Hell’s Kitchen Season 8 Episode 6

Unable to deliver on the fish station, Emily was sent home in Hell’s Kitchen Season 8 Episode 5.

Sabrina is not happy that Melissa was not sent home. She should have put her up against stronger competition then.

Melissa is called forward, but not to go home. She will be joining the blue team. In her place, the red team needs a leader. They get… Trev.

The challenge is to come up with an entree salad. Each team will create five salads, and the best one will be featured in Bon Appetit magazine. Trev has decided already that Jillian is clueless, and he isn’t interested in being her leader.

The senior food editor of Bon Appetit will be doing the judging.

Boris and Gail go first. Boris is sweating before the results are revealed. His salad is soggy to match. Gail’s salad looks and tastes beautiful, and she scores a point.

Nona and Rob are the next pair. Rob is concerned because he didn’t have enough time to cook his scallops, but those are perfectly cooked. The problem is the dressing is overwhelming. Nona’s food appears to have been run over by a truck. The blue team is tied 1-1.

Vinny’s salad is flat, while Jillian’s lacks a main ingredient that would qualify it as being an entree salad. No point for either of them.

Russell’s salad is lovely, but Sabrina’s reminds her of a hot dog. That gives the blue team the 2-1 lead.

Trev and Melissa, the two who switched teams, are up last. Trev’s dressing is assertive but works to bring together a lovely salad. Melissa’s duck breast is fatty and underseasoned, and the cheese is overwhelming. They are tied 2-2.

The best salad will break the tie. Rob wins the magazine spread and the challenge for his team. For their reward, the blue team will be dining in Malibu and going to a museum. The red team will be cleaning and doing the prep, and they’re eating flowers and bugs for lunch.

Trev’s angry. As usual. Thanks for nothing, bitches. He doesn’t really want to be a leader, until they get back into the kitchen and the opportunity to start bossing Sabrina around presents itself. After the blue team returns, he complains to them that he’s upset.

Ramsay poses a question: is the blue team stronger without Trev? Rob thinks so. So now Trev is mad at him, too.

There will be a chef table in each kitchen tonight with VIP guests at each. Blue team gets Kelli Williams, who apparently is an actress. Red team gets Mo Gaffney and Nancy Grahn. I take it they’re also in show biz. Jillian and Rob will be their servers.

Russell’s risotto is excellent. He just needs the shrimp from Boris. When Boris finally delivers, it’s rubber. Russell is going to watch over Boris’ every move.

Gail’s lobster spaghetti is delicious.

Rob’s salad may have won the challenge, but he’s struggling to finish it now because of the scallops. He blames Melissa; Russell blames him. Nona, too, is struggling on the scallops, and in spite of the delay, they’re raw. Then raw again. Maybe Trev can do it better. Meanwhile, Rob refuses to accept any of Melissa’s scallops. Eventually, they run out. They’ll have to substitute rock shrimp.

Ramsay asks for gnocchi. Sabrina claims meat has been doing it, which Trev denies. She’d better get to cooking it, end of story.

Vinny is waiting on Boris’ garnish. He and Russell rush him through it, so he just delivers what he has, which is unseasoned. Russell demonstrates his great leadership skills, resorting to calling Boris a dumbass, although that’s not worse than anything Ramsay has called him.

Trev is getting on Sabrina’s nerves with his constant yelling. She tries ignoring him, but that doesn’t work. If she doesn’t respond, he’s just going to keep yelling and getting louder. So then she starts responding. He doesn’t hear her. After hearing Trev screaming and forcing her to yell, Ramsay steps in and tells her to shut it. Really? It’s her fault that she’s screaming because her new “leader” is making her?

With one entree left to go, Boris is thrown out of the kitchen. Okay, now you have an excuse to get rid of him, unlike that dishwashing stupidity.

The winning team is… nobody again. Both teams will nominate one person.

The blue team will have to choose between Melissa and Boris.

Nona wants to blame Sabrina. Why even ask her opinion any more? The response is always the same no matter how Sabrina does. Nona is the other consideration.

The red team has nominated Sabrina. The blue team nominated Boris. While they were thinking about their nominations, Ramsay was thinking about who else needs to be up there. Nona and Melissa can also step forward.

The person leaving Hell’s Kitchen is Melissa. I’m not even convinced she screwed up tonight so much as that Rob sabotaged her, but she was on her way out one way or another. I’m not sure how Boris survived.
