Survivor: Game Changers Episode 7

Jeff Varner found himself grasping at straws to try to stick around in Survivor: Game Changers Episode 6 before ultimately sticking his foot in his mouth by outing Zeke as transgender. It is described as desperation, but it can be and was taken as a malicious act that aside from that didn’t even make any sense on either a game or personal level. You can get away with a lot in Survivor. It has been pointed out that Zeke is not innocent in how he has treated other players either, like mocking David’s sometimes questionable mental state. But this was generally panned as crossing the line regardless of however other Survivors may have treated each other in the past. Even Jeff himself regretted saying what he did and agreed to go home without a vote as everybody made it clear that no vote was needed.

When they greet Probst, they see a merge feast. The problem is he’s also standing next to a table with a cover on it. In order for everyone else to enjoy the feast, one person from each tribe must volunteer to not take part. If there are no volunteers, they will all only get a cracker and some iced tea.

Brad immediately volunteers. Tai is the volunteer for his tribe. I’m not sure whether this is good or bad or does not really matter. In this game, I’m not leaning toward it being good for them. If nothing else, it does give them a chance to chat in peace, and they are happy to work together.

Michaela’s reputation precedes her, and she quickly becomes the target. It’s not usually this easy, but multiple people on both tribes are discussing this as if this first vote will be an easy one. Hali warns her, which is exactly what they feared someone would do.

Realizing that she may be in danger, Michaela approaches the person she thinks she can trust, Cirie, who is not one of those who is looking to get rid of her. Cirie would like the opportunity to mentor her as long a she can control herself.

For the immunity challenge, they will stand on their toes while balancing a block above their heads between themselves and the frame above them. Hali, Troyzan, and Zeke drop before Jeff can even finish explaining the rules. Cirie is next, followed by Debbie and then Michaela within the first 5 minutes. Ozzy is next and then Aubry. Brad drops next, leaving four people to hit the 25 minute mark. Sarah drops immediately followed by Sierra. Tai is the last to fall. Would he have won if he had eaten the feast? Andrea wins immunity.

Sierra wants to split the votes. She wants to get rid of Michaela, but she feels Hali is way too confident and probably has an idol. This doesn’t work for Cirie, who would be happy to get rid of someone other than Michaela, making Hali a suitable sacrifice.

As the topic of hidden idols arises, Hali volunteers to dump out her bag and be strip searched if anyone wants her to do so. Nobody takes her up on that offer.

With 6 votes, Hali has been voted off the island. That split vote plan sure backfired. They handed the numbers over to the side that otherwise would not have had them. Cirie even instructed Michaela not to bother voting for Hali to avoid blowing her cover, and that vote didn’t matter. Hali doesn’t get why they just took out perhaps the least threatening person.

Zeke has been working with Cirie and Andrea, but he’s worried that they are just dictating to him what to do.

For the reward challenge, they will retrieve a net of wooden fish, untie them, and solve a puzzle. Reward is a day of luxury. Sarah chooses Brad, Aubry, Michaela, Cirie, and Sierra to be on her team. Andrea chooses Tai, Ozzy, Troyzan, Debbie, and Zeke. These teams seem lopsided, but they end up pretty even after the water segment. Andrea’s team forgets one of the fish and have to go back, allowing the other team to get a big lead heading into the puzzle. Zeke turns out to be the better puzzle builder, and Andrea’s team wins reward.

Zeke takes the opportunity at the reward challenge to pitch the elimination of Andrea or Cirie. Debbie plays along but doesn’t trust him. If he’s having this much trouble already, this plan cannot be successful, leaving a very dangerous Cirie alive.

Another endurance immunity challenge will have them hanging on poles. Ozzy has won this challenge twice before. Cirie quickly falls, and Brad, Aubry, Debbie, Zeke, Sierra, Troyzan, and Sarah are not far behind. Four people have made it to the 20 minute mark. Michaela is next, acknowledging that she is giving up because she can’t beat Ozzy. Andrea is next, falling all the way from the top. Two people make it to one hour. Then 95 minutes. Ozzy is the one to fall. Tai wins immunity. He is really starting to come off as a big threat, unnecessarily so.

Zeke warns Sierra that she is the target. She doesn’t trust him, so her plan is apparently to throw him under the bus and make him the target instead, something everybody can get behind. Debbie proposes a bigger threat, Ozzy. Either way, her opposing side loses a number, but Zeke is already a number they consider lost.

There are still a lot of people left, but Debbie does not trust that she has pulled together enough numbers to wait. She opts to use her extra vote.

With 6 votes, Ozzy has been voted off the island. Debbie’s extra vote turns out to be wasted, particularly as out of the loop Zeke votes for Aubry and Cirie just casts a random vote for Sierra to screw with people. That was the kind of vote Hali was talking about. It seems unlikely that Ozzy could actually win, but he is a challenge beast.
