Katie Stevens and Andrew Garcia were both eliminated in American Idol Season 9 Episode 31. Tonight the top 7 will sing inspirational songs with mentor Alicia Keys.

Casey James
Song: Don’t Stop by Fleetwood Mac
Randy: Good but not your best. Same thing every week.
Ellen: Great guitar playing. Nobody will be talking about that tomorrow.
Kara: Made yourself like everybody else tonight.
Simon: Not particularly inspiring. Zero emotion. No originality. Lazy.

Lee DeWyze
Song: The Boxer by Simon & Garfunkel
Randy: Great artist ready to make great music.
Ellen: Beautiful song choice. So much soul and depth.
Kara: Had your moment tonight.
Simon: Sincere, emotional, inspirational. Made it sound as if it was written a week ago. Brilliant.

Tim Urban
Song: Better Days by the Goo Goo Dolls
Randy: Just kind of like okay good karaoke.
Ellen: Kind of like the soup of the day. Didn’t like the soup today.
Kara: In the right lane, but not your best performance.
Simon: Would be quite impressed if this were the first time we’d seen you. Maybe a step too high for you. But you have improved.

Aaron Kelly
Song: I Believe I Can Fly by R Kelly (brave)
Randy: Strange arrangement, but you’ve got a huge voice.
Ellen: I believe you can fly.
Kara: By the end, you were flying.
Simon: Gave it your all. Would have turned it off in the real world. Not very good, but you kind of made it quite good.

Siobhan Magnus
Song: When You Believe by Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey (even braver)
Randy: Don’t know why you picked a song by two amazing singers. Just okay.
Ellen: That’s why you’re here.
Kara: Technically, really well sung, but this is not a musical. Still don’t know who you are.
Simon: Not the right song. Old fashioned arrangement. All over the place.

Michael Lynche
Song: Hero by Nickelback
Randy: Worried about the song choice, but you held your own.
Ellen: Great job. And we’re short on time (again/still).
Kara: Not my favorite performance. Don’t have the tone for that song.
Simon: Sang pretty well. Felt artificial.

Crystal Bowersox
Song: People Get Ready by The Impressions
Randy: Standing ovation.
Ellen: Get more beautiful and keep getting better.
Kara: Schooled all the contestants on how to do it.
Simon: Inspirational. In a completely different class.
