The Biggest Loser Renewed

The Biggest Loser, which premiered in its 4th season up 9% in ratings on September 11th, has been renewed by NBC for season 5, reports Hollywood Reporter.

A couple of major changes are in store. First, taking a page out of The Amazing Race book, the show will feature teams of two, rather than individuals. Second, the show is scheduled to air in midseason, presumably either January or February, a break from the traditional fall showing, an indication that NBC may have a bit more faith in this show than they did previously.

“The fifth season pickup is a testament to the show’s inspiring stories, and the best part is that it also inspires viewers at home to lead healthier lives,” said Mark Koops, executive producer.
