. This is not impressive a move as Wendell seems to think, but perhaps it will gain him some favor from Laurel.

With 3 votes, Donathan has been voted out of the game. I’m surprised he lasted this long. He has been playing a historically bad game the past few episodes.

For the final immunity challenge, they will stack balls using a pole while standing on a wobbly balance beam. Wendell jumps out to an early lead again. Domenick is the first to drop, and so does Laurel. Just as he’s about to stack his final ball, Wendell drops. So does Angela. Being the first to drop is an advantage for Domenick because he’s now in the lead. Domenick wins immunity.

Domenick can choose whoever he wants to bring with him. The other two must make fire. Such a lame twist that hopefully gets retired after this, but at least this time they seem to have some warning about it. Domenick has no plans to choose Wendell, though he will probably win the fire challenge if he is forced into it. Laurel acknowledges that she would suck at making fire, which will probably make her the choice, though Domenick doesn’t respect it. He even goes so far as to help Angela practice making fire, though either choice is likely hopeless to the point where he may as well just take Wendell and say he wants to go against the best.

He comes up with an alternate proposal. Give Angela his necklace and take on Wendell himself at fire making. That would put him at risk tonight but give him a slam dunk finale if he pulls it off. Interesting but unlikely.

Vote
Laurel

Angela and Wendell will now compete in a fire making challenge with a foregone conclusion. Laurel may be completely incompetent, but Angela’s not exactly a threat. Wendell easily wins before Angela is able to even light a fire.

It’s the Wendell and Domenick show, which it has been for weeks, and these people, most notably Laurel, who has no chance against either of them, have failed to pursue multiple opportunities to do something about it. If she had eliminated one of them, she could have a big move on her resume, instead of being seen as a coattail rider.

Still, to the extent that they have been viewed as the power duo, it’s hard to really see what Wendell has done. He can’t even articulate it. He talks about building things at camp, which doesn’t matter. Then he says he was loyal, for example when he saved Laurel with his idol, which he didn’t because saving would imply she was in danger of going home.

Kellyn asks who worked with them and who brought them in. Three out of the five people answer Domenick. Laurel answers herself. Sebastian is the only one to say Wendell.

It’s tied. In the event of a tie, the person who nobody was going to or did vote for because she played such a bad game will cast the deciding vote.
