In the first twist of the season, the house had to vote for a new HOH outside the house before they even said a word to any of them in Big Brother 10 Episode 1. Brian took the bull by the horns and pushed Jerry into nominating the two people he wanted to see nominated: Renny and Jessie, who had been arguing the night before.
Renny seems to be trying to get over the fight, but Jessie doesn’t have any interest in discussing it. Instead he runs up to Jerry’s room to try to get in his good graces. Jerry wants to cut a baby in half. Or something.
When Jessie comes back downstairs, she begins talking to him again. She gets nowhere still. He wants an apology. She apologizes to him, and he says it’s about time. Except she apologized to him immediately after the incident. Now she’s past him being a baby and tells him he has a forked tongue.
Brian, Ollie, and Dan, on the strength of their night one alliance, believe they have control of the house. Brian tries to drag Angie in with him, telling her he’s getting the numbers and has Jerry doing whatever he wants. Then he goes to Steven and makes a deal with him. Then Memphis, who’s not very receptive to the plan.
April’s already flirting with Ollie and looks ready for a showmance.
Jerry selects Memphis at random for the veto competition.
Renny selects Michelle.
Jessie selects April.
When the houseguests head out into the backyard in their pajamas, they see the backyard has been turned into a giant bed, containing colored pillows with colored veto bears inside. They must fill 5 jars with their bears, crawling through a river of honey in the process (thereby also covering themselves in feathers). Renny’s out of the challenge before it even starts. Memphis scores first, followed by Jerry. Michelle is the next to score 1, then she’s the first to 2. Jessie gets 1, and Memphis is behind him with his second. April gets her second. Renny’s bringing up the rear with her first. Memphis takes the lead with 3, and Jerry’s behind him with his second. Jessie also gets his second. Michelle is now at 3, and so is Jessie. Michelle and Jessie move ahead with 4 each. Jessie gets his 5th bear, and with that, he wins the power of veto.
Memphis may not have won the competition, but he did well enough to get some fear into the other guys.
Ollie promises April, Libra, and Keesha they’re safe, and Brian says Memphis is going home. The girls are afraid because Brian’s playing too hard. Libra realizes their plan: get rid of the stronger guys so that then they can turn on the girls. It’s not long before the girl power conspiracy is floating through the house.
April gets pissed off by this concept and goes to confront Ollie, asking whether he’s with Brian and Dan. He doesn’t deny that he has an alliance (nor do they give him the chance to do so), but he does say he’s on her side. He gives her and Libra his word. Too. They want to teach Brian (and by extension the rest of the house) a lesson: don’t take too much power.
Ollie pays Memphis a visit to warn him he’s going to be backdoored.
The house unites as a whole (minus Brian and Dan) to confront Jerry about putting Brian on the block. Ollie is the ringleader in this plan, jumping from the sinking ship that was his original alliance pretty quickly. They promise Jerry he’ll be safe week two, but they make it pretty clear he’d better cooperate.
After Renny uses her veto ceremony time to tell Jessie he put a target on his own back, Jessie uses the power of veto on himself obviously.
Jerry agrees to honor the house’s wishes and nominates Brian. He could have been good at this game, but he played too hard too fast. If he survives, he needs to tone it down.
