The Biggest Loser Season 9 Episode 14

Sam and Andrea fell below the yellow line (again) in The Biggest Loser Season 9 Episode 13, leading to Andrea’s departure.

We start off with a temptation. There’s a room upstairs filled with food, some healthy and some not so healthy. They will eat every meal in that room because the kitchen is closed. The person who has eaten the most calories at the end of the day will be able to cast the only vote for the week, as long as they do not fall below the yellow line.

O’Neal has a normal breakfast. Sunshine’s plan is just to eat what she would normally eat. Sam’s hoping his advantage is that he eats more calories than anybody else on the ranch, so if everybody behaves, he wins. However, he asks Koli to have his back anyway, so Koli will be going wild with a 1545 calorie breakfast. Michael doesn’t have any interest in playing because he wants somebody else to be the bad guy. Victoria also plans a regular day. Koli’s back for lunch: 2064 calories. By the end of the day, Ashley’s fighting with herself, finally opting to eat a taquito that she doesn’t like. O’Neal grabs some fries to go with his burgers but decides against eating them. He also gives them some good footage by pretending he’s going to eat a cookie. Koli’s final temptation meal brings him to 4164 calories for the day. That would be hard for anybody else to top, and ultimately nobody else is trying. The second highest total was Daris at 1556 calories.

Jillian can’t figure out why Koli’s so attached to Sam, who doesn’t need to be there any more. Everybody else is worried that they’re facing a red line because if they fall below the line with Sam, they’re going home.

During the workout, Victoria’s still doing her head down/staring off into space thing. Meanwhile, Ashley starts crying following the loss of Andrea.

In contrast, O’Neal manages to do the pushups like all the younger guys have been doing them. That should take away the grey hair jokes for a while.

Dr. H is back to update the contestants on their status. Michael had an 84% risk rate of various diseases, compared to 1% average for a 31 year old. His new numbers have improved him to 31% and lowered his age from 54 to 42. Ashley learned she was a diabetic, but now her blood sugar is normal.

Alison greets them in front of one of her contraptions. Following a lot of bad wordplay, the challenge is revealed. They each have 175 building blocks. Their goal is to stack them so that they can get to their flag first. Reward is a 1 pound advantage. Penalty for the last place finisher is a 1 pound disadvantage. Having done construction work in the past, Michael hopes to guide Ashley so that she does not get the penalty. Daris plans to use as few blocks as possible. Koli and Sam go right to making a tower, which may present a challenge as far as climbing. Eventually, Ashley decides to ignore Michael and his elaborate structure. At some point, he decides to ignore his instincts, too. Daris is the first person to make his climb up his structure. Sam sees this and follows suit. Both grab hold of the ladder, and both promptly get sent back to the drawing board. Daris climbs up for a second go. This time he looks like he’s got plenty of room to move, which he does, completing the challenge first. Koli is the second person to the top. Victoria is the first person to partially knock over her structure. Sunshine takes third place, followed by Sam.

Going down for one more block, O’Neal comes down hard on his leg, falling on his back on the concrete. He’s hauled away on a stretcher. By default, he will face the disadvantage. When he returns from the hospital, he has good news that it was not a fracture or a tear, but he’ll have to keep it wrapped up in his Walgreens brand ice pack.

They will all be going to the beach to meet a special guest, pro volleyball player Gabrielle Reece, who’s there to promote Danskin Now and Starter, and then she works them out in the sand.

O’Neal’s already having a rough week, which has now gotten worse. He gets a phone call that his brother has died. Rather than drowning his sorrows in food, he heads into the gym and boxes Jillian, but he can only keep up the brave front for so long before losing it.

But the game goes on. It’s time to weigh in.

Koli: 260 pounds (-10, 3.70%, immune) – indulging (and even overindulging) really doesn’t matter, as long as it’s not an every meal sort of thing
Daris: 219 pounds (-7, -1, 3.54%)
Michael: 358 pounds (-5, 1.38%)
Ashley: 254 pounds (-4, 1.55%)
Sam: 246 pounds (-6, 2.38%)
Victoria: 266 pounds (-1, 0.37%)
O’Neal: 270 pounds (-8, +1, 2.52%)
Sunshine: 191 pounds (-1, 0.52%)

Victoria and Sunshine have fallen below the yellow line. That means that Koli does not have to worry about saving either Sam or O’Neal. No question Victoria needs to be there more, although she seemed to be doing better at home than she’s been doing at the ranch. However, it’s no secret how close Sunshine is to the cousins, and this has been a season of voting based on friendships, regardless of what they say about hating gameplay.

Vote
Koli: Victoria

In his voting, Koli tells her she does not work hard enough. With 1 vote, Victoria is not The Biggest Loser. From her starting weight of 358 pounds, she is now down to 240 pounds. She and her mom decide to redo that first challenge, which her mother was unable to finish. Cherita may not have spent one night on the ranch, but she’s doing just fine on her own, having dropped 77 pounds from her starting weight of 277.
