Game Changers is an all star season of sorts. These are the players that changed the game or at least the ones they could get to say yes. There are certainly some top tier players in the mix with people who can’t win and nobody remembers.
They are split into two tribes of ten.
Mana (Orange): Hali Ford, Caleb Reynolds, Troyzan Robertson, Sandra Diaz-Twine, Aubry Bracco, Tony Vlachos, Michaela Bradshaw, Jeff Varner, Ciera Eastin, Malcolm Freberg
Nuku (Blue): Debbie Wanner, Tai Trang, Andrea Boehlke, Cirie Fields, Brad Culpepper, Sierra Dawn-Thomas, Sarah Lacina, JT Thomas, Ozzy Lusth, Zeke Smith
They start off on a boat loaded with supplies that they’ll need to start grabbing. There is also an advantage, a tool kit to which they can swim out to untie. Ozzy swims out toward that, and nobody on the other tribe even bothers to challenge him. After a lengthy delay, Caleb jumps in, but it is seeming pointless, which turns out to be the case.
Tony immediately starts out by saying he is looking for the idol. They are not sure if he is serious or not, but if he was trying to get people to start talking about getting rid of him, that mission has been accomplished.
As everybody was scrambling on the around on the boat, Sierra stumbles across the legacy advantage. It allows her to have immunity, but she must use it either when there are 13 people left in the game or when there are 6 people left.
Ozzy has already decided he wants to get rid of Cirie because she is much better at the game and blindsided him eight years ago. He starts spreading the news, eventually getting to one person who is not willing to play along, Tai.
Tony heads out to the water well, where he digs a spy bunker. Troyzan busts him, but he thinks he’s digging for an idol. Whatever he’s being accused of, it just leads to more talk about getting rid of him. Then Ciera proposes taking out another physical asset, Caleb, which worries the others that she is playing too hard too soon.
This season, if there is a tied vote, there will be no revote. Instead, they go right to a tiebreaker if they cannot agree.
For the immunity challenge, they will raft and swim out to keys, swim back over a series of obstacles, dig up puzzle pieces, unlock another set of pieces, and form a ship’s wheel puzzle. Ozzy obviously takes the lead on the swimming portion, but his tribe falls behind on the obstacles. Nuku pulls back ahead as they head into the puzzle. Ciera has done this puzzle once before and lost, and apparently she didn’t learn anything because she loses again, this time to Zeke and Cirie. Nuku wins immunity and flint.
Ciera had already started digging her grave when she was naming names, and she stood out even more by being part of the losing duo on the puzzle. The others tell her to vote for Michaela. As soon as Michaela hears that one person is going to vote for her, she freaks out.
Probst suggests an easy vote: Sandra, the two time winner.
With 6 votes, Ciera has been voted off the island. That was a pretty easy first vote.
Tony felt that was pretty boring, and he wants to form an alliance with those he considers threats: Sandra, Aubry, Caleb, and Malcolm.
JT is unimpressed by Tai’s obsession with chickens.
Because Sandra has the nerve to talk to Troyzan, Tony doesn’t trust her anymore. In response to how he reacts to her, she wants to get rid of him. Knowing who Tony wants in his alliance, Sandra approaches everybody else.
Seeing Ozzy and JT getting along, Cirie scrambles to try to align with people who don’t really want to be her allies.
For the immunity challenge, they swim out to and climb a cage, lift a heavy snake over it, cross a balance beam, untie tiles, solve a combination lock, and then complete a ring toss. Reward is a fishing kit. Cirie sits out for Nuku. Probst tells them that the more people who dive for the snake at once the faster it will go, but Mana is not listening. As if they weren’t far enough behind, they drop their snake off the balance beam. By the time they arrive at the rings, Nuku has 5 out of 8. They make it 6-1. Then Malcolm gets busy with some successful tosses. He ties it 6-6. JT finally lands something to retake the lead. Nuku wins immunity and reward.
Rather than being impressed by Malcolm’s comeback, Michaela noticeably pouts.
Because Tony is so good at finding idols, the others want to split the votes. To do that, they want to get Caleb and Malcolm, two big guys who want to keep other big guys around.
Unlike Sandra, who went after the people Tony was targeting, Tony tried to solidify his alliance that doesn’t have the numbers, but he just needs one more. Caleb approaches Michaela because she hates to lose, and Tony is a lot stronger than Sandra in challenges.
With 5 votes, Tony has been voted off the island. Sandra remains the queen. They didn’t so much split the vote as just Sandra tossing a vote Aubry’s way. The other Aubry vote came from Tony, whose closest allies realized it was a lost cause.
