Big Brother 10 Episode 1

Just a couple months after the last season ended (one which, if nothing else, sucked less than the last few have), it’s time for Big Brother to start its 10th season. In addition to returning host Julie “Chenbot” Chen, the 13 strangers (yes, all strangers for the first time since Big Brother 3) that make up the Big Brother 10 cast are:

Angie
April
Brian
Dan
Jerry
Jessie
Keesha
Libra
Memphis
Michelle
Ollie
Renny
Steven

Jerry says he’s the oldest person ever on reality TV, and he’s seen every episode of Big Brother, even season 1. April believes she can get the guys to do whatever she wants. Libra says she’s a chameleon, typically a pretty safe role if somebody can pull it off. Memphis thinks he’s a hustler. Keesha may well be this year’s Holly/Janelle. Michelle plans to be loud and most likely obnoxious. Steven hopes he can blend in well with the women, which has historically been true about gay guys on this show.

They’re going to be choosing the first HOH before anyone moves into the house. All they have to go on is first impressions, not having said a word to any of them. They all vote, but the results will remain a mystery for the time being.

April voted for Renny because she thinks she looks like the motherly type. Little does she know. After she gets to know her, she decides she’s nuts. She’s not alone, as Renny’s already getting on a lot of people’s nerves.

Keesha voted for Jerry because he looks so nice and sweet.

Steven doesn’t reveal that he’s gay at the very first meeting, as if half the people don’t notice already.

Dan hopes to be Brian’s ally because he thinks they have a lot in common.

April lets everybody feel her boobs to prove they’re real.

The house divides into two groups of six for the first competition. There’s an odd man out, so Jessie volunteers to sit out because he doesn’t want to be seen as a physical threat (it’s a little late for that). The first challenge is a reward challenge, and they will be competing for a vintage car. Huh? This is Big Brother. They’re not supposed to give stuff away unless it’s related to a movie premiere. Jessie’s upset about this, but it’s really quite simple: you don’t want to win a reward on night one. Granted, the car is worth more than any of these people will make directly from this show unless they finish first or second. The good news for him is that the winning team eats, while the losing team goes on slop. Yes, slop is back, despite two people being hospitalized for it last year.

They go outside to see two VW bugs upside down. They must all climb in, pull themselves across the ceiling, and hop out one at a time on the other side until they’re down to just one person left. That person will win the car.

Renny is first out for the red team. Libra is first out for the white team. Michelle is the second person to hop out for red. Keesha drops for white. Angie jumps out for red. Dan jumps out for red. Jerry takes a fall while getting out for white. Steven and Memphis do rock, paper, scissors, and Memphis wins this, so he gets the car. He chooses the 69 Camaro rather than the 66 Mustang. Red team gets food, but the white team is already on slop.

With three votes and finishing second for HOH is Renny. The winner of the first HOH is Jerry. No surprise, although I would think he’d serve a better purpose as a pawn nomination than HOH.

Dan and Brian begin talking alliance already, which is stupid because these night one alliances typically fall flat on their faces sooner rather than later. They decide to bring Ollie in with them.

Renny wakes everybody up in the middle of the night and begins screeching. Jessie, who was in the next room, is upset by her loudness and confronts her about it. She wants him to just get over it.

Brian goes to Jerry to chat. He tells him he was in the Air Force, which gets Jerry to trust him. Jerry wants an alliance. Brian considers this a temporary alliance.

Jerry wants Dan out because he’s a loose cannon, but Brian doesn’t hide very well that he’s in an alliance already. He also brings up Memphis, who won a car earlier. Brian poses the scenario of Jessie against Renny, which Jerry is okay with because it would eliminate conflict.

Nominations
Michelle-Safe
Angie-Safe
Memphis-Safe
Libra-Safe
April-Safe
Brian-Safe
Steven-Safe
Keesha-Safe
Ollie-Safe
Dan-Safe

As planned, Jessie and Renny have been nominated for eviction. He tells them he’s nominated them due to their conflict. All this does is make them hate each other even more, but it does keep Jerry’s hands fairly clean.

Stay tuned to dingoRUE for another recap of Big Brother 10 episode 2, which airs Tuesday at 9/8c on CBS.
