Amy P was eliminated in The Biggest Loser Families Episode 7, leaving her husband Philip to fend for himself.
Bob doesn’t buy that Brady only lost 3 pounds last week. He denies that it was intentional, and eventually Bob gets out of him that he’s not eating often enough. Bob believes that Brady’s intentions are good, but he doesn’t trust his wife Vicky.
It seems Dave Zinczenko from Men’s Health has a book to promote, so with that said, he’s there at the temptation for no real reason. At the challenge, contestants must choose the best of two bad foods based on which has the fewest calories. Reward is a 40 pound advantage at the next challenge. Both teams pick hot dogs over nachos, which is correct. The teams both pick penne and shrimp over spaghetti and sausage, and again both teams score a point, with sausage being high in calories. Coleen picks chicken fajitas, while Amy guesses chicken nuggets. The nuggets are correct, with the key word about the other choice’s badness being “the works.” Brady and Phil both guess the ham, egg, and cheese muffin over the bagel with light cream cheese, which is correct. Heba picks the chicken burrito with the works, while Michelle picks 18 light beers. The burrito turns out to be slightly fewer calories, and the blue team wins the challenge.
Heba has decided that Phil hates her personally. They confront him in front of his team in an attempt to get them to hate him, too. Phil’s as surprised about her reaction as anybody else, and she’s not doing herself any favors. She wants him to shut his mouth, not be a slimy snake in the grass, and just worry about losing weight. Someone get this chick a mirror so she can practice this speech to herself. Phil’s team thinks this whole thing is quite silly.
The teams arrive at the challenge and see cranes suspended in the air. Each team will be harnessed, with each player holding a rope. They will be supporting their own body weight. Black team will have to carry an additional 40 pounds since they lost the previous challenge, which will become more of an issue as the challenge goes on. The winning team will be able to make any player from the opposite team’s weight not count at the next weigh-in. Blue is carrying 932 pounds; black is carrying 918 pounds. Coleen’s fear of heights has the potential to play a role again. Their decision is based on that thought. Blue team decides based on putting the two heaviest people in the middle. At 25 minutes, Alison announces that one person from each team must let go at half an hour. Michelle wants to let go and convinces her team it’s the right thing to do. Blue team decides between Amy and Vicky and goes with Vicky. Phil immediately begins struggling as Michelle lets go. After about 15 minutes of this, Phil slips. Coleen’s not far behind him. It’s now all up to Renee to hold up the 918 pounds by herself. She, too, falls, and blue wins the challenge, a particularly huge victory because Brady’s likely to have a great week considering his lackluster performance the past couple weeks.
Phil is eliminated from consideration first because they think he will lose a lot of weight but will be the weakest link as far as percentages go. They also seem to really want to do something that’s not what the other team expects. Beyond that, they don’t give any indication what they plan to do. The other team believes it will either be Renee or Phil.
At the weigh-in, the blue team reveals that they have decided to make Michelle’s weight not count. She doesn’t understand their logic, but being considered a threat is not a good thing in this house.
Michelle: 200 pounds (-2)
It quickly becomes apparent Michelle was the wrong person to choose for her weight to be excluded.
Renee: 222 pounds (-3)
Coleen: 177 pounds (-2)
Phil: 269 pounds (-3)
Total: -8 pounds, 1.18%
Ultimately, Michelle lost the least, but it doesn’t end up mattering who has been chosen to not count because the entire team had a particularly bad week.
Brady: 270 pounds (-13)
Vicky: 201 pounds (-2)
Heba: 247 pounds (-6)
Amy: 187 pounds (-6)
Total: -27 pounds, 2.90%
Blue team has a pretty good week (and Alison points out that Amy’s done the best of everyone so far), while black team bombs pretty noticeably, with Brady scoring enough of a weight loss by himself to beat them. This should bode well for them next week, but someone will be going home this week. Renee is safe as the biggest loser from her team. Renee and Michelle need to decide between their day one teammate Coleen or the more logical long-term ally Phil.
Phil believes that the blue team tried to sabotage him and get him off his game, and maybe he played right into their hands.
Votes
Renee: Phil
Michelle: Phil
Phil: Michelle
Coleen: Phil
This is one of the dumbest votes I’ve seen. A Phil out of the game will contribute more than a Coleen whose head’s in the game, considering he’s got 100 pounds on her. Phil hopes to take everything he’s learned back home with him to teach his children. Since his 20th anniversary is right around the corner, he is buying a ring for his wife, with plans to get repledge their vows when he gets home. Phil is down 108 pounds to 225 pounds.
Stay tuned to dingoRUE for another live recap of The Biggest Loser Families episode 9, which airs Tuesday at 8/7c on NBC.
I agree…dumb vote! And I truly think Heba is the most obnoxious, self-centered, lying, two-faced person ever to be on Biggest Loser.
